From the moment we walked in, we were greeted and put at ease. Our server was very kind and gave helpful recommendations. The food was delicious as well and I will definitely be returning as they have a wide variety of menu options to try whether you're a steak person or not.

We've…read morelived in New Braunfels for eight years and had always heard great things, so we were genuinely excited to finally try it. Unfortunately, the experience was a major disappointment. From the moment we arrived, the service felt underwhelming. The greeting was lackluster, with very little warmth or enthusiasm, and we were seated next to the kitchen and restrooms, not exactly the atmosphere we had hoped for on such a special occasion. Throughout the evening, the waitstaff seemed disengaged and offered very little interaction beyond the basics. The tuna appetizer was fine, but it ended up being the best part of the meal. My husband ordered the Wagyu strip steak, and it was extremely disappointing. It was tough, gristly, improperly cooked, and lacked the rich flavor you would expect from a quality steak. In fact, it had an almost unpleasant taste. Management was kind enough to remove the inedible steak from the bill. I ordered the filet and shrimp. The filet was okay, but certainly not memorable and nowhere near what I expected from a restaurant with this reputation and price point. The shrimp were even more disappointing--just three boiled shrimp with no real flavor other than the butter poured over them. Honestly, I've had better steak and shrimp combinations at chain restaurants such as Longhorn steakhouse - not the comparison expected when spending 2-3x the price. We also ordered the scalloped potatoes, which were simply awful. They were dry, bland, and had a strange dusty taste that made them difficult to enjoy. For a restaurant that positions itself as a premier steakhouse, this was a surprisingly poor experience. What should have been a memorable anniversary dinner turned into a meal that left us frustrated and disappointed. Between the lackluster service, poor seating, and disappointing food, we left wondering how this restaurant earned its reputation. Sadly, I can't recommend Myron's based on our experience, and we won't be returning.

On the advice of a good friend the suggestion was to try J-Prime Steakhouse's"Social Hour." I have…read moreheard about many times but I never found the perfect occasion to try it. But at my age anytime you are over ground is the best occasion. I have heard it is real fancy. And it is. Do not come in Crocs and sweatpants. This is not that restaurant. It is that restaurant where you should make reservations. It is also a place that emphasizes presentation and service. We came right when it opened and we informed the hostess of our reservations. We were seated in the bar area. Once inside I was struck by its ambience. It is sleek, dark and dare say "sexy." Our server, who was extremely attentive came to our table and took our drink orders. My partner ordered an Old Fashioned and me, a Lagunitas IPA. Whilst waiting for our drinks I looked over the room. One thing I noticed was a barrier that separated the bar area and the dining room. The Social Hour is meant, to socialize. I saw couples leaning into each other. Another group were drinking martinis with a seafood tower, almost touching the ceiling. Conversations were had. Romantic glances were exchanged. It isn't a casual place like Bubba's 33 nor Texas Roadhouse. It feels like a place best suited for a date night or an anniversary. I'm wondering how the dining room area is? The Social Hour does offer some drink and small bites specials. We ordered the kabob with pineapple, brussel sprouts, and sliders. They were all pretty great. It reminded me of the same experience as in partaking in tapas. I would remiss if I didn't relay our service here, it was excellent. Our server, Holiday(I hope I spelled it right.) treated us like we were the only patrons there. I've gone to upscale restaurants where staff looks at you up and down. Or they try to size you up. This is not that place. Which was so refreshing. If this place went above and beyond my expectations why didn't I give it four stars? In my opinion I think that a place that creates an upscale experience needs to have a few beers on tap. Even places like Wing Daddy's or Chili's offers a few beers on tap. Secondly, the bar area seating feels a bit tight. I wonder when the dinner crowd arrives would you be in the lap, of someone else's conversation? I still highly recommend this place. The Social Hour area is perfect for a date or an anniversary. The service and food were both excellent. And I've never been to a place where you are given warm hand towels. It reminded me of that scene with Adam Sandler in "The Wedding Singer" minus Billy Idol.

NOT ALLERGY SAFE. My review is not based on the food. My wife and I were going to try JPrime for…read morethe first time for an anniversary dinner. I called ahead to make sure that their food handlers did not use any latex gloves, which are prohibited by many governments, cities, and industries, due to life threatening allergic reactions. I was assured that they were latex-safe. They use nitrile and vinyl gloves. OK! We're good. But when we arrived there were perhaps hundreds of latex balloons throughout the restaurant, several at each table. No employee knew anything about them, other than that they were rubber balloons bought on Amazon. Rubber is latex As many as 15% of Americans have latex allergies. Symptoms can be as mild as undiagnosed gastro distress, (great for a restaurant's reputation) and as severe as a fatal anphalaxis. A "premium" restaurant should know the risks, avoid these easily-avoided dangers, and protect their guests. Either they did not know, or did not care. Both are unacceptable.

For starters, we had the French Onion Soup and the Wedge Salad. The soup was good, it was on the sweeter side though which wasn't my favorite. The salad was fresh, crunchy, and light. Definitely a highlight! For the main course, we had the 8oz Filet, 16oz Ribeye, and the Char-Grilled Jumbo Shrimp. This is what made this steakhouse standout to me. Everything was season and cooked to perfection. The side of the Brandy Mushroom Sauce was a great addition to the steak. The Filet was soft, juicy, and just perfect in every bite. The Ribeye was full of flavor and overall was a very good steak. The shrimp was some of the best shrimp I've had. The seasoning was impeccable, it was juicy, and tasty. For sides, we had the Baked Potato and Broccoli. The potato was a 10/10 and you were able to add more or less of what you wanted with the do it yourself style. I loved it! The broccoli was cooked great it was just very saturated in a pool of olive oil. Finally, dessert was a huge highlight and I loved every single bite. We got the Triple Chocolate Double Fudge Brownie. It was like eating a molten lava cake as a brownie. It was soft, gooey, chocolatey, fudgey, and everything you would want from a brownie and so much more. If you have not tried this steakhouse and are in the area of San Antonio, you need to come here because it will not disappoint by any means!

The Open Table reservation allowed us an option to designate our visit as an anniversary. I recommend this feature (if appropriate), as it led to ambiance features that enhanced the occasion. The ribeye and filet menu items we chose were cooked to the specified flavor and tenderness that we were seeking, and the roasted Brussel sprouts were a perfect complement. The dessert we enjoyed was bread pudding and vanilla ice cream, an exceptional dish. Our server, Ray, was very perceptive and anticipated many things that demonstrate instinct and made our anniversary meal extraordinary. I have read (and written) many reviews that give quantitative measures of remarkable service, but I rarely see a server described as a phenom of skill and adaptability. Every little thing was commensurate and accommodated our pace and prospect. Ray demonstrated intuition, and prescience so we could enjoy the meal, our conversation, and a memorable anniversary.

However, it was a disappointment despite its high rating. My husband ordered a New York strip cooked medium-plus, and it arrived bloody red. We sent it back--twice--and by the third attempt, the steak was completely overcooked and chewy. To make matters worse, they took the steak and left the side dish so by now it was already cold. At the least they should have offered to return with a brand new steak with fresh side dish. It would have been still acceptable. For the steakhouse and they can't even cook the steak right. Unfortunately, this experience fell far short of expectations.
