The drinks and apps for 4 people at the bar came to $200, and we were still hungry, expensive place for what you get

Made a reservation a month ago for 8:30. Arrived at 8:20 they told us soon. After several inquiries about how much longer, we were told we had to wait for a table of 6 to leave. By 9:20, no table of 6 was ready to go, so we left. No apologies, no attempt to offer us a pizza or beverage, only an "ok". Came in on Saturday as a walk in and was told there were no available tables but was told that we could wait 30 minutes for a high top table. We chose to not wait at the bar for the high top table because there were no seats available at the bar. Came back in 30 minutes and was told that they were unable to seat us because someone had taken the table already. Would have appreciated that they told us ahead of time that they would not be able to hold the table for us prior to wasting 30 minutes. read more

Stopped in for a girls night today. The location is beautiful and easy to get to. The parking is ample. The aesthetic of the restaurant is minimal / mid century modern and very spacious. The menu is eclectic and based upon the chef's travels is what the waitress informed us. The menu is small yet varied. I chose the vegetable and hummus plate which was $21 and ordered a side of onion rings. The meal tasted very fresh and had good flavor. I was satisfied with the portion size and felt it was just right. The onion rings were average though the presentation was beautiful. My friends ordered two of the pizza varieties and the smoked trout toast. All of the meals looked very tasty and fresh. The menu is well thought out will something to please everyone including vegan and those with gluten intolerance. I also appreciated the fact the waitress asked if we had any dietary restrictions. We recently dined at REDD to celebrate my husband's birthday. Everything was executed to perfection, from the patio atmosphere to the delicious meal. Service was very attentive and informative. Highly recommend the tasting menu with wine pairing, every dish was phenomenal and the wine selections were perfect. I had lunch today and it was my first experience at this restaurant. I used to love tuvine so I had high expectations and those expectations were met. The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the tuna tartare and the clam chowder and WOW is all I have to say. I couldn't believe that was just their lunch menu so now I'm really excited to come back again for dinner. So, sadly not as impressed as I'd hoped. 2vine atmosphere was more intimate. Loud and open, with sadly obnoxiously loud table next to us with very political and religious cues (apparently not schooled in on pc). Food was just, well food. I'm a bit biased with a husband who is a fabulous cook, but needed more salt. My portion was obnoxiously priced and very large (cut it down), hubs was small and quite frankly they forgot some of the ingredients. Dessert was fabulous, as was bar selection. It was a Friday so, crazy busy, but just would have expected a little more for the price and some comparable restaurants in the area. read more

Went here for brunch and was disappointed. For the price point, the service was not as expected. Ordered an appetizer which was never placed and came after the party of 7 finished their entrees. Also ordered an omelette without mushrooms which they got wrong and then replaced with an undercooked omelette. The service line seems to need some work since the restaurant wasn't full and there were issues with orders and timing the food for our group. Maybe they will iron it out.. read more

The best meal I've had in Rochester! The Lobster risotto was out of this world. Also, had the lamb special which was great. Had the chicken with mole and polenta. The flavors were insane on everything but the chicken was a little overcooked. Dessert was a butterscotch custard which was one of the most amazing desserts I've had period. Had an amazing dinner on a Friday nite at this new and long awaited location. The atmosphere was very welcoming and modern, the staff extremely pleasant, the drinks were great and most of all, the food amazing. We are empty nesters (do they still use that term?) who moved downtown over a year ago and looking for a new great place to walk and have dinner at a reasonable price. The menu had a nice arrangement of items to select with a little change of pace. The 4 of us enjoyed as a starter the chicken wings (the best I ever had ... really) and pork belly ... magnificent! Our entree's were 2 steaks (cooked perfectly), the chicken entree and duck confit dinner. Yum, yum, yum. Our serving staff was so enjoyable and efficient. Nothing but great things to say about this place. A little pricey for more than a few times a month, but a value well worth the cost. Bravo Redd!!!! read more

We went back to Redd for Valentine's weekend and had another five-star experience. My wife raved about the lobster risotto, as have other reviewers. I had the rigatoni bolognese this time, amazing meat sauce. And the tasty wings again. Need to try their pizza at our next dinner. We've had impeccable service for both dinners. I would recommend asking for the general manager, Nick, if you need anything. He has been incredibly gracious and attentive on both of our visits. We have not encountered this level of personal service in a Rochester restaurant. We're still planning to do a Sunday brunch there. read more

We went to Redd tonight for our anniversary - the food was "good", no complaints about the quality, and while we had a wonderful waitress, the meals came while we were half way through our appetizers, they forgot one of our side dishes and the $80 bottle of wine we ordered never showed up. We left in a rush to go to our favorite restaurant, The Cub Room, for dessert. Our leftovers didn't Come Back to the table until After we'd already left, they called to tell us but it wasn't worth coming back for. I'll go again but with reservations. read more

I've been to Redd four times now. I've tried lunch, brunch, and the dinner twice. Every time, I am so floored by the exceptional taste of the food. The tuna tartare, the sashimi of hamachi, smoked trout crostini, and lobster risotto are my favorite starters. I've only tried one of the pizzas - (the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs pizza that's offered during brunch) and it was amazing - practically melted in my mouth! I've also tried the Main fish for dinner (it changes sometimes because mine was sole) and wasn't sure how chorizo would pair with fish, but boy was it good!! The fish was super white and soft and the curry made it explode with even more flavor. Also, the classic moules frites has been a Starter special before and it was great too... they nailed the fries and a lot of restaurants really only have average fries. Clearly I like seafood but I'm typically not the biggest fan of scallops as I've found them to taste bland many times but given how much I like all the food at Redd, I decided to give their scallops a try and I didn't regret it! These guys know what they're doing. For dessert, the butterscotch pot de creme is glorious! I've also had friendly and attentive service every single time so no complaints there either, and I don't think it's overpriced at all, especially for the sensational culinary experience your taste buds are getting. Most of the items are not too expensive and depending on what you order, portions are moderate to generous. Can't wait to come back again and again! read more

Second visit to Redd with a group of friends. We decided to have appetizers followed by Pizza. Last time my wife and I had entrees which were delicious but small and over prized. Overall the apps were quite good; especially the trout crostini and the tuna. Wings (at a fine dining joint!?) were awful, the sauce could have been from a disposable tub at Macdonalds and ridiculous for 15 bucks. The pizza was average and again $15 bucks plus. Cocktails were fine. Overall too expensive. This place needs to find an identity- fine dining or overpriced pizza joint? read more

Uncreative menu which was boring. 6 main courses and 6 pizzas only. I got the duck confit and only got the drumstick without a thigh. So I only got about 3 ounces of meat. Got 5 pieces of Brussel sprouts which were each a quarter of a Brussel sprout (1 ¼ Brussel sprout total) but got plenty of the beans though. Not much of a meal especially for the price. Person with me ordered a pizza. His came 20 minutes after the rest of the meals showed up and most of us had finished eating. They didn't put that on the bill. We were there at 530 so it wasn't the busy time yet. I can't imagine what happens when the kitchen is rushed. read more

I came on a Friday night with an 845 reservation with my friends. We waited about 20 minutes past our reservation time before we sat down. Our waitress was phenomenal. She was so helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. The food was delicious! Everything came out wonderful but The portions were tiny. I Was really looking forward to a meal here based on the popularity and reviews however my dinner did not meet my expectations. I'm glad I tried it but I don't think I would go back. The small portions and high prices made my interest in returning decrease, but I would try lunch! read more

My father and his lovely new girlfriend wanted to take me here for my 43rd birthday. We had been to Two Vine many times and were hopeful that this place would be a worthy replacement. Wow, to say this place is a disappointment would be an understatement at best. While we were waiting for a table, I saw my father discretely speak with the hostess: he had brought me a small cake and was asking if they would bring it out as a surprise after dinner. The hostess said no, there would be a $15 cutting charge, one for each piece of cake cut! My father seemed taken back, and then politely said ok, that's fine, they don't have to cut it. No dice. No $15, no cake. In all my years going to restaurants I've never seen anything quite like it. We left, and had a wonderful birthday meal elsewhere, where they happily brought out the cake and wished me a happy birthday, like any normal, civilized destination. I took a friend to Redd last night (earlyish) to celebrate her Birthday and the food was once again, fabulous! The restaurant filled up fast, even with table spacing. We decided to sit at the bar and after our wine was served, ordered the special app - housemade and wonderfully seasoned chopped chicken livers on crostini which was a delicious starter. We each ordered a pizza - I had my usual with prosciutto and fresh arugula and my friend ordered the corn pizza - both were great! We also shared a salad of heirloom tomatoes and mozzarella in a vinaigrette, and the Chanterelle mushroom risotto which was the star of the evening and will be a must-have on my next visit! The staff were, as usual, attentive and accommodating. I privately told the GM Nick that it was my friend's BDay and he sent over a complimentary luscious butterscotchy pot-au-creme with a quenelle of fresh whipped cream and a candle. It was a lovely way to end a perfect early dinner. read more

We have been here three times for dinner and I certainly consider it one of the better restaurants in Rochester. The ambiance in nice inside, and they have patio seating outside. There are a few menu items that are a bit more expensive, but overall it's reasonable for what you get. The menu also provides a great selection of different flavors and most of the items lend very well for sharing. For the most recent dinner we both decided on the blind tasting menu with the wine pairing and it was a lot of fun letting the chef and sommelier decide your night of food and drink. If dining with two people, each person gets a different meal through all five meals - so if you're sharing, each person gets to try ten different food items. All of the food was plated beautifully and tasted great. The only complaints I would have is that two of the times we have been, the service was very slow. The other complaint would be with the tasting menu. Nine of the ten items we were served are also available on the regular menu (and the one that wasn't could have been a special that night). If you've dined here before, you'll probably be served something you've already had, but if it's your first time I would highly recommend it. I know it's probably hard to manage a tasting menu with off-menu options, but it would have felt a lot more special if they had done that. The food has always been very good, but not amazing...if I could give it 3.75 stars I feel that would be more accurate. read more

We walked in with our reservation and not knowing about the celebrity chef . It was the only nice restaurant that was open on Monday !!! Since we had a late lunch we didn't try many menu items ( as a vegetarian)not too many choices and didn't want to pay 23 dollars for cauliflower . I had the mushroom pizza which was great and the crust was amazing ( not burned ) my friend had the tuna tartare and loved it . The chopped salad had no arugula we asked for no salami they added few chick peas? And olive and it was not good at all especially when it was not what it was suppose to be and expected it to be better for the price . We loved the ambience and the bar had a great vibe . we came from boston so We definitely recommend this restaurant for people who live in the area if we come back we will definitely like to try this place and hopefully they have worked out the kinks and have a better dessert menu .
