Over the years, I have only placed orders through the REI website (w/ my Lifetime Membership), but the past couple of months, I have had more miss than hits with my orders and felt like I had been spending way too much of my gift card money on return costs than keeping the actual products. I know there is a REI in Arcadia but I rarely visit that area these days. A Friend recommended this location over the Arcadia one, as it is bigger and it was perfect because it happened to be on my route one day. I stopped by on a Friday afternoon and was able to return my online order quickly. The cashier was very kind and the return was quick. I never used the product, the sizing was just way off, even though I had followed the product's website video guide. When I visited, it just so happened to be Member Days so I took a look around. This location certainly has "everything." It feels rare to have a fully stocked store these days. Since I did not need anything at the moment, I plan on stopping by again in a few months when I have an idea of what to use my gift cards on. There were employees throughout the store and they often greeted me and asked if I needed help. Great customer service! There was also restrooms for customers to use. One star review. What happened to REI? I had a very bad experience at REI Tustin on El Camino Real. EVA and manager AARON falsely accused me of returning the wrong item, even though the item matched my REI account, app, original tags, barcode, and product details. They made this accusation in front of my family and other customers, which was very embarrassing. I asked them a simple question: "What exactly is different?" They refused to answer. That tells me they had no real answer. They accused me first, then avoided explaining their own accusation. While EVA was still processing the return, AARON told me to leave and threatened security for no valid reason. After all that, they still processed the return. So the item was correct all along. This was a false accusation, poor judgment, zero accountability, and terrible management. REI leadership should review this incident seriously. read more

As a new member visiting the store for the first time, Trevor is exactly the sort of person you want helping you. For the short time I needed help somebody at the store, I felt supported from the first moment and proud to be a member. The store was clean, well stocked, very organized, and had lots of great selection across all the kinds of things you think you might find at the store like this, and some surprises too. In one trip I found something for myself, my wife, and my two young kids to prepare us for an upcoming camping trip. We will be back. read more

This is a great store for everything outdoors, hiking, walking, etc. In fact my foot doctor even recommended REI since I needed to buy a very specific shoe for a nerve issue. Robert was the head of the shoe department and we went when he was there. This store is located in the Tustin Market Place mall. Robert was really knowledgeable and knew shoes extremely well, even regarding the types for nerve problems. He must have brought out 7 different shoes including oofas...hoka...new balance etc..., and was super patient while I kept trying on pair after pair. I ended up buying the hoka brand, and then we discussed slippers as well. They didn't really have what I needed but he made some suggestions. Super nice and super knowledgeable customer support. We had a GREAT experience last night. The store was bustling with shoppers. We needed a pair of hikers for our trip. The team found time to stop and chat/advise and assist. We must have tried on 12 pairs. They were sooooo patient, informative and helpful with us. Ethan was AMAZING. He professionally handle multiple conversations giving time and attention to each shopper. At the end or our quest. We requested a few moments to "validate" our decision. Very clean location with a neat layout and classic REI feel. We were allowed to bring our non-service dog in even though it said service dogs only on the door. The employees were super nice to our dog and it was convenient to be able to bring her in during the hot day. This is my go to REI. Every time I come here, it's a pleasant experience. The team members are ALWAYS so friendly, kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. In addition to the great folks, THIS STORE is fully stocked with everything anyone could possibly need or want. Their inventory is AMAZING. & the deals they have are really great too. Today, I had the pleasure of meeting the GM, Wendell Berger. He is an MVP. I now know why this store is as great as it is. Wendell leads by example and sets the bar high. Everyone is great, however he went above and beyond for me today. I was in the knife section inquiring about a very particular benchmade model, and I was hoping they would have one of the older models hiding in the back of the store. That being said, Wendell went to the back, did research, took notes from the knife expert to help me procure the model I wanted. (I had concerns about the steel to metal ratio with the new models.) This is why I wanted an older model. Anyhow, I've been to REIs throughout the country. The service is unfortunately subpar compared to this location. I think the store is as strong as its leadership. & Wendell is TOPS, just like his team members. How often does a GM go above and beyond like this? He's a rare breed. Corporate needs to give him and his entire team a raise. I appreciate Wendell's dedication to client service so much. He and his team are truly fantastic, and they are the only reason I will HAPPILY spend my money here. I came to this REI to return a birthday gift that didn't work for me. That went fine but unfortunately they did not have what I was to purchase. Other than that, the store was great. It's definitely the biggest REI I've been to. Their selection is much bigger than the Huntington Beach location. As a recent shopper at REI, my recent experience left me disappointed. I came in to make my purchase and the cashier asked me about my membership which I did not have. After the whole conversation about membership benefits, they told me I would receive a big cash back due to my $400+ purchase. Come to find out later that I did not receive any membership cash back benefits due to the items being slightly on sale. Overall disappointed for not only lying to me about receiving cash back, but also not explaining that the points cannot be used until February of 2026 (next year) which was not mentioned until I asked AFTER the purchase was made. Either the cashier was misinformed or intentionally misleading, but either way it is unacceptable. When you're paying for a membership, the least you can expect is clear and honest information. I hope REI improves their employee training and ensures their staff actually understands the benefit of the membership they are selling. read more

It's a fairly neat store with a decent selection of items. It did look like some things were out of stock, but I like that they're usually having a lot of sales. We came in looking for a running hat, and was able to find one from their various options. The workers here are really sweet. I also liked that they had some Vuori products in there, although the selection is quite small. They do try to push you to sign up for a credit card, but aren't super pushy, which I appreciate. The store itself is a decent size, and it looks like they also offer community classes on how to pack for a backpacking trip. read more

I purchased a Northface pants from them last week and I saw it somewhere else with 20% discount so I went back to the store and asked them if they can price match. One of the sales associate, JUDY ,was very unhelpful. I asked her if they can price match No she said , I told her that I can buy from the competitive store and return the pants . why don't you do that? JUDY said , she was very sarcastic and I didn't like her attitude. Instead of being rude and sarcastic, she could have told me that they have price guarantee for two weeks, probably JUDY didn't know that either . Great customer service and but not so great customer experience. Had some parts installed but later found the bolts to the motor cover on my e-bike completely stripped and the cover loose. As well as the dropper post lever bolt completely stripped and other miscellaneous bolts either over torqued or under torqued. That could be a serious riding safety issue if some of these things weren't found before hand. Love REI and having membership benefits, but we got to be better than that. read more

We came in here because we needed bear spray for our upcoming Yosemite trip and we ended up staying for a few hours walking up and down all the aisle looking at everything. I do believe their products are a bit more on the pricier side compared to Dick's or Amazon but I definitely prefer going in and getting my items and I know their good products! I left with 100$ worth of little trinket gifts for my nephews birthday (flint stick, walkie talkies, stickers, key chain, organic candy). There was no bag to carry them in. This location is busy! We went on a Saturday a few days before Thanksgiving, and the store was packed. I saw some signs displaying 25% off for most brands. REI is already expensive enough so having a discount is great! If you're not familiar with REI, it stands for Recreational Equipment, Inc. You can find a variety of products (e.g. clothes, shoes, gear, and equipment) for outdoor activities. The brands that REI carries tends to be higher quality and thus, more expensive. read more
