Where to start? Saw the reviews on yelp and figured this place had to be good. This place is small. I mean, if you enjoy sitting with your back up against the person in the table in back of you, then this is your place. So we took up residence at the bar. Best burger around? HA! Sure it is. Do you know what spice is? Maybe a little salt and pepper. Do love how they melt the cheese over the bacon though. The dining experience may have been enhanced if there weren't dirty glasses being lined up in front of us. I mean, really??? And this is where the story gets stranger: We see a bald older looking man wearing work clothes at the end of the bar groping a woman and making her rub his head. We watched as he 1. downed a full beer in seconds 2. took the last bit of liquor in every bottle and drank it 3. when someone ordered a shot he would take one out of the bottle before pouring the shot for the patron. I mean he took the bottle and drank out of the bottle. Seriously???? Oh and when he "pretended to cry" he used the soda gun as his tears. The burger was OK, not even in my top 10 for long island, let alone everywhere I've been. Did i mention that the bald man was the owner of the place? The icing on the cake was when he threw ice at his bartender employee and it hit my girlfriend. Will never set foot in this place again. I had high hopes for this place and unless you're a local who likes mediocre burgers and a drunken bar owners antics, you may want to skip this place and head somewhere else. PS-The bartender tried to charge us for 2 extra drinks. Pointed it out and had them taken off, but watch your tab! read more

Patchogue's, North Ocean Ave teems with history. Reese's 1900 keep the feel in the aesthetics of the building. Approaching Reese's has more of a museum than bar feel. The proprietors of the Pub are genuine with the warm greeting you get when you step inside. To the right is the olde timey Irish bar to the left is the sit down restaurant section. The walls are adorned with a collection of authentic turn of the century photos of the area amongst the typical Guinness ads. The Menu is standard Pub Fare sprinkled with some not so typical items, like the soup of the day was a cream based corn and shrimp chowder. My agenda was the burger. Easy choice, The Reese's 1900 Burger. AKA Bacon Cheeseburger. Service abides to the old school NY style of a plate of Pickles and Coleslaw prior to the Burger entree. The Coleslaw was creamy a bit sweet and delicious. The burger was outstanding quality I knew someone put this together for me. Not unfrozen or pre packaged. The bacon; not too smokey, appropriate thickness, cooked to not too crispy, chewy but not like jerky. The Chop Meat was juicy and a robust hearty flavor. The fries were a pleasant surprise actual cut potatoes. The bar is well stocked; overall it's a cool unpretentious feel with great service. I'd go back to throw back some pints without hesitation. I'd recommend Reese's to anyone visiting Patchogue especially someone trying to avoid some douchebaggerry that plagues a lot of would-be decent Suffolk locations. read more

This is weird to say... but I feel like an adult when I come here. I was definitely the youngest person in there by about 2 decades. They don't have too much on tap, but their liquor selection spans 3 shelves wall to wall! It's a very authentic feeling, old-timey Irish Pub. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area and looking to grab a drink while avoiding the douchey college scene (and by college, I mean Suffolk Community). I didn't get to try any of their food but their burgers & fries sure looked tasty... read more

My fav place to eat...I come here at least once a week and it always feels like home. The staff are amazing and I love going there no matter who's on staff! Matt the bartender and Joe the waiter are awesome. I bring people here all the time to eat because whatever anyone orders is guaranteed to be great! The burgers are the best I've every had in my entire life, the coleslaw and pickles are the best known to man and the corned beef is to die for! All of the specials are guaranteed to be delicious and fresh, as well as every item that I or company ever ordered off the menu. Mainly a burger review.... Generally not a fan of thick Burgers, but ill be the first to admit that this is one of my favorites in all of Suffolk. The homemade potato wedges that come along for the ride are pretty good as well. This is possibly the best little gem in Patchogue. I've known they've been around for many years. I've lived in Medford for 40 years and passed it so many times in the past, but never stopped. I've heard of so many people claim it was so good. But lemme tell ya, from the moment I walked in the door.. I had such a good vibe. The waiter was super polite.. and the barkeep even acknowledged my presence coming, and leaving. The food was top notch.. me and my wife both had the pastrami.. excellent!!! It reminded me of feasting in a good deli back in queens. My parents have recommended it to me in the past but now.. I decided it was time, and after the first bite into my sandwich.. I know why they frequented it. Reasonably priced, staff is unbelievably friendly.. I will come back, and recommend to as many friends that want a old style bar restaurant atmosphere. I hate to spread the word since its such a small place and seating is always at a premium but... Food and atmosphere is great. My favorite is the Scarsdale sandwich. Also the 1900 Burger is a winner many times over in local competitions. Every meal comes with fresh homemade slaw and pickles. Menu is large enough for everyone and the portions are fair. Prices very reasonable. Atmosphere is that of an old time Irish pub, owners Matt and Joe will gladly tell you the places history. So, sit at the bar and have the best Irish Coffee around, ask Joe to share some Powers and enjoy. read more

After reading reviews of this place, I was hoping this would be a nice pub to go to before a concert across the street. It was an OK place. It was the night of a suspected blizzard in the middle of winter and coming from Jersey City, NJ I knew we were taking a risk to see some good music (ie Miles to Dayton). Me and two of my friends drove out to Patchogue and were famished. So this was one of few places to go within the time we had before the show. It was crowded but expected for a Friday night. Mixed ages, everyone from families with young children to seniors sharing a scotch to drunken 30-50 somethings hitting on those much younger than them. The food was traditional bar food which was mainly fried. The prices for the food and drinks was okay but the quality was meh. I think i had a grilled cheese BLT and soup - which was surprisingly good! Staff was ok, but seemed a little spacey. All and all, if you gotta eat, this place is fine. read more

12/26/2022. my sister, mother (89 y/o) had a horrible experience at reese's this afternoon. we entered the restaurant and were told it would be about 20 minutes for a table, we said ok, but the truth be told we had to wait 50 minutes to be seated and we were squashed standing up behind the bar patrons on stools. after about 20 minutes the waiter came and told us we would be seated he just had to clear the table. we were ready to be seated when he said no. a larger party reserved that table. well we watched and a few people wandered in and the man who wanted that table was speaking to staff. it didnt feel or look good that they took him before us when he came in after us. my mother has a hip and ankle condition that doesnt allow her to stand more than 20 minutes at a time; it was a disgrace that they made us stand squashed in like a sardine can! the waiter should have been honest. there was an older man i think he was the manager witnessed us standing there with my mother about to collapse and he didnt even offer us a drink. never going back to an establishment that doesn't honor and respect senior citizens and lies to people about wait times. 50 minutes standing for an 89 y/o is just not acceptable- i dont care how good the food is - it just took the fun of two daughters taking there mom out for lunch we would have gotten better service at mcdonald's or burger king!!! patricia from bayport. read more

I came here with my parents and watched on as they experienced immense amounts of nostalgia because they used to come to this bar all the time. It does look like a great little Irish pub. It really did feel like it was stuck in time, back in the 1900's. They start the meal with some pretty good pickles . If you're not a fan of pickles, you're out of luck but I really enjoyed them. They also brought out some cole slaw that was really more of a pile of mayonnaise with a sprinkling of cabbage than anything else. As a family we split the special appetizer, which was stuffed clams. This was by far the best part of the meal. Delicious chopped up clam meat with exactly what you want from stuffed clams: breading, a little bit a cheese, good herbs. Then I got the portabello sandwich for lunch. It was clearly just a half-assed attempt to put something vegetable-based on the menu. I ate it but it was very "meh". Overall, I can't say I didn't like the experience. Reese's 1900 could be a really cool spot, especially the bar. I just worry if it stays the way it is now it could age itself into obscurity. read more

Been here about 3x now, always a good meal. This time it was the Delancy Street sandwich, corned beef on rye, and a Manhattan clam chowder (half sandwich and soup) for me. My fiancée had a pastrami sandwich and chili. Both our sandwiches were excellent, nice lean corned beef on mine, soft and tender, not dry, and fresh rye bread. I know from past experience how good their chili is, I prefer it naked so I get the full unadulterated chili flavor, but my fiancée liked it with cheese and sour cream. The clam chowder was good, though I didn't detect much clam. Hmmm. The meal was preceded by pickles and cole slaw. Good pickles, but the cole slaw is swimming in mayo. A touch less mayo and it would be great. Service was good, and my bottle of pumpkin ale arrived with a nice frosty glass rimmed with cinnamon and sugar, a nice touch I wasn't expecting. A visit to Reese's is like stepping back in time. Everything about the place is lovely, in that its authentic, well done and loved by the locals. Anytime I'm close by I stop in for lunch. The food is well done and priced well for the quality. I always end up with the same waitress and she is always very attentive and patient with my children. They don't have a kids menu, but they are very accommodating. Its important to note that they are closed on Sundays and I guess that's one of the reasons that their staff doesn't change much. Stop in and make sure you try the Cole Slaw - there is none better! read more

Since moving to Patchogue a year ago, Reese's became a quick favorite. Many different kinds of delicious indulgent burgers and sandwiches (Their crabcake sandwich is my favorite from anywhere). And there's always something eye-catching on the specials menu. The food is great and the atmosphere is quaint. The drawbacks to Reese's would be the size, as noted in other reviews. However, you can call ahead so I would recommend doing so. Also they refuse to split credit cards at a table and only write one check per table. So when you go in a group go with cash and you'll save yourself a headache. Don't let that stop you from enjoying Reese's. They're a real treasure! read more

Definition of simple but effective. It's dim and cozy inside and the guy who owns it is such a nice old man. The burger is known to be delicious and the coleslaw is really good. On Sept. 4, 2011 in Syracuse NY 10 burgers (one from each region of ny) battled for the best burger in the state. After hearing about their nomination for the best burger in their region my friend and I went to see what their burger was all about. It's a great little local pub with all the normal bar food and a good selection of beer. With how the place was packed you could tell that it was a local favorite. The burger was mediocre a bit dry oddly built with the bacon under the melted cheese. After having many of the other nominated burgers it's good they didn't make the trip. It's a great local place and much better then fast food but i wouldn't drive 2.5 hours to eat it... again. In a party of 5 with two that didn't eat meat it was hard for them to find anything to eat. Even a broccoli cheese popper that we were led to believe were meat free had bacon. read more

Go for the friendly atmosphere for a few cocktails, NOT THE FOOD... Jaime behind the bar is great, makes you feel like a regular off the bat, definitely a reason to go back. As for the food, ear somewhere else before hand. The amazing burger they boast is totally not worth it, overpriced and absolutely, absolutely nothing to write home about. Could have gotten my own prime chop and made a better burger for a mere fact of the price. The bleu cheese on the burger was just a dressing that oozed out onto the "fries". Cozy place with a retro feel to it. Not a place I would hang out at all the time (due to the usually older crowd), but I have been there a handful of times. This Pub is great! They bring to the table Coleslaw and Sliced pickles. And let me just throw this in there.. I hate Coleslaw, however the last time I visited Reese's I was STARVING... And when they placed that little dish of Coleslaw down, I poked at it with a fork and decided to taste it... Honestly, it was good! I ate it!. Now, being I ate Coleslaw the following day I went to a party and tried that "store buy" branded Coleslaw... and I hated it. Moral of the story.. Reese's is the only Slaw I'll eat. I ordered the Bacon cheddar Potato skins as a starter for the table which came out really good and cheesy! For Dinner, I ordered the 1900 Burger. Its a thick beef burger with bacon on top and your choice of a cheese. (I go with Blue cheese) and then I asked for their Wing sauce on the side!.. It was delicious, did not disappoint! They make these potato wedges as "fries" which no doubt are really good... But I have to say, the Onion rings are by far the way to go! You can also ask for 1/2 Fries 1/2 Rings if you want to try them both! The decor of the place sets you back in the early 1900's yet give you that Irish feel. Its a great place to just stop in and grab a bite to eat if that's what you're looking for. The bartender was a really nice man! and the younger waiter guy was really kind as well. They both made sure we were alright and see if we needed anything throughout our dinner. Beers cold! Yum Yum Yum. Hadn't been here for some time. How stupid could I be! Had the special appetizer of the night which were loaded potato skins which were served with heaps of pulled pork, dreamy cheese and bacon. Big dollop of sour cream in the middle of the plate was generous and enough to ensure every bite was melodic. I had the 1900 burger with blue cheese, bunless. Burger cooked to a perfect medium and the blue cheese was so creamy and melted to perfection. Hubby had the bratwurst and kielbasa (or maybe knockwurst, not sure). He said it was really good, and had a nice snap to the skin. It looked really good but I was way too into my burger. It's so traditionally pub like here and everyone is always so pleasant. Great cozy atmosphere! I'm going to make sure it's much sooner rather than later that we get back to Reese's! It never fails, in food and fun! read more

3rd stop on Patchogue Halloween Spook-o-Rama Pub Crawl. What can I say, Reece's is a Patchogue institution. The place is always filled with locals sucking down the beverages and eating the food. As most of the prior reviewers have noted, this is not a large place. The bar area is fairly small and there are only about 7 or 8 tables in the dining area. I have never found either to be a problem. If going there for food you can usually wedge yourself into the bar area if there is a wait to be seated. Service there has always been very good. The staff is always friendly. Food is your typical bar fare. It's very good, but nothing to write home about. I usually stick with their sandwiches or burgers. They do offer other more elaborate dishes but I'm typically in there later in the evening so a full blown meal is usually not something I'm going to order. The bar is fully stocked. There are several beers on tap and numerous others available in bottle form. read more

As soon as I walked in service was excellent. Seating was within 15 minutes on a busy Friday evening. Food was excellent, coke slaw was the best I've ever had, creamy and tasty with a nice punch of crunch. I ordered Shepard's pie, which was the best and hardiest meals I've had. Extremely reasonable price , excellent friendly service, owner interested in the customers. Overall, a wonderful experience and a place I would go back to dozens of times. First time here , with the anticipation of having a great burger ( 1900 burger ) bacon , cheddar . Being from the area you have a variety of good joints that serve a good burger . Burger shack , cavanaughs , tomorrow's pub ........ I will say that place is cool and has great history and keeps the old school pub feel compared to most of the new places on Main Street . What can I say about the burger , they need a better bun , burger is a decent size but cooked medium the juices soak right through the bottom of the bun which is just your basic seeded bun that doesn't stack up to the size of the burger . I would go back and try the Rueben which is a staple item in pub food but so far the local burger war goes too cavanaughs in blue point . Working my way east next up is tomorrow's pub . Looks like a new burger joint coming to town as well . Local burger co. On Main Street . If your looking for a place off the path of Main Street to grab a bite and not deal with the younger generation roaming around this would be a good choice . And if you like shepards pie ! It's on the menu ! Absolutely top notch food and wonderful atmosphere. The menu is expansive and there is something for every taste bud and every price range. There are affordable options as well as more expensive ones, but the food is universally delicious. I had the best steak sandwich of my life here and would highly recommend it to anyone. The beer was also great, though there wasn't as big a selection, but it was affordable. And the atmosphere was excellent, very appropriate for an Irish Pub style. My only complaint was that the wait staff was a bit inattentive, but so bad that you would notice. Overall a great dining experience. read more
