Great service -- friendly, welcoming. Food was on point! We got eggs, potatoes, the biscuit & rio sausage & gravy, and the chicken tinga sopes. Everything was delicious. Environment was cozy.

Came here w my toddler on a whim bc the reviews were so good and bc the bbq place hadn't opened yet--i'd definitely skip this place if I were you. Ordered the sopes and a drip coffee for myself and a single pancake w bacon and 1 scrambled egg for my toddler--total was $30.08. That's crazy. This is the type of food that tourists might think is good and authentic, but it's far from it. First, the drip coffee was nasty, like gas station coffee, and they don't have real half and half, only those factory coffee mate creamers--for $30, I'd expect some REAL options. The sopes were tiny, and took over 40 mins to reach our table. I got the black beans and nopales on the side, the black beans were just that and A TON of cumin, and the nopales were straight out of a jar--the pickled kind, super salty. The pancake was good, (my kid isn't picky, but FYI the batter has nutmeg and cinnamon and possible cloves? Tasted like a pumpkin spice situation without the pumpkin) but the syrup is just fake flavored syrup from Sysco...eggs and bacon were whatever, but who can mess that up? Anyway, super disappointing meal for a mom who usually cooks GOOD food 3 times a day, every day. The staff was okay, but there was one young blonde girl who was so rude to the older lady running around cleaning tables-- Last thing, we waited sooooo long for our food, I didn't appreciate how rushed they made me feel after the food arrived, asking if I was done w the salsa, and the syrup. RIP $30. One Star bc food was edible and place was clean, but I won't be back.

What an amazing find just outside Blanco. Fresh Mexican/Carribean/Texan food, very friendly and experenced staff and great and tasty coffees. Well worth visiting.

The husband and I were driving back to San Antonio from a weekend in Burnet, Tx. and decided to stop somewhere in Blanco for breakfast. After reading the reviews, I suggested to stop here. When I say run, don't walk to this place, I mean it. It is a small establishment, but that is part of the charm! It looks like an old converted house, which I love. They have an outstanding coffee bar, which is where you order your food from.....and now the food. Husband ordered the huevos rancheros and the presentation was very elegant, and the taste was just as great! I ordered the pancakes with eggs, and the pancakes came with a hint of cinnamon, and I had them made with blueberries and sprinkled with pecans. The eggs were so good and I appreciated the fact that they were cooked in butter. All I can say is AMAZING!!!!

What a delightful surprise at Rio Blanco Cafe! Friendly service, fresh ingredients, homey interiors, tasty food. We'll definitely be back! We were driving through from Canyon Lake to Marble Falls and wanted to try a new breakfast spot. Yelp said this place was new and good with a river view - alright let's try it! Arrival was a little confusing coming from 281 at Main in Blanco. Once you're on RR 165, just look on the right for the big limestone-lined Tillman Resort compound with an RV park and lots of cute white casitas lining the river. Be sure to not block any of the casita parking spots. The cafe is breakfast & lunch only, and closed on Wednesdays. They have a full coffee, tea, and smoothie bar, several pastries, and some canned drinks, so if you are in a big hurry, you can get something quick. You can even order in advance online through the Clover app or at https://www.clover.com/online-ordering/rio-blanco-cafe-blanco . If you have time, the tacos and other hot food items are made-to-order with the freshest ingredients. We really enjoyed our tacos and the 3 different homemade salsas, as well as the daily agua fresca (watermelon today). The cafe has access to some of the common outdoor spaces of the resort with some shaded seating and views of the Blanco River. Sadly, the epic heat wave and drought of summer 2023 has pretty much dried up this section of river near the cafe. I'll be excited to see how it looks next spring after some needed rain.

This place makes me want to visit again and again! The breakfast tacos were superb but the scones were something extra special. Everything we had was fantastic! It is hard to say a lot about breakfast tacos but those homemade blue corn tortillas were phenomenal. Don't pass this place by! You will be missing out! Now I want to come back and try it for lunch.

Had a really fantastic breakfast here with the family this morning. Super sweet staff, nothing but smiles on their faces the whole time. I'm not a coffee drinker, but the coffee did look amazing and I heard people raving about the coffee the whole time. The restaurant felt like home. Really good food and very nice ambiance. The guys that run the place are super nice. I had the breakfast taco with homemade blue taco, eggs, black beans, and avocado. My husband had the huevos, which he is still talking about. The coffee was so good we bought a bag. We also got two scones we're saving for later. A big recommendation!! read more

We ordered the Mexican breakfast and huevos rancheros plate. Really yummy fresh eggs and refried refried beans. They have three different salsas that were tasty. They also sell their own coffee beans, the coffee is very good, don't need to add anything to it. Be sure to try a pancake! The service was very friendly and welcoming! Definitely plan to eat breakfast and lunch here when visiting blanco ! read more

wonderful to locate a beautiful new place in Blanco for having a perfect oat-milk cafe latte by the river! their coffee beans are from a a coffee-roaster in wimberley, nearby. this is a brand new place, right inside the Tilman Resort grounds @ 1705 FM165, a 1 or 2 minute drive from city hall in blanco. open for breakfasts & lunch (all days, except wednesdays, from 630a till 2p.) the breakfast tacos were delish & the blueberry pound cake was moist & just sweet enough. perfect! owners said they're planning to start a dinner service before long. i hope so! a bright & cheerful cafe, it has a casual coffee-bar vibe about it, with armchair areas & free wifi, as well as lots of dining space. super friendly & with good food to boot, i love it! ps the address that yelp lists below is not correct!! 1705 FM 165, blanco tx is correct address. read more

Stopped in during a road trip so glad we did! The staff was really friendly. The green salsa was absolutely delicious I wish I had more things to smother with it. This place is friendly and layer back with cafe vibes. They have artwork from local artist hanging on the walls. My friend ordered the huevos Rancheros and those were also super good the black beans and potatoes were over the top delicious. If you're on your way done you should definitely stop on by! read more

It's hard to find a place with good tacos and good coffee - but here it is. Tacos were made to order and delicious. They also had some great looking blue corn tortillas for sale by the dozen. I wasn't headed home, so I didn't get them but next time I will. Address was hard to find - but owners gave me the right address - 1705 FM 165. read more

We had an excellent experience here at Rio Blanco Cafe. The owners Luis and Poncho are the sweetest and friendliest. Even though Poncho who was running the kitchen and was very busy, he checked on us multiple times during our meal as did Luis to make sure we had everything we needed. Had to try based on other yelp reviews. It did not disappoint!!! The food was freshly made- with fresh ingredients you could taste. My favorite part of my meal was that you could choose potatoes or carrots. ( I can't have potatoes due to high potassium.) I was told carrots were locally sourced and they were delicious. The sauces were phenomenal! Do not miss experimenting with those! Luis was super friendly and the ambiance was quaint. Food is made to order but did not take too long! Wow, this place blew my mind in all the right ways and had me feeling some type of way. We drove into the parking lot, and it is in the cutest little riverfront resort. Having no extremely high expectations of the food, I decided to order the huevos rancheros and a breakfast taco. Boy, my taste buds went to another dimension with the fresh, local ingredients prepared in such a thoughtful manner. I will be thinking about that breakfast taco, the uniquely cooked tortilla and the fresh jalapeños for awhile. I will be coming back to blanco just for this taco. HIGHLY RECOMMEND read more

Who cares about all the salsas offered when there isn't a vessel for delivery. She had a Taco Salad and I had the combo plate of SA famous Puffy Taco and Enchilada. BTW, no tomato component on the rice. Carrots and peas. Rice, deplorable. Beans, OK. I asked for a Sour Cream sauce on my enchilada only to get cheese. Filling correct; they opted to just leave the sauce off completely. Didn't even eat half of the food. Never stopping here again.

Let's get straight to it. The service was great, the bathroom was clean, and the tables were clean. It could use a little update, but that's not what I'm reviewing this time. We had the papas locas, quesabirria, and fajitas chilingas and of course corn tortillas! The basic chips and salsa were brought to the table. The salsa literally tasted like only black pepper. I thought there is no way anyone on purpose puts that much black pepper in a salsa. Maybe an accident? It was inedible. Kinda of scared us with the start. The next dish was good but not good. Let me explain. The papas locas are just fries, with some type of white cheese sauce, guac, meat, and sour cream. It just felt lazy. It needed something to tie it all together. It wasn't until they brought our mains, with the spicy table sauces that it hit. It needs some type of spice, to mellow out the richness and balance and meld it all together. The portion was great for the price. Maybe add jalapeños and you hit something. The mains on the other hand were dang good. Especially the birria. In this world of food trends, the quesabirria is the current star. Most places have their own version, but the top two mistakes, is that the make its either entirely too salty or they don't add enough spice and it feels more like a broth for soup rather than a true consume. This place did neither. The munchkin has never said any birria is as good or better than mine. Well looks like the day came. It was absolutely fantastic! The corn tortillas, spectacular alone, elevated this to the point it's probably in the top three birria tacos I've ever had anywhere! Bravo! The fajitas chilangas were great. But the problems I always have resurfaced from time to time. First, this was cheap bistec, they just seasoned it perfectly. NOT fajita. The chicken was good, and the chorizo and jalapeno were a great new way to have it. The problem is there was neither enough chorizo nor jalapeno to take it to the level of the birria. It was almost good enough, but with the beautifully executed corn tortillas, it was more than adequate for our hunger pangs. The charro beans I asked for were actually undercooked. That is a first for me. They are usually overcooked. They had decent flavor, just needed more time. The table salsas were also good. Just enough spice, and just enough heat. Not salty at all. I work stop by again if I was in the area! We had great dessert, but can't give them credit since it was a third party.

TLDR: Was visiting my daughter, we decided to do a little road trip to some hill cntry towns. I…read morethought we would do a bbq sandwich tour/comparison. I'd earmarked Old 300 as the place in Blanco, to go up against the others. We arrived on a Monday about 1:20p. After lunch hour, and the place was packed. (that's an indicator right there. One of the slowest days for restaurants during the week, and not at peak meal time.) The line went quick. They have what's listed as a "BBQ Sandwich" - it's a blend of chopped brisket and chopped pulled pork (not in long, stringy strands) together. We were going to hit other towns & sandwiches, so for the two of us we just ordered one sandwich and a side of potato salad. We got it to-go. Sat at an empty table. Got ourselves fixins - some doctored up onions (sliced, seems like they sauté them a little in butter and then top w fresh cracked black pepper), pickles, and both their Sweet and their Spicy sauces. They brought it out quickly, less than 5 min. We opted to just eat it there instead of take it to the next town. We topped with pickles, onions, and the Sweet sauce. Oh my freakin' sweet Lord! In this small Texas town with an unassuming spot a block and a half off the main road going through town, easily one of the top 5 bbq sandwiches of all time - no joke! To break it down, we tasted all items individually. The onions are delectable - softened from the sauté, good moisture from the butter, delicious. The Sweet sauce is crazy good. A fantastic balance of sweet, tang, & slight bite. I've never said this before but it's true - told my daughter, "I could just sit here and dip these pickles in this sauce for the next 30 minutes and be completely satisfied." The sauce, yes, is that good. Daughter is not a heat/spice lover, but she did try the Spicy sauce and we both thought it was definitely tame as far as heat goes. We both thought the Spicy sauce was okay. The Sweet sauce, though, stellar! We were overwhelmed by how good it all was. When we got to the car, I said, "All the ingredients together was like a symphony." Next time I visit her, am absolutely gonna suggest another drive out to Blanco specifically, to try some other items on the menu. But I can say this, for the BBQ Sandwich, pickles, doctored onions, and Sweet sauce alone, Old 300 is worth a generous drive and you will 100 percent be happy as a lark. Thanks for fantastic meal, Old 300. Will most definitely be back.

Overall, this is a decent Texas BBQ joint. I'd come back
