He spoke with his GM and guess what I got in the mail today....a hand written note from the General Manager letting me know the things that they are doing to improve. This is class in my opinion. I like to watch football here. The food is pretty good and the atmosphere is laid back. While the servers are always friendly, the service tends to be pretty slow from my experience, even when the place isn't packed. read more

Service was terrible. The last 3 times I have gone here, it took greater than 30 minutes to get our first drink and an hour or better for the food to arrive. Another couple came in at the same time as us they got their drinks before us and there food as we were leaving. What the heck!! The food is good and atmosphere is great for watching sports. But unless you are planning on a 3hour lunch this isn't the place to go. Tip. order your second drink when your first arrives. read more

Went last night for "Dueling Pianos". It was OK. Not one for going to a bar to get hammered and many people there were - I guess that part was entertaining. Ordered a cheese quesadilla - yawn. The interior was.....confusing. Fake brick walls and columns, tiki masks. Staff were polite and accomodating. I probably won't go back - just not my thang. read more

After a less than stellar review I posted a few weeks ago, we went back today because the location is within walking distance of my home and we had plenty of time on our hands in the likely event the service was terrible. Liked it. We had good sandwiches, and had a few beers before going for a walk downtown to shake down the meal. The sandwiches were well better than we were expecting. While the staff were friendly and attentive, they sure had no idea what was on the menu. That's OK. I love this place! Don't listen to the bad reviews. I've worked for a lot of restaurants in college and no one seems to understand that when it's busy the wait time will be long. Just relax, if you want fast food go to McDonald's. Great food and it's a wonderful place to socialize with friends and family. read more

My boyfriend and I came for our last date night and we had a blast the food and drinks were both amazing. The waitress was really nice and she asked what we were up to for the night and she was very prompt and great. The price's were great too. Hard to find a family friendly restaurant, that actually offers decent food, well, this is it. Our kids love going to the Monkey for dinner. Friendly staff, and the food had been great each time. The well drinks were $3.50 during happy hour. Asked the waitress what the bar whiskey was and was told it was Jim Beam. When the check came I was charged $5.00 a drink because I specified Jim Beam. Manager would not accept responsibility and would not budge on the price. Really sad to see that kind of customer service. She did not give a damn that I was posting to Yelp. I debated between a 2 and 3 star review. I have mixed feelings about Red Monkey. First, Walla Walla needs more places that serve bar food like sandwiches, fries, etc. On the other hand Monkey seems like it is trying to be something else and lacks from a sense of identity. The food is good, albeit not great. Nothing has blown me away and I get the sense that is not really what they are aiming for. The service varies from horrible to passable. We rarely get good service and never great service. Generally it falls into the area of mediocre. Actually, mediocrity really sums up Monkey well. Not bad, but when you leave you will immediately forget your experience. We'll continue to go back because of lack of options but will probably jump ship the first chance we get. read more

I ordered ordered iced tea, they were out, then I ordered wings and a pulled pork sandwich, they were out of pulled pork and told me as the wings were minutes away, then the blues cheese sauce for the wings had only one large piece of blue cheese in it, then I had to flag down my waitress I haven't seen in 30 min and payed my bill grand total of $16 for a root beer and wings. The owner of The Red Monkey, Justin- saw my previous negative post on this site. He made contact with me, explained that there have been a lot of changes and then sent me free vouchers and asked me to give his restaurant a second chance. My husband and I visited The Red Monkey on night three of the World Series. There were good views of the game from any seat. We were very skeptical about what we to encounter during our visit- however we never found anything negative to complain about. Things have changed. I feel Justin has a very good grip on his restaurant. The clientele seemed to have enough sophistication to have an easy conversation with any other patron. The food was reasonably priced, the drink menu was extensive, and the wait staff was friendly and prompt. Kudos to The Red Monkey and Justin. If you have ever had a bad experience there- give them another try. I'm glad I did. read more

Should have known better than to try a bar for breakfast, reinforced the adage " you cant put lipstick on a pig and enter a beauty contest". Food was terrible, service was bar quality, don't try this place for breakfast unless it is to feed a hangover. read more

They nail the food here, the sandwiches are good, solid, filling items, the onion rings are the best I have ever had. They have a large beer selection and multiple TVs for sports. It's a great place to hand out with your friends it's affordable as well. Don't let the picky customers dissuade you. This place especially stand out to me because restaurants in Walla Walla are either to expensive/fancy or too trashy this place offers a good affordable spot and beats other places around as far as its execution of American fare. read more

Deceptive rip offs! We had beer at the bar... one would think that a pitcher of beer that costs $18 (printed right on the menu) would offer at least the same or a little more beer than buying it at $5.50 per pint (printed on the menu). Wrong! A pitcher here is just a touch over THREE pints of beers = $16.50 if you bought them individually! Gosh, thanks for charging me $1.50 more just for the luxury of a pitcher. So I complain to the "manager," who smiles a lot and won't comment on this discrepancy and says that surely the owners have been doing this for a long time and she trusts their professionalism and that she didn't "make the prices." Nice. She asked what I wanted and I said another beer for this cost, but that didn't happen! She took our pitcher off the bill and then charged us for individual beer, instead of the $18 on the menu for a pitcher! Sooo, ends up that our server gave us the bill and said that beers were $5 (not 5.50 as stated on the menu) and that the pitchers were $16 (not $18 as stated on the menu). Is a few dollars a big deal? Not really, but who wants to feel ripped off? Ends up I spent more What bugs me is how convoluted the entire transaction was, how patronizing the manager on duty was and that they offer pitchers that cost more per glass than individual orders. The bar is nice enough and the bartender did a good job, but in the end the customer felt dissatisfied. Not a win in my book. read more

You know my first time coming here was this summer. I had an amazing Mushroom Swiss burger and mac and cheese. For months I was telling my boyfriend how we should go back. We finally did, and I got something different that was okay but not the best. The service also wasn't as good as the first time. The past week I've been wanting to come back telling my boyfriend I was craving that mushroom swiss burger. We ended up going to Tri-Cities, which was a bad idea because the food there was gross. We left telling ourselves we should have just gone to Red Monkey. Finally we decided to go tonight. I was waiting all day thinking about how I was so hungry and wanted that burger while I worked my long night shift. I reminded my boyfriend to not let me get the frys because I really loved that mac and cheese. We even called tonight to make sure you guys were still serving before we just stopped by and ending up just calling an order to go. I realize it's late and your servers are eager to go home and dread new customers coming in, but I was just getting off work my self ready to go home and wanted food I had been wanting for a while now. When we went in, we stood for 10-15 minutes while servers stared at us folding their towels, avoiding us for fear we wanted a seat and would make them work. Finally someone came and asked us if we had been helped and my boyfriend said "no, we have been just getting stared at the last 10 minutes." Instead of apologizing, the server only says "well our last call is in 20 minutes.." and when I let her know we just had a call in to pick up, she certainly perked up to go grab our food. My boyfriend wanted to leave but I said let's just get our food because I was so hungry and wanted this all day. We get home and my burger was not like the first time I had it. It had no sauce what so ever, no seasoning so it was bland and had tiny pathetic pieces of slimy lettuce. I thought my mac and cheese would be better, it was not. It did not taste like the creamy delicious mac and cheese I had before, but like something I could have gotten at KFC. Actually KFC would have been better. It obviously was not recently made. Then my boyfriends burger looked worse, making it obvious that there was no pride in presentation of this dinner. Then when he picked it up, egg yolk spilt all over and when we went to use our napkins provided to wipe it up, there was what seemed to be a big loogie on the napkin! I really wish I listened to my boyfriend and left when we had the chance, I much rather would have gone elsewhere. I can say I will not go back again after tonight. This place is great! Great atmosphere and great eats and beer. We made a reservation because of the Seahawks game on 1/19/14 and because we made a reservation they gave us a free pizza. Overall, the atmosphere is great and the staff is great. If you are in WW for a night or two defiantly check them out. read more

First sports bar I have ever been in that is not kid friendly. We weren't sitting at the bar, none of us were gonna order any alcohol but it didn't even get to that point. Also, I think staff need to be more knowledgeable of the laws before they go off citing them. Was told that every restaurant needs to card all of their customers because they need to know who they are serving. Well, we have eaten in there several times before (no kids) and were never carded. No other restaurant that we have been in to (including other POPULAR sports bars) have ever refused service to kids or in our case, an autistic kid who is 21. read more

Our comments are specifically related to food and service. My wife and I are a couple of mature adults who don't do the sports bar thing all that often, although we have very positive experiences with the same in the past. We know haute cuisine. We have each worked in the food industry briefly and eaten in the best restaurants around the country and throughout the world. On a wine trip to Walla Walla we needed dinner on a Sunday night. Had my first experience at Red Monkey for a friends birthday. Arrived a little after ten and walked into nothing I had expected. Having just moved her it's a different scene then I am used to. People were dancing and most of the tables were full. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. The dj was responsive to people's requests and the staff did well with our large group. They even did well at taking charge and coming things down when an "episode" was about to happen. read more

The staff was great, the food was good. Friday and Saturday nights are the bars big night where a sort of dance scene happens. A small town big city effort. Unfortunately, I had seen on more than one occasion, young girls being over served. The food is underwhelming but acceptable, the environment is clean. So it has a lot more going for it than many places in Walla Walla. Honestly though, completely unremarkable. I went three to four times and will not be returning. One of the nights I went they were playing trivia games. Which normally I would have found very amusing. Unfortunately the whole thing came off as childish and silly. One quick look around the room and you could see the percentage of people dropped immediately when they started to set up for the trivia. My husband and I have gone to the Red Monkey for years for a quick after-work bite to eat and a beer (Jordan is a friendly and helpful waitress -- ask for her if you go!). Their menu is wonderful and their beer selection is full of great (and often local) craft beers. We have always enjoyed our time at the Red Monkey, and we were very excited when they became family friendly, since we have 3 kids and find it difficult to get a babysitter. We have taken our children multiple times for dinner over the past 6 months or so (since they started allowing minors) and have always had great experiences. The last two times we've gone (or attempted to go) have been highly disappointing. A new lady has recently started working there in the evenings (door-greeter, manager.. not sure what exactly she does), and she has been blatantly rude and un-inviting to us. The first time we went, she looked at all of our kids and told us that the wait would be at least 45 minutes (even though there were obviously a lot of tables available), and suggested that we might not want to wait that long. We didn't have anywhere else to go, so we decided to wait it out. After about 5 minutes, a different woman seated us. We placed our orders, and waited for almost an hour for our food. The waitress forget half of what we ordered and we had to ask again for much of what we ordered in the first place. She didn't apologize, and didn't seem to notice that we were repeating our requests. We assumed that the employees were new and/or having a bad night, and decided to give it another chance, hoping that our last experience was a one-time deal. We went back tonight, and the same rude lady met us at the door and again looked at our 3 children (who are very well behaved, and were clean and appropriately dressed for dinner) with a look of disgust and said it would be at least a 45 minute wait for us. There were many open tables in sight. She said there was a party of 8 in front of us already, and asked us in tone that suggested we were not welcome if we wanted to wait that long. There was no party of 8 anywhere to be seen (or any other party at all), so we decided to wait. Soon after, a party of four (2 adults and 2 minors) walked in, and the lady said to her co-worker "Oh, this will be easier," and seated them right away. We left and went to Wingman Birdz and Brewz (also kid friendly), and were treated like well-paying respectable customers.
