I was having bad neck and shoulder pain for weeks. I wanted to check a new place out and did some research. I am always wary of some of the reviews (have been burned before) but the amount of positive reviews sold me. I was able to make an appt (simple, online booking) and showed up a few minutes early. 1. Place is clean, well-kept 2. The massage room was also clean, the table was comfortable, and the temperature/ambience was perfect. 3. My therapist asked about my problem areas and focused on those. She frequently asked me if the pressure was appropriate, temperature, pain, etc. The massage itself was exactly what I was looking for with the focus on my neck and shoulder areas. I booked the deep tissue and so can not comment on the other types offered. I would give it a 10/10. Payment after the massage was simple with both credit and cash options (there is a fee for card use but this is more or less standard at many places). There was no pressure on how much tip i had to give etc. I was offered a bottle of water. All in all, an excellent experience. It is truly a hidden gem - you do not get a feel for how great this place is from the outside. In this day and age, its hard to find a place like this. I will definitely be back! read more

I'm never fond on being barked at to have my head in the head rest. It's not the 1st place to do that either. Is that the prevailing attitude these days that we're just going to get on with it? This unassuming spa is sort of all kinds of awesome. Even though it's in a busy/high foot traffic area, they do a great job establishing a relaxing, serene ambiance. I've gotten a few different massages here in the past year or so, and they have been pretty solid experiences. I appreciate that they aren't afraid of getting a little rough - I have chronic/permanent knots in my shoulders so often can't get enough pressure. They are great. Welcoming, courteous, informative. I tried cupping on a whim and that was super painful and left welts on my back for 2 weeks but not because of any lack of knowledge or training on their part. In general, I wouldn't recommend cupping because it hurt like a bitch, but you do you if you like that kind of pain. I think I paid around $130 for an hour massage and half an hour of cupping. Look no further! This is the place you want to go. I went here to celebrate my partner's birthday (and the fact that we are both vaccinated!). We had both never had a massage before, so we were really unsure what to expect or what to do. Our massage therapists were both EXCELLENT and very professional and guided us through what to do and what to expect. My partner and I can be a little socially anxious, especially given a year long quarantine, but they definitely made us feel at ease and welcomed. The massage itself was incredible, and they really listened to our concerns about problem areas and really put in 100% effort during the entire hour we were there. Even though we are fully vaxxed, we still wanted to ease back into society so to speak, so I was really happy that there were tons of covid precautions in place. I think even if you're unvaxxed this place would be VERY safe, despite the close proximity that you would be to another person. Everyone wore their mask during the massage (and properly, over the nose and everything), and you also wear a mask as well. The place was extremely clean and relaxing. And I literally could not believe the price -- SO affordable and for such an incredible massage!! Definitely tip well, they really deserve it especially for what they charge. Had an amazing experience first time around and felt like I'd be a loyal customer. Second time here not as great. I wanted to have the same masseuse as last time, but she was off that day. Next time, I may just wait. I paid extra to try the hybrid massage. Don't waste your money. Very overpriced and I've gotten a better massage for less. Also...there is nothing hybrid about it. It's just a hot stone massage. If I would have known that, I'd just as well have saved $20 and done deep tissue. The website made it seem so much more creative and versatile by the detailing of masks and bamboo rollers, etc. Also....she didnt massage my feet at all and thought even just two minutes would have been great. I guess just disappointed that the description did not match the service and beyond that, the massage I received for the price was not worth it. Based on my last massage I'd put it as equal with other places and did not win over my loyalty. When I need a cranial-sacral with Vicki this is my go-to hands down. Worth every penny. I just had a massage 2 hours ago. And I couldn't wait to make this review for this place. I highly recommend HELEN. She has the most amazing hands I have ever experienced in my whole life. I have a very tensed upper back muscles and knots on my neck and shoulders. I had the deep tissue massage and the pressure was just perfect. A little too hard to break the tension and knots. She mixed it hot stone massage which I thought was necessary for my back -- I know it will be a little sore. Hot stone massage was very relaxing. I've been looking for someone like Helen. I'm glad I found her. Also, Jade, the owner was very nice. She gave me a pair slipper to change and a bottle of water. She's very friendly and listened to my back issue. I selfishly almost don't want to recommend this place so getting an appointment doesn't get more difficult but just have to. I've been here a few times and Jenny is amazing. The spa is in an unassuming storefront location but the inside is a calm, quiet escape from the city craziness outside. (Quite a feat considering they are pretty much underneath the El tracks! Don't know how it's possible but don't hear it inside.) Tasteful decor and immaculately clean. Went in today tied up in knots after an emotionally draining few days. Jenny skillfully untangled everything in an hour and I feel a million times better. One warning...Jenny might not be a great fit if you don't like firm pressure. She starts with walking on your back and really digs into the knots, which I love. read more

I described my back issues which were related to lack of flexibility and tightness in my legs. Though I sweated through most of the session, I left feeling better than I had in nearly a week and that included three PT visits. She knew exactly how to help and went about doing it. She was professional and gracious about my pain points but also knew when and how to push to get me on my feet. In addition, the spa itself is extremely clean and, it's a bargain!! $103 (including tip!) for a truly terrific and effective massage is five star in my book. read more

The staff I encountered at this business was very kind and able to accommodate my walk-in. I was eager to try this place as I moved into the area recently and needed a go-to massage place during the week. However, for a place that identifies itself as a spa, I was extremely disappointed with my 90 minute massage. I've had in my lifetime at least a hundred massages and today's massage at Reflexion was among the worst (bottom 5%) of all experiences for the following reasons: - The woman giving me a massage obviously had not received a formal education in massage therapist. Some clues: not responding to my verbal and physical cues when I felt too much discomfort or pain. When stretching and pulling on various body parts, instead of gently easing into a stretch she would yank me to my maximum extension and then roughly bounce it. There was a moment when I was afraid a muscle or tendon would be pulled and I had to stop her. - There was no fluid motion that a Swedish massage--which is meant for relaxation--should entail. For example, when attending to certain pressure points, most massage therapists have both slow and fast movements to gradually work deeper into the muscle. Instead, this lady would use her knuckles and just plow roughly back and forth. She would go from 0 to 10 in the pressure scale and pretty much stayed at 10 the whole time. - Of the 90 minute massage, about 60 minutes were spent grimacing. At least five times I had to verbally repeat myself that it hurt too much and physically had to stop her. I almost walked out in the middle of the massage but then felt bad because she was obviously poor in English and maybe was misunderstanding me. It didn't help that I started having fears that maybe she was new and me walking out would threaten her only source of income. Regardless of the language barrier, my jerkin away in pain, should have been clear enough. - Every other spa I've been to, even in other countries, uses a sheet to cover the body neck to toe. They use a towel that goes from the back to the thighs--really unprofessional in my opinion. The few positives from my experience was that the lady's hands were warm (I hate cold hands during a massage), the other and she was very nice. But it doesn't make up for a very disappointing experience where I was grimacing and uncomfortable most of the time. I really regret spending so much money there when I was only hoping to have a relaxing experience. read more

Exact same issue as Ben wrote. The place was clean and things were on time, but when you're in the room they pretty much fully disrobe you and everything is out there - they don't cover you back up. They also open your legs and push out to the side (to stretch) and the masseuse is right down there able to have a staring contest with your crotch. What's more, is that I booked women masseuses for me and my girlfriend online, and when I got there they gave us a guy masseuse for her instead. Not cool when i specifically booked two female masseuses online. Part of the massage includes your masseuse straddling you on the table when you are face down and they dig their knees into your butt and press their toes into your legs. If this is standard practice for them, OK, but if that's the case there should be some sort of card or something they hand to customers in the waiting area that has 5 bullet points on what to expect, giving new customers the opportunity to voice a concern before the massage starts. We both agreed, it was an awkward/uncomfortable experience and won't be going back. read more

First of all, don't go here. This is one of my few one star reviews. Fellow yelpers, keep on looking, there is something fishy about how they have 5 stars. I have had low back pain for some time and have gone to several different massage parlors in Chicago. When getting a massage I believe 3 things are necessary: Quality of massage, service, clean facilities. Quality of Massage: I think its important that before you begin a massage they ask why you are there. Tlawil just started working on me without explaining what they do there or without any concern to why I was there. I left feeling worse off than when I arrived (and I like hard pressure). Service: For starters, they booked 2 appointments at the same time so they asked me to come back in an hour, very unprofessional. Then, and this is really what gets me upset, when I'm paying, Tlawil looks upset that I'm paying with credit card. I leave $10 for a tip (in cash) on my $73, 60 minute massage that was poor quality. She says "just so you know, its customary for $10 tip for every 30 minutes". First of all, no its not, people don't tip 30%. Second of all, it was such a rude thing to say for a first time customer. I'm almost giddy with how much I enjoyed my massage here. I purchased a 90 minute session, and having seen the pics on Yelp of them walking on your back, I wasn't sure if I would be able to handle that. But I had been working out and needing some treatment bad and the reviews convinced me. What I got was a fantastic 90 minutes of bliss. She alternated pressures from deeply therapeutic to soothing throughout for a nicely balanced experience. One of the most enjoyable massages I've ever had. I'm almost looking for reasons to strain my back so I can go back sooner. Also the place is super clean and well maintained, with an upscale, modern vibe. The atmosphere was pleasent in the room with music playing a wide range of meditative music to down-tempo lounge. I appreciated the shower and robe that was available afterward. This was a terrible massage. The staff was nice but they did not tailor the massage to my needs or wishes. I don't recall the name of the therapist who worked on me, but I doubt she was a formally educated massage therapist, in either Western or Eastern techniques. I've had massage from Asian practitioners in Asia and in other American cities, and all of those experiences were better than this massage. The therapist here spent a long time in one particular point of my upper back which was not the point I requested attention on before the massage started. I requested attention on my feet and calves and the therapist barely touched those areas. I truly don't understand the high average rating for this establishment. read more

Been here twice in the past 6 months and can honestly say they've given me some of the best massages/massage experiences I've ever had. I was a former D1 athlete and my body is perpetually knotted up. Tinna spent the entire 60-minutes completely focused and dedicated on getting my knots out, paying attention to my needs, and just providing the most pleasant experience. It was utterly relaxing and also utterly gratifying to walk out with my muscles and mind in a much better place than when I walked in. This place is EVERYTHING!! I was in search of a spa when I needed an "emergency" massage on my left shoulder and neck. I found this place on Yelp around 630 pm and was in for a massage at 8pm. they scored major points being less than a mile from my place (walking distance). Tina was my masseuse and did an AMAZING job! I opted for the 30 mins for $35 and was very pleased. She recommended I take advantage of their special 1 hour full body for $55 on either Tuesday's or Saturdays because I was tight down to my foot and I easily agreed. It was a Thursday and I scheduled an apt for the following Tuesday before I left my first appt. Welp, today is Tuesday and I am literally writing this review on my way home from my full body and MY GAWD! what a bargain! My massage was TOP NOTCH and easily worth double what I paid. I seriously think I'll come here once a month. lol Tina worked my muscles so well my feet have that tingle sensation after you drain lactic acid from your muscles (my fellow athletes know what I'm talking about). I had my first massage here yesterday (as the city starts to slowly reopen from COVID-19) and WOW! I will definitely be returning! The instant I walked in I felt so comfortable and welcomed! Everything is very clean, the staff are extremely kind and professional, and they do a wonderful job! Before my massage therapist Linda came in, I was asked about what I wanted focus and work on. As soon as I was on the table and Linda entered, she got straight to work and was excellent! She made sure to do regular check ins with me to make sure the pressure was okay, and it felt amazing all around! I feel so much better today, especially after working from home for months with crap posture lol. (Also, for those wondering about COVID-19 precautions, they take your temperature and you must wear a mask until you get on the table.
