    Wood handrails

Martin Stairways is the best!! They installed Beautiful solid wood hand rails matching perfectly with existing wood. Railing made our hallway safe and secure. Pricing was very reasonable and excellent clean up after project completion.

Maple handrail (we still need to stain).

Our experience with Martin and his crew was seamless, professional, & impressive. In less than two weeks of getting a quote, our new stairs railing was installed. Martin was very professional and able to create exactly what we had envisioned just from an inspo pic and conversation on the phone. His crew was efficient and did an excellent job installing the railing in one day. After getting several quotes, his price was by far the best. We highly recommend them to anyone looking for custom stairs railing!

I wanted to update my staircase from an orange oak original to a more modern white oak treatment with black balusters. After receiving several estimates, I emailed Martin Stairways with a few pictures of my staircase and some measurement. For the same scope, his quote was much less than everyone else, some by several thousands. He emailed a proposal and we scheduled a date for the installation. I was a little uncomfortable about getting this estimate without meeting face to face and wanted to see samples of the wood. Since we lived nearby, he was able to drop it off at my front door. Ultimately, I didn't need to worry because I found Martin Stairways and his painter to be reliable, honest punctual and pros at their work. When they showed up, I could have all of the detail conversations needed for the installation. Skirt or no skirt? How do I want the newel post? I could see the wood. No upselling or sales demeanor at all. In fact, he talked me out of work that I estimated for only by showing me what it looked like in other homes. I appreciated that. They basically woodworked and cut each piece of the stairs to fit perfectly with the space. Same with the painter. Cesar texted the day before and when they arrived, they color tested 4 different stains of my choosing onto the actual wood, on all four sides. This really helped me see how the stain would look on different variations of the Oak grain. They also fixed up the walls next to the stairs like patching broken drywall and sanding down and painting over areas of the wall that was affected by the removal of the old stairs. The work was all-in-all excellent. I had some questions about parts of the railing that Martin personally addressed before the painting. The painting and staining went without a hitch and couldn't find a fault with it. A couple of tips. Don't email Martin on Yelp, but use his email address on his website. He's light on the follow-up communication sometimes but very reliable. Learn about staircase anatomy and be prepared to answer questions on all sorts of parts. And if you have pets or live on the top of the stairs, consider breaking up the woodwork and paint across a couple of weeks because your pet will need to be sequestered. When they varnish, your best bet will be to be out of the house. Honest, reliable, reasonable. Couldn't ask for much more. Give Martin a try!

    Completed project

I am so happy with our new stair rails. Martin and his team are total pros and I felt so fortunate to work with them. Easy to communicate with, high quality workmanship and totally pleased with the outcome.

Martin stairways food installed and stained our banister a couple of years ago. He color matched the stain to the floors. We've been enjoying its beauty ever since. A few years later, other contractors are commenting on how solid and secure it is. He was professional, and cleaned up. We found his prices too be very fair.

We wanted to replace our traditional stair railing with a modern one. Martin gave us a quote significantly lower than all other quotes we received. He said the work would take 3 days and gave us a date. We were doubtful because our experience had been that contractors give a time estimation that is lower than how long it actually takes them to complete the job (usually because they have started other jobs in other places). To our surprise, Martin finished the job after less than three days, and did an amazing job. His painter Cesar, also did a clean, punctual and excellent job. The whole project started on a Monday and ended on a Friday. Including demo of the old railing. Highly recommended!!!

We had them change out the standard rail that came with the house to oak stairs, white risers, and oak square railing. Can't describe how happy we are with the end result! Completely changed the look. They did an awesome job on the stair treads and rails with solid french oak. The painters they use also did a great job matching the wood floor and were VERY thorough in preparation. Looks great!

Thank you for our beautiful stairs! It came out better than expected. The guys were professional and the work was done so quickly.

Martin stairwells did a great job updating our old metal stair railing. Their pricing was competitive and we were able to schedule the work within a weeks of signing the proposal. Their crew showed up on time, completed the work ahead of schedule and the painter did a great job spraying the new railing with no overspray. Highly recommended and would use again!

Post moved to floor vs being on the 1st Step. Notched into first step and riser.

Highly recommend! Martin and his Boys did our Stairs last year, and I completely forgot to give them the review they deserved. Only recently when another Yelper asked about another review I did regarding a different Stair Company did I remember that I hadn't left a review for Martin, so here it is. From begin to end, everything was spot on. Martin was clear with his communication, listened to our requests, and delivered an awesome set of Stairs for Us. All this with a fair and competitive price. These Stairs are now the centerpiece of our Living Room vs. the eye sore they used to be. After a lot of research, we had a pretty good idea of what we wanted. Martin listened to our requests and brought it to Life. We chose to go with a Craftsman style Stair. We moved the Post from the first Step down to the Floor. Also, we had them notch the Post into the first step. We also went with full treads and had them distressed to match our existing flooring. Martin distressed the treads on-site as well as the glue-ups for the landings. It was awesome seeing this in person. Definitely new found respect for the work required for Stairways. Thanks Martin!

This will help to make the quotes more comparable and will ensure there aren't any major surprises along the way. - Confirm working hours (e.g., what time they will start each day, what time they will finish each day, do they work weekends, etc.). - If you have the space, buy new appliances as soon as possible. Similarly, order shower glass doors as soon as tiling is done. You never know when something will go out of stock or if there will be unexpected delays in delivery. - Be prepared to make all the design choices (unless you hire a separate designer). They will opine on something very specific if you ask and will definitely bring something to your attention if they think you're about to make a huge mistake, but in general, you are responsible for all the materials selection. We met with 6 contractors before selecting Entourage. Of the 6 we met with, only 2 encouraged doing things "by the book" (i.e., getting the proper permit from the city). In fact, some of them actively discouraged us from obtaining the permit. Given the magnitude of the project, it made us a bit nervous that some of the contractors didn't want us to pull the proper permit (we understood that obtaining the permit will add to our budget and timeline and were ok with it). Of the 2 that did recommend doing things by the book, we went with Entourage because their pricing was more reasonable. FYI, Entourage handles all the work related to pulling the permit for minimal cost. Overall, we are very happy with how our house turned out and plan to hire them on future projects (we have also recommended them to several friends). Entourage's quality of work, especially as it relates to tiling, is just amazing. In fact, friends that came over to check out the "new" house commented on how they thought the project would've cost way more than what we ended up spending. Our primary contact, Paulina, was super responsive and helpful. They estimated that the project would take 3 - 4 months and it was completed almost exactly on the 3-month mark. I HIGHLY recommend Entourage Home Remodeling.
