I am very disappointed with the way this issue was handled. These defective boots should have been replaced, yet they were instead sent for repair. They just came back from Red Wing in Concord, and the outcome is unacceptable. The visible residue all around the boots is excess glue used to piece them back together, leaving them in worse condition than before. How is it possible that they felt it was acceptable to hand these back to me in this condition? This is not the quality I expect from Red Wing. read more

I never thought in a million (or at least 35 because that's when I bought my first pair of Red Wings) years that I would be writing this review but I am so disappointed with the service and my overall experience at the Red Wing shoe store on Willow Pass in Concord that it's warranted. My company requires that I wear steel toe safety boots/shoes. I didn't think twice before I went to Red Wing because I've had such great results with shoes I've purchased and worked in for many years. I spent $165.00 on a pair of steel toe shoes. (Not boots for the record). I loved them for a month. The fit was great. The arch support was great (I have flat feet and these shoes really helped my knee and back pain!) but after only about a month of wearing them to work, I felt irritation in the back of my left heal. When I checked out the back of the shoe, I found that the lining had developed a slight tear and was digging in, after a month! I didn't think much of it because they were Red Wings and they would exchange them because they stand behind their shoes. NOT ANYMORE! The first person that looked at my shoe said it was considered "Regular wear" and there was no return. She said the return policy was "30 days new in the box." I explained I had just bought them a month ago and I only where them for work. She went and got her manager. The manager told me the same thing, that it was considered wear and there was nothing they could do. She asked if I had been fitted for the shoes and I said that was not offered to me but that the shoes fit great and performed well until the tear developed. She offered to give me a fitting at that time but said they would not replace the shoes. So what? I get the fitting and spend another $165 bucks on shoes? Bottom line, they made me feel like it was my fault that the liner tore and I must be taking them off wrong? I can't believe that they think one month of wearing work shoes and having them fail is considered normal wear. She gave me an "800" number to call. Beware! read more

The older lady is very rude with no customer service whatsoever. I would think if a customer is ready to purchase $200-$300 dollars pair of shoes/boots to support our local Red Wing shoe store we can somewhat feel appreciated. I probably won't again. Maybe! read more

Went to the store and they had no size 14 in the 6" high boots. Tried selling me something with a shorter top, and then started talking about ordering some boots. I told them I should be able to walk into your store and try on numerous boots, without having to order anything and make another trip to the store to see if they fit, then walked out of the store. I've gone to Red Wing since I was a teenager and I'm now 69. Red Wing has sure gone into the dumps over the years. I have bought several boots from this store for my son-in-law and today I called, and they had no record of him at all. I guess they got a new system. Just poor customer service. They tell you they keep everything on file, and now there is no file. What happens if I want to bring the boots in to get re-soled? I was helped by Ronda and Asia who were incredibly patient, professional, and completely confident in the product that they sell. I got my first pair of Iron Rangers 8085 about a month ago and couldn't be happier. From the fit (after break in which is brutal), to the looks, to the stellar construction there is no box left unchecked. My brother also got fitted with a pair of boots but that didn't work out so I took the plunge and bought a second pair of Iron Rangers 8084 which I'm breaking it now. What a joke been shopping here for years, they only allow 3 people inside. some guy with his wife or girlfriend was in there, instead of asking her (no she wasn't shopping for her self)to leave so another customer could shop I was made to wait outside for 15 min. Red wing shoes are definately the way to go if your job requires many hours on your feet and especially if you need protection on your feet. Back in the day when I waited tables I wore them even though admittedly they were kinda ugly, it didn't matter, my feet didn't hurt as bad at the end of the day. My husband when he actively did the construction he now manages had to have them and he still owns them! He also has newer ones for projects around the house or site visits. This last visit was to purchase my eldest sons 1st pair as he has just landed a job in the construction/electrician field. I had forgotten how thourough they are with your little piggys. We found the perfect boot, steel toes and electrical rated, ofcourse waterproof. Fall sale gave us 20 dollars off. Shoes from Red Wings are always free to bring in to have oiled and shoelaces are free for life. I like knowing that my boys feet are safe and that his young feet may not grow as old as mine feel too quickly. Red Wings quality and craftsmanship are absolutely woth the pricetag. read more

And it's important to wear shoes that protect your little piggies. I think that comfortable shoes are incredibly important, and you should never settle or try to save money when shoe shopping. My husband wears a low, slip-on style boot when he's flying. We actually saw his flight shoes while shopping for him in here last night. We are looking for Uggs-style boots, for men. Red Wing had sheepskin-lined shoes, but none that were boot-like. Not that I'm a Tom Brady fan, but I understand why he wears Uggs. They're sooo comfy. (Uggly, yes. But very comfy.) He tried on a bootie-type shoe in a size 11 (they don't have 1/2 sizes, or at least didn't in this style) but we decided we'll prob go to the Ugg store. We did see an awesome laser device for determining correct shoe size. Fun. We received very attentive assistance from the girl working last night. Ive been getting my work shoes here. And its ONLY today I got DISAPPOINTED!! The guy who helped me (JOEY) was UGGHHH! I dont know if he checked my record BUT i gave him my voucher from work AND told him I have a record. (He looks like he's not listening!) He gave me the pair of the display (8.5). i asked him before I try it if its WIDE. He said, "no, that's regular." We dont have wide size for this shoes. Red Wing Shoes are for working people. Application specific shoes and boots. Some say they cost too much. They aren't cheap, but I could argue they last out their value. My last pair of lineman's boots are 10 years old. I didn't take proper care of them, and they still have not come apart! They also offer some upkeep for free, like replacing laces anytime you need them. Ok, so 10 years of field work..it's time. They could have made all the repairs for me, but it was close to new prices. New boots are now mine! It's a small store, but they carry a lot in stock. The website has a bit more, but I had no problem getting what I needed for work. $200 later, I have new boots on. This was on my lunch break. I was able to eat a quick lunch, get a good shoe size measurement, walk a couple different types, and pay. Service was great! I've not seen the store very busy, but more than 2 customers and you'd be waiting. The only problem I have with this location is parking. It's a strip mall and parking is usually full. The lot is too small. I've found it better to park on the street near by. It's pretty close and usually available. read more

So I had been wanting a certain style of shoe for work. I went in there on a Sunday and the salesman that helped me. Explained they didn't have anything like that currently and then showed me another model and said that these though different would be a good option. So I went ahead and bought them. I noticed after a day or so that due to the suede type leather they would look dusty and dirty from very normal wear. I'm a manager and I did not want to have that be an issue especially a day or two after purchasing them. Even after cleaning them they would look that way again very quickly. So I called and asked if I could trade them in and pay the difference if it was additional to purchase another model. I was told that no they wouldn't and don't do that with this line of shoes. So I asked is there anything I can do including just buying another pair and doing a return with redwing for me. I was told no. He also told me that nobody forced me to buy them. So I called red wing and they are taking care of it. Just don't understand why this could not have been handled in a different manner. read more

I bought a pair of hunting boots from this store today. I tried on several pairs and ended up coming down a full size to end up with a pair of boots that literally fit my foot like a glove. I could not be happier with the service and quality of boots I bought. The pair of boots are so comfortable I wore them out of the store. I know I'll own these boots for awhile and the quality will more than cover the price I paid. I shopped everywhere around here for a pair of boots (REI, Sports Chalet, Big5), and all they had was hiking boots. This place has the best quality of hunting boots around, hands down. Not the largest selection to what I've seen available at say Zappos.com or Cabelas, but more than likely a shoe that is specific and costly needs to be tried on before hand, this is why I like this store. I have been a paramedic for almost 25 yrs. In that time I have worn a lot of boots. I have sensitive feet and was told by co workers that this was the best boot going. I went in and tried a pair on. It felt like I was back in the inquisition. They were soooo painful and stiff. I cannot imagine working 12 hrs in these evil devices. The clerk said they needed to break in. I would never last that long. Besides they were over $200.00. I pay half that for Converse Tactical EMS boots online. I will order another pair of those. read more

Got some safety shoes for work after my company offered us a generous allowance and direct billing. The selection isn't that good but I found something I liked. The sales guy was a bit too quick to add a pricey pair of insoles since my company was paying. The insoles are comfy but I think it made me get the shoes a half size too big.
