He was done in less than two weeks. Mainly because the railing came in on time. These men worked from 7am till after 5 everyday. I had absolutely no issues with them at all. They did an amazing job!!! Wish I could give 10 stars!! If you're looking for quality work then this is your guy.

Please stop updating your responses to change the story and accuse me of some new bad behavior. The texts are our communications, I didn't call you and "press you". There are no other communications. They also speak for themselves. Adding a screenshot of your prior edited comment. Update 2: Last update and lowered my rating from a 2 to a 1 star to reflect the now edited response that no longer says I "haggled" for a faster time and suggests for the first time that the glass didn't break "on its own". So I'm adding a picture of the glass, and another text screenshot where Mike refers to spontaneous breakage and asking the glass company if it's under warranty. Not sure why he's ask them if it was under warranty if it didn't break on its own. Update: I am not surprised that Mike responded. I never "haggled" to get it done sooner. If I had, I'd be pretty bad at haggling for it to take 3.5 months for it to not get done. But as I said, I have receipts. I would not recommend working with Hicks. I have had a series of issues, but held off on a critical review since he would previously try to resolve the issues. I hired Hicks to install a patio railing. The work was done fairly quickly, but after less than a year, one of the cables had fallen off. Hicks came back and repaired it without additional cost, which I appreciated. Next I had Hicks install a glass and wood balcony. I wasn't happy with the quality of the work or the state of the job site, and again Hicks apologized and came back to make it better and clean up the mess. He was at times defensive, but again, I appreciated him fixing the errors. Less than a year after the balcony was installed, a glass panel shattered. There was no impact or area of impact, suggesting it was from a glass manufacturing defect. He told me the warranty on the glass he used was only for 6 months from installation (even for defective glass), so I'd need to pay for a new sheet of glass, but he would install it without additional charge. The glass shattered in mid October. It's now February. Hicks' communication has been really challenging. I pushed and pushed to get it installed and it took months to even get scheduled. On January 9th, the day he was supposed to arrive to install, he didn't show at the agreed upon time, and only later responded after I had reached out about him being a no-show to let me know that strong wind had blown over the replacement glass and it broke. I was very frustrated because this was January and he had initially told me it would be a few weeks to get the glass replaced (which would have been November). Had it been installed in an even remotely timely manner, it wouldn't have blown over and broken. So I asked when the new glass would arrive, he said about a week. I asked him if he could please schedule me for a couple weeks out so we have something scheduled and I wouldn't have to wait months again. He said yes, but didn't actually schedule me. I started messaging a couple times a week with no response - again, said the new glass should be arrive in about a week on January 9th. Yesterday I messaged saying I needed an update, and he told me the whole thing was too stressful and he's not doing it anymore. So I waited 3.5 months for him to replace defective glass that he had offered to replace (with me paying the cost of the glass), and then he just decided he's not going to do it. I was patient and incredibly reasonable through all of these issues, but the defensiveness and failure to communicate and follow through isn't professional. I have receipts for all of these communications.

First off: we love our custom door, it continues to be a highlight of our home (super important making a great impression as people enter). It swings easily and is super stable. Recently the bolt holding the door frame to the wall came loose (likely from a mix of daily use and our shifting soils here in San Clemente). Not entirely surprising that there'd be some "settling in" given that it's a fairly massive completely custom door - but still, it had been over a year since the Hicks team finished the job. I emailed and asked: is this sort of thing covered? Well... Myke came out personally and spent the better part of two hours fixing the issue - not only thoroughly reinforcing the door frame but also upgrading the other side of the frame with a new customer stopper to increase security but also improve the operation of the door. It's been almost 18 months since install and Myke came out free of charge. Went well above and beyond and shook my hand and wished me well. If you think "good people doing good work" is hard to find... I hope you find this review, and give Myke Hicks a call.

What's worse is that since the roof work there was no major rain for 16 month, which is outside of the 12 month warranty. So I guess if you never put their roof to the test against mother nature then I guess it's perfect service. But the first time it's suppose to do its job it fails to do so. At this point I'm not sure what they did mess up my tiles and take my money for the privilege. I would literally be in a better position had I not paid them to do "work" on my roof. I tried contacting them several times and met with the cold shoulder. I'm probably just going to eat my losses here but if you're considering them, just be warned. Or make sure it rains in the warranty period!

Throughout the entire process, Mike was very professional and the level of expertise he exhibited was obvious. Before Mike, I had met with 3 other contractors to compare services and quotes but what sealed the deal for me was the 3D render service Mike offered. It was affordable and it would be free if you end up going with MDM for your remodel. Mike was able to get the renderings to me very quickly and made adjustments whenever we wanted to change something. Seeing the details of the renderings really brought what we were envisioning to life and helped with the design process. Fast forward to beginning of demo/construction, Mike's employees were impressively fast and efficient at their jobs, but what really impressed me was how clean they kept our property after each day of work. And that stated true throughout the entire process of our 7 month renovation. During construction, if there were any last minute changes, Mike would always try to cater to our needs whenever possible. Even if subcontractors made mistakes with anything, Mike would make sure it is fixed and perfect right away. Keep in mind, you can't rely on Mike for everything (as much as you might want to). You really do have to do your research (in terms of design, finishing materials, sourcing those materials, and getting them delivered on time) and know exactly what you want and how you want it, that way, Mike can plan and put into action what needs to be done. After this entire process, we are extremely happy we got this project completed with MDM. What really sets them apart is the quality of work, dependability, and the great people that work for MDM. Shoutout to Mario! They really respected our home and were very considerate of us during construction. Even after everything was finished, they guaranteed that they would come back and fix anything that needed fixing. Cannot recommend them enough if you want to improve or build your new home!

I really appreciated Ken's easy-going demeanor, and sensed zero interest in him trying to sell me a repair service that wasn't needed. Ken is just an honest guy offering his experienced opinion - in no doubt, putting yet another homeowners' unwarranted concerns to rest. I needed to discuss replacing the underlayment on my roof or completely replacing the roof. I sent him a message and he called me that same day and we scheduled an appointment for the next day. I asked him about replacing the roof and he immediately said we would save a lot of money by just pulling the existing cement tile and placing a new 50 year underlayment on the roof. He also said the attic would be much cooler, approximately 20 degrees versus using a new asphalt shingle. Well, I agreed with his plan and his quote was very competitive. His comments on the detailed work they provided sealed the deal. Javier and his experienced team arrived one week later to begin the repair and replacement of the underlayment. I was out of town and he notified me later the first day to show me pictures and explain that he needed to replace a lot of the water damaged plywood sheeting. The complete job, which included painting the underside of the new shiplap material was completed in four days.

David came by to inspect my leak by physically going up on my roof. He told me that he would email me the estimate next week. I waited until yesterday, 4/7/26 to reach out to David for the estimate. I texted him at 9:23 AM about when he would be sending me the estimates for either the repair or the entire roof underlayment replacement. I saw that he read my text message but he did not reply back. The next day I texted him again that I will be informing his office of my interaction with him. He texted back right away that he is out of town for training and he apologized for the late response. I told him that I will not be using his company for my repair/replacement due to his lack of care and commitment. He texted me by the name of Trina and Angela, although all he had to do was scroll up on the text messages for my name. If it's this difficult to get a hold of this company to give them money for their service, it might be impossible to get a hold of them once they have your money.

They weren't the cheapest option, but I felt most confident with them. I had my roof done in two segments, over a month apart, and both of my experiences were satisfactory. They were even able to accommodate some time issues. Great communication and they follow up with pictures and notes daily.
