We stopped here for lunch on a trip to Blanco to shop at some stores on the town square. It's conveniently located nearby. Both of us ordered the goat burger that had pickled onions, fig jam, and melted goat cheese. It was perfectly cooked to order and came out hot and fresh. I had sweet potato fries with mine, and the burger and fries were both amazingly good! We went at lunch time, and it got pretty busy while we were there, but the service was excellent all the way through our meal. It's a cute place, and it appears to be well-maintained, and it was very clean. It's about a 30-minute drive from where I live, but it's so good that we will definitely be back! read more

Came here w my toddler on a whim bc the reviews were so good and bc the bbq place hadn't opened yet--i'd definitely skip this place if I were you. Ordered the sopes and a drip coffee for myself and a single pancake w bacon and 1 scrambled egg for my toddler--total was $30.08. That's crazy. This is the type of food that tourists might think is good and authentic, but it's far from it. First, the drip coffee was nasty, like gas station coffee, and they don't have real half and half, only those factory coffee mate creamers--for $30, I'd expect some REAL options. The sopes were tiny, and took over 40 mins to reach our table. I got the black beans and nopales on the side, the black beans were just that and A TON of cumin, and the nopales were straight out of a jar--the pickled kind, super salty. The pancake was good, (my kid isn't picky, but FYI the batter has nutmeg and cinnamon and possible cloves? Tasted like a pumpkin spice situation without the pumpkin) but the syrup is just fake flavored syrup from Sysco...eggs and bacon were whatever, but who can mess that up? Anyway, super disappointing meal for a mom who usually cooks GOOD food 3 times a day, every day. The staff was okay, but there was one young blonde girl who was so rude to the older lady running around cleaning tables-- Last thing, we waited sooooo long for our food, I didn't appreciate how rushed they made me feel after the food arrived, asking if I was done w the salsa, and the syrup. This is our new go-to for breakfast in Blanco. A lovely spot with very friendly and helpful staff. But the best part is the food! We can't comment on the entire menu, as we both just had the Bib Bend Omelet, but wow! Their food is possibly the freshest and best tasting we've had. Each bite was packed with flavors and textures. They source as much as they can locally, and organically - when possible. We were still raving about our breakfast at dinner time. Unfortunately, we're only in Blanco once a month, but are already looking forward to our next Rio Blanco Cafe experience. Extremely recommended!! read more

Not sure if my experience was different from the other reviewers but the set up was a little chaotic. We were seated and given menus and then told we needed to go up to the counter to do the ordering. The man wanted coffee right away, before we had decided what to eat, and was given a number for our table. Really long line to order and the staff was confused as to what we were ordering and whether or not we had already paid and then took the first number and gave us another one. Make sure you know everything you're going to order and just go up once. You have to pay right after ordering and if you don't have cash, you're more or less forced to tip before the dining experience is completed. The 3rd star is for the food, which was pretty tasty and served quickly. They need to provide some sort of orientation to the process otherwise, mass confusion and frustration. read more

The husband and I were driving back to San Antonio from a weekend in Burnet, Tx. and decided to stop somewhere in Blanco for breakfast. After reading the reviews, I suggested to stop here. When I say run, don't walk to this place, I mean it. It is a small establishment, but that is part of the charm! It looks like an old converted house, which I love. They have an outstanding coffee bar, which is where you order your food from.....and now the food. Husband ordered the huevos rancheros and the presentation was very elegant, and the taste was just as great! I ordered the pancakes with eggs, and the pancakes came with a hint of cinnamon, and I had them made with blueberries and sprinkled with pecans. The eggs were so good and I appreciated the fact that they were cooked in butter. All I can say is AMAZING!!!! read more

My daughter and I are visiting from Dallas and decided to eat breakfast here. I can say this is the best breakfast I've eaten in a while. Dallas has a plethora of really delicious eateries but I have not found any sopes that come close to these. The quiche and side salad were outstanding as well. Their salsa is authentic, homemade. The atmosphere is inviting and warm, the owner an absolute delight... Be prepared to embrace the slower country pace and enjoy a more relaxed family atmosphere. I finished eating and my wife's Quiche had not arrived. had to ask for the coffee we ordered, had to ask twice for the Quiche. a couple of teenagers are in charge and the only adult heard my concerns expressed to the teenaged waitress but didn't step up to address my concerns. $36 for a disappointing meal. What a delightful surprise at Rio Blanco Cafe! Friendly service, fresh ingredients, homey interiors, tasty food. We'll definitely be back! We were driving through from Canyon Lake to Marble Falls and wanted to try a new breakfast spot. Yelp said this place was new and good with a river view - alright let's try it! Arrival was a little confusing coming from 281 at Main in Blanco. Once you're on RR 165, just look on the right for the big limestone-lined Tillman Resort compound with an RV park and lots of cute white casitas lining the river. Be sure to not block any of the casita parking spots. The cafe is breakfast & lunch only, and closed on Wednesdays. They have a full coffee, tea, and smoothie bar, several pastries, and some canned drinks, so if you are in a big hurry, you can get something quick. You can even order in advance online through the Clover app or at https://www.clover.com/online-ordering/rio-blanco-cafe-blanco . If you have time, the tacos and other hot food items are made-to-order with the freshest ingredients. We really enjoyed our tacos and the 3 different homemade salsas, as well as the daily agua fresca (watermelon today). The cafe has access to some of the common outdoor spaces of the resort with some shaded seating and views of the Blanco River. Sadly, the epic heat wave and drought of summer 2023 has pretty much dried up this section of river near the cafe. I'll be excited to see how it looks next spring after some needed rain. read more

Out for a weekend ride on the motorcycle, the wife and I saw this little place a few days before and wanted to try it. Sunday morning at 9:30 we stopped in. The restaurant is in the Tillman resort and situated across from a few small casitas to rent on the river and a RV park. What a fantastic location! The restaurant is small but quaint. Tables and booths with lots of windows and natural light. Local artist art on the walls. The hostess sat us at a booth, gave us a couple menus, and told us to order at the register when we were ready. The wife selected the quiche and salad and I the Big Bend spinach mushroom Swiss omelet. The omelet eggs were cooked perfectly. Cubed russet potatoes and sourdough toast finished the plate. The quiche tasted fantastic too. Pancho brought out some salsa and explained that the salsa and salad dressings were made in house and most of the ingredients are organic. The meal was so delicious and will cause us to return often. What a great little place. Check it out if you make it to Blanco. Bon appetite Yelpers! read more

An easy 5 stars! I had the Huevos Rancheros and they were the perfect flavor. My husband and I also shared the Texas biscuit with sausage gravy and it was flavorful and hearty without being too heavy. Great little cafe located in the Tillman Resort just outside of Blanco along the Blanco River, hence the name of the cafe. We eaten at cafes attached to "resorts" in the past and frankly didn't have high expectations for Rio Blanco, so we were surprised to find such and neat, clean and welcoming cafe at Tillman's. Then the food came and we were delighted. We only had breakfast at Rio Blanco, but it was outstanding. I ordered the Mexican Breakfast with sunny side up eggs which came out perfectly cooked, crispy edges and runny yoke! With choice of flour or corn tortillas I selected flour and expected a couple of soft warm tortillas, but I was pleasantly surprised when I plate showed up with a couple of flour tortillas folded over and slightly fried, with cheese concoction filling them. They were the highlight of my breakfast. My wife had the Breakfast Plate with scrambled eggs, bacon, and potatoes which she enjoyed, sharing some of her perfectly browned potatoes with me. Unfortunately, we had lunch and dinner plans with our group outside of Tillman's, so we were unable to try their lunch and dinner options. But if they are anything like breakfast, you'd be in for a treat. read more

This is located in the Tillman Resort just a stones throw from Blanco....more then likely we will stay here next time we visit. It was so peaceful...Super friendly service from the Host and the Chef. Another gem that caught my eye was the Blue Corn tortillas for the breakfast tacos....We both picked one each of Bacon, Egg and Cheese and Chorizo, Egg and Cheese....Along with there in house made salsas and it made for a fantastic bite. AND another highlight was there house blend coffee that was way better then some of the higher end Austin Breakfast joints we visit. Over all an amazing visit that we will visit again! read more

I can't believe it took me so long to come in! Homemade tortillas and salsas, signature dishes like orange-marinated beef tacos with pickled onions, and a bright cheerful atmosphere make this cafe a great stop for breakfast and lunch in Blanco. They also have a full service coffee bar; even their drip coffee is outstanding! Pancho and Luis are the sole chef and staff here; both are extremely friendly and hospitable. My only complaint is they aren't open for dinner (but that's just me being selfish!) I have a feeling I'll be spending quite a few mornings here in the future :) read more
