Not a huge variety, but what they have is solid. Ambiance (3/5): Sound carries easily in the space, making it a bit loud. Seating is limited. Small groups of two often take over the large indoor picnic tables, which leaves larger groups awkwardly standing or crowding around the wall seating. Expect to see plenty of baby strollers and dogs inside. There's usually a food truck outside since the brewery doesn't serve food. This is a must visit place for any beer lover in Richmond. Came in recently with my girlfriends to sit on the patio and it was lovely. They have an incredible menu of Korean food as well as a large selection of drinks and a few cocktails. Highly recommend the fries, they are so unique and delicious! Will be back! read more

Nice brewery! Enjoyed both beers I tried while there. Ambiance is that of a beer hall with multiple large tables and a few couches. Vasen is a great brewery to hang out with friends, especially when the weather is nice thanks to their plentiful outdoor seating. I have been here multiple times though am only now getting around to writing a review. And it's about time too, they deserve the five stars: nice service, great draft beer selection, welcoming environment, and plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. Whether you're here with just one friend or a group on a bar crawl, they have you covered and serve quickly (which is fantastic when you're in a time squeeze!) While they don't have a lot of dark beer options (my personal faves), their beer selection is still excellent and I have always found something to enjoy, and at a reasonable price too. They have a few board game loaners to play too, which is nice if you didn't bring your own. Vasen is very much a microcosm of Scott's Addition itself: trendy, fun, new, and somewhere easy to hang out with people. Looking forward to my next visit here! Overall: 4.5 stars ---- Pros: - Great draft beer selection (though more dark beers would be nice). - Prices are fair for what you get. - Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, so you're clear no matter the season. - Upscale ambiance. Had a weird experience at this place a the end of May 2025. Got there right as they opened. There was what looked like an animal adoption group setting up some tables, but when I asked the bartenders there what was going on, they didn't know and worse, didn't seem to care. They didn't engage with me even though I was the only one at the bar. It was obvious they didn't want to be there. To top it off, the beers weren't particularly noticeable or worthy of a second visit. It's a shame because it's a nice space. read more

The first on our mission to complete the Richmond Beer Trail - and it was a goodie! The Triple Berry Sour packed a good punch and my partner loved her Rose Lager. Tables were ginormous - so we shared with someone and still had plenty of room to lay out a board game we brought with us. Honestly, this is a great spot to just hangout + drink - we didn't try the food, but looks like you can order from a little automated kiosk in the back to make it easy! Plenty of indoor seating with an accessible ramp and a few tables on the patio if the weather was better. Appreciated the bartenders recommendations on what to try as a first-timer. My wife and I met some people here for a few beers before dinner. It is a very nicely done building with indoor and outdoor seating. It was a Friday night and fairly crowded. There was also a food truck there that evening. Parking is all street parking on surrounding streets which can be a challenge but it usually works out. If you like IPAs or DIPAs, this is a place for you to try.. a lot of the beers available were these. There was a lager, a peach and a wheat beer as well. IPAs are not my favorite but I did try the Mexican lager they had and it was good. This is a very nice place to go to! read more

Great beer options and really liked the option to do blends/mixes. All of the flavors were interesting so I'm sure you couldn't go wrong for a unique taste. The outside patio had several tables with mini fire pits for chilly fall days. When we got there there was a line that was going in multiple directions but everyone was nice about it. The beertenders didn't let the line distract from spending time with each individual and making recommendations. Even with the personalized service the line moved fast. read more

Pet friendly and easy going plac. Some street parking. Unfortunately they didn't have flights at the time and were only doing half pours since the flight carriers needed washing. We ordered 3 half pours: The Guava Otter - Great Guava taste up front but still a pretty sour aftertaste but not bad. Radapils - Great Pilsner and super light and refreshing, I really enjoyed this. It is easy to drink and quite tasty. The Velvet Walrus - I was really excited for this one as it was a rum barrel aged with Toasted coconut but it was so incredibly heavy and a strong sweet taste at the end. I didn't quite get the coconut though. Good but definitely more a sipping beer. Food truck out front but I love the indoor and outdoor set up for seating. read more

Väsen Brewing Company is one of the many breweries in Scott's Addition. My housemate and I went on a Saturday night around 8pma and got an outdoor picnic table no trouble. It came with a little fire pit in the middle keeping us warm as we sipped on our beers. The service was excellent- quick, friendly and helpful. Using a QR code, you pull up the menu on your phone, but cannot order from your phone. Wait until a server stops by your table to get your beers. The menu is large and comes with sour ale. I ordered the mango passionfruit sour and really enjoyed it. It wasn't too sweet and more on the sour side. Price point is fair. If you're okay with safe distance indoor seating, the indoor space is HUGE. read more

Awesome beer but subpar service. There is supposed to be service that comes to your table because COVID but we had to go up and order as our server was always on his phone up front. I had the berry sour which was delicious. Wish they had flights as an option to try a bunch. I also tried the nitro cold brew coffee which was so smooth. We absolutely loved the vibe here and appreciated how family and dog-friendly Vasen is. They have great seating inside with picnic tables and high tops and outdoor seating as well. Third update. Back up to four stars! I'd say Vasen is in my top seven for breweries in the Richmond area. If you're stopping by Veil or one of the other breweries/ciders/meaderies/distilleries in Scott's Addition, it's easy to walk over to Vasen too. I still don't really visit as my primary destination, but it's a good stop nonetheless. I feel like both the beers and the service have improved since my last review about a year ago. They have ordering lines, which seem to help the flow of customers, and they consistently offer half pours now. Flights are big and are available during the week only, but I no longer have issues when requesting tastes prior to purchase. It's still quite busy inside, which is good for them, but not overwhelmingly so. I was last there a week ago on Saturday and there was plenty of room to move around inside and our group easily grabbed a table. I'd also like to compliment their bathrooms, as they're consistently clean. Back on the beer for one more note: I would like to see more variety. They're supposed to have a sour-focus, but I still prefer TCB or Veil over them. I've found many of the goses to be just average, and I feel like they can do better and branch out into different sour styles. I hope they'll experiment more as they evolve as a brewery. read more

My husband and I checked this place out on a Thursday afternoon and had a fun time. We sat inside, outdoor seating is also available. We tried the Norse Double IPA, Triple Peach Saison and Windhook IPA. The favorite was the Norse. I wish that I could have ordered a flight to try more of their beers though. I always enjoy coming here. I love the Nordic influence on beer names and beer recipes, as well as the decor. Parking is a bit of a challenge but it is like that got most breweries in this same area. Vasen is one of the nice brewery to come back again. I really like a beer that they had that evening (not a cidery, but a champagne taste to it). Please bear with me since I was not the one that ordered the drinks. There's plenty of space (depending what time you get there). We got great parking and a table at one of their huge wooden "picnic" tables. Enough room to bring my little one as well. DankEats food truck was there that evening, so we grab some of their pita plates to eat with the beers (wonderful pairing)! I'm not sure if they do it every Friday evening, but it was Open Mic Night where some of RVA (new) musicians come out and play. It can be definitely loud for babies, but we were able to stay due to our baby headphones that we got for our little man to keep on. It startled him when the bands were testing out their drumset. Overall, fun experience, clean place, friendly staffs, great beers and food trucks, and a fun night for some music in the city. I see myself coming back here again! read more

The design and decor of the space was neat, and their staff provided great, friendly service (loved our time with Eric)!! Beers also tasted great! We had four smaller pours and liked them all~ would totally go back to try more beers. There are several tables and whiskey barrel tables for indoor seating, as well as several picnic tables outside on their front patio. I wouldn't recommend the barrel tables unless you're planning on standing around it, because the stools are too high to comfortably sit in compared to the height of the table. read more

Vasen represents the best brewery I've visited in a neighborhood with more breweries than some cities have. The beers here range from hazy, juicy IPAs, clean American pales, funky farmhouse styles, and fruity sours. Prices are reasonable for pints and the beers are served at an appropriate temperature, ie not ice cold but well chilled. The Scott's Addition staple boasts a sizeable patio and a respectable amount of indoor seating. On a recent rainy day visit, my wife, brother in law, and I sat inside and dug the bright, outdoorsy vibe of the space. Because it was raining, the taproom felt a bit crowded and table space was slightly difficult to come by, but we nonetheless enjoyed our time there. Parking is all street and relatively easy to come by. There is usually a food truck parked directly in front of the brewery if you get hungry. read more
