This past Sunday (Memorial Day Weekend) We walked in and were greeted with a beautiful smile from the young lady standing there. Seated in the front, nice. Our waiter introduced himself (nice) and disappeared for about 15mins. He returns, took our orders recommended the cornbread because I was starving. When I tell you that cornbread is delicious, moist, soft and tastes like a cake...mmmmmmmmmmm good. I ordered a second batch. Our orders were cooked to perfection, seasoned to the Gods. My son started with 6 chicken wings ($11) which he enjoyed. Then he ordered the small seafood platter. For $58, that included snow crab, crawfish, shrimp, mussels & clams (plus corn & potatoes). He definitely enjoyed the crab best. My friend got the lobster special. For $48, that had 1/2 lb snow crab legs, 1/2 lb headless shrimp, and 1 lobster tail (plus corn, sausage & potatoes). I made my own combo - 1 lb of Dungeness crab and 1 lobster tail (total $39). Everything was fresh, hot, with delicious sauces. My order was the perfect amount and my 2 companions had lots of leftovers. Note that they AUTOMICALLY add a 15% gratuity - signage when you enter says it and it's clearly marked on the check. So yesterday, I tried the new seafood spot in RVA. Crafty Crab "Southside Plaza" My go to when I need to grab and go are Crab Cakes. Disclaimer: this is my review and I am a seafood lover Let's start with COVID is real and they were packed so I did take out! Fries: I think it was Cajun fries but I missed the Cajun taste. However they were orange. And fried in fish grease possibly. It lacked its own taste it was seafood flavored fries. Crab Cakes: they were soft fried, all filler, light on the Crab meat. Fried oysters taste fresh but a little too fried on the batter in areas..overall good. Didn't even touch my wings because it's just so much food. For my boil I had (3) servings of crab legs for each choice. which also comes with egg & sausage. I barely could touch my egg, sausage & corn because again it was so much food. Keep in mind they do add tip automatically but it's less than 20% of the ticket, so you have the option to add more. First review! I think this branch opened recently because I received a menu in my mailbox. I decided to give it a try and it was quite satisfying! I got the 1 pound of headless shrimp in their The Boom sauce (mixed cajun, garlic, lemon pepper) with mild spice. The order comes with 1 corn and 2 potatoes, but I added corn on the side as well. The shrimp were big and juicy and the amount of food was sufficient. I liked their sauce - compared to other cajun seafood places I've had, their sauce is definitely more on the liquid side with more butter-y flavor and less "garlic/herb chunks." We hoped to enjoy a great meal. Our server Shay was amazingly responsive but had limited to work with. The bar has a nice selection but couldn't make a martini cause they had no olives or vermouth. The raw oysters were not shucked correctly and ya had to pry them out of the shell with a plastic fork. The shrimp boil was good but the potatoes were underdone and the corn was just sad. After a tasking work week I opted for the WooWoo (they have an variety of specials also), it was just ok. The waitress suggested I try the cornbread and listennnnnnn did she tell me something! That was one of the best pieces of cornbread ever...fluffy not stiff and moist! Omg like cake! I also ordered the fried shrimp and onion ring basket! Yum yum yum! Both were seasoned and fried perfectly! I did try a head on and off shrimp, the head on was over cooked to me but the head off was cooked very well. The corn was tasteless, the potatoes were ok as long you dip them in the sauce (boom sauce), the shrimp was over cooked, and the crab was ok. It was a social gathering of ladies they were approximately 30 to 40 of us, and we gather together at one of the areas relegated for big parties. Our waitress was Renee., And believe it or not, she was so thorough and on top of thing. Even when we cause a little bit of confusion with folks moving around after the order, she didn't miss a beat. Our reservation time was from 3 to 5 on a Sunday and actually that was perfect because the place was not crowded at all and it was our group and another party and a few happy hour folks.
