Nice addition to the Ramsey Mahwah area. Plenty of parking in the lot out front in a brand new building. Tried the chocolate croissant and cinnamon roll. Both were fantastic and buttery. Can't wait to try some of their other options and maybe some bread. Very cool ambiance. Will try their coffee soon

Soggy mango tart

Here's the corrected version of your text: You should consider carefully before choosing this location. I had two different experiences: one was quite good, but the other was extremely disappointing. I ordered a mango tart and a decaf latte. The mango tart was a bit off, so I asked to exchange it for a brownie or something else. The staff member informed me that the tart had been made over the weekend--this was on a Wednesday--so it was understandable that the crust was a bit soggy. She mentioned that there was no manager available and she couldn't offer an exchange or a refund. The ambience is beautiful, and it's a great place for coffee, but I would recommend avoiding the pastries unless they're freshly made.

I had been trying to find time to stop in here and I'm so glad I did! The service is very quick and the girls at the counter were very friendly and eager to help me navigate the selection. I landed on the cinnamon roll bc they are my go to at any coffee house. It did not disappoint but I do think it would be better warmed up. Coffee is decent. I love the blue velvet chairs and French vibe the whole place is going for, music and all. Looking forward to trying more pastries in the future!

Wow, what an amazing place. After making their way through Bergen county they opened another spot right in Northern Bergen County. Set an a little shopping wall with ample parking this French bakery is as authentic as it comes. As soon as we entered, and we were greeted with a big smile. The inside has cute little seating areas, and I was told they open to the outside once the weather turns warm. Weather you are looking for a coffee, tea or hot cocoa they will make it fresh for you on the spot. Despite how many amazing looking pastries and desserts we opted for a couple of macaroons and the almond croissant. Macaroons were cooked perfectly. The croissant was warm as it had just come out of the oven. The filling is a thick custard with the almond paste. I actually prefer that over those with strictly almond paste. It is quite large, so can easily be between two people. For three macaroons and the almond croissant it came to roughly $13. I will definitely return when in the area.

The croissant was crisp and buttery! The pesto made everything fresh. Every bite was lovely.

Brand new and exciting place for sweetie treaties. It's big inside but even cooler is the garage-style door that I assume they'll keep open when it's warmer. They were super nice to my kids and patient as they ordered like toddlers order (slowly). We got a whole bunch of macarons, a chocolate chip cookie and some croissants (one regular and one chocolate). It's rare to find a croissant this close to perfect outside of Paris but here we are. Everything was amazing. Including the berets the staff were wearing unironically.

Decided to try this new pastry shop. Was very disappointed with the chocolate filled crescent. Very little chocolate in it.

Great food and happy hour French elegance…read more Great service We enjoyed sitting in the bar area , just great For a fast bite

Had an early Valentine's Day dinner with the wife the day before Valentine's Day. Brasserie Memere…read moreis an upscale French restaurant located in the Target plaza of Closter. The lighting is dim, the ambiance is intimate, and it looks romantic. I had made reservations so we were seated immediately. It's funny to note that the place settings were placed next to each other instead of across from each other at a four person table. We usually prefer to face each other, but when it's Valentine's day why not be cute? We ordered a few drinks during our dinner, the Sugar Plum Fairy, Memere 75, Avion en papier. My favorite was definitely the Avion en papier which had a slightly sweet, slightly bitter, citrusy taste. They had a pre fixe menu for Valentine's Day which unfortunately did not have the steak tartare i was interested in trying. But for $88, you get 3 courses: an appetizer, entree, and dessert. For our appetizers, we got the TARTARE DE THON (tuna tartare) and COCKTAIL DE CREVETTES GEANTES (shirmp cocktail). Between the two, i preferred the tuna tartare. The shrimp cocktail was good, but the only thing really special about it was the massive size of the shrimp and the freshly grated horseradish in the cocktail sauce. For our entrees, we got the CASSOULET DE CANARD and FILET MIGNON. The extremely tender duck leg confit was served with pancetta, white beans, toulouse sausage, and foie gras breadcrumb. It was rich, savory, fatty, and filling. All great words to describe food. The duck leg confit reminded me a little bit of a smoked turkey leg with the red coloring and shreddable texture. The filet mignon was served with pomme purée, wild mushrooms, and a bordelaise sauce. The filet was cooked medium rare as requested, but a bit under salted. The pomme purée aka mashed potatoes tasted like it was 50% butter so it was obviously delicious. Dessert was good, but my least favorite part of the meal. We got the TAHITIAN VANILLA CRÈME BRÛLÉE and the VALRHONA CHOCOLAT POT AU CRÈME. Both were very sweet. The brûlée crust did not shatter well, but it otherwise had a nice creamy texture. The chocolate pot was covered in flaky feuilletine which gave a nice contrast to the creamy chocolate, but my wife found the brandied cherries overpowering. The cherries made me think of German chocolate cake. Service was excellent. Staff was quick to refill water and checked on us constantly. Pace of the meal was relaxed and I'd even say they were slow to bring us the check since we had been dining for over 2 hours. My wife wants me to bring her back for their bottomless brunch on a Sunday so I will eventually be back.

Review: Café Faubourg - Montclair…read more Café Faubourg is one of Montclair's true gems--an authentic French bistro that feels as if it were lifted straight from a quiet Parisian street and placed right in the heart of town. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance sets the tone: warm lighting, intimate tables, and that unmistakable bistro charm that makes every meal feel like a small escape. The food is consistently excellent, starting with their hummus, which is surprisingly standout for a French spot. Smooth, flavorful, and beautifully plated, it's the perfect way to begin the meal and pairs wonderfully with their fresh bread. The steak frites is a must-order and easily one of the best in the area. The steak is tender and cooked exactly to preference, richly seasoned without being heavy, and served alongside crisp, golden fries that are everything you want in a classic bistro dish. It's simple, authentic, and prepared with the kind of care that elevates a traditional favorite into something memorable. Service at Café Faubourg is warm and attentive without being intrusive, contributing to the relaxed elegance of the experience. Whether you're dropping in for a casual dinner or celebrating a special occasion, the staff makes you feel welcome and unrushed. For anyone looking for an authentic French bistro experience in Montclair--excellent food, inviting ambiance, and truly charming service--Café Faubourg delivers every time.

My wife and I went here for her birthday celebration, and we love French restaurants…read more From the outset of the experience regarding the food and drinks, it is clear that Brasserie D is overpriced and underdelivers with taste. I ordered an old fashioned that came to the table red, and when I questioned the look the waiter assured me it was an old fashioned. Upon tasting it, it had the correct ingredients, but so little bourbon that the color and balance of the drink was off. Then, for the entrees, we both ordered the filet mignon au poivre. The steak was fine, as were the vegetables, but not worth $44 by any stretch. On top of that, the "frites" were clearly frozen rather than freshly made. The waiter was nice, and we enjoyed the ambiance. But we were blown away by the gap in quality of the food and its cost. When you visit French restaurants you expect a certain tier of cuisine that Brasserie seems to be emulating on the surface but swinging and missing on in reality. Not worth the visit unfortunately. Try elsewhere and you'll undoubtedly be more satisfied.

The arch-roofed dining room is absolutely charming, with whimsical colorful chandeliers and a warmth that pulls you right in. There's also a gorgeous globe-lit back patio that looks like it's seen some unforgettable evenings. BYOB at a restaurant this good? Yes. Take advantage of it. The menu is fixed-price, four courses with three options each -- simple, elegant, and unpretentious. Cash discount in March is a nice bonus too. Now the food -- where do I start. The **Roasted Candied Beets Carpaccio** was visually stunning and tasted even better. Blood Orange Balsamic Vinaigrette, Burrata, Prosciutto -- every flavor had its own moment. The **Crab Cake** was loaded with fresh, quality crab -- the chive oil pairing was spot on. But the showstopper? **Venison Wellington.** Tender, perfectly seasoned, and not something you see on many menus. I would order it again without hesitation. Finished with a peanut butter, chocolate and banana dessert paired with an espresso -- an absolutely perfect ending. The staff was warm, attentive, and somehow never made you feel rushed or hovered over. That's a gift. Easily one of the best dining experiences I've had. Highly recommend -- just bring your favorite bottle and your appetite.

Portions were just right for fine dining. Service on a Saturday night was very good, and the ambiance was dim, romantic, and perfect for the occasion. One thing I really appreciated was that no one was on their phones--it made the atmosphere feel more present (even felt a little awkward taking photos). Saddle River Inn has better food than most restaurants in the city. The ambience is rustic. It's like a big barn. Romantic if you want to take a date. BYOB. The service is impeccable. Shout out to general manager Andrew, and the wait team of James, Rick, and Rudy who took care of us all night. We started off with a crab cake, their new truffle grilled cheese, and their lobster roll which was a special. The lobster roll, prepared Maine style with caviar on top, was really delicious. The truffle grilled cheese could be skipped if you don't like an overwhelming truffle taste. And I've had better crab cakes but it was by no means bad. For entrees, my party of 3 split everything. We had the lamb chops, the scallops, the duck, butternut squash ravioli, and 2 lobster tail accompaniments along with a side of brussel sprouts. Each thing was better than the next. My favorite dish was actually the ravioli. Very creative flavors. For dessert, we had a toffee cake/pudding, peanut butter mousse, and scoops of brown butter and vanilla ice cream. All in, the bill came out to $445 and we brought our own beer and wine. After a nice 33% tip for exquisite service, I'd actually say this place is a bargain, relative to the quality of food you get, compared to a lot of NYC fine dining restaurants. It's pretty hard to get a reservation. But now that they opened up on Sunday evenings, you might have better luck! I will be back and I hope this review convinces others to try this restaurant. It's truly a gem in north Jersey.

With both à la carte options and a $44 Prix Fixe menu, we went for the prix fixe -- and it was the best decision of the day. A truly enchanting brunch that felt as if we had slipped away to a cozy café in Paris. The atmosphere was lively yet relaxed, with live soft jazz music setting the perfect tone. The staff was warm and attentive, anticipating every need -- even the bread served with a luxurious French butter with black sea salt was top notch. No land Lake served on their tables. Cocktails Bloody Mary -- perfectly mixed, bright and briny with just the right touch of horseradish Peach Bellini -- light, fruity, and beautifully balanced Appetizers Salmon Tartare -- diced fresh tuna , with a vibrant pesto sauce, served with crisp baguette toasts. Hubby opted for the Soup du jour, a comforting individual tureen of butternut squash soup, delicately garnished with sunflower seeds -- savory with just a hint of sweetness, the perfect bowl for a cold, rainy day. I had a few spoonfuls and can agree it was delicious and warming. Entrées So many options I really had a tough time picking one. So many classic French dishes, but the buckwheat crepe won out. A SMOKED SALMON CREPE Filled with chopped salade, in a buckwheat crêpe, sunny up egg. Great to the last bite. Husband continued with a French theme steak sandwich with brie cheese, pickle shallots, aioli, and pomme frites Dessert Chocolate Mousse -- airy, rich, and deeply satisfying; the perfect sweet finish. The waiter comes over with a huge tureen of chocolate mousse and scoops out a huge amount of it to add in your dessert plate . Quite the presentation. Paired with after-dinner drinks, this brunch was a seamless blend of French elegance and warmth -- every bite, every note of music, every detail thoughtfully done. A truly delightful experience we can't wait to repeat.
