Before photo from original listing when I bought my townhouse
    Lo N.

Matt is the owner of Renovate Hawaii and personally came out to install my coffee bar. He was quick, timely, and fairly priced. I loved how the counter top/wood part came out. The workmanship was impeccable. I use my new coffee bar every day and love it. Matt was telling me he is a third generation contractor and from Oahu. He's been doing this since he was a kid! I am very impressed that he started his own business at such a young age. I think it's important to support the hard-working people of Hawaii, he and his guys at Renovate Hawaii are just that-- plus they do good work. Can't recommend him enough.

    After

There is no question that Renovate Hawaii was the right group to redo our kitchen. Matt and his team worked with us from start to finish and were patient during the entire journey. In our situation, this was made even more complicated by the fact that we live on the Mainland. We needed a company that would communicate well and make sure we were in the loop for all the critical decisions. They delivered on this and the resulting renovation was amazing. A kitchen reno brings a lot of decisions for the homeowners and often it's difficult to envision what the result will look like. Most companies would do what the owners decided and not question the choices. Matt and his crew used their experience to guide us to make more reasonable decisions and matches we would be happy with. The collaboration felt like a real team effort. With a 60+ year-old home and little done to the kitchen, there are bound to be some surprises. Matt and his folks were upfront about what they found and clear about the extra cost to repair issues that would likely cause problems later. In addition, all kitchen designs look wonderful until you actually start the demo and see what you're dealing with. Again, Matt was great about walking us through alternatives given what they found after the old cabinets, counters and wall were taken down. Flexibility is key and it's more comforting when there's a crew and company you trust. Doing a project like this is complex, messy and time consuming. Renovate Hawaii used their experience to bring order and confidence to the entire process. Rodney Oto

Finished plumbing work under kitchen sink 2 of 2

For the benefit of those in search of a renovation contractor, I would like to share my personal experience with Renovate Hawaii. As I am not qualified to judge the workmanship of tradesmen, I will refrain from doing so; and will instead include a couple of photos so that you can judge for yourselves. The contract was for a complete renovation of a 1b/1bath condo with all new countertops, cabinets, vanity, bathroom and flooring. There are typically issues with any renovation, however, I was particularly disappointed in how the 'finished' plumbing work under the kitchen sink turned out - see photos. The response I got when I questioned the work, was that their cabinet installer with 40 years of experience thought it was the best way. While some may find the work to be completely acceptable, I personally found it extremely disappointing. The offer for resolution was $250 credit, or they would attempt a 'fix', which could result in additional charges. With my trust and confidence already broken due to various other issues, I reluctantly decided to take the credit and decided to find someone else to do the work. Fortunately, I was able to find another contractor who did an excellent job enclosing the back of the cabinets, and although It cost me quite a bit more than $250, the work was done to my complete satisfaction. Best of luck to everyone on choosing a contractor for your own renovation projects.

He also installed carpet in an additional bedroom and even recommended an excellent carpet for us to purchase. Joe is incredibly professional and knowledgeable about every aspect of flooring installation. He removed our existing carpet, laminate, and tile, leveled our floors (which had numerous dips), and even uncovered three layers of tile downstairs before installing the new flooring. Despite the tremendous amount of work involved, he took the time to really prep the floors and completed the entire project by himself. His work ethic, attention to detail, and craftsmanship were truly impressive. I'm exhausted just thinking of all the work he did! Joe was always kind, respectful, and kept us updated throughout the entire process so we always knew what to expect. On top of all that, his pricing was very fair and offered outstanding value for the quality of work he delivered. He even helped us to get the best prices on our flooring. If you're looking for someone who takes pride in their work and delivers exceptional results with Aloha, I highly recommend Joe! We couldn't be happier with our new floors! Thanks again Joe!

The first time was to replace laminate flooring in half of my condo following a refrigerator leak. Paradise Flooring was able to match the existing flooring, originally purchased from a different company nearly 10 years ago. They also connected me to a great installer. The whole process was smooth and efficient, and the finished product is perfect, as if nothing had ever happened. The second time was purchasing ceramic tiles for the shower wall of my parents' condo during their building-wide plumbing replacement. Again, I wanted to match the existing shower walls (possibly from the 80's) and although a perfect match was not possible, the ones we chose are very close and look great. Besides the product itself, I appreciated Paradise Flooring for their clear communication, kind and professional staff, and efficiency and care even though this was a relatively small job. Thanks, Paradise Flooring!

They were helpful, knowledgable, informative, and patient with me as I struggled between a couple of options. They were able at help me look for carpeting that fit my needs, without making me feel pushed - or like I was getting the hard sell. They were able to tell me what they had in stock, and for choices that were not readily available, how quickly these could be shipped to Hawaii. And...they were nice about everything...When I had questions about the process, they responded to my e-mails in a very timely manner. Paradise did not do the carpet installation themselves, but they were able to provide me with contact information for vendors that they had vetted and found to be reliable. This was very helpful - as the vendor I chose was one of their recommendations, and he was also very good.

Update:…read more Unfortunately I am changing my review to two stars. Our vinyl floors were complete in March 2023 and initially everything was great like I stated in my original review. We noticed in August 2025 that multiple planks were lifting up when walked on. We reached out to American Floor and Home and they swiftly sent someone to inspect. He was very thorough in his inspection and concerned at the condition of the floors/baseboards considering how recent they were installed. He put a claim in with the manufacturer Cali Bamboo. Since then, we've sent the pictures they requested, had their third party inspection complete, and still nothing has been remedied. We periodically get emails saying American Floor and Home is coordinating with the manufacturer and will receive updates as they come. It's been 8 months since this process has started and nothing has changed except the worsening condition of our floors and baseboards. Besides lifting, multiple planks now have cracks and chips in them. The baseboards continue to split between joints and now even from the wall itself. I've sent footage of the worsening damage and still nothing has been done to remedy anything. We spent a lot of money on this purchase and it's very disheartening that this is the response we are getting. Whether it's a manufacturer's issue or an installation issue, I'd expect some type of plan of action to fix this problem that is only getting worse the longer they delay it. Extremely disappointing.
