My Old English Bulldog Rudy approves of Ruby's.

Dog friendly...so much they have pup cups and a small dog menu. Human food is not bad at all. Good place to stop with your four-legged friend. Place is clean, plenty of seating and outdoor area. We would come here again as we bring our dog everywhere.

Had such a great visit to Ruby's this last weekend which was perfect on a nice sunny day. We came on a Saturday around 12:30 and luckily it wasn't too busy. The atmosphere is great with a cool interior and tons of seating both indoor and out. We had our dog with us so opted to sit outside where she could enjoy a meal as well. The seating and setup is quaint and charming. The family running the place are very kind and has everyone involved in helping the place run which is great to see. The menu is pretty expansive and has offerings for everyone ranging from soup, to sandwich, burger and more. We wound up going with the fish and chips and a burger a la carte. The fish and chips were great and just what we were looking for with a crispy exterior. The homemade tartar sauce was also delicious. The burger was tasty as well although maybe not quite as much punch for the jalepeno burger as I would have expected. All in all on a nice sunny day this place can't be beat. It's a beautiful area to stop in and have a meal and has ample seating for large groups or pups alike. Do note that getting to the actual restaurant can be a challenge with traffic rolling through the area but it's worth the visit.

This is the second time in two years we've ate here. Very clean environment and bathroom. Service was friendly and the fish and chips are SO good.

It deserves its good yelp rating. Had the ruby deluxe with both mayo and smoky sauce like they recommended and the root beer freeze, the burger was good, solid and they even cut it in half for my wife and myself on two separate plates. The freeze was halfway between a float and a blizzard. Inside was clean, beautiful wooden picnic tables. A little low but overall a nice woodsy vibe. We ordered at the door and the cashier was very pleasant. I do recommend this place!

They were out of turkey for the chef salad so they offered me grilled chicken, then charged me for me for it. Once I realized that, they did refund me so that was ok. But don't offer it in place of something you're out of and then charge! The salad was ok but hard to eat due to the small lettuce pieces. Then there was the moldy tomato on my salad. They had to see it when they cut it, yet they served it anyway. Mushroom Swiss burger that my mom had was so well done that it was inedible halfway through.

Started eaten before the photo. Freaking delicious. The Flash fried Brussel sprouts have bacon bits too

Ok I have never been to ruby's until today. My best friend told me about the Brussel sprout appetizer the other day and made them sound so good so of coarse I had to try them. So I ordered those and the garlic mozzarella fries to share with my co worker. When I walked in to pick up my order everyone was all smiles and just a good vibe in general. Now I'm back at work eating the food with my coworker and we are both obsessed. So delicious. I have to give credit where credit is do. Thanks for a great first impression!

Lots of parking and outdoor and indoor seatings. Food priced reasonable. Many selections to choose from, I like my Mushroom burger. The lettuce is fresh and the burger is juicy and good flavor. Everything self serve and casual. Wouldn't mind come back for a quick bite next time when in town.

Cobb salad w/ crab & corn chowder

Went here because it's dog friendly, however, the outdoor seating was not convenient to eat there so we ended up taking our food Togo. We ordered a couple burgers, cobb salad and the crab & corn chowder. The food was good, but probably won't return here.

Always curious about this place as its right there when you come in to Seaside traveling NB on 101. Its dog friendly and we were traveling with our dogs. They only allow outside - not inside. The menu was expansive and options for entire family - including pup patties. Pricing was reasonable. Service was quick and efficient. In better weather, it would be great to go back with the dogs as there is a lot of outdoor area. We met the owner - super sweet and loved on our dogs! Definitely try it out! We will be back

Ask the Community - Ruby's Roadside Grill

I am curious about their prime rib. I'd like to know how it is prepared and served? Thank you and how much does it cost?

Last time we ordered it was served on a disposable platter. Ok but not a great meal

Do they allow dogs inside or only on the patio?

I have seen dogs other than Ruby inside!

Do they still do yard games? What month does this usually start?

We had a group of 7, and this is exactly our situation. It seemed chilly in the main dining room (2nd week of October) so the hostess offered to seat us in the lounge, where they have a nice, toasty fireplace. It was also a little more private. We could be as loud as we wanted but could also hear each other when the conversation became more serious. Everybody was happy with their food. I got chilaquiles, which was pretty good. It was 6:30 pm on a weeknight and the place was only half full. It still took a waitress over 10 minutes to come by, where she asked if we were ready to order dinner. No water, no drinks or apps offered. We ordered a Moscato and a beer sampler along with ceviche. The ceviche was very good with a slight bite to it. The Moscato was flat and obviously opened long ago. The beers were fine. I also ordered a cup of clam chowder that was excellent. Best part of the meal. Our entrees of fried oysters and halibut fish and chips came quickly. The GF felt the oysters were too heavily battered for her taste, the fish and chips were quite good. Waitress came back to check on us when we were almost finished eating. Had to go track her down to get our check. Another restaurant that survives on tourist volume and not quality of product or service. Wouldn't go back - though the chowder was tasty.

We…read moresat at the bar and had a lovely conversation with a local, whose daughter is employed there for the summer. Friendly, family kind of place, even if it's a sports bar. I ordered the Malibu Barbie cocktail ($8), a pink sweet drink that deserved a second! Husband had an Alaskan Amber draft, a safe choice but also $8 which seems a bit high for a draft beer. After letting the drinks percolate for a bit we ordered dinner. Husband chose a small pepperoni pizza ($15) which was not small at all. Nice robust crust, super crunchy edges with lots of bubbles. Thick cheese, 8 slices and the pepperoni was appropriately browned on the edges. Nice bar pie! I chose the shrimp tacos ($18) on corn tortillas with chips and queso as my side. The shrimp were well seasoned and perfectly grilled. Topped with a little cotija cheese and pico, and an inoffensive white drizzle of Baja sauce they had together through the consumption process. I really liked the side of queso, not completely orange fake cheese like some places. That second Malibu Barbie cocktail has affected my recall of events after the meal, but we settled the bill and headed off to walk off the calories along the Promenade.

Two guitar pickers who traveled all the way from Arkansas were playing elevated folk rock on electric guitars to a crowd of maybe 14. Clearly a locals crowd, the last set was a twenty minute encore, and a local musician joined on the drum kit. Owner too? Awesome! I had a sangria in a Mai Tai flavor with coconut and pineapple, it was spectacular. Like nothing I have tasted before, and leaving me wanting to try ALL SIX flavors! Big Kahuna Pub and Grill has been serving Seaside since around 2007, and somehow it still feels like one of those hidden little local secrets you have to hunt down to find. The place is small, busy, and definitely popular with the locals, so things might take a little longer when the crowd rolls in, but honestly that is part of the charm. Everybody seemed friendly, laid back, and happy to be there. Five stars just for the atmosphere and kindness alone. And then there is the Bloody Mary. Good grief. The thing comes stacked with enough food to count as lunch, including the famous burger sitting right on top. It is one of those ridiculous creations that sounds crazy until you see one go by and suddenly every single person in the restaurant wants one. Their Bloody Marys have basically become coast legend status at this point. The menu itself is pretty simple and straightforward, burgers, comfort food, drinks, nothing overly fancy, just solid beach town food done right. Sometimes those are the best kinds of places anyway. If you are wandering around Seaside and want something that feels more local than touristy, give this little hidden gem a try. It may be tucked away, but they have definitely made a name for themselves.
