Just had a lovely dinner out with a yelp deal here. The cold Mediterranean salad with pita was a GREAT starter and set the tone along with the ambiance. Fried calamari appetizer was good along with the artichoke dip. My only suggestion on that end would be to serve only pita slices with the dip as the salty tortilla takes away from the artichoke flavor. The Cobb salad and buffalo chicken wrap followed- both solid dishes. The chicken in both was cooked a bit over but all in all the service was excellent, the margarita's were lovely and the menu looks solid enough with enough care for the food to return. My hubby and I decided to try the new kid on the block that replaced Vela on a Saturday night. Love trying new places and I was excited to see what they had to offer. It wasn't busy, three tables and then us. We didn't get asked for our drinks until after 10 minutes, when they finally did ask and they took my order of an ameretto sour...I waited another 10 minutes for them to tell me that they don't have ameretto. Ok...no biggie, I order their specialty mojito which sucked. The red oak appetizer was yummy but we never got bread at our table. We thought that maybe they didn't serve bread for some reason, but then a couple sat next to us and got bread served immediately with a whole list of dinner specials, which we never got! I'm big on customer service and the drink thing didn't bother me half as much as the bread piece. All in all, the service sucks! There are better places for me to spend my $$. Ive been there twice and i cant say enough good things about this place. The food is always fresh amd tastes perfect everytime. Staff is excellant...very attanative. Ambiance is small and intimate. Was wandering by and popped in for brunch yesterday. I wasn't that hungry and only had a yogurt/granola/berry from their "light breakfast" list, but my boyfriend ordered from the fixed price breakfast menu and I sampled kind of a lot of his food--it was delicious. He got the Red Oak Breakfast, which was a traditional combo: eggs, breakfast meat, and hash browns, but everything done with gourmet seasonings and totally tasty. There are also a number of tasty-looking benedicts on their brunch menu. I'm looking forward to trying them. Although we didn't try the cocktails, the $22 bottomless glass brunch seemed like a great deal to us and we're hoping to go back soon. I'm surprised at the negative feedback on this place. My fiancé and I spent hours here last night feeling like we were in our own comfortable little oasis on the back patio. The service was excellent, staff was friendly and the food was yummy. He had the rib eye and it was cooked perfectly and seasoned deliciously. The best part of our night was the hookah menu - this is not something we do regularly, but wanted to give it a try because the menu had so many choices. Our hookah was carved from a fresh pineapple and had sex on the beach instead of water. It was an amazing treat to end our dinner and perfect date night. Can't wait to go back! read more

We come here about twice a month from Queens. Well worth the travel!!! I have not been disappointed yet. The food is great. The falafel and lamb kabab are delicious!! The hookah combinations are different than what I've had at other hookah bars. My favorite is the Champagne with mint, and lasts for hours. They change the coal very often. They also have a bar which is always a plus when smoking hookah. The staff is very friendly and quick with service. They seem to enjoy seeing people have a good time at the establishment. It does get crowded past 10PM, so reserve a table ahead of time. The atmosphere is a bit dark (little lighting), which is great if your going with a spouse. It never bothered me, and was more than happy to introduce my friends to there. Its not a huge spot, but because of that they are able to cater to everyone faster. I can't talk this place up enough. Its everything I want in want in a hookah bar. Good food, good drink, hookah is fantastic, place is nice. It's great all around, but I have to say what really got me to love this place was the staff. I happened to be there on a particularly slow night (due to rain) with one of my friends. Hanging out with the staff there was like having an instant group of friends- I know that sounds sappy, but they were talking and joking the whole time we were there. I went there this past Saturday night with a couple of my girlfriends and I must say the service was amazing despite the fact that they had 2 large parties reserved that night. I was very impressed by the waiter and how he managed to make us feel like we were the only table in the place that night. The homemade sangria was OFF THE HOOK. The bread and dip appetizer was great and the french fries was to die for. We ordered the mixed grilled entree with the beef and chicken. The food was cooked to perfection, huge portions. The chicken was very well seasoned and nice and juicy. We also ordered the Peaches and Cream hookah which was incredible, I love the way they had it displayed in the pineapple (awesome touch). I was in town visiting my cousins who insisted on taking me to their new favorite restaurant. I was hesitant since this restaurant is American with a Middle-Eatern twist. I have very high standards when it comes to Kebab and was delightfully surprised. We had a lot of dishes and my favorites were the lamb kebab, baby lamb chops and steak and brie sandwhich. A friend and I went out for Drinks here and never had Hookah before. The drinks were good and strong and My first time Hookah was a nice experience. BUT! If you ever go there and Find a Girl who is skinny, probably wearing a half shirt and has long curly hair, who works there. STAY CLEAR OF HER. Now I'm not going to say I wasn't drunk, but when someone asks you if you want a shot, you're under the Impression their buying. Clearly she charged all the rounds of Jameson to me, without my knowledge. She did this a couple of times. So I bought for her and her other friends as well as my friend and I. 234.72 Dollars later, without a single buy back! I don't even drop that in a strip club. Stick with your friends and you be fine, just watch out for this scammer that works there, who said she was off duty. The rest of the Staff were friendly, but like I said no buy backs. this spot was just okay for me..we had a amazon local deal so the whole dinner was a pretty good deal..grilled calamari is good but the restaurant that was there before (beloved velas tapas) did it better...but red oak's is still pretty good..also got baked clams..I wasn't really feelin these..tasted fishy and not fresh..entrees were linguini with seafood..which was just okay and i thought the fish was too fishy and I could tell it wasn't that fresh..also got the lamb chops and that was the only really good thing out of the whole dinner..lamb chops had great flavor and were cooked good, nice and tender and really really yummy..came with mashed potatoes which were yummy too and delicious garlicky spinach..very good plate, I recommend it! I would go back to try some of the Mediterranean food, maybe that's where they really shine! Oh and the service was good! owner walks around and is involved, very nice. read more

Despite having been a customer of Amir's (owner) for years, I recently had him come to my home and cater a 120 person party... cater hookahs that is. For weeks after the event I had people texting and calling me to let me know how absolutely amazing the hookahs were, how their heads never burnt, how fresh coal kept coming.. the list is endless. People were enjoying the hookahs so much that I made Amir and his team stay an hour longer . Yes, I held them hostage for 8 hours. I honestly cannot sufficiently express how absolutely amazing the service and hookahs were. I didn't have to worry about a single thing. Amir and his assistant were self-sufficient, they prioritized my guests, demonstrated the utmost professionalism, provided the most impeccable service... and the hookahs were absolutely PERFECT. Being that I was running around, they literally followed me, for the entire night, with a fresh hookah, ensuring my lungs were adequately supplied haha. Whether you are hosting a private party and are in need of hookah catering or if you just need a night out, Amir is your guy. I'd give more than 5 stars if I could. The appetizers and Sangria are on point, and their prices are pretty good. The only complaint I have is that they're sometimes understaffed and don't come around your table too often. Not the type to write reviews but I will today. I went there around 6-7 Saturday night. It wasn't busy yet there we're only three other people there. I was with a group of 4 and I had started out ordering a Greek salad some fries and calamari. I specifically asked for the salad to have the onions served on the SIDE as I was sharing this and do not eat onions. Fries came first had no complaints, salad was served almost 15 minutes later with onions on top.... the lady had one job. Another 15 minutes later passed and we had to remind our waitress that we had ordered calamari, it then finally came. Was not great instead of marinara sauce it came with salsa that tasted like the chunky salsa from the Supermarket. Another friend ordered chicken strips and then asked for BBQ sauce, waitress looked bothered when we asked for that she came back with hot sauce. Again you had one job lady..... I asked the waitress for water and she rolled her eyes and brought it with an attitude. We spent 200 that night, Hookah is overpriced for no reason, bayridge has other places with better prices. The waitress was bad at her job, never came by our table to ask if we were okay but definitely had time to ask the people next to us. 18% gratuity was added automatically but I felt she didn't even deserve my money being so nasty and inattentive to our table. It was a Russian or polish lady tall thin with short dirty blondish hair..... If you were having a bad day you should have called out. Hope Managmnet hires better waitresses!!! I bought a deal from Amazon for Red Oak out of curiosity and we were happy with our choice. It was a nice afternoon with a cool breeze so we chose to sit in the backyard, our only issue with the back was the mosquitoes but we chose to sit there so we can't really complain much. Our waitress was excellent, she was super friendly and great at her job. She had a great knowledge of the menu and the proper pronunciations of everything. We started with goulash (filo pastries stuffed with ground beef) and it was a huge appetizer for just two people. There were five huge egg roll sized pastries; definitely worth the price. My husband had the mixed grill and I was brave and tried the oxtail tajine; we were both pleased with our choices. The mixed grill is HUGE compared to Tanoreen's; everything was spaced out nicely on a huge platter and there were huge pieces of meat. The oxtail wasn't presented in the typical tajine pot, so it was a little messy. The oxtail was tender and flavorful; however a little too greasy for me. The tajine came with a small plate of rice, another plate of salad and bread. Both meals were worth the prices. It was also nice that the chef came out of the kitchen to speak to customers about their food; showed he really cared what we thought of his meal and he wanted real feedback. With our wine, appetizer and entrees, our bill was $70 and after our deal we only paid $30 before gratuity; we left a nice tip because the waitress did a really good job and deserved it. The mixed grill was excellent. So was our salad. This place is an OK alternative if you can't get into Tanoreen but still want good Middle Eastern style food. So, I left a review for this place before and it was pretty decent, but this time I must say I was mortified by their treatment since I'm a regular with my boyfriend and decided to give them a lot more chances after my last review. I decided to go back again after many times with some friends, one of my friends didn't have an ID because he lost his wallet so he had the paper from the DMV, so they were giving him a hard time which is understandable it's a business and they don't want to risk anything, so we turned around and were heading to my car which was parked in front. To my amazement a Caucasian couple walks in and do not get carded to go in, so I asked wait why didn't you ask them for ID? The bartender runs and get the boss and he says because their regulars. Really?? I'm a regular there too and I sure was carded. So I came here on a Saturday night and starts off all of our drinks are extremely strong so we take them back and the bartender has the nerve to say "I'm an alcoholic so I think there fine". The owner who has some sense comes over and says not everyone is an alcoholic like you. He re made our drinks and apologized and everything was fine.. Then we order chicken fingers and they come out completely Raw!! Totally completely raw inside!! Once again the Manager apologizes and offers a new plate but of course at this point we're over it. On the positive side they really were apologetic and gave our table a free round of drinks. I ate here on a Friday late afternoon/early evening on a Groupon and was a bit annoyed to find out when I get to the restaurant that they were conveniently "out" of the rib eye steak and a seafood dish I saw on the menu. I think they just didn't want me to use the voucher for certain dishes...very disappointing since there were no restrictions on the Groupon and I was the only person seated in the restaurant.
