When in Blanco one must be a part of the Redbud experience. It's a wonderful local restaurant. Good food and fun atmosphere.

We visited on a beautiful Spring weekday as people are starting to return to restaurants. Hand sanitizer station is set up right outside the entrance and at the service counter. We saw staff vigorously sanitizing tables between customers. Walk up to order from wonderful salad, sandwich, and burger options. Housemade bread varieties surround each sandwich and burger. Display case filled with handmade cheesecake, muffins, and four kinds of pancake-sized cookies! Irresistible! We ordered the Blanco Burger with home fries. The meat patty was flavorful and at least a half pound. Cooked just right. Topped with bacon, generous amount of cheese, and served on a jalapeno cheese bun. Bun was soft and delicious and actually held everything together till the last bite. We also tried the egg salad sammy on rustic white bread. Huge serving! Filled with chopped green olives and green onions that provided a slight nice tang. Very yummy. Side of delish potato salad was mild and well seasoned. We sat outside on the covered porch and enjoyed drinking lavender iced tea and hibiscus tea with our lunch. Everything was top notch! read more

On the square in Blanco. Old timey feel with some good burgers and sandwiches. They don't serve fries, so be prepared to order something else. I had the bacon blue cheese burger on their jalapeño bun. It was excellent! Two crispy quarter pound patties, fried onions, blue cheese and bacon. You order at the counter and they assign your table when you order. There's plenty of space, but I'm sure it fills up quickly during lunch and dinner. There's a friendly country feel. read more

One place that's open late till 9 at night on Friday And had a great little three-piece band playing. Seems like a lot of locals like this place and it was hopping busy when we got there. I can see why. Hamburgers looked amazing I opted for a blue burger and it was delicious. My dining mates had a turkey sandwich, a Ruben, and a double bacon burger. All of them were very very good. We ordered the queso and salsa and chips. I am a bit of a queso snob and didn't really care for the cheese dip but the salsa with extra cilantro was very good. A cute little three-piece band was perfect complement to a very homey feel. They serve Real Ale Brew and several other wines. Really friendly staff and enjoyed our time and will return again. read more

Originally was going to give a 4 but because of the correction to the order I am giving a 5. I have been to the Redbud Cafe many times before. Always impressed! I come for the famous chocolate chip peanut butter cookie (military/veterans) receive a complimentary cookie that is very much appreciated) and tried a salad to go for dinner that originally I thought was a bit short on being filled. It comes with a small piece of bread and house dressing, all delicious. But when I took the piece of bread out, and the dressing and shook the salad a bit to make sure the salad was correct (supposed to have e cran raisins and pecans and blue cheese crumbles... I noticed it was not filled all the way with lettuce and spinach. At least a quarter of salad was missing. It's a great salad! I've had it before. When plated at the restaurant no issues! But with To-Go maybe a little more attention to filling the box would be appreciated to avoid a redo. It's a $15 salad I believe not including tax and just wanted the box to be filled as it should be not bare space if that makes sense. When I took it to the counter to explain to the young man that it wasn't done correctly he gave me a very confused look and had to explain myself twice. It was during the lavender festival so poor thing was probably tired and exhausted but he did correct it and loaded it up with spinach and it was more filled than before. So for that thank you for making it correctly! Much appreciated! I'll still be back and hopefully will eat the salad at the restaurant. read more

We stopped in at the Redbud in Blanco as part of a Miata swing around and across the Devil's Backbone, top down in splendid Fall weather. We only intended a quick lunch stop. Practically everything about the Redbud Cafe in Blanco is surprising. Let's start with the fact that it's in Blanco. Sorry, Blanco, but to find such an upscale offering in your sweet little town is a surprise. Redbud is downtown, across from the historic courthouse in what probably was a downtown mercantile of some fashion. The venue itself is just this side of charming. Nice outside dining on the old sidewalk looking out over the old downtown. Spare interior decor. All organized intelligently in this COVID era, with plenty of spacing, counter ordering with numbered tables well apart and everyone wearing masks. Service is impeccable. The staff bends over backwards to accommodate, and they are small-town-Blanco friendly. Menu is diverse and eclectic beyond what you'd anticipate. They've a wide variety of breakfast and lunch options suitable to a downtown Austin setting. I had a quiche and spicy Cajun andouille soup. That's right, you Austin-elitist troll. In Blanco. Scrumptious. The soup had a reasonably authentic spice blend, beans, celery, etc. My only complaint was that I only had three actual slices of real andouille. That almost cost you a star, Redbud dudes. The quiche was surprisingly light and fluffy, like a good quiche should be. Enough ham, enough spinach, light flakey crust. No flavor dominated. Well executed. My partner had a chicken salad sandwich the size of Cleveland. Chicken salad is, well, chicken salad. But this was really good chicken salad. A little heavy on the mayo, but, after all, it's chicken salad. It was made with care and served up with epic generosity. There is an incredibly charming gift shop attached next door that you skip only at the peril of your mortal soul. Thank you, Redbud folks, for a thoroughly delightful sojourn and lunch. If I've offended anyone in Blanco . . . oh well. Deal with it. read more

Stopped in for lunch on a Thursday afternoon - day before the Lavender festival - for a birthday lunch. Food - The table got the veggie burger, regular burger and I ordered the Axis burger. Was told the veggie burger was pure vegan and great for the vegetarian at the table. He put the homemade salsa on it that gave it some kick. The girls split the burger and enjoyed it. On to the Axis burger - a venison piece of meat with melted jack cheese, avocado, onions and a spicy mayo. The only downside was all the flavors hide the venison taste, but it was delicious. It was a tough decision to go with this burger over the French Dip or the Reuben sandwiches. The lady at the counter said the Reuben and Axis were the top 2 selling sandwiches, so I will go with he Reuben next time. Finished off with a birthday cheesecake (without the raspberry sauce). This was a fluffy cheesecake with a great graham cracker crust that was devoured. Atmosphere - It is an open space that you order at the counter and it is brought to the table. Friendly staff and loved having these nice local ladies that were attentive to details, sweet, and prompt with their service. Drinks - They have a bunch of beers on tap (mostly Real ALe) but also a number of bottles; including 6-packs to go. We all got a number of draft beers to wash down the sandwiches. Really nice place for lunch. Efficient ordering especially for a group wanting to pay separately. Lots of options that all sound good. I ended up ordering a combination with a pimento cheese sandwich, pear snd bleu cheese salad and Cajun soup. Each item was delicious and I took about half home. Nice store next door too with nice lavender items and a variety of other items. All in all very nice for a ladies lunch. We drove from Fredericksburg which was a lovely drive. read more

The drinks were overpriced and took a very long time. They only tasted okay and weren't bigger than normal, so I don't understand the cost. The food menu was lunch-like, even at dinner time, and we would have liked more choices. The music was great. It's too bad they don't schedule bands during the day (earlier) so that the food matches the occasion. The drink menu is not visible from the ordering line. You'd have to go around the corner to see what the options are. We'd go back for the music, but the restaurant could use some improvements. read more

Food is good, employees do a good job. Music has always been way too loud unless you are there specifically to listen to it. Don't recommend for an evening out with family or friends where you want to visit. Impossible to have a conversation and hear what is being said. Building needs better acoustics. read more

I have nothing to say about the actual entree because we never got it. We did get our hummus which was simple warmed microwave bagged pita and some sort of weird hummus. I would compare it to pre-chewed food because the consistency is not of hummus I ever had. Luckily I had a sweet tooth so I had a cookie because at the hour mark we still did not have food. By that time my child is losing his mind because he's hungry (we ordered him half a grilled cheese) and no one acknowledged anything. My husband asked about our order and they said it would be another 10mins or so. We asked for our order instead to go. We still didn't have anything and after sitting for over an hour with a hungry child we decided to leave. The one star is because at least we got the money back for the food we never got. There was not much in the way of sorry, and the guy ahead of us also asked for a refund. While they were processing our refund another lady came and asked about her order and was told another 5-7 mins. Maybe this is normal? It wasn't super busy, plenty of tables were open, but I wish we would have had some sort of warning it was so backed up. I ended up having a drink and a cheesecake. Both were ok. In town for work, first time in Blanco. I'd done some research, and decided that Redbud was where I wanted lunch. I saw a pic of the Reuben sandwich someone else had posted, and was sold. Got to the restaurant for late lunch around 2 pm, so it wasn't very busy. I ordered my Reuben sandwich, with potato salad for the side. The staff were super friendly and patient with me, and helped me through the ordering process. Service was very quick. The sandwich looked amazing, and I dove in. After my first bite, the words I uttered were "oh, my God!" This seriously had to be the best Reuben I've ever had, and I've had some from real NY delis. The pastrami was sooooo tender. The rye bread was perfectly crispy. The overall taste of the sandwich was spot on, from the slight sweetness of the thousand island dressing, to the tang of the sauerkraut. The one "meh" was the potato salad. I didn't think it was all that...but the Reuben more than made up for it. I live in Kyle, and am already figuring out my next trip to Blanco just so I can have the Reuben again. I can't wait! Definitely recommend!!!! read more

I wish I could give a better rating. The staff was very helpful and nice. Food could be better though. Had a hamburger. The patty was cooked well and tasted good but it was half the size of the giant bun. I was initially served cold potatoes but they jumped at the chance to replace them with hot ones. Unfortunately, they were barely cooked... Some were still pretty raw. Getting them crispy was said not to be an option. Asked for ranch dressing on the side. Sadly it was from a bottle and not very good. These are just some things they could do better. I love the oil cloth table cloth's and that they have added outdoor seating. I had the meatloaf sandwich which was wonderful. The sourdough bread tasted fresh. I also had the potato salad but it tasted bland. It did not have mustard in it or onion or pickle or hard boiled egg. Maybe I just expect more in a salad than mayonnaise and potatoes. But I will go back and try something else. read more

I was really disappointed by my experience at this restaurant. Everything is self-service and a la carte which makes it impossible to excuse or understand their outrageous pricing. A kids' grilled cheese is $8.95 just for the sandwich. No sides or drink is offered to make it a meal. A glass of tea which you get for yourself is $3.50. Service from the cashier was poor, he couldn't have been less welcoming or interested in customer service, but the busser was kind and helpful. Perhaps my expectations of small town Texas hospitality were too high, but I'll never go back to this establishment to find out. read more
