Went and tried this place being that it was going viral on TikTok and it disappointed the whole group. I love the setting and how open it is and the games section upstairs. The big open bar and booths. However the only thing we liked were the drinks, the oysters, and wings. The food took an hour to come out and no one was in there. My order was just ok the Mac and cheese had no flavor and the po-boy was very small compared to ones I've had. Overall, I'll give the place a 5/10 but the food could definitely be better.

They did a great job making the former Dogtown Brewery their own. It is bright, inviting, and spacious. The staff is welcoming and pleasant. They did not seem overwhelmed and it was not too busy as it was a soft opening. The Oysters Blackwell was cooked perfectly. The seasoned collards add flavor to the already well meshed oysters and Parmesan. The oysters are were cooked perfectly. I will definitely be back as I wanted more. The Mac and cheese was good as well.

So I went to Bolo's Eatery for their soft opening event today. They smartly put a disclaimer on their website about the staff all being new and getting used to the processes and such, which I greatly appreciated. This new restaurant happens to be right around the corner from my school, so I was excited to check it out. From the moment I walked in the door, the vibe was pleasant. The ambiance is upscale meets working class. It is a very clean open restaurant that offers a variety of seating from booths to tables to the bar. My service was on point and so were the oysters. I had another place to visit after, so I just stuck to oysters. I had a half dozen of the flame broiled oysters which were made with herb butter, lemon, and Parmesan. They were quite tasty, but maybe just a tad too salty. They would be great with a beer though. Speaking of which, they don't quite yet have the draft beers yet, but it's a soft opening, so I understand. Hopefully, I can try them on my next visit. I also had a half dozen raw oysters, and they were able to give me 3 and 3 of the two types of oysters they had available. The raw oysters come with an Alabama white sauce, hot sauce, and fried saltines. I really enjoyed the oysters. It was my first time having them with white sauce. That was a nice new experience. I would love if they had some type of seasonal mignonette to go with the oysters or some horse radish. But either way, they were good. The menu said that their happy hour specials will start next week from 3-6pm. It will include $1 oysters , $5 well drinks, wines, and select drafts, and $5 fries. I will be back for sure!

We had mixed feelings about this restaurant. We thought some dishes were very good and some dishes were extremely lacking. I thought the beer was pretty good. I love the atmosphere. The fried chicken was very good but why are they charging two dollars much dollars more to get mac & cheese with it? some dishes were just out of reach for just a quick night out. A lot of the dishes were over $25. There is a happy hour, but it is limited. we are looking forward to coming back when the rooftop is open and they're gonna have music.

Hush puppies hit the spot for the app, sweet n savory with the honey butter. Attentive and prompt service with a smile. In here with the fam for a sibling birthday for brunch, no big crowd so we were able to sit quickly even before our entire party showed. Everything was nicely lit for brunch. Ordered the pan seared cod for me and the fam got chicken n waffles, wedge salad, fish sandwich and truffle fries with chicken tenders. Everyone liked the food . Thank you Bolo's for a good time. That pan seared cod was a delight

Very nice and clean. Nice size bar. I was surprised they didn't have a lunch menu. The service was great everyone was friendly but the crab cakes had so many shells my partner couldn't eat it. The manager was very nice and fixed the issue. My shrimp po boy was decent. I would go back and try again.

Came I. For happy hour and got me some $1 oysters and their special sauce was to die for. The fries were disappointing as they came soggy and mushy. We were also super disappointed because they ran out of waffle mix so we couldn't get that. we ended up getting the tenders and the wedge salad which was yummy. And those were probably some of the best tenders I've ever had but it was sad they didn't have the waffle. The wedge salad could have used some thing additional on it other than tomato's croutons and pickled onion but it was still good. One thing we did noticed when we walked in is the surplus of dirty tables everywhere. It was extremely odd. It also seemed like our waitress was not completely aware of when we were trying to get her attention but it did also seem like she was working the entire restaurant and bar on her own which also seems crazy. The chicken tender madeit all worth it though.

Chicken tenders and fries. Handbreaded and huge.

Great energetic atmosphere. House-brewed beer. Hand breaded chicken that comes out too hot to eat. Fries were excellent and something special. Hush puppies were above average. Service was attentive. I'd definitely return.

Food, service and vibe was everything! Went on a Sunday afternoon for the first time. Really enjoyed and can't wait to come back and try some other menu options.

Love this new gem in Manchester on outside of Richmond. Granted offering Oysters, Fried Chicken and Fresh Beer made on site is going to attract me. But it is as good as it sounds.

We got the $1 oysters and truffle fries on happy hour, which actually goes until 7pm despite what I was seeing online! Their hot sauce was also really good. This would be a great spot for larger parties

I went to Bolo's tonight for happy hour, and honestly I can say I'm extremely disappointed in the food. I am a huge fan of Buttermilk and Honey so I came in with high expectations. I ordered the Rosso wine, a dozen raw oysters, bacon cheese fries, and brussels sprouts. The oysters were the only good thing out of my order because they were clean. I believe the hot sauce was as house made and it wasn't spicy at all. The fries had no seasoning at all and the cheese was hardened by the time it came out to me. The brussels sprouts were light and airy but burnt to a crisp. The sauce drizzled over top did not have any flavor as well. This restaurant is fairly new so I am hoping they just tweak the food. My server was Samantha and she was nothing short of amazing.

We ended up sitting at the bar for a couple beers and dinner. The outside vibe had fire pits and Adirondack chairs with some tables. From the minute, we entered to the moment we laughed. We were thoughtfully waited on by all the staff. Falcon smash is always my go to beer when I go there and this grilled chicken Parmesan sandwich was amazing. Definitely worth a stop when you're Midlothian Virginia.

I've followed this brewery on social media for a few months and have noticed their pictures consistently feature pours with an inordinate amount (2-3") of head on them. As someone who absolutely hates foam, I asked up front for no head. The bartender winced and explained they had to pour that way or they'd get in trouble because the ownership "wants the aroma expressed." I was taken aback...not only by the total lack of regard for the customer but for levying that threat against an employee. I was waiting to meet someone somewhere else for dinner, and put aside my disdain and capitulated as I didn't want anyone getting in trouble over a beer. So, I figured I'd make the most of things out on the patio. Alas, you can't take glass out in the patio, only plastic cups. What?!? If this were a college bar on a Friday night, sure - pour into plastic. But happy hour in Midlothian? The bartender did say they could pour no foam for a plastic cup though, which I thought was funny - they're so precious about their beer the foam is mandatory, but yeah, just dump it in plastic for the patio. All in all, a negative experience and one I won't repeat. My advice is to give the customer what they want, don't threaten employees, and eat the cost of a few broken glasses. To be clear: I get the notion of aromas and such, but this isn't Russian River or Alchemist, or even The Veil (none of which have foam mandates). I could even understand if they were busy (I was the only one ordering), but I wouldn't have asked for a longer pour under those circumstances. The beers are average regionals and customer service and good treatment of employees are non-negotiables. I hope ownership sees this and chills out; the person who pays for the beer dictates the pour, not you.
