Millers has such great pastries especially their cheese danish those go so fast -I have also bought their mini chocolate covered cannolis-they fill them fresh per your order. She was also rushing to leave- I have noticed that you are closing at 650 pm , if you say open until 7 then you should open until 7pm. This bakery has been in this town for as long as I remember. The only thing I ever get here is their cheese danish and coffee. Not that I don't like anything else, it's that I'm freaking crazy about cheese danish. Anytime I go into a bakery I look for them before anything else. If they have them then it's what I'm getting, and Miller's always has them. They make a big one for 9.95 that lasts me at least a couple of days. They also make a large cappuccino with an extra shot that is really good. Most places won't make you a large cappuccino so for that I choose Miller's when I want a big cup of coffee. The servers are always pleasant and professional and they have ample seating if you want to sit and enjoy your coffee. The spot is quiet so if you're looking for a nice quiet spot then this is the place for you. read more

Ordered the oreo cake for a birthday and overall it was very disappointing and tasted old. The cake felt like a super market cake, yet somehow worse. Where to begin, aesthetically the cake looks delicious, but sadly that is not the case. The oreos itself tasted a bit old, makes one wonder how old the cake actually is. My biggest con with the cake was the amount of icing. There was almost more icing than there was cake. The actual cake part itself was meh and didn't taste fresh, it was a bit dry. I would have liked it to be denser/moister. If you like a lot of icing then maybe this is the cake for you. Three stars, was the consensus, and it seems correct. The staff here is patient, even with wandering tweens who can't figure out how to spend a few bucks even if you give them half and hour. And there are some good things here when they're fresh - brownies, cakes, and the like. But there are also things that are not fresh. Cookies, for example. Kids love cookies. Kids are not gourmet eaters. That does not mean you can sell me stale cookies for my kids. So yeah, some good, some bad, some you really ought to know better. Very disappointing. Picked up a few things for the holiday and didn't like any of them. The Key Lime Pie -the crust was hard and had no flavor, it was more like a lemon meringue pie but with lime. Inside was very bland. An Oreo Yule log was next on the list. It looked nice but the icing was sugary sweet and the cake had no flavor and was very dry. Last was the apple strudel. Pastry was raw and apple filling was not mixed well so there were spots with very plain tart apple and spots that were full of cinnamon and sugar. We go here often as we live close. When the items are fresh they're delicious. The BEST Cannoli's! And my husband loves the coffee cakes and B&W cookies. Sometimes the cakes aren't as fresh - they bake at another location I think. So check when it was made! Good for crumb cake too! read more

We are long-time Millers customers. Their baked goods are thoughtfully made and consistently delicious. Ani and Kristina, the weekday counter-workers, are always friendly and helpful, and we enjoy chatting with them. The custom cakes we order are always made to perfection. I would give them zero stars if I could. So I placed a pickup order for Easter on Grubhub. Paid on line, got a pickup time, even left a nice tip. I go to pick it up and... They don't know where it is. First they said I had the wrong location. No my receipt said Tenafly. Then they said the guy delivered it. I even called the house to see. Nope. Not delivered. Then they said they could fill it, but didn't have... No thanks. So I asked them to just refund the order. They don't know how so here it is Easter afternoon, I have no desserts to bring home, I am on hold with Grubhub thanks to Miller's. Thanks guys. Recently, I gave Millers Bakery in Tenafly another try. If only they provided fresh baked goods with simple, natural ingredients that made them tasty. They would have loyal customers waiting in line to purchase baked goods. Me included! The young employee who assisted me was the most positive thing about my recent experience at the Tenafly location. Three items I purchased out of four were dreadful. Those of us who, not just bake, but enjoy eating, know the taste difference between a cookie made from "scratch" with simple ingredients and a cookie that's composition is different. Why does a giant chocolate chip cookie, an easy thing to make, not have a delicious taste at Millers Bakery? The consistency of the large choc chip cookie I purchased lacked pleasant cookie flavor, was powdery, meaning no crumbs, and the cookie left a powder residue wherever it was placed. I purchased two brownies. Both lacked the flavorful taste that chocolate and fudge provide. Frosting was minimal. read more

I feel this place is going downhill. I have been a regular several times a week customer. There are times when cookies were hard, price for a Chinese Cookie went from $1.78 to $2.50 , I just had an apple turnover and next to no apple pieces in it and when I complained the help shrugs there shoulders and says the owners never listen to them. Miller's just underwent a terrible renovation. firstly the nice front window seats were removed and replaced with a very narrow counter facing the wall. It looks like time out in school! Parts of the walls are now a dark brown which would be better in a bar or lobster place and not in a bakery. and in honor of the dreadful renovation samples were cancelled. Whoever was behind this poor renovation should never design anything again! The owners obviously could care less about what the customers think. read more

I'm only writing this review because I think customer service is as important as the product you are buying, and their c.s. was not good. In early December I emailed Millers Bakery Tenafly a request for a cake. I knew it was an odd request which is why I emailed it in the first place. It was pretty straightforward when you were looking at it on paper. In addition, I called a day later to discuss with someone at the store - all was good. Since this was a birthday cake for my father in law who was visiting from Ireland, I wanted him to have what he wanted. Long story short - we asked for a vanilla cake with two layers. Each layer was to have strawberry preserves, and whipped cream. There was to be absolutely no frosting, fondant, whipped cream on the outside. Nothing! So the day arrives, and my daughter picks it up without looking at it. When she got home I opened it up, and each of the two layers have only strawberry preserves (no whipped cream) and there was whipped cream all over the outside of the cake. I was so shocked and disappointed. Actually quite annoyed. It wasn't like I didn't make sure I explained what we were looking for before hand. I called up the store, and had a hard time finding someone to speak to. Finally a few hours later I called again, and they had the owners wife call me back. The apology was lacking - she sounded disinterested, I asked for a refund - except for two slices no one ate the cake including my father in law. She offered a store credit instead which was fine as we always get our holiday desserts, and cookie trays there so I would use the credit later that week. A few days later I went in to buy our cookie trays, and the owners wife was there. She knew who I was as she could tell the cashier immediately what the amount of the credit was. She never acknowledged me, never said hello, never said I'm so sorry this happened - nothing. Just spoke to the cashier like I didn't exist. I thought she was rude, and showed a lack of interest in my business. It was poor customer service. So after many, many years being our go to for birthdays, Christenings, Communions, Confirmations, graduations, weddings and any other occasion that called for cake or desserts I won't be going back to Millers Bakery. read more

I ordered a special candyland cake from Millers and boy they did a great job! I had an elaborate idea of a candyland theme and I provided the candy, but Millers delivered on making that vision real! I was completely overwhelmed when I saw it being delivered but I want to thank the two workers who put the beautiful cake in my car!! And my husband was completely floored by the details of the cake . It was delicious and the entire party was complementing the taste and look of the cake!! Are you kidding? I stared at the cashier, who served me a "large" coffee only 2/3 full. It had barely more coffee than my uncle's which was a "small". Cashier: Would you like me to fill it to the brim with decaf? I'd have to make a fresh pot to give you more regular. It's exactly the same as regular. Me: Yeah, except with no caffeine in it. Cashier: But it would, since you already have a whole glass with caffeinated coffee... We just left. Great local bakery in Tenafly that we've been patronizing for 3 generations. Excellent breakfast cakes, breads, rolls, cookies, etc. My personal favorites are the pecan danish (tons of pecans, very fresh) and the apricot danish. My Dad always loved the fruit buns. Small selection of lunch items. Ice cream. Don't forget the delicious coffees, including cold brews. One of the highlights of a day for me is going to Miller's in the morning for coffee and breakfast cake and chatting with the wonderful staff. They're the best! read more

Bakery owner, please see my comments below as CONSTRUCTIVE... Very clean place, the cheese-filled Almond Danish tastes great heated up. In the seating area, however, it would be great if they replace the old, stained rug under the old couch. Also, all the booths' seats are covered in duct tape, really unsightly and embarrassing for a nice looking bakery at the front of the house. The smaller dining tables are fine and very clean. This dirty and stained garbage container NEXT TO THE OLD COUCH either has to be cleaned DAILY or removed. Also, I don't want to hear sports playing on this TV in the dining area. I'd rather they have relaxing French or Italian or even coffeehouse music playing throughout the bakery. That would be excellent, I'm sure more customers would come in to relax with "coffee and cake" to get away from the hustle & bustle of the outside world. Now the good stuff! The girls behind the counter are accommodating, polite and work very well, not on their phones texting. Very professional. I can see that they care about their jobs and the bakery, thereby respecting their employer. The owner should give them a raise or a very generous bonus @ Christmas time. It's very, VERY difficult to find bakery employees who care and do not fool around on work hours. Writing from experience here... The lighting is good, soft sconces in the dining area, and warm recessed lighting over the front counter. The wall paint color throughout is perfect, not stark, dark, or overbearing. It would be cool if the floors were redone to give it a rich shine, it would add value to the place, but not imperative. There's a ramp to the dining area for those in wheelchairs or who cannot use the steps. Damn, they really got to get rid of this old rug... And thank goodness the restrooms are a bit out of the way of the dining area. That's always a plus! All in all, I recommend Miller's Bakery, it's a great place and I definitely would come again. read more
