This place is good, the baked cakes are what I come here for. The mango cake is the best one. I always buy it. Other than that, the chicken/beef impanadas are also a good deal, and the staff is always friendly. read more

Occasionally I have a craving for Filipino food. I order palabok, arroz caldo, chicken empanada, mango cake and ube cake. So far, liked the palabok. The arroz caldo is too salty for me and the mango cake is a disappointment. I think it is the quality of the mango used. I still have to try the ube cake and empanadas, so will give additional reviews later. In the meantime, please adjust the arroz and maybe make it less dense. read more

It's a Red Ribbon Bakeshop--straight Filipino baked goods which will be happily consumed at your next party. I stopped in here recently because Goldilocks ran out of ice cream for their halo-halo so I was happy that Red Ribbon served the yummy dessert as well. Hard to say who makes a better one but the one from Red Ribbon was satisfying. read more

I was craving Ube cake for weeks. So finally I bought one. They don't sell individual slices of ube cake so I had to buy a whole one for about $20.00. Even though they give you a slice of Ube cake when you buy a meal. .. SO, I didn't get why they wouldn't sell me just a slice.. so anyway, I bought a whole cake .. because I was CRAVING it anyway. so I figured it was worth it.. I come home and ate a slice.. and it was NOTHING like I expected, IT didnt even have an UBE TASTE. the frosting was just whipped cream. no UBE FLAVOR in the frosting nor the cake. it was almost like they were trying to trick your mind into thinking you taste "UBE" a little because the cake was soooo PURPLE in color. just like the ube ice cream.. but it didnt have any good ube flavor at all.. Now I have a whole cake sitting in the fridge, and Im forcing myself to eat some just because i spent 20 bucks for it. =( I should have just went to Goldilocks! with RED RIBBON BAKESHOP... LOOKS ARE SURELY DECIEVING!! read more

My son started seeing the commercial on The Filipino Channel about Butter Mamon (sponge cake) so we come here for that when we're in the area. One time we came I was hungry so I ordered a rice soup that came with a side of two small steamed buns. The buns were tasty but small and the soup was very salty. If you want more customers you might want to reinvent the flavorings of your soup and some of your other dishes. It's cheap but portions were very small. The sponge cake was moist, spongy, and light. It was very light, so light that you think I paid $1.25 for this. I'm no expert when it comes to sponge cakes. And I know that they're not easy to make. But I can bake and cook and I can tell when something is not right. The cakes are the same way. It needs more cake and less frosting inside and outside. And I don't understand why one has to buy the whole cake instead of a slice. This isn't Costco? Right? Other popular bakeries sell slices of cakes and I know you can do it too. More customers will be pleased, I guarantee you. I know I will be back because of my son but I'm hoping for better quality of food one of these days. Just try going to other bakeshops to see and compare. We're making it outside of the Philippines. Let's give it all. I always say to myself, "take the one chance you've got, don't waste it. Give it your all, because in the end, it doesn't matter if you failed, I'd rather be thinking of what I've done, than what could've been". It doesn't always work but there's no guarantee in life. Just saying... read more

One of my friends from home group is celebrating her birthday this Saturday, but since our group meets on Thursday nights, we decided to get her a cake and celebrate with her on Thursday. A week ago, I originally thought to get her a cake from Whole Foods, but as it turns out, the list of cakes that I found online was for the Whole Foods in ANDOVER, MA. When I tried calling the local East Bay WFs, well, they all told me that they didn't have the mocha butter cream cake (http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/sites/default/files/media/Stores/A-C/AVR/AVR_CakeMenu.pdf). Sadness. But then I remembered one of my mom and I's favorite cakes - the Choco MOCHA Crunch cake from Red Ribbon! And so, on Wednesday I put in an order for an 8'' round cake that was only $20.99. When I went to pick it up last night at around 6:15 PM, there was no line, and I was able to give my name and grab my cake... but not before the colorful display case enticed me to grab an Ube Macapuno Roll - $10.99, too. Yup, it's totally the display case's fault. The person who helped me out was really nice and after I pronounced "Ube Macapuno," he asked me if I was Filipino. Most people think I'm Chinese or Korean (I've also gotten Mongolian, too), but I am, in fact, Filipino. :) Good to know I can sound like a Pinay, too, at least when it comes to talking about food! I read through the reviews and looked at the photos of this place before coming here. I know that one person seemed to have an issue with a dry cake, but I can say that both the UM Roll and the CMC cake were moist and delicious. Do note, though, that the desserts here are sweeter than what you might find in other Asian bakeries (i.e. Chinese, Taiwanese, etc.), but not as sweet as what you'd find in an American or European style bakery. But what matters most is that my friend loved the cake! :) Thanks, Red Ribbon! read more

I love Red Ribbon's Mamon (sponge cake). Everytime I go to Seafood City, I always buy a few. I've tried their cakes and the Mango and Choco Mocha Crunch keeps me coming back for more. D Definitely not something that someone should be having everyday because it's not easy on the waistline but for those occasional birthdays/special occasions, you should definitely give it a try. Prices are also not bad at all. read more

I only go here to buy the cakes or the pandesal. The cakes here are the most inexpensive compared to Goldilocks. ~$23 for an 8 inch round cake. Their cakes are so flavorful. The mango cake has a good kick of mango taste, same as the ube cake. I definitely recommend going here to buy their cakes. Friendly staff, too. read more

The Mango & Caramel Cakes are delicious! I actually like the Caramel more than the Mango just because the Mango is a little overly sweet. I like the Caramel because it's just right and not extremely sweet. I tried to call to make sure they had the Caramel available but they do not answer their phones. I've been calling for 30 minutes already. I live 23 minuets away and wanted to make sure but I guess I'll have to go in and take that chance if it's available or not. That's the only reason why I gave it a 4 star and not a 5 star. Otherwise, I recommend going to this spot for those two cakes. read more

I'm very disappointed that they ONLY offer combo meals now. The palabok is pretty good here. But I don't like soda or chocolate cake. If I could substitute healthier sides, then I'd be all over it. Sad. read more

Stick to the sweets and the halo-halo. Their savory dishes are not review-worthy. I'll eat them if there's nothing else. But nothing to drive over for. Their ensaymadas are the best, I think. Cakes are pretty good too. But like most FIlipino fast-foods, the portions are just ridiculously miserly. You will need to buy 2 dishes of anything to get full. Never been able to figure that one out. Compare it to say Chinese food where food costs are the same. Someone once told me these operators want to get rich quickly, like overnight even it means gouging on fellow Filipino customers, while Chinese restaurant operators plan to stay for the longer haul. So eating here is a once in a while deal, while I will head for Chinatown several times a week without so muhc as a second thought. read more

I could say the customer service was okay. I was disappointed that they didn't have slices of the ube overload so I settled with the coconut ube cake which is the same thing except with lots of coconut. I'm not really a fan of the coconut so it was disappointing. It didn't seem like they wanted to budge to cut me a slice of the ube overload but that's okay. They also only had 2 more empanadas of the chicken left and it's only 2:00pm. I had to wait 15 minutes but that's okay I'm in no rush. Overall it was an okay experience I got what I needed and that's what matters. Everything tasted delicious so no problems there. I got the cheesy mamon, chicken empanadas, and the ube coconut cake. Will come here just for the pastries. read more

My son bought palabok here and the serving is half the size it normal is elsewhere. Quality control sure doesn't look like a priority for these guys. Next time I'll go next door to Jolibee instead. Although they weight their noodles and spaghetti (not kidding ) you can be sure it's consistent. I'll include a pic and judge for yourself. Only the 2 pieces of egg has been eaten on the pic. read more

When I entered the store, I noticed that the cashier was not in the mood, she didnt greet me and my 5 y.o daughter and didnt even smile. So here is the story.. I bought a chocolate cake on Oct.11,2016 between 1-3pm.and asked the cashier to put a message on it. When she showed me the message she put 3 exclamation point just after the word 'old' which I didnt ask. It was written like this.. HAPPY 1 MONTH OLD ! ! ! BABY ____________ I am being nice to her though I am disappointed. I told her she should ask me first before putting 3 exclamations on it. She offered me to just erase it, I agree, but then the cake is messy and not appealing anymore, to think its for a 1 month bday, its a first celebration, and I have to take a photo of it. I didnt accept the cake and asked for a refund. I know she got irritated bcoz it shows on her face. But I am too. read more

This is probably my favorite bake shop ever but today's experience brought some real concerns not just to son but the community. It was about 7:50-8:00PM as we all know Red Ribbon shares space with Jollibee. Red Ribbon closes at 8:30PM staff is cleaning and ready for closing. At this time Jollibee is still open for business and has people eating. The same time they're cleaning they used a strong chemical to clean their floors. If I'm not mistaken this product is called Lysol. Given Jollibee restaurant and Red Ribbon shares the same space with no walls or windows to have separation. My son stays coughing. His coughing happens more frequent, all of a sudden he gets teary eyed. I couldn't put two and two together under I started having trouble with my breathing as well. The Cleaning product was so strong it lead to my sons vomiting. We went outside to get some fresh air and then he started wheezing. My son is four years old so he starts to cry and says he didn't feel well. He says, "Mommy I don't feel good". My husband immediately grabs him and we brought him into our car and gave his emergency albuterol. After giving him a dose he's still constantly coughing. At this time he's gasping for air. I start panicking because he needs a nebulizer treatment. The only way we can do that if we had his machine with us. WE ALWAYS BRING THAT MACHINE WHEREVER WR GO. For some reason my husband didn't bring it because we wouldn't think he'll need it given it's not cold outside or extremely humid (that would trigger his asthma) at this time in concord. Little did we know a quick dinner to eat at Jollibee gave us a frightening experience kinda night. Asthma is real and can kill instantly if his airway was not treated right away. My son is still coughing and we are now on our way home to give his nebulizer treatment. It was an awful experience. I hope the owner and manager sees my post and understands the huge danger of cleaning while people are still eating. This is a huge liability! A lawsuit waiting to happen. I'm really disappointed and I hope this will not happen in the future. My son is lucky that I'm a nurse and knew exactly what to do for my son. If this would happen to anyone else I don't know... read more

Chocolate Mousse Cake. Beef or Chicken Empanada. These delicacies are what Red Ribbon is all about. Being born in the Philippines and coming here as a wee lad, Red Ribbon had always been my favorite in the Filipino bakery scene. Sure, their prices have gone up within the last decade, and some of their items have come and go, but their reputation as one of the finest bakery chains in the Philippines, have made their presence known in North America and other continents around the globe. They have so many products that cater to your needs, and truly satisfies your cravings for some Filipino bakery goodness. Another item that's highly recommended to have is their Whole Wheat Pan De Sal (dinner rolls), which is truly a must have in your pantries at home! This location is the only one on this side of the East Bay, but they have numerous locations around the Bay Area. Make sure to check them out, and you won't be disappointed! Highly recommended for all your bakery needs, most especially their cakes and pastries! read more

Do NOT order your child's birthday cake here!! I reserved a cake for my daughter's birthday to be picked up on 4/22/2017 & they freaking sold it to someone else! The hold slip was clearly there as my mom had seen. Who does that? Dumb workers....and they tried to convince my mom, who was picking it up for me to get another flavor. Filipino''s are awesome, and so is this bakery. One of the cutest, sweetest gals I've ever met is also Filipino and she happened to get me a Bday cake for my Bday one time. They are NOT about customer service and the customer is always right! A co-worker went to get our work team a cake roll and wanted a small message written on it. THIS REVIEW IS OF THE 'UBE OVERLOAD' CAKE FROM THE BAKERY. HOLY COW! YUMMY FACTOR OFF THE CHARTS... BUT!... if you do not get a fresh one, the taste is not good. you can tell a fresh one by the deep rich purple color and the top of the cake will not be cracked.. which is a sign its drying out. Also you the cream dollops on the top will be secure and not dry looking. This cake is best served just a bit on the cool side so keep in fridge covered from fridge smells all the time until about 15 mins prior to eating... be sure to have plenty of cold milk on hand. Large Ube overload has NO coconut which is the one i want. I do not want the one with coconut - this over kills the flavor in my opinion. cost $19.95 CALL IN ADVANCE BECAUSE IN THE AFTERNOON THEY TEND TO SELL OUT AND ON WEEKENDS/HOLIDAYS ESPECIALLY. THEY WILL HOLD ONE FOR YOU. HAVE THEM CHECK TO BE SURE THEY ARE HOLDING A FRESH CAKE THAT WAS DELIVERED TO THEM FROM THEIR MAIN BAKERY TODAY!. read more

I'm not a fan of Ube or anything Ube for that matter. When I was a kid, each year when me, my sisters and cousins have a birthday, we would take our finger and scrape the side of the cake to check if it's purple or chocolate. If we saw purple, sheer disappointment and that's why I don't like Ube. Anyways, came to this red ribbon to get a cake for in laws anniversary. I was hoping they would have the coffee crunch cake (which I highly recommend) but they ran out so had to choose another type of cake. From what was available, there was chocolate mousse, mango cake, and Ube cake. Ube is out of the question. We asked about the mango and the young lady behind the counter was very honest with us and said it was not that great so asked her about the other cakes and said the chocolate mousse was good. I appreciate her honesty and she was also nice enough to provide us the days when the coffee crunch cake would be delivered during the week. The chocolate mousse cake was good, it was light and airy, not overly sweet. Hope next time the coffee crunch cake is available. read more

Wow . So my wife and i went here on New Years eve to pick up a cake .The cashier wearing a gray sweater with too much gel in his hair talks to his employees in such a belittling manner calling them tanga . I am filipino so i understood every word he said. I believe he may be the supervisor or something cause he is the only one who was not in a red uniform. He has no sense of customer service at all. When he handed me the cake i purchased he made no eye contact or no thank you at all. Very poor customer service and very unprofessional. I manage a pretty big dealership and this is no way to treat your employees. Hopefully management takes this review seriously and take action towards this individual. The young man with glasses was very welcoming and didn't deserved to be talked to like that. read more

this review is for their halo-halo. there are at least 4 other places that sells halo-halo within 100 ft of each other. this place takes at least 5 mins to make a halo-halo with no other customers in line. they are the only place I've known (and I've been to a few places in the bay area :-) that puts butter cream instead of real ice cream in their halo-halo (being a bakery, this saves them money). the worker there said the owner loves butter cream in the halo-halo so no choice for the customer. nice to know the owner is 'always' right. also they don't put any coconut slivers and ube in the drink. the flavor/taste is fairly bland (for those who don't like sweet halo-halo, this could be a plus). so, unless they changed that, don't buy their halo halo. read more

This place is interesting to say the least. The staff are friendly but today games were in order. When I asked questions about the guest WiFi after ordering food I was told by the someone named Becca who appeared to be in a position of management that She didn't know what the passcode to the Guest WiFi. She proceeded to lie to me about employees not having access to that information and that they are not allowed to use their phones and this after I watched her on her smartphone on social media browsing for at least 30 mins in front of me all while chatting with other employees and staff from nearby businesses. I reminded her that I was just there last week and a different employee put the code into My phone for me and allowed me access into the Guest WiFi. She told me that she didn't know how that happened and only the Owner of the business who is never present knew the code. I knew she was lying to me and to think that she would lie over something so petty leads me to be concerned about the food. I didn't eat the food based upon this experience and so I will not be coming back here either. The food is very greasy and even if I was starving I will not Trust it again. The people in charge are questionable on simple things such as WiFi imagine what happens in that kitchen. If something food wise fell on to the ground I don't trust that it would make it into the garbage can and yes if someone will not be honest about simple things why would they be honest about major things. I know of another location that caters to these chains thatwas shut down for health code violations and with dishonest people in charge this will only continue. read more
