Love love love Reinhold's bakery! As an authentic German style bakery they do not disappoint. It is located in a small shopping center with easy parking. The service is fantastic. They really are patient as I have not been in years and they were nice enough to let me try a few of the pastries and cookies I ended up buying. Reinhold's is the best place for a for a Linzer tart they sell both small sizes and oversized versions. My favorites are these braided glazed cinnamon rolls known as "yum yums"! The meringue cookies are also a sweet cheat treat to enjoy as well. There is no bad dessert coming from this bakery. Service is great. A must try in the local area! read more

Reinhold's is a great bakery. I should have reviewed it years ago. They've supplied the grand finale to every Oktoberfest dinner my family has hosted. They make an Apple strudel that is truly memorable. As in, my friend and I talk about it from time to time, just waiting to have it again. Well, today was the day, my friend and his family were over and I picked up the Apple strudel. I didn't take any chances, you have to get there early (or order it ahead of time) to make sure they have it. Half a strudel is enough for four diners, you'll wish you got the whole thing! The texture is immaculate, crisp and tender, flaky and unctuous. The flavor is perfection, the apples have reached the peak of their potential. It was everything we remembered and then some! The "risk" you run when you walk into Reinhold's for the strudel is that you come out with much more. The "yum yums" that they sell live up to their name, the butter crumb danish was ridiculously good, the almond horns are fantastic. It's an incredible array of treats. Highly recommend you get yourself the Apple strudel and compound it with some other selections, you'll be glad you did! read more

This bakery has been a staple in my life for over 40 years. Growing up in North Jersey, I have been coming here and have never been disappointed. The parking lot always has an open space or two and shares the strip mall with an Italian restaurant, a dry cleaner a cellphone store, and a kids gym. It is located right off of Franklin Turnpike and is always keeping their customers happy. I have gotten anything and everything from here and have never been disappointed. I have purchased cupcakes for my niece and nephews, bread for breakfast, (big fan of the rye) and cakes for multiple birthdays. My favorite thing that they make though has got to be their chocolate chip cookies. They have that perfect combination of chewy and a little firm. While we are in a staffing crisis, I always feel that I am receiving the top-of-the-line customer service, and always greeted with a smile. Keep up the great work team. read more

Disappointing as they aren't what they used to be. The apple strudel i bought on a Sunday was filled with mold by Monday .. sadly we had already eaten half of it .. barf. 6 months ago the lemon merengue tarts were rancid and smelled so bad and merengue was hard as a rock. I stopped in after reading reviews about this bakery and living a few towns away. Definitely not disappointed. They're jelly donuts with cinnamon are maybe the best ones I've ever had. I also ordered an almond ring and seedless rye. I would rate the almond ring and rye bread an 8 out of 10. I thought the texture and the flavor was near perfect. However, I thought they were a little bit dense and heavy where they should've been a little more airy. The staff was exceedingly friendly and very efficient. Was it worth the ride? Definitely . My absolute favorite bakery. I used to come here as a kid with my parents, Mrs. Reinhold made my wedding cake, and now I bring my kids here. Years ago, a friend in NYC was floored when I showed him a picture and told him what I paid for the beautiful butter cream ribboned cake Mrs. Reinhold designed. It was an original, something she "had never tried before, but came out well". Reinhold's is a cute little bakery on Franklin Turnpike. They are friendly and were patient as my son and I chose which cookies and other treats we wanted. They have nicely decorated cookies and pastries. I tried cookies, a butterfly and some bow ties. All were fresh and tasty. Next time I'd like to try a cup of coffee and some different types of cakes. I've been going to Reinhold's since 1966, so when I tell you that this is a great bakery, believe it. They make beautiful wedding cakes, heavenly, crusty bread, mouthwatering cookies and all the other goodies you'd expect from a great bakery. In my humble opinion, their standouts are their onion rolls, salt sticks and a diabolical creation they call a "Yum-Yum". "Yum-Yums" are aptly named. These rich, sweet, cinnamony pastries are so incredibly good that I'll travel all the way from South Brooklyn to get a dozen! They're made with an eggy bread dough that's slathered with cinnamon and brown sugar, twisted into a figure eight and then deep-fried (probably in lard) and then bathed in a sugar glaze. Damn, they're good! Seriously, this place, which has been in the same location for over 50 years, is worth a trip from anywhere! read more

Lack of a regard for sanitary food handling. I ordered a dozen donuts and while the counter attendant did attempt use a piece of wax paper to pick them up, she failed to actually keep it between her fingers and the food. She touched the back of every donut with her bare fingers and even picked the last one up entirely without the wax paper. This is an egregious violation of NJ Food Safety laws and very disappointing to experience from a bakery I have frequented for the past 35+ years, even regularly driving from 1 hour away just to get the amazing donuts and meltaways I have enjoyed since I was a toddler. Very disappointing on several fronts. First, quality of product and ingredients was subpar. Stale, flavorless...they must think that you can put sugar and icing on anything and that makes it taste good...in their case, it does not work. Moreover, we ordered a cake several weeks in advance for an important occasion, it was a disaster and their sole response was to suggest that we buy another cake - no accountability, no responsibility. Not the neighborhood bakery that your grandparents went to ... so they beat into buying 2 cakes at the last minute - neither of which tasted good. Not worth a visit. Beware of the ADDITIVES that are used!! There are two additives to many foods (baked goods, salad dressings, sweet and sour sauce, etc) called Guar gum and XANTHUM (gum). These additives are totally unnecessary and research shows some possible harmful results of ingesting these. Many people according to my allergist have reactions to one or both of these. I get a mild reaction in my lips swelling up and losing feeling. Allergic reactions can become stronger over time. This bakery uses one or both as "thickeners" in its "base" for baked goods. Blueberry muffin batter already has a naturally thick batter and would not benefit from these additives. When I suffered a reaction from the muffins I asked and the sales lady who went and talked to the baker whose family has had the business for decades. When she came back confirming the use of this unnecessary unhealthy stuff she said the family has had the bakery for 60 years and it was an old recipe I stated that I doubt these additives were around 60 years ago and they are not necessary and I have baked my own goods including muffins for years without adding artificial junk. The baker never came out as I believe he/she should. The sales lady didn't show any sympathy for my swollen mouth. The convenience of buying baked goods is no longer a possibility that I wish to have. I will not be buying anything at the bakery ever again. read more

Just to echo what other reviews said, the quality is good, but the service is terrible. Mainly the older lady who worked during the morning on weekdays. It seems like she would rather be anywhere but there and anything you do or ask is an inconvenience. She wasn't even busy. I guess she just wanted to go back to staring into space. Great stuff but unfortunately a miserable staff. Complete sour pusses and they make you feel unwelcome. They are so miserable in fact that there are times I don't bother going in there because I don't want to deal with their attitude or the smug look on their faces. Such a shame. Some people do not understand that when you are in a service business you need to be pleasant and appreciate your customers and serve them with a smile and a friendly attitude. Ordered a carrot cake for my boss' birthday, he said it was the BEST he has ever had in 25 years! Mind you, I also carted it on NJ Transit in a bag with dry ice into Lower Manhattan. Yes, they get busy - but I have never felt rushed; even when with my undecided 4yo old. As soon as you walk in you know this is a good bakery. Between the smell and large number of employees on a early Thursday afternoon. I do agree with one other reviewer that the employees are surly. I went in just to check it out, then felt obliged to try a goody. I tried a tea biscuit and it was worth every bite. Its like a smooth scone. It was so tasty and fresh.
