I have my coffee and buttered roll every weekday here and have for the past 12 years.. The best Kaiser Rolls anywhere and the coffee is fantastic. All the cakes and pastries are fabulous....always fresh For those who claim that they are not fresh, I am there every morning at 6:00 A.M when they open, and they are bringing in ALL the products from the Cliffside Park Ovens..ALL products not sold on the day are donated and picked up the next morning by Food Bank, VFW, etc. Store is spotless and the owners and staff friendly and helpful. read more

Maybe I was just there on an off day. Was looking for a chocolate croissant. The staff said they didn't have any, and recommended the strawberry and cheese croissant. unhappily it was absurdly stale and hollow, and any strawberry or cheese that had once been present had dried out long before. Not too bad in price but unfortunately terrible in taste.. I got a small bag of cookies the other day, and they were really disappointing. I'm a big fan of chocolate-dipped cookies filled with jam (Veniero's in NYC makes my fave.) but the jam filling tasted like the sticky jelly part of a Nerds rope (candy). Been to Miller's Bakery a handful of times. Must admit I am never disappointed. ALWAYS walk out with either the Napoleon or Bavarian Creme Pie (sometimes both). Haven't tried the donuts but sounds like I should. I've seen some other reviews bashing the coffee and staff. My experience was totally the opposite. read more

I ordered a cake for my sons birthday and it was missing a filling that was an extra charge and the owner only wants to credit me $10 when the cake cost me almost $80. If this is how they treat their customers then it shows how the quality of the baked goods are. This was by far the worst and most disappointing cake I have ever bought from any bakery. He said his decorators do make mistakes. So if they make mistakes then they should pay for the cake. His response to my email was a disgrace. This is what he wrote: Arlynn Thanks for the feedback.You will have a store credit of $10 or a $10 cash back.This is all we can do .I apologize for your disappointment .Our decorators do make mistakes as they did with your cake .These mistakes are not common as of last 6 months you have been the only customer to receive the wrong filling not once but twice.Once again thanks for for business and we do apologize . I got living social deal $25 for $50 and ordered my daughter her BD cake! The cake was Terrible! The cake cost $32 so I order something for the extra that I had left! I don't know why anyone shops at Miller's and I don't understand how it stays in business with its terrible customer service. Today I decided to give the place one more chance because Miller's emailed me a 15% off coupon. The two women working the day shift wouldn't honor it, and instead insisted I pay full price and keep calling them to ask them to try putting it in the computer again (because they can't be bothered to), and told me it was "inconvenient" to ask the boss to just give me the damn discount. When I said I didn't see what the problem was with asking "the boss" to make good on his own ad, they begrudgingly called him (I have no idea where he was hiding) and came back and said I needed a password. Maybe it's not a lot of money, but the laziness involved in selling baked good that aren't special and the lack of responsibility or concern . . . like I said,I don't know why anyone shops at Miller's and I don't understand how it stays in business. read more

I love this place. I recently changed offices and needed a new coffee place and this is it! Nothing fancy. Just great coffee hot or iced. The only other thing I tried was icecream and it was bleh. I was a bit skeptical when I walked in bc nothing was labeled and it looked like they were randomly displayed. But, buy anything and you'll be glad you did. Amazing strudels and danishes in every flavor! The cheese strudel reminded me of some baked goods I had in Europe. I love that they're not sickeningly sweet. This is it for Millers! I sense that the place that is now more a cafe than bakery. Perhaps cafe patrons are more apt to forgive stale offerings. This is the 3rd time I walked in and purchased from the case and it was stale. Last time it was seven layer cake and this time Crumb cake in the round shape. Before that it was a carrot cake. Ordered a special cake for my husband's birthday and it got great reviews from all of our guests: Mocha buttercream with Apricot jam filling and 'shadow' cake which is chocate and vanilla layers. It's a local, family-owned business which supports the community. Was glad that I decided to give them my birthday cake business and I will continue to do so. My husband and I have been long time patrons of Millers. We were huge fans of the Pecan Bavarian Cake. However, we will not be going back. My husband went in over the weekend to buy pastries and cupcakes. When we sat down to eat them Saturday evening, they were terrible. The cupcakes tasted old as did the mini eclairs. My husband actually spit his eclair out to discover that the cream on the inside was moldy. He picked these up on a Saturday morning! I would expect they should be the freshest on the weekend. I have no clue what these people are talking about. This is far and away the best bakery in New Jersey. Cakes as nice as Cake Boss at half the price and some of the best coffee and desserts anywhere. I have been going there for decades and know for a fact they make everything fresh. There is no better bakery around - i've tried them all. It's not close...there is a reason why Wyckoff and Hofstetters and Tenafly Bakery went belly up and these guys continue to grow. I believe the Millers in Cliffside has been around since the 1940's. Miller's has been in Tenafly a long time and was always quite good. Their original bakery was in Cliffside and their bakery goods were among the best in Bergen County. However, not so any more. Some really poor baking going on here. Recently bought hard rolls and the inside was as hard as the outside. They are not fresh and probably made from frozen dough. They had a delicious fruit ring with generous portions of five different fruits. No more, just bought one today with three fruits, lemon was the size of a quarter, cherry and pineapple the size of a half dollar. Where was the apple and blueberry. Sad. Pretty expensive for basically a dry danish. Is it the economy? If you want really excellent product choose another bakery. Spending the extra money at Miller's will not get you a superior baked product. read more

I have frequented all the other bakeries that came before this one at the same location, including Hofstetter's and Wyckoff Quality Bakery. This weekend I went to purchase cupcakes. I found three varieties that did not have turquoise colors with action figures on them. Each one of the three cupcakes I purchased had frosting made of fat. Not buttercream, just tasteless fat. Approximately six dollars for three (small) cupcakes with inedible frosting that had to be removed. I don't call that a bakery at all. read more

Millers Bakery has extremely delicious desserts. Really enjoy the Napoleon and Bavarian Cream Pecan Dessert. Also like the over-sized chocolate chip cookies with the chocolate drizzle on top. Their coffee is pretty good and comparable to chains like Starbucks. Their staff is usually very friendly. Overall clean, well-lighted place (ernest hemingway reference) that is a good place to read, do homework, etc. read more

Before I go to work I always make sure to stop at millers for coffee. The girls who work there are so sweet and hardworking. I wanted to show my appreciation by giving these girls a small tip but I was shocked and disheartened to find out that they weren't allowed to have a tip jar out. As a mother of 3 teens, 1 in college and the others approaching high school graduation, I strongly believe this is selfish of the owners. Any average human being would understand how important it is to encourage our kids to save money for college. I also bought a chocolate birthday cake for my son and was yet again disappointed with the taste. The cake was definitely not fresh and was dry on the inside. I also bought cookies for my nieces and nephews and they were rock solid and clearly old. From what I've experienced, the management is poor, and the food is not too great. However, I must say, the coffee, jelly donuts, and the sweet girls who work there is what brings me back. read more

Bought a birthday cake this morning for my 2 year old. This evening, we had it, and it tasted completely and totally freezer burnt. Looked at the slices, and their was blue green mold in the white cake. Will be calling them tomorrow. Never ever had mold in a cake from a bakery. Originally from Bensonhurst Brooklyn moving to NJ and missing those classic Italian bakeries was enough to break my heart. Now I am not saying anything could really take the place of those legendary Brooklyn bakeries but mi Ing first to Cliffside Pk, NJ and now Dumont and finding MIller's bakery in or in close vicinity to both those towns I can say I was more than presently surprised. One word tiramisu! It is just ad good certainly on par and brings me right back to a happy black and good memories. Not to mention everything there is amazing!!!! The fresh ice cream too! Creative and delicious and OMG how could I forget the first thing that really kept me coming back for more then even the iconic Italian treats but the Irish Soda bread!!!! OMG!
