Matt is the owner of Renovate Hawaii and personally came out to install my coffee bar. He was quick, timely, and fairly priced. I loved how the counter top/wood part came out. The workmanship was impeccable. I use my new coffee bar every day and love it. Matt was telling me he is a third generation contractor and from Oahu. He's been doing this since he was a kid! I am very impressed that he started his own business at such a young age. I think it's important to support the hard-working people of Hawaii, he and his guys at Renovate Hawaii are just that-- plus they do good work. Can't recommend him enough.

    After

There is no question that Renovate Hawaii was the right group to redo our kitchen. Matt and his team worked with us from start to finish and were patient during the entire journey. In our situation, this was made even more complicated by the fact that we live on the Mainland. We needed a company that would communicate well and make sure we were in the loop for all the critical decisions. They delivered on this and the resulting renovation was amazing. A kitchen reno brings a lot of decisions for the homeowners and often it's difficult to envision what the result will look like. Most companies would do what the owners decided and not question the choices. Matt and his crew used their experience to guide us to make more reasonable decisions and matches we would be happy with. The collaboration felt like a real team effort. With a 60+ year-old home and little done to the kitchen, there are bound to be some surprises. Matt and his folks were upfront about what they found and clear about the extra cost to repair issues that would likely cause problems later. In addition, all kitchen designs look wonderful until you actually start the demo and see what you're dealing with. Again, Matt was great about walking us through alternatives given what they found after the old cabinets, counters and wall were taken down. Flexibility is key and it's more comforting when there's a crew and company you trust. Doing a project like this is complex, messy and time consuming. Renovate Hawaii used their experience to bring order and confidence to the entire process. Rodney Oto

Finished plumbing work under kitchen sink 2 of 2

For the benefit of those in search of a renovation contractor, I would like to share my personal experience with Renovate Hawaii. As I am not qualified to judge the workmanship of tradesmen, I will refrain from doing so; and will instead include a couple of photos so that you can judge for yourselves. The contract was for a complete renovation of a 1b/1bath condo with all new countertops, cabinets, vanity, bathroom and flooring. There are typically issues with any renovation, however, I was particularly disappointed in how the 'finished' plumbing work under the kitchen sink turned out - see photos. The response I got when I questioned the work, was that their cabinet installer with 40 years of experience thought it was the best way. While some may find the work to be completely acceptable, I personally found it extremely disappointing. The offer for resolution was $250 credit, or they would attempt a 'fix', which could result in additional charges. With my trust and confidence already broken due to various other issues, I reluctantly decided to take the credit and decided to find someone else to do the work. Fortunately, I was able to find another contractor who did an excellent job enclosing the back of the cabinets, and although It cost me quite a bit more than $250, the work was done to my complete satisfaction. Best of luck to everyone on choosing a contractor for your own renovation projects.

TLDR: These people are FANTASTIC at what they do, and trust them to get the work done…read more My family and I have been thinking of a kitchen renovation for several years but were hesitant due to the scale and potential cost of a project like this. Beyond Builders and their staff were communicative and understanding from start to finish! In our initial meetings with Josh and Tomoko, they carefully listened to our desired outcomes and focused on staying within a set budget we were comfortable with (cuz economy's tough y'know?). Once the contract was signed, 3D designs were promptly drafted which gave us several options to choose from, they guided us through obtaining required items for the material list, and once everything was ready a start date was set. They were very patient with us, we never felt rushed, and our desired outcomes were always prioritized. Junior and Ming were the leads on the renovation portion, and MAN do they work efficiently! They said it would take two weeks, and they finished in two weeks. One thing I appreciate about their crew was the communication on progress and collaborative questions. For example, before installing handles on the cabinets they would ask beforehand how we'd like them placed. They always made sure it was being made the way we wanted. At the end of the renovation, the kitchen felt like something out of a movie set. As you can tell in the attached pictures, the before pictures (green, walled) and after pictures (open, white countertop) is night and day. They were doing such a good job that I had to request a change order to install a new vanity in our bathroom to replace the old one haha. All in all, Beyond Builders was a pleasure to work with. Our family is so happy with the renovation and we already plan to hit them up for future projects (when we have the funds). Big shout out to Josh, Tomoko, Junior, Ming and their crew! Instantly, I heard back from Keith to schedule a home visit. In the first week of January, Keith came by to do a look through. He was very kind and professional. Keith emailed my estimate within several days. Our bathroom remodel was scheduled to take 14 days, but it was completed within 9 days, which was good for our family considering we only have one bathroom. From initial contact throughout the project Jeff, HHR Supervisor, kept open communication with me every day. He kept me afloat on what they found, what needed to be done, what my options were. Jeff and his team were very detailed and the level of work they did was beyond superb. I'd like to send my all my aloha and much mahalo to Keith, Jeff and their Hawaii Home Remodel crew for their expertise and hard work over the past 9 days. You brought our outdated bathroom up to 2026. My COASTAL MODERN bathroom dreams have come true! P.S. so, when's our next project??!?! : ) HIGHLY RECOMMEND Liz Martin & Family

Spencer, from Kurihara Contracting, was different. He got back to us and quickly and scheduled a visit. Upon meeting him, we felt very at ease and comfortable. He was very knowledgable and seemed to be a straight shooter (I wanted some storage over the toilet and he straight up told me that would be weird because it would block the bathroom window). After listening to what we were thinking, he came up with a plan and gave us an estimate. We didn't get any renderings (not sure if bathroom renovations get those?) but we knew he knew what he was doing, so it wasn't really an issue - Mom and I were trusting he and his team's professionalism and it worked! Did we have any idea of the cost of a bathroom renovation? No. Was it more than I imagined it to be? Honestly, yes. But after the job was done, did I think it was worth it? ABSOLUTELY YES. The job Kurihara Contracting did with our master bathroom was AWESOME. And I think with this company, you get what you pay for - The professionalism, consideration, final product...chef's kiss! Our bathroom looks so much larger and brighter! We just love it. We were also able to upgrade to a toilet we wanted (something really important to my mom ;D). Thank you, Spencer and Crew for our bathroom transformation! My hope is that we save up money to do more renovations and we can use your services! Hopefully by that time, we won't have to deal with government imposed tariffs on imported materials!

This locally owned company specializes in custom storage solutions, and their team really lives up to the name. They were professional, thoughtful, and so easy to work with. The finished product looks amazing and has added so much functionality and style to our home. In fact it's so seamless... wouldn't even know we put it there unless we told you it's an addition! All in, the cost came out to just under $4,000, which was pretty much on par with quotes we got from big box stores after including install etc. (the depth is only 10"... otherwise big box may have been cheaper if it was the standard 12"). Although it was slightly more, we felt much better supporting a local business that offered higher quality materials, better service, and a strong warranty. It felt like money well spent. The process was super smooth. They came out to our home to take measurements for free and brought a great selection of samples so we could start narrowing things down. After that, we met at their SALT Kakaʻako showroom, which is beautiful and very helpful to see things in person. That final walkthrough gave us peace of mind before placing the order. Kayla was such a pleasure to work with. She was incredibly helpful and patient throughout the design process. With Susan's support behind the scenes, everything came together seamlessly. They truly cared about the details and were quick to answer our questions or make adjustments. One small thing I might have missed in the planning process is that the cabinets are backless. That was a surprise, but in the end, it doesn't take away from how much we love the final look. It's clean, custom, and feels just right for our space. We are honestly obsessed with our new cabinet and highly recommend Inspired Closets Hawaii. From the first site visit to the final walkthrough, everything was seamless. William managed this project very well and guided us through this process with ease. At any point if we had questions he was quick to respond. The showroom they have is great and the experience of setting your preferences on design and materials is quite enjoyable. The only hiccup we encountered is that the supplier of the original tile that had been selected did not come in the size we needed and so it wouldn't have meshed well with the current tile in the living room. William helped us find a suitable alternative and we were able to pivot and are very pleased with the outcome. There were a couple of adjustments during the project but again related to the tile, we changed the direction of the placement which allows for us to replace the remaining tile in the house in the future if we decided to do so. William and team thinking ahead with our needs in mind really provided a sense of care. To top it all off, we wanted this build done ASAP and the team was able to complete the remodel in 8 days compared to their estimate of 10 - 14. We are extremely pleased with the work and so glad we went with a business right here in Kaneohe. Thank you William, Wen, and team! My renovation consisted of a full kitchen & bathroom remodel, with tub to shower conversion. I contacted a few companies and received various quotes, some of which required me to travel to various showrooms to select materials which as a first time home renovator, seemed overwhelming. However, when I was contacted by William, he informed me he had previously done renovations in my building and was very familiar with how the management office worked, water shut off, elevator reservations, etc. MY Construction's showroom had all materials/samples in one place where I could put everything together and get a visual idea; he also had tons of photos of examples on his phone to show me. Can't say enough amazing things about William and his crew, not only did he keep me updated daily, but he also handled so many of the nuance tasks on his own, making sure I wasn't distracted at work or taking on any unnecessary stress during the project.
