We live in the area about 5 miles from Ruby's. We've had outstandingly good food there but have been VERY frustrated by their Irregular hours!! They do NOT necessarily keep to their published hours and we've made a 5 mile drive a few times to find them closed when their hours said they'd be open! One time we arrived 45 minutes before their published closing and found them staffed, with a hot grill but telling us "Sorry, we're closed!" They almost never answer their phone, so calling to verify (or call in a take-out order) doesn't work! If Ruby's actually maintains their published hours, it would be one of our top favorite places to eat out! read more

Ok I have never been to ruby's until today. My best friend told me about the Brussel sprout appetizer the other day and made them sound so good so of coarse I had to try them. So I ordered those and the garlic mozzarella fries to share with my co worker. When I walked in to pick up my order everyone was all smiles and just a good vibe in general. They were out of turkey for the chef salad so they offered me grilled chicken, then charged me for me for it. Once I realized that, they did refund me so that was ok. But don't offer it in place of something you're out of and then charge! The salad was ok but hard to eat due to the small lettuce pieces. Then there was the moldy tomato on my salad. Had such a great visit to Ruby's this last weekend which was perfect on a nice sunny day. We came on a Saturday around 12:30 and luckily it wasn't too busy. The atmosphere is great with a cool interior and tons of seating both indoor and out. We had our dog with us so opted to sit outside where she could enjoy a meal as well. The seating and setup is quaint and charming. The family running the place are very kind and has everyone involved in helping the place run which is great to see. The menu is pretty expansive and has offerings for everyone ranging from soup, to sandwich, burger and more. We wound up going with the fish and chips and a burger a la carte. The fish and chips were great and just what we were looking for with a crispy exterior. The homemade tartar sauce was also delicious. The burger was tasty as well although maybe not quite as much punch for the jalepeno burger as I would have expected. All in all on a nice sunny day this place can't be beat. It's a beautiful area to stop in and have a meal and has ample seating for large groups or pups alike. Do note that getting to the actual restaurant can be a challenge with traffic rolling through the area but it's worth the visit. read more

We were there over the weekend and had a variety of meals with a large group (7). From the Prime Rib to the Turkey sandwich we were blown away with how great everything tasted. They smoke all of their meats in house and the service was very friendly. The outside seating is really nice (and hidden) and much larger that what can be seen from the street. The only issue is getting in and out with traffic, but well worth the effort! Enjoy :) read more

Always curious about this place as its right there when you come in to Seaside traveling NB on 101. Its dog friendly and we were traveling with our dogs. They only allow outside - not inside. The menu was expansive and options for entire family - including pup patties. Pricing was reasonable. Service was quick and efficient. In better weather, it would be great to go back with the dogs as there is a lot of outdoor area. We met the owner - super sweet and loved on our dogs! Definitely try it out! We came in Saturday night of Labor Day weekend, it was busy but we were able to find seating right away. It's counter service where you order at the register and find a table. I was hoping to have Prime Rib as I saw that they had it on weekends on their outdoor sign, but we realized when we pulled up that they only have it on Friday nights. Employees were all friendly, from people behind the counter to bussers, very pleasant and helpful. Food definitely left something to be desired. My husband had the guacamole bacon burger special, he said the guacamole was good and the bacon portion was decent but the bun was so over toasted that it was crunchy, which was a shame because it looked like a nice brioche bun. My kids ordered a grilled cheese and cheeseburger and sadly all of our French fries were very overdone. I ordered the special (and last order) of 1/2 rack Blackberry baby back ribs. The ribs were nicely smoked, very tender, but unfortunately I was not a fan of the seasoning. The blackberry sauce was okay, but the ribs were doused in mustard, and the seasoning/rub was overpowering. I'm not positive but it maybe was too cumin heavy? There was definitely some spice in there that stood out and felt really strong. It certainly could have been a bad day in the kitchen, everything felt like it had good potential but wasn't quite executed right. Came here to check it out, as we noticed it when driving into Seaside. We have two pups and when we found out that Ruby's was not only dog tolerant, but dog friendly, we knew this was somewhere we needed to try. There's plenty of seating indoors and outdoors, and even had a large grass area to relax. Got the Cabo Burger and fish and chips. The fish and chips had a flaky crust but the fish was still soft and moist! Tots were perfectly cooked with the soft interior but a great crunch to bite. They were seasoned well to my liking, but could be a little on the salter side for some. Will definitely come back if in the area and would recommend to anyone who has pups or wants to see pups and wants something lowkey and to relax while enjoying good food and soaking in everything Seaside has to offer. read more

Great burger spot right off the highway! In a very cool retro building. Maybe an old gas station? Nice outdoor seating on the side with a fire pit and out back with corn hole. Dog friendly. I love this little roadside grill. It's cute - the branding is on point, the logo, the font, the menu etc it's just got a nice aesthetic and vibe. It has a great location for making a stop as you're headed in or out of town. They've got plenty of parking and a nice outdoor space where you can walk around and stretch your legs before getting back on the road. On this occasion we stopped for lunch after waking at Cannon Beach. We ordered tots, hot dogs and a salad. We were forewarned that it would be about a 30 minute wait for our food and it was accurate but we didn't mind. We enjoyed the view and reviewed the menu options to decide what we'd order on our next visit. Anyway, the tots were perfectly cooked, nice and crisp on the outside and salted to perfection. The Chicago dog was incredible. I personally prefer mustard on my hot dogs (not ketchup) and the relish, onions and tomatoes were nice and fresh. My husband got the coney dog which is basically an open face chili dog, which was super filling. No complaints. The service was cool for what it was. I rarely give 5 stars, but Ruby's truly deserves it! We're not into the whole IPA/brew movement, so this is strictly for the food and service. Fabulous variety of burgers! Friend had the Ruby Deluxe, no cheese, add bacon: I had the Hawaiian and both came with a ton of seasoned fries! Both absolutely delicious!!! But the Crab & Corn Chowder was the starting glory for me!!! It's more brothy and was packed full of crab, red potatoes, corn & celery. Best soup I've had in forever!!! I never give a review after just one visit to a new eatery, I have to visit at least 5 times to truly get a grasp of what they have to offer. And consistency in service and quality of food cannot be shown in just one visit. So with this, I must say that with my multiple visits, they MORE THAN deserve a 5 star review. So, the ambiance is just fantastic. It doesn't get any cooler than an old gas station being turned into a "roadside grill". Lots of natural light, roll up garage doors for an indoor/outdoor eating experience. The open kitchen is super cool. It's awesome to see chef Tommy back there at work, making you an awesome meal. Plenty of seating outside and they are even super welcoming to your furry friends. They have a DOG menu!! Get your dog a hot dog, burger patty or a chicken breast, doesn't get any better than that. The food is absolutely off the hook! Every time you eat here, it is CONSISTENT! They even use Brisket Wagyu burger patty's. And Chef Tommy is incredible, always coming up with great and creative specials. I honestly highly recommend just coming in and getting whatever special they're running, because I promise you, it'll be fantastic. The mushroom Swiss burger is my personal favorite, especially when paired with the Garlic Parmesan "side winders"! ***you must try the side winders!!!*** So to sum it up, if you haven't been here, you're quite honestly missing out. Located on the way to seaside promenade, Ruby grill is a great option if you want to avoid the busy beachside food joints. Good Burgers and would say the go to item. After constant letdowns of expectations this weekend, we decided to try something alittle more normal. We came into Ruby's with low expectations and we're blown away. We had the mushroom Swiss burger and southwest sandwich. The mushrooms were very plump and sautéed well. The Swiss blanketed the caramelized onions and mushrooms perfect and was cheesy the whole time. The burger was cooked slightly crispy but also held its juices pretty well. The lettuce and tomato slices were very fresh as well. Probably top 10 burgers I've ever had. The root beer float was a root beer float so good of course. We also had the crab and corn chowder. I will say after reading a lot of reviews and raves on this, I thought it was just okay and that's coming from someone who's favorite food is corn. I've noticed Ruby's a few times while passing through, so we finally stopped in last Sunday for lunch. We were again passing through in the camper van, so we ordered take-out. They have a pretty decent menu, a huge version posted outside at their cute patio. We ordered fish n chips and a burger to share. The service was very friendly, and the food came out piping hot. The burger was a good size and cooked to order. The fish came with 3 pieces, not huge portions, but well seasoned and not too greasy. The fries accompanying both were your typical crinkle fries, but a good amount provided with each meal. They have a decent amount of parking, and everything was very clean...inside and out, including the bathrooms. It had quite some time we'd been to Ruby's and we are locals, however today 3/14 was a beautiful day in Seaside to eat outdoors along with "Fido". So on to Ruby's. One of the specials today was the Monster Burger, 1lb juicy patty, bacon, ham, onions, lettuce tomato dressing oh, and a couple fried eggs, pickle and fries on the side.
