We love this place! We don't ever stay very long but that's no reflection on the food. It's because we usually get stuck siting at the bar and the seats are uncomfortable. I can't recommend only one thing off the menu yet because I haven't tried everything I want to yet. You never know what might be right around the corner. I've never had anything bad here. Just remember it's a neighborhood bar for some of the people in there and be nice. It is still basically a tavern in looks. read more

We tried on recommendation. It was mediocre at best. After we toweled off the gallon of grease from the fries and added salt they were half soggy and half hard and hard bits. If you're into glitz and glamour this is not the place for you. It's definetly a bar for the locals very homey inside. We definitely love checking out places where locals go instead of touristy spots. We didn't expect much but they definetly had really good food. The waitress was very nice and attentive. Oyster shooters are a must from here! The shooters had just a sprinkle of minced pickles at the bottom of it and I've never had that before but it worked really well with the shooters. We got the grand slam after a local suggested it and he was very very nice. Very happy that we tried it we added pastrami to it as well and it was delicious. As a local on the Oregon Coast, it is always good to make your first visit to an establishment during the off season, especially in areas like Seaside that get invaded by the tourists. I have driven past the Relief Pitcher hundreds of times and have never had the chance to stop and enjoy. Finally had a free night and wanted some fresh oysters, so off to Seaside we go... It was a pretty cool omen that en route from Astoria, we saw the first coastal snow of the season in downtown Seaside. This made the welcoming fire at The Relief Pitcher feel extra special. For a Friday night, it was not packed at all. Just a handful of regulars that all knew each other. Very relaxed pace and vibe. I like the fact that quite a few ladies had no problem coming in for a beer on their own, so no fears of predatory behaviour from some of the male ass-clowns that take up air in our society. This is like going over to a mate's house for a beer and a bite. Very kicked back and comfortable. Great fresh fried oysters, hand-cut fresh fries, and coleslaw that was some of the best that I have ever tasted. It had pomegranate seeds in it I believe and was fresh and really flavourful. Fries were perfect, so perfect, I'd just go there for a plate of them. Fried clams were good but pretty much what you find at most places. Chips and salsa were OK (fresh salsa, but bagged chips). No complaints at all really. Prices were a bit high on a couple of menu items, but all in all it works out. During the nicer weather, on TUESDAYS they have horseshoe games with a $5 entry free, random team placement and winner takes the whole entry pot. As a lad in Ireland, tossing horseshoes was a great past-time, so I am glad that I can come here and play. Be nice to win money to pay for my pints as I play as well. Free appetizers during these games on Tuesday nights. Have to wait for the tourists for the nicer weather I suppose, but to have fun and maybe kick some of their gluten avoiding, espresso swigging, organic, bearded Portlandia asses back home in horseshoes would be worth the aggravation (wink) Full service bar, Lottery machines, keno and all of that fun stuff. We stopped there for the burgers we'd heard about, and burgers we got. Super legit. Simple, perfectly seasoned, greasy in the best way. More hand-cut fries on the side than either of us could eat. This wins in my book, every time. We each had a beer, but I was pleasantly surprised actually when offered that they do have fresh squeezed juices, should we like a cocktail. Didn't really go with the burger/fries/beer that I was craving so I didn't, but nice touch there. It's the kind of homey, rough around the edges place I like. A bit divey, but welcoming. The burger with cheddar and parmesan cheese was fantastic, as were the house-cut fries. Spending the weekend in Gearhart, and found this place through Yelp. It looks like a dive bar on the south side of Seaside. Inside was clean, staff very friendly and attentive. Menu was big on burgers, sandwiches and pub fare. Wife had bacon cheeseburger, which was really good. Hand cut fries were delicious. I ordered the tuna reuben, and OMG! It was one of the biggest tuna steaks I have ever eaten. It was perfectly cooked, moist, well seasoned, and did I say a HUGE HUNK OF TUNA STEAK between thick slices of grilled bread. My wife had a margarita, which they make with fresh squeezed juices, and she loved it. All in all, a great little restaurant. If you're looking for fancy cuisine, small bites and a 10 page wine list, probably need to look elsewhere. If you're looking for great food and service in a really relaxed atmosphere, this is your place! Will definitely come back. read more
