Wonderful place with a huge indoor area that was sleek, modern, and very big-group friendly. Solid beers with friendly staff that let me try all sorts of different things before reaching a decision. Also plenty of stuff to do and see - so many retro-style games, trivia nights, run club, etc... just a great communal spot that I will most certainly be coming back to. Also dog-friendly patio which was exactly what we were looking for! The worst thing about this place is the location - but that is literally the only bad thing I could ever say about it. Final Gravity sometimes feels like an underrated brewery. It's a no frills place but the beer is very good. They have beat out The Veil as my favorite in the RVA area. They have a variety of style with a concentration on the NE Hazy IPA, which taste-wise wins over the Veil's hazies to me. Final is in a sleepier part of town compared to the bustle of the Scotts Addition's (SA) brewery scene. As someone who is now middle age (how did that happen?!) I appreciate that the crowd here does skew a little older than the 20s/30s of SA. It's a great spot to bring a game or some cards, as well as food/snacks and just hang out. Staff is always friendly and happy to let you try something before committing. There's some pinball machines and darts if that's your jam. If you're exploring the RVA brewery scene, don't skip on this gem. read more

They don't offer food, but Killa Dillas next door delivers, which was pretty convenient. They had a number of beers on tap, with an assortment that was pretty IPA heavy. I've been told this is where all the local brewers go for beer. I found it challenging to find the brewery as I was expecting a large building with just the brewery but this place is tucked into the far end of a small strip plaza so you might be hard pressed to find it if you've never been. The parking lot is shared among several different businesses but has plenty of spaces. The bartender here was great and the IPA's I had were really good. I would skip on the local Salsa they sell here if you're a salsa fan as I didn't find it appealing at all. They have Pinball and video games here which I thought was cool. Final Gravity Brewing is awesome. First off, they obviously have a huge selection of beers. My favorite was the Lakeside lager pale ale; but they have a lot of great beers, way too many to list. The inside seating is spacious and clean. They also have a handful of outdoor seating which is great to take advantage of on a nice day/evening. Final Gravity doesn't serve food, but they do allow you to bring food in. Here's a pro tip: Virginia BBQ is a few doors down. Go get your meal there and bring it back to Final Gravity... I offered the same advice on Virginia BBQ's Yelp page! BBQ and beer makes for a great meal. Their logo is really cool... a fine addition to my t-shirt collection! ; ) We are out-of-towners, but we are in Richmond a couple times a year for soccer tournaments. Stopped here after eating next door. I wish I had realized we could have brought our food over to their outdoor area so we could have actally gotten a table here and enjoyed a beer with our meal. That said, the outdoor area is great but not enough seating. Individuals come and take up an entire table without even ordering anything. So we had to stay inside where when I went to sit on the end of the bench it almost flipped over. We stayed close by the door and watched for an outdoor table to open up. Once I saw one I told my husband let's go. As i gathered my bag and opened the door, another girl dodged to the door. I wasn't thinking she would be so rude as she just heard me, so I was polite and held the door for her. She ran right over to the table then laughed and pointed as she told her friend the story upon him joining her. Though the beer was good, we ended up leaving as I didn't really want my daughter inside and, after seeing the musical chairs required to obtain outdoor seating at this point, it was just easier to leave. read more

Best brewery in Richmond!!!! Atmosphere great as well. There's always live music, trivia, dart games, or something going on here. They have large tables, small tables, an out door patio space. You can also order some snacks or chips and salsa while there and like most places they welcome outside food. Beer is creative and so good!! Love their smoothie sour type beers. Also the Montpelier Train Station Porter is soooo good. Deft need to put this place on your "must try" list. I need to say that we had a great experience as a small group of friends on Sunday. We had gone to watch the finals of the soccer World Cup. I appreciated that the game sound/commentary was being played also as that helps with enjoyment of the game. The establishment was clean, I liked the open design layout with the large windows. They have several types of beer on hand as well as cool merchandise. Parking is easy thanks to the attached open parking lot. I like the Gose beer type they had on hand. We popped in last night after dinner for a quick beer. We are spoiled back home with great breweries and we often struggle to find solid ones when we travel. We really enjoyed Final Gravity! Firstly, there's a ton of beer selection and if you like IPAs, you will have so many to choose from. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and the place is huge. We played darts and accidentally knocked a beer off and broke the glass. They immediately came to clean it up and gave a new beer at no charge. My wife and I stopped in to kill some time before meeting some friends. This is a very cool nano brewery. First off, it is a small place in a strip of stores. The only parking that I could find was in the lot that was shared with other stores and it was SMALL. However, once we got parked and into the place... it is very laid back feeling. THey have a pretty good list of beer options. You have to get beers in either full pours or 4 oz tasters..(I am not sure if that is what they call it or not) They did not do flights.. which was fine. Their descriptions of their beer was accurate in my opinion. Definitely give this place a try... Richmond is a gem for local breweries and Final Gravity definitely didn't let me down. (See what I did there?) I walked in on a Friday, early in the afternoon, place was pretty empty, aside from a table of 4 ladies and 2 guys chilling at the bar and the two guys on staff. The atmosphere was rustic. Well maintained, and approachable. I really like that they have a lot of games like darts and shuffleboard. I took a seat at the side bar and begin trying as much as I could With nine IPA's on draft, I knew I probably wasn't going to get to try everything I wanted. There isn't a single beer I would give any less than a B. Just a few to point out: the Fire Station 5 is one of the best Reds I've ever had. Not too malty or sweet, a nice dose of amber flavor. for a double IPA, the Cassiopeia really hit the spot. Cashmere and Mosaic hops gave this beer that was somewhere between bright and bitter. Very complex, very good. They also had a Morning Glory, which is a double NE IPA. This had just been released, but wow, this needs to stay on the menu permanently. Potent, yet very smooth and drinkable. But the Doppler Effect, their flagship IPA, isn't to be missed. Clean and tropical, but not really sweet. I can see why it won numerous awards and has been nationally ranked. I got an oversized can to go. I have a few other breweries to check out when I'm back in Richmond, but I would definitely return to FG. read more

A strong 4.5. This is my local neighborhood brewery but I put that bias completely aside because there is simply no arguing with the quality of establishment and beers offered. I'm a near weekly patron and have been so for the better part of 3 years. The hoppy offerings in the form of pales, ipas and dipas have always been very good but I would say if late this category is way above average in the awesome category. Well balanced, thoughtful hop combinations seamlessly always work here with a body to boot. Next favorites on the menu are the lagers, of which I wish they would make more of. The fast machine American hopped pils is always a winner. Comfortable, cool ambiance with the instrumental reggae/hip hop style of music playing. There is plenty of seating inside and out with three dart boards and a few arcade games to keep a good mix of entertainment flowing for all ages. Let me start by saying I love the beer here. This location is pretty odd. It is right next to a antique store and the outdoor area is right along the road. There is not much around except houses and the antique shop. Although the location is a bit odd they still manage to make the inside seem grungy, cool and hip. I think this brewery would fit in better in Scotts Addition or an area like that. It wasn't clear when we got there if we needed to order beer inside or if a server would come to our table outside but we ended up just copying other people around us and eventually went inside to order drinks. read more

I really enjoy hanging out at Final Gravity and trying new beer. It's a very casual, relaxed neighborhood bar and brewery. The decor is simple and modern: raw wood, dark toned tables, benches, and stools, and several iterations of their astronaut logo and name. There are dart boards on one wall, a large bar, a few muted televisions, and a connecting shop called Original Gravity that sells beer-related merchandise and books. Their beer is consistently good and inexpensive for the craft beer scene; usually about $6 for a regular pour and $10 for a small growler fill. They don't serve food, but you're encouraged to bring your own; there are even signs in the unisex restrooms listing takeout and delivery options in the area such as Carytown Burgers and Fries and Arianna's Pizza. Most weekdays they're only open from 2:00-7:00, but on Thursdays, oddly enough, there's a Lakeside running club that meets there at 6:30 and then comes for a beer after their run. My only complaint: they could really use some better ventilation. It's humid inside so that the windows fog up, and there's an incredibly strong and not pleasant odor from hops. read more

No food service but you can bring your own or order from local restaurants. I saw tables with barbecue, pizza, and one group brought a picnic. They have a basket with a few snacks to munch on but we were hungry, and wanted full service, so we downed our beers and left. This is such an unassuming, laid back, easy going neighborhood brewery. It's attached to a small antique strip mall and around the corner from a year round farmers market. On one side is Original Gravity which is an extensive home brew store for all your home brewing needs, including a wide variety of grains and yeasts. Very organized and clean, perfect place to touch and see home brew items one usually has to buy online. And then there's Final Gravity on the left side that houses a long and inviting bar, beautiful space scene artwork and a chalkboard list of their own original beers. 5 of their beers have been awarded some high honors, 2 winning gold at the 2016 VA Craft Brewers Cup. They have lots of seating at tables, a bar along the windows and even outside, just a super laid back atmosphere. Seriously cool spot, worth a visit and a few flights. Woot! read more

We drove in from Virginia Beach to see a show at The National later that night. So my husband and I decided to get to Richmond early and make a brewery day out of it. Final Gravity was our first stop. We managed to make it to 4 stops before we had to be at Vagabond for our reservation. To be honest, Final Gravity was probably my favorite of our stops that day. It was Tuesday at 12:30 pm, so not to our surprise, we were the only customers there drinking, there was 1 other guy there to buy brewing supplies. So this place is a brewpub and a brewing supply store in 1. Very cool concept. It was very welcoming. They had board games, they had free biscuits for people who bring dogs (+1 for Final Gravity), they sold juice boxes for the parents who bring their kids. This is +10 for me since we typically bring our 2 year old with us when we visit different breweries. There was also a nice outdoor patio area with a couple tables. I decided to get the 4 oz tasters of: The Doppler Effect (IPA), Venus Rising (IPA), and Violet Saison. My husband got a 4 oz taster of the Irish Goodbye (Stout) and a glass of The Doppler. The Doppler was probably my favorite beer of the day. We ended up getting a Crowler of the Doppler to bring back to VB with us. Venus Rising was also really good, it went down really smooth for a beer that has 8.1% ABV. The least of my favorites was the Violet Saison. I used to be a huge fan of Saisons, but apparently my taste buds have changed. My husband describes his Irish Goodbye as "delicious and smooth." This one got 2nd in the Irish Stout Category at the Virginia Craft Brewers Cup. Oh and I have to say, the little tasting glasses are so cute! It was hard for me to not purchase one...I bought the bigger version instead. Our beertender was very knowledgeable with the beers they had on tap, along with other local breweries in the area. He gave us little tidbits on places that I had on my list of breweries/brewpubs I wanted to see that day. He even gave us a Beer Trail Map. If you visit participating breweries/brewpubs they give you a stamp, once you get 5 stamps, you get a shirt or a hat. We only made it to 3 on the list though. We will definitely be back when in the area, and will recommend to friends visiting the area. read more

I went to Final Gravity on 8/19/18 while exploring some craft breweries in the Richmond, VA area. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the laid back atmosphere of Final Gravity. If I lived in the Richmond area I could see the brewery being a great place to meet up with some friends. The brewery does not offer flights but does have individual tasters to purchase. The majority of their menu is tailored to the IPA drinker. In a nutshell, nothing outstanding regarding their individual brews but their comfortable atmosphere make it worth a visit. read more
