My fried fish sandwich at 11am was not fresh fried fish, it was microwaved and the texture was rubber.

I was close by and wanted a fried fish sandwich so of course I came to Yelp for some recommendations.

When you walk in, the staff acknowledges you right away, which I always appreciate. The drinks and food come out pretty fast, and the environment is clean, fun, and relaxed. The bathrooms were also clean and smelled nice, which is something I always pay attention to. One of the faucets was slightly broken and the water pressure was very low, but that was the only issue I noticed. The drinks were good, and the seafood boil was amazing. The crabs were big, meaty, juicy, and the flavor was excellent. They play music that fits the culture and the vibe of the restaurant, which makes the atmosphere fun. The only thing I would suggest is possibly keeping the music censored earlier in the day since families and kids may be present. Some people may not mind, but it stood out to me. Overall, the exit experience was warm and pleasant. It felt like they genuinely wanted you to come back, which always leaves a good impression.

On my initial visit, everything was hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious. I left raving about it. This time, customer service was noticeably slow. We waited so long for gloves and a bib that by the time we were finally able to start eating, our boil had already cooled to a lukewarm temperature. It definitely took away from the experience. But I do need to note the young lady serving us was extremely pleasant but not the most attentive. The steamed oysters were also far too briny, and the sauce was so runny and watered down that it completely overpowered the dish. The sauce was a bright orange blob, nothing like the first time. It tasted like the butter was forgotten entirely. Unfortunately, that same sauce was used in my boil, which ruined it as well. During my first visit, the garlic butter was rich and full of flavor, so the inconsistency was surprising. The only thing that held up this time was the old-fashioned which remains a 10/10! For just over $200 with tip for two disappointing boils, three drinks, and a dozen oysters I'm not sure I'll return to give it another try anytime soon. However, I'd still encourage readers to give them a try as my second visit may have been on a bad night. The music is ALWAYS on point for me. **I rated it a four this time because my first visit was a solid five stars while my second visit barely averaged three.

TLDR; really deserving of 3.5 stars! Definitely better than 3 stars but not quite 4 stars. Skip…read morethe margaritas and order a dish with seafood. Vibe - this restaurant is SO CUTE inside! Full of beautiful murals and a lively atmosphere. We got a booth in front of massive windows and across from a huge tv. My husband got to watch the game and our 2 year old entertained herself by watching the cars drive by outside. It was the most peaceful restaurant experience we've had in awhile off of that alone! Our sever was kind and attentive. Food - The menu is huge and the prices were slightly higher than other Mexican Restaurants in town but the portions were a good size. We ordered the Steak and Shrimp Fajitas and the Tacos. The proteins were flavorful and the sides were good. We particularly enjoyed the shrimp and might stick with seafood if we decide to come back. Drinks - we got a mango margarita and a strawberry margarita. Neither were good but the strawberry was so flavorless we had to exchange it for lime. Even the lime was unenjoyable for me but my husband liked it. The smallest size was as expected for an $11 drink but I can't imagine ordering a bigger one (not to mention the price!!). Next time I would skip the drinks altogether.

I ordered a medium mango margarita. This was a very large medium and delish but I will say it had a very orange flavor, more than the mango flavor. Get it with the Tahjin for that nice extra touch. I also order the tacos piedad (I'm sure I spelt that wrong). Pricey at $20+ but I'm so full you could roll me out. Ask for the house hot sauce if you like a little heat (around a 3) it gives s a nice flavor added to the guacamole cabbage mixture they give you to put on the tacos. The beans are delicious with a hint of the peppers cooked with them. I will definitely be ordering this again. I went around 3:30pm so it was pretty empty but they had fun music playing & soccer on the tv. It's very clean inside and nicely decorated. A classier look than our traditional Mexican restaurants around Henrico with a lot of fun murals on the walls.
