We have had our home alarm system with Redwood Security for over 9 years, and we've only needed to have a service technician come by twice in all this time. They have always been very responsive with any questions we have had. Most recently, we called in because we had several zone fault messages come up on our panel display, and our technician, Luke, came out the very next morning. He was very prompt for the 9:00am appointment and was very professional in demeanor. He carefully - yet efficiently - investigated and tested to root cause the issues, and within a short time, he had fixed everything. Having had enough of Xfinity's terrible customer service I recently had Redwood install a whole house alarm system. They were prompt and quick in their installation and I appreciate as well that this is a local company. Unfortunately we kept getting false alarms after the install so they figured out it was a faulty sensor and sent someone to fix it. As I'd already had a whole property camera system involved, Redwood was a good solution as they don't currently offer cameras. Locally owned and operated - they're easy to work with and are always available when you call. Very much recommend. read more

Robbery and faulty alarm system 2 weeks ago our house behind the Mill Valley golf course was broken into and robbed, late on a weekday morning. Back door from deck was kicked in. Fortunately, nobody was home, and all that was stolen was a well-backed-up laptop. (Are YOUR photos backed up?) Problem was that neither our alarm company, Redwood Security, nor the Mill Valley police were notified. My wife came home to a ringing alarm. The reason? 4 1/2 years ago we switched our land line phone service from AT&T to Comcast VOIP. Familiar to you? If so, be worried. Redwood Security, that is taking no responsibility for mismanagement of the system, alleges that Comcast messed up the rewiring of my alarm's phone line, and that since then, I didn't test it properly. Per Redwood, it is solely MY responsibility to test the alarm, since even in this "internet of things" world, Redwood's systems can't reach out and touch my house. They just sit there and wait for incoming calls (and payments, based on my Quicken records) from PROPERLY monitored homes. You know, all those homes where people watch Comcast technicians at work and who frequently test their alarm system's ability to automatically call Redwood's waiting dispatchers if something happens.... The technician who came to our house and discovered this alleged faulty wiring said "This happens all the time." When I asked him if Redwood was doing anything about it, I got the usual "I'm just the technician." When I told the service manager at Redwood Security that I'd been robbed, and had learned that my house hadn't been monitored in 4 1/2 years, he said, "Oh, did you switch phone providers?" Obviously, they'd been through this before. When I spoke to one of Redwood's owners, he told me on the phone that they would "make it right" and it "wasn't my fault." But... The next communication from Redwood was a harsh letter to us citing our contract, blaming Comcast, blaming me, incorrectly stating that the police report said nothing was stolen, and offering to upgrade us to a better system at a discount. Now, THAT'S a sales pitch! Given THAT solution to this literal "breakdown in communications," my family won't be the last victim of crime, unresponsive management or faulty legacy technology. So, if you don't want to be next, regardless of who is at fault, I suggest that you learn about, and implement, as we have, a better security system that includes two way communication, redundancy, text alerts, video, etc., and can even arm itself automatically! It can be done for much less than what Redwood charges for its "service." read more

We've used Redwood Security since 2009 and it's been a great experience. We chose them based on a recommendation from friends and are so glad that we did. One main reason that we went with them is that some of the other, bigger name, security companies' marketing is all about scare tactics (the bad guys are coming for you!). No thanks. Redwood's staff are uniformly friendly and responsive. We only had to have our battery replaced once. It didn't trigger a false alarm (as others reported) but it did make a high-pitched beeping sound (which we turned off by inputting our code). Redwood got someone out to replace it the next day. The system itself is easy to use - choose a main code and a backup one and then there are really only three commands that you'll ever use (turn the alarm on when you leave the house; turn it on when you're in the house and turn it off). Overall, we've been very happy with this company and also really like supporting a local business. read more

The first thing on my list of to do items is not to search for a new security company. That said, it is about 5th on my list, and I'm just about ready to move it further up. The customer service at this company simply totally lacks at this point. I am definitely not happy and only stay because I have other things to focus on right now. They have been our home security and fire monitoring company for many years for our Tiburon home and we recently used them again to install & monitor a wired system in our San Francisco home. The entire process of installation, setting up monitoring and periodic service calls over the years has been over-the-top wonderful. I always get a quick email response from Jeff when I need something and the best part is they have SMART service technicians. The guys that we have worked with over the years, are beyond capable - they are exceptional! They get things done quickly and have the best attitudes. They take time to explain things to you. The only issue I have with them is that their billing is a little weak. Mistakes will happen periodically, and can take multiple calls to resolve. read more

Dealing with all kinda of company's on a daily base shows a lot about them. Redwood Security for sure stands out in all aspects. Great staff, on time, good pricing and a local business not some major corporation which doesn't give a s..t about there small customers. After renting a office inside a big commercial building which they service I approached them to install a security system inside my small house and was surprised about there customer support and the effort they put into helping me making the right choice and not trying to sell me into some big system I didn't need. Very professional installer, friendly, had no issue with my dog. Easy billing options and when I had questions they are always available to answer them quickly. What more can one ask for ? After a couple month I upgraded my system to not use a old phone line and they had a solution to use my Comcast cable instead. Mayor savings a month not having to pay for a hard line anymore just for a security system. At that point they also helped installing a app on my wife's and my iPhone to be able to remote arm/disarm our security system which is great for having guest visit. They even setup email notification been send out whenever the status changes... Great in case you wonder what's going on at home while you gone. Highly recommend company.
