It has been a while since I had a dinner here. I am here with my friends. Great spot in Wayland Sq. Street parking is hard to find, but once inside, we were greeted with friendly staff and have us seated for our reservation. We started with some calamari and muscles. Our favorite is the classic fisherman's platter. This place has always been consistent in terms of service and food quality. This time was not exception. The atmosphere is pretty classy. A large dining area and the two bars - the main one and the smaller, more intimate one in the back. This is a place I would be happy to bring a date or my parents to have a great dinner.

We've been to Red Stripe once before for RI Food Fights #BestBurgerRI & it was my #1 burger that year. We've always wanted to go back & Providence Restaurant Week offered the perfect opportunity: $49.99 three-course dinner for two. We ordered an affordable bordeaux that paired nicely with both my steak & hubby's salmon. A little spicy with a fruity finish & a gorgeous ruby red color. You selected one of the six appetizers to share. When at Red Stripe, you gotta get the mussels! There are six different mussel options & on the recommendation of our server, we ordered the Mouclade: curry, garlic, shallots, white wine, finished with coconut milk. I need to go back to try the Poulette: parsley & chive, garlic, shallots, white wine, finished with cream. The crusty bread was perfect for dipping into the mussels broth. And yes, we drank the remaining broth from the bowl! I opted for the Steak Frites: 36-hour house-marinated 10oz grilled hanger steak topped with Chef's butter, over arugula, red onion, lemon vinaigrette & served with house frites. Everything about this dish was perfection! Steak was flavorful, frites were just the right amount of crispy outside & tender inside, surprise salad under the steak with a delicious lemon vinaigrette that cut through the richness of the meat. Hubby selected the Hot Honey Salmon: grilled salmon glazed with house-made hot honey, served with seasonal vegetables & citrus cilantro lime rice. It was a generous portion of salmon with a sweet glaze with a bit of spice. I didn't care for the seasonal veggies but the citrus in the rice was delicious. You selected one of two options for dessert: tiramisu or New York-style cheesecake. We were both pretty full by the time dessert came around so we weren't disappointed that the tiramisu was weirdly firm. I would have been much happier with a bowl of fresh strawberries & cream. Just sayin'. The food was great, server was delightful & the restaurant is gorgeous! NOM NOM NOM #YUM

The drinks and food were very good! I had a pear cocktail that was very flavorful but not too strong. The truffle burger was very well cooked, and the huge side of truffle fries were delicious! My only complaint is that the mushroom that was on the burger was in one large piece and very chewy. I ended up taking it off of the burger, so it definitely lost a little something. My husband's schnitzel was well cooked and tasty too. The service was prompt but not overbearing at all. We waited a little long once we sat down but we were also tucked away in the corner in the back room. The drinks and food came pretty quickly. I was impressed with how reasonable the prices were too. Overall, a solid dinner option!

I had come here before but for dinner. My friend and I came here on a Wednesday for lunch and it was a very good time. Street parking was okay, there were a couple spots close by and a lot more a half to one block or so away. We made reservations just in case and I am glad we did since it did start to get busy at around 2 pm. We were seated by the large windows, which I liked since it brought in a lot of natural light despite it being a rainy day. I tried their berry mocktail and it was delicious, but I wish they had crushed the mint to bring out more of that flavor. As a starter, we shared their crispy artichokes which were flavorful and paired well with the sauce provided. As my entrée, I ordered the truffle burger with fries. The burger patty was delicious, especially the patty since you could really taste the grilled flavor. The mushroom was good, but was a bit tough, so I had to bite a little harder to avoid pulling it all out in one bite. I wish the red onion was cooked a little more for a caramelized flavor, but it was a good topping nonetheless. The arugula and tomato were fresh, and the goat cheese gave it a creamy touch. The buns were perfectly crispy. I was also really excited for the fries since they're on the thinner side, a bit oily, crunchy, wobbly, and overall, a combination of all the things fries should be. The truffle flavor was great, I wish there was more just because I love truffle, and next time I will ask for some parmesan on top. Our waiter was kind and attentive. I'm also glad this place is open on a Monday --when some places aren't.

    Fisherman's Platter

I'm surprised to see this place has only 3.8 stars because the experience I had was nothing less than 5. It was my birthday and I wanted searched through Providence looking for scallops. I found Red Stripe and decided to reserve here and I'm glad I did. The restaurant itself is beautiful and in a lovely area of Providence. There's a small lot in the back and plenty of street parking. The staff immediately noted my birthday and did a great job making me feel special. I wish I had grabbed my waitress' name because she was excellent. We started with the crispy artichokes which were delicious. I had the fisherman's platter and there was an ample amount of food. The shrimp were colossal and easily my favorite of the three seafood options. My significant other had the schnitzel and has been talking about how good it was ever since. We then ended the night with a skillet cookie- complete with a candle! While I may not love the number I turned, Red Stripe helped me celebrate it in style. I highly recommend them!

    I love this place!

We came here for dinner during the week. I love the bistro type deco and atmosphere. The front room is a little most busy, so we sat in the back room because it has a more cozy and quiet atmosphere. The service was good. I've been here more than once and the food has been consistent as has the service. They made us feel very welcome. I love the beef stroganoff, absolutely delicious. They didn't serve it the traditional Russian way with sour cream so I was sure to ask for it on the side! The tomato bisque was excellent, although slightly spicy. I also loved the tiramisu I had for dessert. I definitely recommend Red Stripe.

Truly one of the best restaurants in Providence. The service is incredible and the food is delicious. They have everything- pastas, burgers, seafood, etc. The manager (Bob) was so nice and our waiter (Eric) was fabulous. Can't recommend enough!

Food and service were great! This is my second time plan on going again soon. Food was delicious.

Odd lobster roll. $34 Didn't eat it. It was freezing cold and weird textured.

I was craving a lobster roll so I walked here from my hotel (1.5 mì). Loud music playing at lunch. Quickly seated. Friendly server. Lobster roll was not acceptable. It was freezing cold and had shreds of lobster (I think that's what it was) and small pieces of claw meat. The fries were okay. I decided to cut my losses and asked for the check - didn't want to waste my calories. Server said don't worry about it. I walked as fast as I could to Hemenways and had a delicious lobster roll just like I like it. Warm, butter only, grilled bun.

My husband and I recently celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary so we decided to have dinner at Red Stripe since it was a place we frequented when we were newly married. The braised short rib is in my personal top 10 favorite meals of all time and while this dish has changed slightly over time, it never disappoints. We had some appetizers; the buffalo cauliflower, which was undercooked and still crunchy, like eating raw cauliflower that had been breaded and tossed in sauce, and the Tuscan shrimp, which is a newer menu item, and was crispy and flavorful. The restaurant is really loud when it gets full, so just be mindful of that if you're looking to have a conversation with the other people at your table, especially if you're near the open kitchen because there's a lot of clanking and clattering from plates and pans being moved around. They also offer outdoor seating on the sidewalk, stools at the bar, and another room behind the bar if the main dining room isn't working for you.

The space is a large modern hanger-style food court with a large bar station and plenty of seating in and outdoors on large patio. Wonderful for families and groups to gather around at long large tables. We found a table by the end by a large screen wall tv with sports on and comfy leather club chairs Great for drinks and talking. First stop, we stood at the bar and ordered our drinks ($14 cocktails). And got big glasses of ice water and headed to our table. We then we split up and everyone walked the hall looking at menus. We all ordered food and gave the restaurant a phone number and they'll text you when your items are ready, generally about 10 or 15 minutes depending on how busy things are. Then you go pick up your tray and head back to your table. Note... don't forget your phone like I did. It's a great opportunity for grazing. If you wanna try a little bit here and there. I chose to have Mediterranean food from TOLIA. Appetizer was a nice three dip Mediterranean plate with pita chips $15 that were crunchy and good. For my entrée, I selected the minced lamp, kebabs over eggplant with pita and an added extra cucumber yogurt dip $29. This was all very tasty And costs about $50 with tip. A bit pricey for a self serve if you ask me. But that's the way things are going on these days. It was a nice time sitting around and talking, but then it got very crowded and very noisy and people were hovering by 5:30 to take our tables and even asked if we were getting up soon. It was a cold chilly day, but the overflow folks were headed outside of the picnic tables, which seemed very cold to me, but on a warm day I would all be very nice. I've been dying to try Dolores so I opted to have three different tacos after asking the girl at the register if she would recommend their chicken sandwich over the tacos. She told me that everything was good so I went with the ribeye taco, the shrimp taco and the mushroom taco. The ribeye taco was fantastic. There was quite a bit of ribeye in it and the perfect amount of spice. The shrimp taco flavor and the mushroom taco was just spicy with a little flavor. I'd have to say the ribeye was the best taco and it definitely wasn't worth what I spent on them. My wife had an eggplant Parm sandwich and it was cooked perfectly, looked delicious and I wish I had gotten that. I really do like the idea of being able to get dishes from different restaurants, pick your own seat and sit with other people at a community table. It's really nice inside and they had live music tonight, which would've been great if we wanted to stay. Next time I go back, I'm definitely having Italian, pizza and some falafel.
