Men's Sahara Shade Hoodie, by REI Co-op.
Quinn N.

+ Pleasant ambience for some outdoor gear shopping. + Nicely located in the beautiful shopping plaza Tustin Market Place. + Polite, helpful staff. - But unfortunately, the staff are not fully cognizant of their store's deals. See the attached photo mentioning 20% off for any REI Co-op brand item just for subscribing to texts. One associate thought it was for credit card sign-up, another thought it was only for 15% off. + Thankfully they were patient and open-minded to hear me out. - Almost everything here's exorbitant! . Even with all available discounts. + But I bought a really cool, thin, moisture-wicking, stretchy hoodie. Feels very comfortable. Must be good for jogging, hiking, and playing pickleball. So cool!

This review is for Darren in the bicycle department! Actually, all the guys in the bicycle department were amazing and knowledgeable, but Darren was the lucky guy to help us pick out a bicycle. He was honest and open about the different types of bikes, effortlessly brought it down and helped us, and was informative about the perks and benefits. He is a great team player and we got a new bike! Yay!

Good store. Good parking. Sale was happening which made the line to back of the store. If you are having a sale, call in all your sales staff. My friend was able to get all the things she needed for a 10 day backpacking experience through New Zealand. Store was very stocked with all types of items. Wished there was more Arc'teryx items to choose from. But overall I think all the granola types will love this location.

As a recent shopper at REI, my recent experience left me disappointed. I came in to make my purchase and the cashier asked me about my membership which I did not have. After the whole conversation about membership benefits, they told me I would receive a big cash back due to my $400+ purchase. Come to find out later that I did not receive any membership cash back benefits due to the items being slightly on sale. Overall disappointed for not only lying to me about receiving cash back, but also not explaining that the points cannot be used until February of 2026 (next year) which was not mentioned until I asked AFTER the purchase was made. Either the cashier was misinformed or intentionally misleading, but either way it is unacceptable. When you're paying for a membership, the least you can expect is clear and honest information. I hope REI improves their employee training and ensures their staff actually understands the benefit of the membership they are selling.

Are backpacks rented out at this location?

They sure are! Call the store to get the latest update on inventory.

How big is Tustin REI store?

I regard it as a "big" store, but that is, of course, relative. It's about half to three quarters the size of a regular largish big city supermarket. I don't work there and don't know the exact square footage. If you compare it to other outdoor… Read more

Is this an outlet?

No, it is not. It is a regular REI store. Check REI.com for full details on services.

Good selection of running shoes?

Yes, absolutely. And in general the people who work here with the shoes, really know their shoes. They'll be able to field a lot of different questions as they all use their own products.

Is the garage sale still happening at 8 a.m. today, 3/13/2020?

No, it was canceled.

Is there have Arctery?

Yes, they do have Arc'teryx products.

The taxidermy is beautiful, and I had no idea they would actually have live fish inside their building. It's a remarkable establishment. It felt like a football field inside. This is definitely THE place for outdoor enthusiasts and folks who fish, hunt, camp, and so on. They have BOGO 40% Costa sunglasses. I ended up getting a 3-piece utility box crate. Customer service was standard, but I was mostly taken away by the beauty of nature, and of course, I had to donate to the conservation fund. I'll have to do more research on what entails, but there is so much to dive through and explore here.

Internally it has a very high ceiling and a large selection of items to look at. They also had some taxidermied animals which were cute and an aquarium with some freshwater fish in it. The other members of my party were not impressed. Despite needing to only shop for one item we kept getting hounded by irrelevant sales pitches for items we did not need, including vacations. They did not have what we needed in stock so we left without buying anything. Not surprisingly this just resulted in the other members of my party asking to borrow my clothes. It would have been nice if it was in stock here. I might come back if I want a plushie. They had a North American animal I liked in the relatively large plushie section, but the other members of my party were not impressed with.

It is generally clean, bright, and well organized, with plenty of sections to wander through and browse. That said, nothing here is really cheap. There are a lot of interesting and useful products, but the prices are high enough that I constantly find myself hunting for clearance items. It would be very easy to blow through a one thousand dollar gift card in a single visit. Thankfully, the local 20 percent off coupons help make purchases feel more reasonable. The staff appears to be made up mostly of high school and college age employees, and that shows in the customer service. It is not bad, just very young and a bit unpolished. Most employees seem concentrated in the shoe section or working the front registers, with limited presence elsewhere on the floor. The running shoe selection for adults is a definite plus, with plenty of options to choose from. Overall, it is not a terrible experience, but it is not a great one either. I will continue to shop here because it is one of the few places that reliably carries sporting goods, but it is more of a necessity than a destination.

They have multiple rows of snowboards to browse through, at least 5. Along with quite the selection of bindings and boots to choose from on their wall. Each sticker price is a package deal that includes boots and bindings. We chose a board that was $519. We opted to upgrade our gear, which they gave $120 credit towards boots and $100 towards bindings. They have enough variety to fit your budget that includes options from current and past season to choose from. Binding installation was also included in the package. Boots we chose were priced at $310 in store (online price $330) and bindings at $240 (online price $250). So we ended up paying $190 for the boots and $140 for the bindings. Our grand total came out to $928 with tax. Do the math and that comes out to a bang for your buck. We saved about $300 from the set we initially purchased at REI. Competitive prices and great customer service. I highly recommend stopping by :) pro tip: do some research on gear you are interested in before going, call in to check on brands and sizes you may be looking for, and try to come in on less busy hours like weekdays for the full experience.

McMullin Snowboard and Ski Co) is a cute small business ~ literally your one stop shop, specializing in all things ski & snowboard. They are definitely known for their discount prices on all winter/snow-related gear, outerwear, and accessories, as well as services like waxing, tuning, and rentals. When you walk in, the store is so neatly arranged and organized, it's super easy to find everything you are looking for. After coming here for so long, I legit just discovered that upstairs houses their "gently used" section, for those looking for an even more affordable option. The workers are super friendly, with a chill vibe. Everyone is knowledgeable & always willing you help you. You name it, they have it..AND we've bought it! Even when my kiddies wear younger..babies, we even got sledding/tubing gear here, so they could play in the snow.
