Red Lobster is a seafood chain restaurant, known for their fresh lobster and cheddar bay biscuits. This location is in Richmond, VA and has plenty of free parking in the lot in front of and around the restaurant. There's a sports bar section and plenty of indoor tables and booths, good for big groups as well. The ambiance here is dark and casual-classy. This place is nice for a date night or group outing if you like seafood. They also have a happy hour from 3-6 from Monday-Friday. The service here is okay. The restaurant was pretty empty on a Thursday night and our food came out relatively quickly. The food was mid and very expensive. The lobster dip was seasoned well but only had 4 pieces of lobster in it. It came with a good amount of chips though. The $19.99 lobster and shrimp Thursday special came with ~15 garlic shrimp and a lobster tail + chesapeake fries. Everything was seasoned okay, but some of the shrimp evidently weren't de-veined and the lobster meat was a bit tough. The chesapeake fries were delicious and crispy. The cheddar bay biscuits are a hit as always too! The brownie overload was my favorite thing of the night. It's a lot bigger than expected and well worth the $10.99. The warm brownies paired well with the sweet whipped cream and decadent ice cream. Would recommend ordering to share with 2 other people. I personally am not a seafood fan, but wanted to see what the hype was about because of the viral endless shrimp trend. It's been almost a decade since I've been back to Red Lobster. But it seems like I haven't missed much.. The food was not what I remembered from years ago. I tried to order an entree off the specials menu (lobsterfest menu), the lobsterfest duo, and the server said they were out of the scallops that were used for the entree. Mind you - I went on a Sunday for dinner but it wasn't very busy. I was confused why they were out of an item on their specials menu. I felt aggravated since this was the only menu item I really wanted. Forced to choose another item, I went with the grilled lobster, shrimp, and salmon. It was good but the lobster portion was smaller than what was pictured on the menu so I was a bit disappointed there. Service honestly SUCKED. When we walked in - the host asked if we had a reservation and we said we had one but are early for it. The host said "ok, we can probably get you sat now"... what do you mean?? I looked around the restaurant and it was practically empty with less than half the tables filled. I don't understand?? Anyways - we sat down and our server took our drink orders first. We ordered 4 drinks from the bar and 1 regular bev. None of us got our drinks until maybe about 20-30 minutes later? We never even got waters. It took about 20 minutes to get our cheddar biscuits and at that point, we still didn't have a our drinks yet. The server brought our drinks after we waited so long and didn't even bring waters. We had to ask her for it... very strange since it should be automatic that everyone gets water. We waited which felt like forever to get our food after we ordered it also. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be crabby, I still like Red Lobster, but their menu has changed quite a bit. I ordered the chicken tender meal, which was not on the menu but our server Danielle accommodated my order and said it was available just not on the menu. Weird. Then the chef came out with her and showed me a photo of these really dark tenders and said they weren't coming out right and if I wanted something else. Maybe they needed to change the oil? So they suggested the Parmesan chicken which was fine. Not my fav but it was all right. The rest of the meal was fine. My friend ordered a double popcorn shrimp meal (pick two) and was disappointed they took the regular popcorn shrimp meal off the menu. She wasn't shellfish, and shared them with my family! The first basket of biscuits that were brought out were cold and flat, but Danielle promptly brought us a fresh fluffy hot replacement. Love the garlic cheddar biscuits! That's really what brings us back! We also order several dishes to go for my family and that turned out pretty good as well. Seated us immediately. Brought out their great rolls as soon as we sat. And not just two but six. I was craving the lobster tails. They come with two sides. We visited on Saturday, May 23rd for the unlimited shrimp promotion, hoping for a nice evening out, but unfortunately the experience was very disappointing. Service was extremely slow from start to finish. Drinks took over 20 minutes to arrive, and some came out one at a time. My tea took over 30 minutes. Throughout the meal, our waitress rarely checked on the table, often disappearing for 20-30 minutes at a time, which made the unlimited shrimp experience frustrating since we could not place timely refill orders. Multiple orders were incorrect throughout the evening. We repeatedly received Walt shrimp when we had ordered scampi and the new "Marry Me Shrimp." One refill order was supposed to include scampi, Marry Me Shrimp, and Alfredo, but instead we received mostly incorrect items, missing food, and some dishes arrived cold. The Alfredo finally appeared much later with a to-go box after we had already been waiting on the check. We were there nearly two hours, spent a significant amount on dinner and drinks, and while we still tipped, the overall service experience was extremely poor for the price paid. What was most disappointing was that no manager ever checked on our table despite the ongoing issues. Ate at Red Lobster west broad last night - revisited w all the new info out on new menu. Have to say last visit years ago was not worth coming back for - this was different! I had the Bairdi crab option (so worth the $5) from the Crab Fest - Crab your way option on the menu. They were amazing! Cooked perfectly, full of meat, sweet - tender - almost more than I could eat. The potatoes were crispy - old bay Parmesan butter was very good but I chose to have it on the side - would have been poured on top otherwise. Great job Red Lobster! She moved the dirty dish off the table and set the menus down. She said enjoy and walked away. She didn't even wipe the table down. I didn't even sit down. I've worked in the industry, I get it if you're busy and haven't had time to bus a table. Hell, it's new year's eve, I get it if it's not even busy and you're just not rushing to clear off tables because it's a holiday. But what is unacceptable to me is not even attempting to wipe the table off. That is disgusting to me after a used plate has been sitting on it. I don't know where that plate has been, who has touched it, what's left on it. I was so angry and just left before sitting down. Visited for lunch on April 5, 2025, around 1:00 PM, Table 101, Check #: 42437. I initially requested to sit in a booth in the bar area but was informed there was no server available for that section. I was then seated in a booth in another area, where I waited for 15 minutes without being acknowledged or approached by any staff. I eventually asked the hostess that seated me if there was a server assigned to my table. She said she was looking for him but couldn't locate him. I told her that if she had to search for him, I wasn't interested in waiting any longer and decided to move to the bar counter instead. That's when Cabria stepped in and completely turned the experience around. She was exceptionally attentive, professional, and genuinely caring. Thanks to her, this review is five stars--otherwise, I would have rated it three based on the initial lack of service. I will also send kudos to the cook staff as my Fish and Chips were hot, fresh, and delicious; one of the biggest pieces of fish I have had being a Red Lobster regular. A note to management: there seem to be multiple sections/tables not open for service, but I observed several staff members sitting around in the bar area--supposedly prepping silverware and napkins, but mostly chatting and not appearing particularly engaged. A few others were coming and going, socializing rather than supporting the team. You have underutilized staff who could be addressing unattended tables and improving the overall customer experience; an honest observation. In summary: Cabria saved the day. They have a great deal: $30 for 1 premium item (filet, lobster tail, snow crab legs, scallops, sirloin), 2 shrimp items (fried, scampi, coconut, linguini) and 2 sides. I got the lobster tail, coconut shrimp & Walt's fried shrimp with a side salad & fries. It was delicious although my lobster tail was extremely small. They were out of romaine lettuce but offered to make salads with spring mix. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful, even though they had to work on Christmas Eve. Tons of other options to eat and a plenty of non-seafood options as well. And the cheddar bay biscuits were light and fluffy and taste so much better than the box mix you find at the store. We ate at the one in Chesterfield a couple years ago it was really good. Just hadn't been back so I'm at my cousin at the one on West broad Street. I got coconut shrimp five pieces WITH NO COCONUT came out on a plate with a tiny baked potato and a salad on the side. THIS WAS FROM THE LUNCH MENU AND WAS AROUND $13. WE EACH ORDERED A MIXED DRINK. Right now, I'm highly disappointed after my family decided to try Red Lobster again, after years of not going. We were excited about new menu items and leadership, and were in the mood for seafood. We ordered delivery, and after receiving our food, noticed some items missing. That sucks, but I went ahead and called the restaurant, thinking it was no big deal to get it all worked out. I have now been calling the restaurant multiple times for an hour. The only time I've been able to speak to a person is if I indicate I would like to make a new order over the phone. I've learned people taking new orders over the phone are not in the actual restaurant, and no one is picking up that is actually in the restaurant - the manager nor the front desk. I have been advised to hold for an extended amount of time, to call back in a half hour, to click 8 (which doesn't even ring), ultimately the last one said I couldn't leave a message for someone to call me back, I was going to have to come to the restaurant, and just hung up before I could respond. This was a one and done for me. I would imagine you have to go out of your way or have a policy that says it's acceptable to serve delivery orders without picking up the phone in your restaurant. First off, let me say we had a wonderful waitress who was very efficient and pleasant BUT after waiting 20 minutes to be seated and after ordering we sat for another 40 minutes for our food to come out! I LOVE CRAB LEGS and was so looking forward to them and I was very disappointed. They were extremely small and half of them had no meat in them and they didn't have the crackers and tools to help open the spiny ones. I left with the spiny ones to bring home where I had the proper tools and hope they have some meat in them. 12/26/21: We had a taste for Red Lobster & we were near this location. This location is not permanently closed. They are up and running. We ordered curbside: Golden Fried Fish/mashed potatoes kids meal, chicken strips/fries meal, & cheddar bay biscuits. The kids meal fish was fresh & they give you a good portion. The mashed potatoes were old & had a little spice in it. I didn't care for them at all. The chicken strips were tough & cooked in old oil. It left a bad taste in our mouths. The fries were fresh. The cheddar bay biscuits were delicious. The service was excellent. We just waited in a curbside spot, texted them that we were there, and turned on our hazard lights. The young lady that brought our food out was very bubbly and friendly even at 8:30 pm. They didn't put any cutlery in the bag as requested, but luckily we had some in the car. Went to Red Lobster for lunch about 12:30. There was a good crowd but it wasn't full. We were greeted pleasantly. After waiting about ten minutes a server came to the table and brought water. A while later she brought bread and took our order. She waited about 15 or so minutes for the food to come out. I'd ordered a platter of popcorn shrimp, shrimp scampi and fried flounder and a baked potato. The food was hot and tasty-just the way Red Lobster use to be. After we ate the server brought our check. We gave her our method of payment and waited and waited for her to return. After about 12-15 minutes we got her attention. Seems she was t aware our cards and receipts had not been returned to us nor where they were. Finally after 5-10 more minutes the server brought water our cards and receipts. We were concerned because our credit cards had been out of our possession so long. Perhaps consideration should be given to payments at the table. Horrible, horrible, (did I say horrible), service? I hadn't been to Red Lobster in years, since 2021/2022 as the service and food had really gone down hill! After seeing a commerical with the "new CEO" stating there had been many changes and to come visit again, I decide to give it a try. I don't reside in Richmond, but was in the area with some friends. We were a party of 3 and right away we noticed several things had changed for the worse with the new menu. They had increased a few very popular meals by 50%, although, the portions remained the same They no longer provide the yummy salads with meals anymore.The "use to be" very delicious breads that RL is known for were missing ingredients. Most important, they no longer had the cheese in them. We even asked our waitress regarding the changes and she verified saying yes there had been a lot of changes. Shrimp meals had way less breading, no flavor. The loaded baked potatoes (which is an upcharge) came out "not loaded" with only a dab of sour cream. Bread and baked potatoes arrived cold and every platter was missing something. We could clearly see there was only 2 waittress for the whole resturant and they were barely around for service. No one in my party was happy with their orders. Customers were asking the busboys,"can you please get my waitress"? I will say, our waitress was extremely nice and very apologetic, however, lacked with regards to checking on us and slow to return for requested items. Because she was very nice and tried to accommodate us, (so clearly some things are out of of her control) I still left an over 20% tip. Needless to say, I will not be going to Red Lobster again. I know they are going through BK but went today for Crab Feast they were out of Crab Legs, salad, broccoli and baked potatoes. No Lobsters in the tank. I only come here because my mother-in-law insists on it probably because she used to remember this place from many years ago as a good place but I guess they let their quality bar drop beginning with the whole decor being outdated and sad. The only redeeming thing here is the Cheddar bay Biscuits, everything else I ever order here has to be either breaded and fried or heavily bathed in oil and butter probably to mask the quality of it. My stomach never feels good after eating here and this time was no different. This time the only passing thing was the flounder. The shrimp and scallops were extremely oily. My belly was making noises and I was bloated for the remainder of the day. My mother in law loves breaded shrimp and baked potatoes so she was ok with it. My wife however tried their bacon burger and has food poisoning from it. She said the meat tasted medium rare but it was entirely brown inside which leads me to think the meat was frozen for a loooong time before cooked. I'm usually a Red Lobster hater but it's quarantine. What do you want from me? We have exhausted all of our local takeout options and when I had a hankering for seafood pasta, it was time to bite the bullet and get red lobster. So, I love the ranch and side salads at Red Lobster. One thing you should know is that they only have caesar salads right now. I was really disappointed by that. I was looking forward to my side salad with the bomb ranch, but i was able to order a caesar with ranch dressing instead. When I received it, I was really disappointed. The leaves were wilted and it just wasn't good. On to the rest of my meal. I actually really enjoyed my lobster alfredo. It was just what I wanted and there were lots of chunky lobster pieces mixed in. I did curbside pickup, so all I had to do was park and call the number. My food was brought right out. Last night I visited store 0251 located at 8009 W Broad St, Richmond, Va 23294. I walked in and a hostess by the name of Jen, looked up and said "How many"? There was absolutely no greeting at all and definitely no smile . She took us to a table. We sit down and we are greeted by our server Bryan M. I ordered a strawberry lemonade and ordered the lobster bisque for an appetizer. My daughter was meeting us at the restaurant and had arrived in the lobby. She called to ask us where we were sitting on her cell phone because there was no hostess at front at all. My daughter found us and sat down. Bryan then came back to tell us that the entire restaurant had no lemonade so they could not make my drink. We placed our order and I excused my self to the restroom where I found other customers standing at the front, with no hostess. When I leave the restroom, again there was no hostess in sight. I return to the table and our entrees was brought to us. About 15 minutes into the meal, Bryan comes back to check on us and I told him then that I still had not received my appetizer and at that point, he could just remove the item from my ticket. I had not visited a Red Lobster in quite some time and I was sadly disappointed with my experience. I was excited to come out and try some of the new menu items. I knew the company had a new CEO who was eager to turn the business around. He should never visit this location, he would be not be happy. The restaurant was only what appeared to be 30% filled and that is a stretch. There is never a reason not to smile when customers enter your establishment and not say hello if you are a hostess. There also is no reason to "forget" an appetizer order if you are a server. That omission costs the restaurant revenue. I only hope this location does better in the future. This was the worst dining experience I have ever had. Walking in I had a group of 10 my family for my birthday. The hostess with the long dark ponytail about 50 of age clearly was pissed shaking her head on and off as she was getting out menus together and her silverware.. she was actually slamming the menus down on the table while she was shaking her head..wow.. three of the kids meals came out one child went without while the other three ate their meals no one else had anything on the table for at least another 15 minutes.. extra biscuits were never offered I had to stand up and go get them. Refills were never offered I had to go to another waitress to get them filled up. After three tries I finally got Pepsi for the kids. I paid $9 for a lobster potato the size of a small peach with a quarter size of lobster on top that couldn't even be chewed up it was so hard.. they saw that we had a cake but no one came over to offer plates. I had to again get up and go get the plates myself. But before we could even cut the Cake I had to clear the whole table off myself. I have never experienced anything this bad and will never go back. They made us feel extremely unwelcome and it was clearly s*** service.. 12/19/2024. I went to the Red Lobster on Broad Street. The dish I ordered the waiter returned to inform me they didn't have salmon which was part of the entree. He suggested I get the $40 entree. I said I didn't want to spend $40 & asked if I could double one of the items in the entree I wanted. He checked & said she said no. Very disappointed she wasn't willing to accommodate the customer. I ended up just getting an appetizer. I'm big on customer service and will not visit that location again. I informed him to make sure & tell her (the manager) there is no soap in the ladies restroom. First let me say that our waitress was amazing! The highlight of the lunch. We had not been in a number of years but my husband and I were truly disappointed. 1. The shrimp was chewy 2. The scallops very bland or too spicy and fishy tasting not the expected taste (& recently had some a week ago elsewhere so I know the difference). 3. The fish was tiny - my husband said it tasted like 'Gorton's' frozen fish. The waitress did explain that it used to be flounder but recently changed to white fish because the flounder population was getting too low. Please figure something else out though because this is not working. 4. The breading was just awful on everything. It tasted bland and my husband said his tasted overcooked. Sometimes when you're at home you just decide that you want some Cheddar Biscuits. Once that thought comes, there's no turning back; Red Lobster is the only place for them. And the rest of the food is good too! --Food: I got the Shrimp Your Way with Popcorn Shrimp and Fried Shrimp. I chose a Caesar Salad for the salad and french fries for the side. My fiancee got a half portion of the Grilled Salmon Special of the day and a side of rice pilaf with a plain garden salad. We initially got 6 cheddar biscuits and asked for some more to bring home. Some highlights: - Cheddar Biscuits: Cheddary and delicious, I'd be lying if I said that this wasn't the main reason we chose to dine here tonight. Never disappoints. And most of the time the staff is cool with you just asking for more, knowing that you're just going to bring them home. - Popcorn Shrimp: Of the couple dozen times I've went to Red Lobster over the years, I'd say I get the popcorn shrimp about 90% of the time. It's nothing spectacular, but I've never been let down by the battered little shrimps! This time was no exception. --Cost: Both of our meals together came to just shy of $30. For the amount of food it's worth it, but I'm sure you can get better seafood somewhere else for the same price. --Atmosphere: I think they just renovated the interior of this Red Lobster, but this was our first time here so I'm not sure what changed. It's more or less like all the Red Lobsters I've been to in Upstate NY, which isn't a bad thing. --Service: Our experience was different than other reviewers in that our waitress was very pleasant. We came in at 5:40 PM on a Monday, were seated immediately, and our food was served within 15 minutes or so. We were even home by 6:30 PM. I'm not saying that this kind of speed is typical here, but I had no complaints at all. --Overall: I make it a habit not to eat at chain restaurants too much, but after all is said and done, I do admit to liking Red Lobster. Perhaps because it was always the restaurant we went to for family nights or for the occasional treat when I was a kid that I've grown to love it. As mentioned above, I'm sure you can get seafood of a higher quality many other places, but the cheddar biscuits and shrimp plates have yet to let me down. My fiancee also always enjoys the Wood Grilled fish specials and the fresh fish specials in general. We weren't disappointed with this location, and actually it seems like one of the faster ones. And this is slightly location bias, but we can walk to this location, and that to me is always a plus. That aside, I still am comfortable giving this Red Lobster 4 stars and will return. read more

My fiancé my son and I went to this red lobster for our 10 month anniversary. The service was stellar. Our server was Craig or Gregg I didn't hear him quite clear enough. He was so friendly and really made us feel welcome. I will definitely be returning and asking for him! Keep up the great work! read more

I'll be perfectly candid here: Red Lobster is my favorite chain restaurant of all, and this location was emblematic of everything the chain does right. While the chain itself was sold off from Darden recently, the high-quality experiences they provide have not changed one bit. Came here on a Friday evening, so we expected a wait. We didn't expect to be quoted an hour and 15 minutes for a table though; that was longer than we had planned on, and in the end we decided to just deal with it. Thankfully, they took us much sooner than that. Our server was very friendly, make frequent callbacks, and ensured that our unlimited shrimp entrees (which is pretty much the only thing I ever order here, how can you beat infinite shrimp?) stayed filled. As anyone who has ever been to a Red Lobster can tell you, the food here is to die for. Best biscuits on the planet, great caesar salads, amazing shrimp entrees, you can't go wrong. It was especially nice that they let you take your most recent shrimp order home with you if you can't finish (most 'unlimited' deals at places require that you not take any leftovers when you're finished). The ambiance here is always very classy for a chain, and it's pretty much the perfect date spot (assuming your date is open to eating seafood of some variety). While the price of this place keeps it from being a regular dinner spot, it's certainly a nice treat to reward yourself with at the end of a particularly challenging week. Overall: 4.5 stars ------------- Pros: - Best food from a chain restaurant of any I've ever been to. - Consistently great service on every visit I've had. - Lots of parking, which is good considering how busy they tend to be. - Ambiance is very pleasant, and it's not too loud either.
