I needed new slippers and decided to treat myself to designer slippers. This store is a serve yourself store. There are tons of clearance racks. If I was in that mood I may have searched through them, next time. I was there to look at UGG slippers $120 and I did and compared them to the less glamorous but also less expensive Bearpaw slippers $70. I came here with my two sons and omg I had a terrible experience. I sent in a survey and hope they look into this. I work hard for my money and do not appreciate security stopping his "route" a foot away from me and my two sons when we are looking at high price Nikes. HONESTLY, there is a Dicks right there where I have never had this experience before in my life and its more lively there anyway. I felt uncomfortable and like I was being watched when all I really wanted to do was get school shoes for my kids. Never again. I have never had a problem with employees at the store with either buying or returning. My issues are with online customer service. I brought to attention of customer service that the color of the footbed in the Alegria shoes I ordered was not as depicted online. They sent me another pair. Same issue They said it would take 4 to 6 weeks to research the online issue. I have never heard back from them despite calls and emails. The shoes are still incorrectly depicted. They issued me a $10 off discount on an online order and it does not work on any purchase. Ordered a pair of suede Birkenstocks and they left out in the description that they are "synthetic " suede". One of the girls that works here, McKenna, always greets us with a smile on her face and even after coming here for such a long time, she always remembers my mom and I. I was in line and before coming I went to Starbucks. Had too much coffee. The line was super long. I kept waiting and finally couldn't hold it. I went up to the register. Lost my place in line. I like the deals they have, and I find their color-coded discount chart super helpful. I ended up getting two pairs of shoes. One pair from a "regular" rack while the other one from a "clearance" rack. The shoes I found on the clearance rack were such a good deal - they're Adidas shoes and were only about $15 after the discount. It was a crazy deal. I would've given this store the full 5 stars if they had put more staff on the cashier counter. This was the second time in a row of our visits where we, along with other customers, were waiting in line for a long time since there was only one person working at the checkout counter, even though there were other staff walking back and forth behind the counter doing something else, completely oblivious of how long the line had gotten. I saw people behind us getting a little frustrated just like we were. But once we got our turn, the staff helping us was super nice and friendly though. I never walk out of DSW empty handed! If you love great quality shoes at reasonable prices, this place is an absolute candy store. Wonderful selection of all styles, as a shopper looking for adult women sizes and styles (though I definitely see mens and kids options are aplenty out of the corner of my eye). I have purchased shoes for work, weddings, and workouts here. You can even find great black boots in the summertime! I've never been a fan of shoe stores that require you to find a salesperson and have them fetch your size, the serve yourself method is much more efficient - and if you need help, there's always someone nearby. And until recently I thought their habit of checking that both shoes in the box you're purchasing are the same size was a bit silly, until YESTERDAY I was ready to walk out with a pair of boots of two different sizes, even after trying them on. DSW is five stars for me. Really not sure why the average here is not more than three stars. I say: "WhoHoo! As good as it gets!" ... just keep in mind this is a "serve yourself" warehouse-style store. I want to give a special shout out to Nick who was very helpful and patient with an exchange I had on October 23. In fairness, it was early in the day and there was not a line. But I was impressed that he went out of his way to make sure that I could exchange the shoes for a larger size. The ones I needed were not in the store and will have to be shipped to Pleasant Hill from another site. I was also given the option of having them sent to me home. I especially appreciated that I was able to keep my original discounts. At some stores those seem to "disappear" when there is a change with the original transaction. Recently, I've noticed that a DSW sales person will be walking through the store and stopping to ask if I am finding what I need or if I need help. I rarely, if ever, find that at Macy's or similar stores. Some of my favorite shoes -- ones I always get comments about -- have come from DSW. I also like that it is easy to shop on line and then pick up the shoes at the store. Many of the recent DSW bonus items have been quite nice. A few months ago, I received a stylish, light grey quilted duffle bag that has served me quite well on several trips. So, yes, I am a big DSW fan! read more

Tried to buys some Nike running shoes for my daughter. Every pair of Nikes have security tags on them. Now as much as I believe in loss prevention, this store's policy, according to one of the employees, is to loop the security tag through the top eyelets of each shoe. This makes it impossible to even slip them on to see if they fit. There are no employees near the shoes, they all hover by the registers, which forces the prospective customer to walk all the way to the front with the shoe to have them remove the security tag just to see if they fit right. No thanks. It almost feels as though they don't want any business. Works great for us because we will never shop here again. read more

This is a really nice DSW. I was greeted right away, the employees offered assistance and answered any questions I had. My issue with this store is that the normal size I wear is not my real size here with all the designer names. Everything is too snug ( other then tennis shoes ). My size is never available in the cute shoe selection I do come across. But my friend suggested order the size you need online which seems easier and convenient. I bought a pair of Ked's on clearance and they are my first pair which are very comfortable. I will regularly wear Ked's now. I like to look at their purses/wallets on clearance. The men's section is as large as their restroom. The company operates terribly. When I purchased a pair of shoes from the store, the POS (keep it clean) register froze and my credit card was charged. The cashier was unable to look up my transaction after giving her my DSW account information and showing her my credit card transaction. She suggested that I call a customer support line to resolve the transaction if the charge wasn't reversed within 3-5 business days. Days pass and I end up calling the support line. The rep had no knowledge on how to resolve the issue and had to place me on hold multiple times. He even told me to stop by the DSW store where the transaction occurred. At one point, he called a DSW store for a resolution. They told him I should dispute the transaction with my credit card company. WASTE OF TIME... Now I have to deal with my credit card company for a petty $65. I'm better off going to the mall/outlet so I can get clothes too. read more

I'm, overall, a DSW fan. I enjoy being able to earn rewards towards a $10 off coupon and often find some great brands both in store and on the web. Over the years I've gotten everything from Asics sneakers to Clarks boots, Seychelles sandals to Calvin Klein dress shoes. I was thrilled when they opened a store close to home and, while I don't get over to this DSW too often, I have to say it's one of their better brick and mortar locations. The parking is ample, since it's tucked away on the opposite side of Kohls. The layout is easy to navigate and even the weekend after Christmas, inventory was well stocked and organized. The staff was friendly and several workers were walking the floor asking if anyone needed help. I heard them doing everything from checking for sizes to offering to search for a product online. If you find a pair of shoes you love, but they don't have your size, they'll check online and help you order them. You can pay in store and have them shipped to you! It's easy to get overwhelmed at DSW, so best to come in, having something in mind. For me, I was looking for hiking sneakers this particular day-while they had a plethora of other athletic sneakers I couldn't quite find what I needed this time around. Still, taking a lap near the athletic shoes gave me some ideas on what I'd like to get for my next set of trainers. DSW is great for shoe deals and this location is outstanding! read more

Every time I go to DSW I have to wait a long time to pay, while they have people on the floor wandering around. Yesterday after waiting a good 20 minutes to check out I asked the cashier why they didn't have more people at the registers. Got an attitude response because "who would help the customers on the floor?". I thought this store was self service? They have a ton of shoes but many are junk. Won't be going back and if you go there be prepared to get poor service, wade through a lot of junk and wait a long time to check out. Several years ago I lived pretty close to the DSW in Dublin and I can remember going in from time to time and finding a pair that I liked. I've never been much of a shoe person, and I don't really like shopping, so it's nice when I can have a big selection in front of me and just walk around until something catches my eye. This afternoon I perused the shoes at the new DSW Pleasant Hill. My husband recommended I go in there since he recently had good luck. The women's "dressy" shoes to me seemed like they were all either simple flats with not much design, or a super high heel - I'm 5'9" so I don't need much of a heel and wanted something lower, but not flat. I didn't really see any kitten heels; nothing really work-appropriate. I found one awesome pair with a low heel but they were almost out of them. They had 3 boxes left, none in my size, and I don't know if they keep any in the back. I wanted to ask someone, but... I would have loved some assistance of any kind since I was probably just looking in the wrong places, but several aisles of shoes and no worker approached me - so I went next door to Marshall's and found two adorable (and professional) pairs of shoes for work - for $19 and $23, much less than I was about to spend in here. read more

We randomly stopped at this store on our way back to the south bay from Nor Cal. My significant other was searching for shoes. Not only did he find what he was looking for but he ended up finding 3 pairs he loved! Wasn't a horrible experience. They didn't have boots in my size so the girl helped me and said they could order it online and get rewards if I sign up, I thought, sweet sounds good to me. Got up to the register, I can't even remember what the girls name was (short blonde hair), she didn't greet me or barely even looked at me.
