As a mom of 10-month-old twins, my schedule is very structured, so the repeated changes were especially disruptive. I understand things come up, but the lack of reliability was disappointing. I ultimately had to move forward with another company. **Update: After the owner's response, I went back and reviewed our messages and he's correct that there were two reschedules, not four. I appreciate the clarification and understand that one of the cancellations was due to a family emergency. Hope all is well with your mother. That said... scheduling delays, limited availability and multiple reschedules still impacted my timeline and planning, which ultimately led me to move forward with another company. I understand that unexpected situations come up, but reliability and consistency are important factors when choosing a service. This review is long overdue. Hired Jim last summer to redo our kitchen and give our entertainment a face-lift. He's very attentive to what we wanted and provided his technical knowledge. He would also frequently check to make sure we were on the same page as far as design, placement, scheduling, etc. Products used seem to be highly quality. We wanted to remodel our kitchen, after we began to search and receive quotes most of them use prefab cabinets which we didn't want because that's what we currently had and they didn't fit correctly, then another was to build cabinets off site in a shop and install completed cabinets. Then I came across James and Kelly from SoCal Woodworks. Our first meeting with them we were impressed right then with them. James went over every detail including that he custom builds the cabinets onsite, in this case on our back patio which as project went along would give us time to decide on how we wanted cabinets and drawers situated. We also decided we wanted our new cabinets to the ceiling which was not an option with prefab cabinets. On James and Kelly's second visit out we signed the contract, again went over the entire project but we wanted to add a custom entertainment center and remodel a bathroom, which James does also. James, Kelly and his team Herschel and Cody are so awesome and easy to work with, as was the plumber Roy and the bathroom tile guy Steve. They are all way above the 5 Star rating given and I highly recommend them and we are very happy we chose them over others. The quality is awesome, the look is awesome and at the beginning of each day we were informed on what would take place and at the end of each day what would take place on the next day or visit depending on scheduling. I'm sure our project took a little longer than we scheduled BUT only due to us adding more to the project and the limited time we had to look for the granite and the quantity of granite we needed which was 3 slabs, often finding only 1 or 2. One stone place told us to wait until the contractor, James, was ready for it. NOTE most stone and granite places are closed on the weekends thus we were only able to search and visit them every other Friday due to my wife's job. I strongly suggest shop early, most places will hold product for a couple weeks or even 30 days, product was in short supply do to the pandemic making it harder to find and causing the delay in our project, this in no way was the fault of SoCal Woodworks, it was the fault of my wife and myself. HOWEVER James and his team were very understanding and worked around it. It's been a few weeks now since the project has finished, I did have a few minor adjustments that needed to be done, I contacted James, and Herschel was out the next day. All is great, kitchen, entertainment center and bathroom all look great. I highly recommend SoCal Woodworks and custom cabinets rather than prefab cabinets, they look much nicer and much higher quality. Thank you James, Kelly, Herschel, Cody, Steve and Roy you hard work and professionalism is greatly appreciated. James was one of 10 contractors were interviewed and requested a quote from. His quote for custom cabinets in our kitchen was the most competitive of all the quotes we received, including refacing quotes. Normally that might make one nervous, but James is truly the real deal. When we first spoke with him we explained that we were looking to hire someone who would do a really great job for a very fair price (in order words we were looking for a great value). James said he would deliver just what we were looking for and he did. We contacted several references he provided and they all had nothing to say but good things. Too good to be true right?? Well I'm here to tell you, it's not. James is a true professional.
