Portobello mushroom sandwich with burnt potatoes and a sour pickle
    Maria W.

I came here since the park ranger recommended this place has some solid food. I came in to grab a quick dinner for tonight's campout at Blanco State Park. I walked up to the counter to order, I ordered the portobello mushroom sandwich minus the pesto and cheese with some skillet potatoes. I made sure everything was vegan. I wanted the ginger cookies, but was told they have eggs in them and none of their desserts were vegan. I specifically told the cashier that I was ordering for takeout, he said it was fine. The cashier asked for my name which I gave to be called out once my order was ready. I paid and asked where can I wait for my order. The cashier said to wait at any table, so I did that. I waited for darn near an hour for them to call my name and order. I figured the back of the house was busy, I went to check on the status of my order. I asked a Hispanic lady behind the counter, she directed me to this chick with pink hair and 50s cat eye diner glasses to assist me. She grabbed the only food order and gave it to me. The pink haired chick asked, WHY NOBODY CALLED MY NAME OUT?! I was completely baffled and pissed because I had planned on having a relaxing evening pitching my tent while it was still light out. Not the Hispanic lady nor the cashier knew. Of course, Redbud Cafe didn't do any justice with caring about my time. I told the chick that I was camping and needed to pitch a tent at the state park. The pink haired chick offered an apology more than the incompetent cashier. He didn't even care and said he didn't know why he didn't call my order out. Okay, but my thing is, why did you even ask for my name if you weren't even gonna call me when my order was ready. Just pathetic and stupid on their part. The pink haired chick even offered me a free cookie to make up their mistake (OF COURSE, THE COOKIES AREN'T VEGAN), so I couldn't even accept her gesture. I was just completely frustrated! I will say, indeed the sandwich was bland and cold. The skillet potatoes were burnt and cold. The lavender ice tea was the only tasty thing I had. I'm never returning because of their service towards a minority. They put orders of their own skin color first and I hate that so much to be treated differently. Utter disgust!

OMG! The small town cafe has alcohol! Yup, you get that small town cafe delicious food, and a drink if you want one! The Redbud is famous for its sandwiches. This place was packed the whole time we were there. Stand in line, order, they tell you which table, and then food! The line went quick, and we nibbled on our giant cookies while we waited for our food. There are big posters on the wall with their yearly rainfall on them, from 1900 till now! Who thought of that? Well, our sandwiches came and they were delicious. Glenda got tuna salad on multi grain bread and I got the Western Dip on a French roll. They were delicious! Definitely a place you want to try

There was no line to order. We did the Happy Hour meal selection. The cashier was so engaging and verbose. I like that. The Steak Quesadilla were savory and so filling. The steak was cooked perfectly. The Lavender Margatita is a must try for anyone who likes margaritas and a the taste of lavender. Getting this again for sure. The cookie was sweet, crunchy and soft with strong chocolate notes. Would be great with milk. The Red Bud was getting ready for Trivia night but there was music and plenty of seating. I found the rain fall stats going back several years interesting.

Had an awesome time here with my parents (in their 80's) tonight. We arrived about 6:15, ordered some light food and got a table. Mom and I both enjoyed our seafood gumbos and Dad liked the quiche. The drinks were great too--started with a couple local beers, then switched to mixed drinks. I had something called the Rosebud, I think--was delicious. Mom loved the lavender 'Rita. Those are worth the trip, she said. But the biggest highlight of the night was the music. The Jessie Stratton Band was fantastic. Technically, most of the night was Jessie and his son Joshua (16) who is incredibly talented on the drums/percussion and does good back up vocals, too. They played classics as well as some great Texas country, snd a splash of rock for some variety! They nailed it. Great show; two really talented dudes that were a lot of fun to watch and hear. Definitely check them out if you have the chance. Jessie Stratton Band - Live at Redbud Café (Tonight's Set List--the ones I remembered anyway!) * Corpus Christi Bay - Robert Earl Keen * Mama Tried - Merle Haggard * 7 & 7 - Turnpike Troubadours * East Bound and Down - Jerry Reed * Take Me Home, Country Roads - John Denver * Kryptonite - 3 Doors Down * Feeling Good Again - Robert Earl Keen * In My Arms Instead - Randy Rogers Band

Large space. Staff was friendly and efficient. Price is a bit much for a lunch, but everything was great quality and taste. Pimento and Cheese appetizer: the Pita bread was soft and warm. the Pimento was a great combination of cheese and spices. Some of the better homemade pimento and cheese I have had. Western Dip Sandwich: nice portion of tender meat. the bread was the right amount of chewy and soft. the Au Jus had a great flavor. I honestly inhaled the sandwich it was so good. Lavender Margarita: Nice flavor would recommend if you are wanting to try something a bit different. Lavender Tea: Not the best tea I have had, cold have used a little more sugar. but all in all worth a try. If you are visiting Blanco I would highly recommend giving the Redbud Café a try for lunch.

Went for a leisurely ride to Blanci and stopped at Redbud Cafe for one of their great desserts. Had a generous portion of caramel topped cheesecake, which was smooth and creamy . Great selection of beer on tap and full bar. You got to treat yourself and go here!

We went here on a Sunday when we were driving through Blanco. We stopped just after noon. There wasn't too much of a line to order & there was a lot of open tables. The girl at the register was nice. The food took about 20 minutes to get to us, but was fresh & delicious because it was made to order. I had fish tacos & he a a Reuben. We also had the chocolate cake & a snickerdoodle cookie. The lavender tea was amazing. The atmosphere was super cute. I loved studying the drought/rainfall statistical charts that were posted too. I would drive to eat there again. Downtown was so cute & had lots of fun shops to explore.

Cold lavender marg for a hot day at the Lavender festival

My daughter recently got engaged, and we have been searching for a wedding venue that she falls in love with. That is why we were in Blanco on this particular day. We wanted her to see the Uptown Blanco venue that my wife and I had visited recently. What we didn't realized was that we were in town during Blanco's busiest weekend festival, the Lavender Festival. We knew we were in trouble when we started stop and go traffic on US Hwy. 281 about 5 miles from town. Since we had an appointment scheduled at Uptown Blanco, we just persisted in getting through the traffic. Then finding parking in the entire city became a nightmare. After completing our appointment, everyone decided that we should look around the festival and see what it had to order. It turned out to be a lot of vendor's selling stuff, but I didn't see one vendor selling lavender plants. Being June in Texas, the temperature was "hot", the festival crowd was huge, and everything involved long lines. It wasn't long until we decided we needed something to cool to drink. We looked across the street and saw the Redbud Cafe and headed for it. The line was out the front door, but we braved it anyway. We had been in line about 15 minutes when Ben said that he thought we were in the food line, and he was going to see if they had another line for drinks. He came back in a little while and said he found the line for drinks around the corner. About that time, my wife saw a table open up and she ran for it to get us a place to sit down. Ben and I went to the other line to order drinks while my daughter went with my wife. My daughter had seen a sign for lavender margaritas, and we all thought that would be good to cool us off. I guess a lot of folks had the same idea as the drinks were already pre-made and ready to go. We picked up our drinks and headed to the table. The best thing about those drinks were that they were ice cold. They were also stong:) I can't really rate this place on their food as all we did was drink. However, with the huge crowds in town, they should have had much better signage to let people know what line they were in, or if any other options were available. Will I return? Yes, when it is not so crowded and to try the food.

Stoped by here for a little food and we definitely got more than a 'little' food. We saw this place on YouTube channel and thought we would give it a try. Definitely worth the drive! This place is so cute and makes you feel like you are home. They have a lavender margarita killer! Could have drank 5 of them. Lavender lemonade did drink 5 of them and 1 to go. We got the Ruben and meatloaf sandwiches. Hubby and I always split meals so we can try everything. We did the side of mac and cheese with them. Both sandwiches are well worth it and huge! The Mac and cheese was delicious. I took some of mine home and well I ended up eating in the car because it was that good. If you are in area I'm not sure why you would want to go anywhere else. Oh sorry I forgot the staff. Extremely friendly! I had ordered the lavender lemonade and it was out they made me a fresh batch even though they were closing in a hour. I told them don't worry about it but they did it anyways! The bartender was extremely nice and helpful. Side note I didn't try it (yet) but they do have a loaded Bloody Mary that looks amazing and will definitely try next time we are in the area!

Came in at 5:30 in a Friday. We're staying in town and did some research and really wanted to try the meatloaf sandwich. Unfortunately it was sold out. Went with the Blanco Burger instead. Not disappointed at all. Burger cooked to perfection and the unsung hero on this dish is the jalapeño bun! Highly recommend! The Lavender Lemonade is delicious. Must try the Lavender Margarita. Queso dip is spot on. Highly recommend. Will definitely stop here again when in the area

TLDR: Was visiting my daughter, we decided to do a little road trip to some hill cntry towns. I…read morethought we would do a bbq sandwich tour/comparison. I'd earmarked Old 300 as the place in Blanco, to go up against the others. We arrived on a Monday about 1:20p. After lunch hour, and the place was packed. (that's an indicator right there. One of the slowest days for restaurants during the week, and not at peak meal time.) The line went quick. They have what's listed as a "BBQ Sandwich" - it's a blend of chopped brisket and chopped pulled pork (not in long, stringy strands) together. We were going to hit other towns & sandwiches, so for the two of us we just ordered one sandwich and a side of potato salad. We got it to-go. Sat at an empty table. Got ourselves fixins - some doctored up onions (sliced, seems like they sauté them a little in butter and then top w fresh cracked black pepper), pickles, and both their Sweet and their Spicy sauces. They brought it out quickly, less than 5 min. We opted to just eat it there instead of take it to the next town. We topped with pickles, onions, and the Sweet sauce. Oh my freakin' sweet Lord! In this small Texas town with an unassuming spot a block and a half off the main road going through town, easily one of the top 5 bbq sandwiches of all time - no joke! To break it down, we tasted all items individually. The onions are delectable - softened from the sauté, good moisture from the butter, delicious. The Sweet sauce is crazy good. A fantastic balance of sweet, tang, & slight bite. I've never said this before but it's true - told my daughter, "I could just sit here and dip these pickles in this sauce for the next 30 minutes and be completely satisfied." The sauce, yes, is that good. Daughter is not a heat/spice lover, but she did try the Spicy sauce and we both thought it was definitely tame as far as heat goes. We both thought the Spicy sauce was okay. The Sweet sauce, though, stellar! We were overwhelmed by how good it all was. When we got to the car, I said, "All the ingredients together was like a symphony." Next time I visit her, am absolutely gonna suggest another drive out to Blanco specifically, to try some other items on the menu. But I can say this, for the BBQ Sandwich, pickles, doctored onions, and Sweet sauce alone, Old 300 is worth a generous drive and you will 100 percent be happy as a lark. Thanks for fantastic meal, Old 300. Will most definitely be back.

Wife got the lunch special and it was a massive sandwich with a side and drink...I got brisket, turkey, and jalapeño sausage...all outstanding. I always benchmark a Q joint by the brisket and this place could stand toe to toe with anyone in the Texas top-10. Nice beer selection, clean, fun atmosphere, and not overpriced. Will certainly go back!
