I got a Lobsterfest meal with 2 lobster tails. One was raw!! I asked for butter and sour cream on the side for my baked potato and I got nothing! I would rate this Red Lobster location a zero if I had the option to, I had to rate it a one in order to post this review. My family and I made the terrible mistake of visiting this Red Lobster in Union, NJ on Monday 7/8/19 for lunch. We were among the first customers in the door so we knew without a doubt that we would receive speedy and professional service since it was so early in the day. We were wrong! When we arrived inside the hostess showed us to our booth and the waiting game began. My family and I sat for what seemed like 30-45 minutes before the waitress came over. The waitress Milagros J stopped at our table for a second and said I will be right with you, she did this twice before she finally came over and took our drink order. We had three people ordering so it was no rocket science. This waitress came into our presence with a bad spirit, unfriendly and just plain miserable as if she hated her job and decided to take it out on us. She took the drink order which was water and I iced tea and never bothered to introduce herself or bother to exchange pleasantries. It was evident quickly that she was miserable and didn't mind showing it. Again we waited another 20-30 minutes for two waters and an iced tea but she did bring us biscuits earlier. She should not have bothered because we all almost choked to death on the small dry biscuits that we ate while waiting on our drinks. We could not understand what the issue was and started getting annoyed because it seemed as if she was deliberately taking her time. I had to get up from the table to see where our drinks were she took so long. She had an attitude when I mentioned that the drinks took long. This is so unusual for Red Lobster. We are used to the amazing service and friendliness of the Cherry Hill location, this service in Union was appalling. When we finally did order our meal and ate, we were ready to leave and dissatisfied with this location and service. There is a very unprofessional way that the staff handles the public and we felt when we walked in and should have walked out. The location is also not as clean as we are used to either. This server did not bother to at any time check on us to see if everything was ok with our meal. She forgot our tarter sauce for our shrimp and brought one over a few minutes before we left, she did this deliberately. She is the worst server we have ever encountered at any restaurant and she needs to be retrained on the standards for Darden restaurants. We are quite sure the CEO would not appreciate or tolerate this unprofessional behavior from their employees. The only thing that would satisfy me and my family would be a full refund for such a bad experience so that we can redo the lunch at the Cherry Hill location where we get respect and excellent service. I bought an anniversary dinner for my wife and I. Thank God my wife enjoyed her meal but I got self diagnosed food poisoning. To be clear shortly after taking a few bites of my items (which my wife did not have) I was not feeling any desire to eat anymore. By that night I was unable to function as human being. I could not hold anything down and did not know what end to put where in the restroom. I don't know why it's called the restroom since at no time has any resting occurred in it. I have now been in bed for 24 hours straight. I can barely walk since I'm so weak. We went over the top for our anniversary and placed a $123.00 including tip on our dinner. My wife and I ate some of the same appetizers and she is ok. I took two scoops of the dip (not my wife) , ate only two of my shrimp from my admirals fest dinner and only two mozzarella sticks and BAM!. I am taking Amodiam AD and some mint oil for nausea. This is the worst anniversary I have ever had but I thank God my wife is ok. Symptoms of food poisoning indicate that i may have this up to 5 days. The service at this place is horrible. I saw the two start rating but still decided to give this restaurant a try. So I called in to reserve a spot and the woman who answered had a very nasty attitude. She lied to me and told me that there is no such thing as calling ahead. Once I got to the restaurant I asked the general manager and he told me the person was lying and that it is possible to call ahead. Fast forward to being seated and ordering a drink the Waiter was very nasty and had a bad attitude. I asked for an extra shot for my drink and he told me he doesn't make the drink so he doesn't know if I got an extra shot or not but I will be charged for it. That makes no sense. Red Lobster is one of the best food chains out there and is one of my go to places. Unfortunately, this establishment was down right disappointing. On various occasions the waiter would take very long to either take our order or bring us our food. TODAY, my boyfriend and I were seated by the host, which failed to greet us well. We sat down and chose our meal for the day, this took about 10 minutes. Multiple waiter in our section would just pass by as if the seats were empty, we even tried making eye contact with them so they would notice us. No one ever took our order or even delivered some drinks or biscuits. After 20 minutes we left and just went to Chilies. After approx 35 we were seated (10:15pm?), we were greeted by our server 10 mins after we were sat & ordered drinks/an app. We waited 15 mins for the appetizer and drinks. When the app finally came out, we still had not received our drinks. I spoke to the manager who was very apologetic and handled the situation properly. This place just keeps getting worst every time I visit. The Asian guy at the front saw my party of five walk in the door, looked me right in the eyes and walked away. Happy we decided to come to Red lobster today. We've been wanting some Biscuits and Shrimps for the longest so my boyfriend took off work and we went for It. We was seated as soon as we walked in no wait what so ever which was a plus. Our server was Oladi Who was Good and on his A game. My boyfriend and I did the Endless Shrimps and Oladi made sure we didn't go with out as he kept them coming. I had a little problem which wasn't a big deal ,But I wanted to talk to the Manager who was Great. Took care of any issue and concerns I had. As well as came back 2X to make sure that we was good. Red Lobster gets a bum rap. I agree the place is a zoo, busy as all sh*t. You need to expect that. No matter when you go. I went during the week against my will (well sort of) because majority rules and the majority wanted to go here. I had been to a RL years and years ago. I remember one distinct item. Their cheesy biscuits. Occasionally I dream about our reunion. The day has come. Oh and it will not fail me. So on a random Wed, the wait was 15 mins...fudge! Everyone was hungry. So a couple of us ventured to the bar. It was about the size of my living room aka small. A few seats and a couple of booths that you need to be "host seated at". The bartender (as I read previously) was slower than a sloth in quicksand. It took about 15 mins to get our drink order, 10 mins to receive it...not cool RL. It wasn't even that busy. BS. Even after this debacle, our table still wasn't ready. Damn it. So finally after a 35 minute wait, our table was ready. As the group was seated our server was all over us...finally great service. The funny thing was anything that was ordered from the bar always took longer...so maybe double fist if you have to...just a thought. Our app order was promptly entered and within minutes the main attraction showed up...ahhhh the cheesy biscuits...it took about 26 seconds for the entire basket to be annihilated. Just like I remembered. The server, being great at what he does, had another order within mins...thank you sir. Not long after, the smorgasbord of apps that were sampled: parrot coconut shrimp (mmmmm), Shrimp Nachos (meh), steamed clams (I did not try but they said it was good) and lobster-artichoke dip (decent). For a main course (please don't judge...a lot) I went with the combo of peppercorn grilled sirloin with Walt's favorite shrimp. Now before you go ahead and lose respect for me I just want you to know that the steak was quite delectable. More so than the seafood here. There, I said it. And a couple of other foodie wannabees at the table agreed. It was very tender and you could cut it with a fork. I will go even further to say it was better than ones I ate at a steakhouse... So to sum up this review: Service: Table, excellent. Bar, poor. Ambiance: Not much to it, wall to wall carpeting and back ground noise of babies crying. Prices: Very reasonable for the quality. Tonight reminded me exactly why we stopped visiting this establishment. While our waitress was nice, the food was beyond disgusting. Shrimp scampi over cooked and bland, linguine bland and tasteless, steak was ordered medium well and was served DRY and well done. So inconsistent. The food & service are good when it's crowded but when it's not crowded the workers are so lazy and the food comes out dry and not flavorful. It's like no one's on their A game unless they're under pressure. I'm here currently & was ready to leave but I'm not the one that drove. Thought it would've been crowded to guarantee good service, but it's actually empty for a Saturday. We arrived here about 2:30. The waiter came to our table about 2:45 & our salads didn't arrive until about 3:15. Biscuits came minutes later. Service is so slow today and it's not even crowded. Service was somewhat speedy.My waiter was a young hip Spanish kid who used a lot of slang, but maintained professional. The food was...errrr....Red Lobster. I ordered a small salad and the combo with 7 oz. steak, garlic shrimp and cheesey lobster mashed potatoes. I was pleased with everything except the taters. The cheese is like, FAKE CHEESE tasting. Yes, caps. That's how I feel. I understand cheese, and even fake cheese, but they didn't even try to make it taste good. I don't even know. Otherwise, I dig it. It's a chain you know? We had a feeling this would be a bad visit upon entry - and we were right. There was no one to greet us. A confused waitress came out and seated us. Our table was filthy. We had to ask for a wipe down. Our waiter did come promptly, however, he never gave us his name or told us what the specials were. We had to ask for silverware. We asked for a sample of wine because we'd never heard of any of the offerings on the menu. Our waiter left to ask his manager if this was ok. He cane back 10 minutes later saying he never found someone to consent to our request, but that he would comp the sample of wine when he did find a manager. This sounded questionable so my companion just ordered a Chardonnay. The food came out quickly. It was ok. My salad had wilted lettuce. We had to ask for biscuits and that little fork that should accompany a crab dish. Another server brought us the fork as we could not find our waiter at this point to facilitate this request. The bathroom had no soap at either sink. One sink had a hole where the soap dispenser should have been. The paper towel dispenser was automatic and temperamental to say the least. I felt like I was in a Seinfeld episode trying to get paper towels out. All in all a poor visit and I get that it's a chain, but for a $70 tab, so not worth what we paid. read more

I normally try to avoid reviewing chain restaurants, but this Red Lobster location is so lackluster that I can't help but make an exception here. I've been to this location several times now, most recently on Cinco de Mayo- my thoughts were that everyone would be eating at a Mexican restaurant, so it would be fairly dead here. To an extent I was right, as there were several open seats at the bar, so I grabbed one. However, here was only one bartender working, splitting his time between making drinks for tables in the back room and tending to guests in the bar area. Unfortunately guests sitting at the bar took a backseat, as it took 10 minutes to flag him down and order a drink. Waiting for the check was equally as painful, the bartender disappeared for what seemed like 15 minutes and was nowhere in sight. Thankfully a manager came over and closed me out. What I didn't seem to understand was how much food was getting back to the kitchen. The couple seated next to me ordered the large fried seafood platter, and kept complaining how it was nothing like was pictures in the menu. This should have been a bad review, but the nice manager and supervisor turned it around. I'm being a bit generous, but here's my story. Went here with a friend on a Saturday night, we had a bit of a wait but it's usually packed on weekends so I can't complain about that. We had plenty of time to look at the menu while waiting for our seats, so after we were finally seated we promptly ordered drinks, an appetizer and two entrees. Our waiter brought our drinks our quickly, as well and the salad and the yummy cheese biscuits! Everything was going fine so far. But after about 30 minutes, I noticed the couple who were seated after us already had their entrees while we were still waiting for ours. I also noticed our waiter seemed to be avoiding us. Once I finally got his attention, he informed us our food was coming out very soon. So we continued our conversation patiently waiting. Another 15 minutes goes by and again he tells us the same thing... it's coming very soon. It's been an hour now since we ordered, and still nothing... Frustrating. So I got up and went to find someone else to help us. Btw, we had plans after this and had to leave within the next 30 minutes. I found the supervisor and asked him politely if he could just cancel the order for the rest of our food, and bring us the bill for the appetizer, drinks and salad since we had to leave soon. It had been more than an hour at this point. He was very nice, apologized and went into the kitchen to rush our orders. We finally got our food, at that point it had been about an hour and fifteen minutes since we placed our order. While we were eating, the supervisor came by our table and informed us that there was a mix-up in the kitchen with our order. He apologized again and told us that the meal was on the house! I was honestly satisfied with the sincere apology he gave us. A free meal was more than generous and any restaurant that is willing to go this far to make it up to their customers after a bad experience deserves at least 4 stars in my book. Overall the food was good, serving sizes bit smaller than I expected though. The servers can be hit or miss. Hopefully the issue we had was a one-time thing, I would go again. read more

My wife and I decided to stop here for a quick bite since we haven't been to a Red Lobster in ages. Last time I was here (8-10 years ago), I had a really bad experience and it was the first time I didn't give a tip to the server. Having been a server before, it's rare that happens given the fact that I know what they are going through. Anyway, this time around, service was almost as bad. The food was just ok but it seems like my server needs to know how to manage his time better. While he was nice, he seemed, inexperienced or lacked proper training. When my wife and I were seated, it took like 15 mins till our server arrived to take our order. Food came out at reasonable times. Appetizer in 10 mins. And main course 10 mins after that. Server showed up twice to ask if everything was ok. Well, we didn't see him much after cause 30 minutes passed before we saw him to ask for the check, that took about 15 more mins for him to bring that. Then when we gave our credit card for payment, that took another 15 mins. All in all, we were there for almost 2 hours. Here's the thing, for a restaurant, you want to get your tables seated as much as possible. We should have been out of there an hour earlier and in that time, they could have had this table seated. They behave as if you being there is an inconvenience to them. Its as if they would rather not be there. I have overheard them make comments of being there for extended times as if they are being overworked: this is a bad reflection on management since it has a trickle effect on the customer experience. First let me start with the smell that lingers in the restaurant, I know its a seafood place but that smell is more than just seafood. We came in on a Wednesday evening, the place had maybe 7 tables or so not busy at all, but then again it took a really long time for us to get our food. I hadn't been there since I was a little kid in the late 90s, so I figured it was something different from the other chains that line Route 22. Obviously, Red Lobster is by no means quality, top of the line seafood, but for the prices they charge, it's not bad either. All three of us decided to do the Four Course Feast, with the infamous and delicious cheddar bay biscuits. I had the Breaded Shrimp, with Caesar salad, New England Clam Chowder, and Caramel Cheesecake for dessert. Everything came out fresh and delicious. Again, by no means the world's best seafood, but for the price, it was way worth it for $17. Also, our wait was short and our waitress Ajah was very friendly and helpful. At first, we were skeptical because Red Lobster has a reputation of being overly crowded and bad quality for what it is, but we were pleasantly surprised. With this said, I will be back for the Four Course Feast, lunch specials, and of course, those amazing cheddar bay biscuits. read more

Red Lobster is more than just lobster, but it includes it. Oh yes. It includes it. And you can see the lobsters as you walk in. There in the tank like POWs at Guantanamo Bay, hands bound together. That tank needs some gravel, and maybe one of those plastic scuba dudes. It definitely could use some lights. Lava lamps prior to execution. The rest of the restaurant feels as drab as the tank. I remember this place being "the bomb" back in high school. Sometimes things need to change somewhat. What isn't drab is the service. That is alive and on point. They don't serve ice cream floats at Red Lobster. Not on the menu. They made me one anyway. Put it in a tall glass just like a professional ice cream place would.
