What an amazing contractor. I'm blown away. Brian came over to the house several times to assist us in the design since we were, admittedly, all over the map. His experience and know-how contributed to the success. He's a really good designer so if you hire him, don't be afraid to tap this skill. On the installation day, his guys arrived on time and ready to work. I was expecting a full week and they got it all done in about 2.5 days. They cleaned up at the end of each day and we never lost the use of the staircase which was a total bonus given: kids, dogs etc... Just a great experience and well within our budget. I can't say enough good things about Brian and his crew. True Craftsmen and very nice guys. If you need stairs or a refresh, he's your guy! read more

We are in need of a full redo of our stairs. Previous stairs the steps had carpet while the rails and handles were previously sanded and painted from original. We got bids from at least 3 licensed companies. Let me list out all of the reasons why we ended up choosing Brian and Semper. First and foremost, you actually deal directly with the owner of the company which is Brian himself. He does not just oversee your project, but he's the one working alongside the trenches with his crew. His professionalism and friendliness throughout the process made our project experience equally as important aside from the final masterpiece. You have to experience for yourself that he puts every attention, detail and true care to his work as if it were his own house! For instance, he proactively ran by us that he would like to add extra balusters and raise up our hallway handrails for safety. His crew are super clean after each hard day's work and always willing to communicate and accommodate during the project. Semper came in right at the middle with regard to pricing. It sounds cliche' that there's a saying "you get what you pay for." I'll also add to that quote, "if you're lucky." You will definitely get both and more with Brian! Just have patience when it comes to the initial pricing quotes or having Brian actually take a look at your project. Do not let his lack in initial communication in getting a quote as a sign that he's not interested in your project. As a reminder he's actually the one working alongside his crew so his time is limited during the day and is typically busy working during the day. He doesn't send someone else to do his bids. He's the one from initial quotes to the construction of your project. I would say that if you're in need of a full redo or gutting of your stairs go with Semper. You will get what you paid for if not more. We cannot stop marveling at our stairs since it's one of the main features as you open your front door for guest or just overrall an everyday high traffic area that my family often notice daily. Again, thank you Brian to you and your crew for the level of detail, professionalism, and hard work that you have provided my family and I. Wishing you continued success. read more

I had a very pleasant experience with the company. Brian was fast with responding to my request for consultation. I appreciated that he came and saw my stair project in person rather than simply relying on a picture. His approach was friendly and personal. For installation, he was able to work with my schedule. On the day of installation, Ryan came on time to start the project. It didn't take long to complete it. Ryan was nice and professional. The stair railing came out perfect. I would recommend this company for stair railing installation. It was a pleasure working with Brian and Ryan. Thank you very much!! read more

We can't thank Brian and his team enough for their outstanding job. We were in need of installing new staircase railings for quite some time and was unable to find the right company that was licensed (very important to us) and reasonably priced. From the initial contact via Yelp all the way through the end, Brian and his team were professional, friendly, clean, and reliable. They really took the time to evaluate our project based on our needs. The painting crew really took the time to prep our place properly and the paint job was excellent. Every step (literally) was carefully planned and professionally installed. We highly recommend Semper Fine Stairs. Brian is THE man!! Thank you guys a ton! read more

Long overdue review here, but we want to give a huge shoutout to Semper Fine Stairs for taking on our staircase remodel project. Our experience with Brian and his staff was exemplary. From the initial message exchanges, site consultation to the execution. Brian was professional, personable, responsive, real easy to communicate with, and never off putting... even when confronted with challenges... What a breath of fresh air! The scope of work included custom steel spindles, maple end treads and kick boards. We realized the complexity of our design and appreciate the craftsmanship. Any challenge was promptly addressed with ease making it a smooth process, start to finish. The staircase as a focal point functions beautifully. Highly recommend!! read more

Semper Fine Stairs did an amazing job with my stairs! We needed new railing and these guys did it! Really happy with how it came out and really glad my bf hired them to work on our rails!! They were fast, efficient and professional! They cleaned up after themselves and left our place looking better than it did when they arrived. The amazing part was that they did this all in one day! They had their own tools and we offered our garage space for them to cut the wood/railing. Very reasonable pricing and a super sweet guy! Highly recommend these guys to anybody that needs a new railing :)!! Take a look at the photos! Also bonus points for having similar taste in music haha read more

Brian and his crew did an outstanding job on my stair railing project. I received a few quotes and even though he wasn't the cheapest, his quality work far exceeded my expectations. When we purchased our home, it had the original 1960s stair railing. I didn't mind the stair railing but with an active 2 year old, the wide balusters scared me! We needed to switch it out ASAP before moving in. I reached out to Brian at Semper Fine Stairs, after finding him on Yelp, and he was quick to respond. I was able to text him photos of the style I wanted to replace it with, and he gave me his honest feedback and worked with our budget. He was not the cheapest, nor the highest bid we received, but we decided to move forward with him because of his communication and honesty, which went a long way. Brian met us at our home to take some measurements and confirm the style, even leaving me some iron balusters over the weekend to decide on. He never pushed us one way or another, and offered good advice in terms of being up to code. We were on a very tight schedule and he was able to complete the project within our timeframe, showing up everyday, on time and ready to complete the next task. The lines of communication were always open between us, even responding to my text after hours (sorry Brian!) His crew - from the demo team, to painters, etc. were very courteous and respected Covid practices, which we appreciated. It is the first thing you see when you enter our home and he was able to match the rest of the home's design. We've received many compliments on it. Overall, great experience from beginning to end and would highly recommend to anyone looking to replace their staircase/stair railing. Thanks Brian and team! read more

Brian was great! Communicative , honest , on time .... I read all his reviews , received other quotes and reached out to Brian a second time knowing his original quote was suitable for the job. I knew he was the one for the job to do our staircase remodel project . We wanted to bring our 1980's orange oak stair case up to date ! Brian did just that ! He even took on fixing a pocket door unexpectedly and still completed the work in 3 business days! Your crew did a great job! We appreciate your open communication , excellent workmanship and professionalism! We were crazy to think we could ever do our own staircase DIY ! We definitely see the value in having an expert do the job! Brian is definitely an expert! The kitchen may be the heart of the home but the staircase makes a grand statement! Thank you Brian , and crew for bringing our home up to date and making it look stunning !!! We love it ! read more

I was very pleased with the project that Brian and his crew did for my outdated stairs. Once we decided on a design, he provided a fair estimate and got right to work. The level of detail placed by him and his paint/stain crew really shows on the end product. All workers were respectfully if our space, covered all necessary floors and furniture and cleaned up after. It was a total of 3 days worth of work and turned out excellent. I am quite picky and annal about small details but there was not one item that concerned me. I highly recommend Brian on your next stairs remodel jobs, you will not be disappointed. read more

Couldn't have been happier with my experience! They came out quickly and had great communication. They always asked what I wanted and what was going to happen before proceeding. My railing came out beautifully and well crafted. The guy running it, Brian, is very nice and I felt very comfortable having him and his dad working in my house. The price I got was even cheaper than what I had quoted with when I spoke to other companies. My dogs had chewed a corner of our stairs and they even covered that for free with some putty. Im a small business GC in Orange County. I have worked with several stairbuilders/Carpenters, and every trade in between. Brian responded to every question my customer and I had prior to starting the remodel, and throughout the project, and always in a reasonable timeframe. I've worked with so many contractors--plumbing, painting, roofing, flooring, landscaping, and even restoration. By far Brian from Semper Fine Stairs is the best I've ever hired. He's my favorite among all of them. His attention to detail is impeccable and incomparable to any of the works I've seen. To be honest, I'm simply grateful just for his existence on this planet. He is just that reliable, kind, and pleasant to have around. I actually wish that all contractors were like Brian; so I wouldn't have to waste so much time setting up security cameras on every corner and calling their bosses because their workers went into places in my house they shouldn't be in without permission. read more

We needed to replace the hand rails on our stairs that were stolen by an unscrupulous contractor we were working with last year...we called Brian and arranged to get a quote. Before he came we were discussing redoing our fireplace, and thinking about adding a new mantle. The stairway/well in our home was an absolute eye sore for me. i absolutely hated them. My husband and I looked at countless videos on pinterest and you-tube on DIY inexpensive ways to upgrade your stairs and we "thought" we were ready to go, until we peeled back the carpet on our first step. Neither of us had that kind of committment plus our bodies were not prepared for that kind of work. I called Semper Fine Stairs and spoke with Brian and told him what I was looking to do. I got on his website and looked at his past work and expected to pay a fortune for his work. I was pleasantly surprised at his prices but not only that, Brian worked with us. I never even imagined my stairs would come out as beautifully as they did! They are an absolutle masterpiece in my home and now the rest of the house has to catch up! One million percent worth the money! Brian and his crew are pure professionals, extremely kind, on time, and were actually pleasant to have around. I cannot recommend Brian enough.
