This was my first time going here and my peers told me it was good- they were not lying ! The veggie tacos were amazing. The green sauce was my favorite on the tacos. What you do: go up to their bar to order food & drinks. They hand you your drink & a buzzer for your food. Find your seat wherever you please & make sure to keep an eye on that buzzer ! Once it goes off- you need to walk back to the bar and hand it to the kitchen side. Once you're done with your food & bevvy - place the glasses on the mats provided. Then your tray above the trash can nearby!! The vibes are pretty chill and family friendly. Lots of seating - music is a little loud but it works ! There also is an upstairs to visit as well. It was in the 70's this past weekend, so I was looking for someplace to cool off and decided to stop in and give this place a try. When I arrived on a Saturday afternoon, the outdoor patio was full, but I was able to find a table inside. There was a huge menu projected on the wall, including beer, sours, cider and cocktails, as well as Mexican food from the restaurant inside. The staff was pretty friendly and they let me try a couple of beers before I decided on the Healed, a light and refreshing lager, perfect to cool me off on a warm day. Went last night to meet up with my book club, and I'll be back. I didn't get a chance to try the food myself, but everything my friends ordered looked good. Parking is pretty limited, so just be prepared to circle a bit before finding a spot. I had to do a couple of laps. Overall, it's a great, spacious spot to hang out and catch up. read more

I'm not a big beer drinker but I do like that this place has a variety that you can choose from and sample before purchasing. I had my eyes set on the hornswoggler because it had chocolate in it. The nice man behind the counter poured me a little sample before I ordered a glass of it. I tried it. It was okay. So he suggested I try the painkiller fizzee instead. I did and fell in love with it immediately so I ordered that. It was so refreshing and paired well with the shrimp quesadilla, Gypsy quesadilla and birria tacos. I came here with family when we were in town for the weekend and the Veil Brewing was one of the recommended local favorites. We enjoyed our time here. Ugh I adore this place! To start - the drink menu is super expansive and includes beer, wine, cider, cocktails, and a pretty solid spirit selection. I have a gluten allergy, so it's great to have so many GF drink options at a brewery! The indoor and outdoor space is pretty expansive, and the outdoor space is dog friendly (my pup loves coming here and sitting in the sun). Lastly... Y Tu Mama is an authentic Mexican food establishment inside of the brewery itself, and the food is beyond epic. My only gripe is the parking lot - it's teeny tiny and shares the space with several other popular businesses, but I love this place so much that even the parking doesn't get me down! read more

A group of us went here after a company training class.. It has somewhat limited parking but there is indoor and outdoor seating. They have a pretty good variety of beers to choose from. I was driving so I did not have the chance to try as many as I would have liked. The beer I had was a lager and it was very good. I hope to be back again when i can try a few more of what they have on draft. read more

It's the best brewery in richmond! I don't like beer but I love it here! They have great options for those that don't like beer and even gluten free options! This past time I got a frozen punch and it was so refreshing! And it's even better that after you've had a drink they have great food from y tu mama! I got a quesadilla with chicken and pineapple and it was amazing! The staff is great and the atmosphere is so cool! They have great outdoor spaces but the inside is what shines! A true Richmond staple, the Veil is one of my favorite breweries in town. I'm not a big beer person, so their smoothie style sours always come to save the day when I'm there. I love this location so much because it's never insanely busy and it's walking distance from me. I'm also a big fan of Y Tu Mama that's inside this location (everything on the menu is amazing). For those who don't know, The Veil is so fun because the beers rotate. There is always something fresh and new to try. The designs are epic. If you take some cans home (or check their IG) you'll get to truly enjoy the art. The vibe here is great. It's very edgy and trendy. Between the massive neon art piece and the other accents, you're bound to find a great angle for your Yelp pic. I also adore the music they play at this location. Never have I ever pulled my phone out so many times to Shazam a song at a brewery like I do at the Forest Hill Veil. This place is great for groups or one on ones. I love this place! read more

The inside has such a cool vibe and decor including a red neon sign you can see from the second floor. There is plenty of seating including an outdoor patio. I don't drink alcohol and very much appreciated the two NA beer options. The NA IPA tasted the closest to a real beer than I maybe have ever had! The veil is an awesome place to check out with friends or for a date night. The ambiance was really dark and moody but it a good way. The line went quick and there was a large section to pick from. My friend and I were wanting to try one of their non alcoholic options and it was amazing! Can't remember the name but it was pineapple and passion fruit flavored. Perfect level of sour to sweet. Love the vibe here!!!! I actually came her to visit y tu mama and fell in love with the Tefnut Blueberry and Blackberry (Frozen) beer!!! First, I had no idea that beer slushies were a thing and now that I do babyyyyy this will be a regular thing for me!!! I had full intentions of trying a few beers but after tasting this, I was one and done and it was my bev of choice. Clearly, I will have to come back and try all the beers!! The interior is fabulous. Beautiful from the inside out. There is plenty of seating from outdoor, downstairs, upstairs and even a covered rooftop patio which is a vibe all in its own. Staff is super helpful, offering suggestions if you are unsure and patient to let you figure it out if you so chose. They do a good job of keeping everything clean and well maintained in all areas. We enjoyed this quick service location. The choices were outstanding. Heavy on the IPA and Light Beers, however there were still options for those of us that like something a little meatier. It's busy and loud with two levels, and a full menu. I ordered one of the quesadillas and I wasn't that impressed. It sounded like it would be loaded with goodness, but it was thin and bland with sub par cheese and a bite or two of extra ingredients. Would I eat here again, probably not. Very exciting to have a brewery close to my neighborhood. The space is beautiful and they are taking all the precautions to keep safe during COVID. There are so many beers to choose from, I don't like IPA's (and Veil has several of them) so I tried a "smoothie" beer instead. It sounds odd but is so delicious! The lil brekkie has a strong maple flavor and it really does taste like breakfast. My only concern is that parking is extremely limited and the spaces are pretty tight. Which sucks because it's a brewing company, and that's what you should mainly be there for. I was there with 3 other people and we didn't stay long. This is my favorite brewery in Richmond. I love the beer, the food, and the atmosphere. I usually stick to the fruited/sour beers because they taste more like spiked juice but I also enjoy their IPAs. I absolutely love their chicken nachos from Y Tu Mama. I think they have the best nachos in town. They have indoor and outdoor seating but my favorite place to sit is in the upstairs "window" section. When it's warm out, they open the doors. All of the workers are kind. Service is pretty fast paced, unless they are slammed. Like I said before, this is my favorite brewery. I will never turn down an invitation here. read more

Weird pitch, but this brewery is a good spot even if you don't drink alcohol. As someone who doesn't drink going to a brewery is usually a boring & awkward experience. However, the Veil is an exception to this. I've been twice & had great experiences both times. First time they only had soda as a nonalcoholic option, which is fine because some breweries don't even offer that.The second time I went the Veil had really good nonalcoholic brew, Ever Calm. It is made with crushed pineapple and passion fruit. I really enjoyed this drink because it was fruity & fun without being overly sugary. It's also in a served draft glass, so I don't feel like the odd man out by being the only person drinking out of a bottle. Silly I know, but it makes a difference. Of course the food at Y Tu Mamá is also incredible. During both visits I got the Chesterfield burrito without a tortilla -- it's one of the few foods where every bite is incredible. With super tender pork & plenty of cheese, what more could you ask for? 10/10 can't wait to go again. read more

I came opening day at 12:15 because I love The Veil! This is their 2nd Richmond location and it's a 10min walk from my house. Not that I need to walk because they have plenty of parking. The building is brand new and has an industrial feel. Two floors and two bars. Plenty of neon! It's got all the same beers from the Scott's Addition location with the bonus of Mexican food. Opening day was smashing! I have also gone back on a weekday and it was just as awesome. There is plenty of space, it's really set up well for Covid. The bar line was moving quickly and I think I waited 5min for food. I love their DIPA's and Starve D was excellent. We got burritos and the Del Mar and Chesterfield were super good and huge! The second time I went and got the Quesobirria (sorry about my spelling) and they were great. I cannot wait to come back!! read more

This is their 3rd location. Opening weekend and went to check it out. Amazing space in a run down area south of the river. Very cute space with the amazing Blanchards Coffee right next door. Also apart of the brewery is Y Tu Mama. Which is this amazing Mexican pop up food. Amazing prices with even better food! They could easily get 1-3$ more per item if they wanted. Meals are hella huge! The shrimp burrito had at least 10-13 shrimp on them! Super impressed and would definitely go back just for the food. read more

I have to do an updated review of The Veil because of the superb service I received! My husband and I wanted to celebrate with a group of friends so we decided to rent out the sunroom on a Friday night. This night also happened to coincide with The Veil's Anniversary celebration weekend. Despite that, the staff were so attentive and sweet. The food from Y Tu Mama was catered and it was delicious! They had heating trays for us to keep everything nice and warm - it was like eating the tacos right out of the kitchen the entire night. My friends and I started ordering beer from the Veil in the middle of the pandemic, and it was always soooo good! We hated paying the shipping on it though. So we decided to take the hour trip down to pick up our own! We loved the ambiance of the brewery. Great art and other features of the building. I always love when there are lots of options to choose from (IPAs, sours, lagers, stouts). We had some food from the Latin restaurant as well. Pretty tasty! Their tables are decently spaced. It's a popular place so I'm sure they want all the business they can get. They are very strict with the time limits on the tables too! So don't sit get comfortable. Love the beer and the food! Hate that there are more children here than adults! I have been sitting here watching people let their babies (under a year old) put their hands in their beer and suck on their fingers and the young parents think it's funny??? I am watching babies crawling on the floor and whatever is on the floor go into their mouths and the young parents are too busy drinking and socializing to even care. I've watched 2 or 3 year olds crawling up the stairs with their "parents" drinking at the other side of the building. Young children 4 or 5 years old going to the bathroom without a parent! This is another place we found out about one TickTock and so we had to check it out for ourselves. I know it was going to be good when we pulled up and the line was around the building and outside. People already have been talking good about this please and I can definitely agree with the hype! I love the way that it looks on the inside I also love how friendly the staff is and how knowledgeable they are they will easily tell you about the menu and what they have going on especially if you are new to this place the area and just eating here. One thing I can say is they cater to people who drink beer and I don't so I was kind of hoping that they had some thing a little more fruity and they did it so it's best if you don't drink beer just try some of the other drinks or just get a soda. Either way it's always going to be a good time when you come here just make sure that when you do come you come hungry and bring friends! read more

Conscious about distancing, sanitizer available, masks used. LOVE the layout of this new location with open space indoors on both the first and second floor plus an outdoor area. Awesome to have Y Tú Mamá inside AND outside to get good eats (mm nachos) while drinking. And of course, the beers are outstanding; my current favorite is the 10% stout (thick but with such a smooth taste) and the lighter marshmallow stout. Highly recommended!! read more

The tacos are good- I would not call them authentic but they are really good. It's nice to have somewhere you can sit down with kids and have a beer too, even though I didn't like the beer. The beers appear to be very complex; so complex it's difficult to know what you are getting. The IPAs are over hopped and the stouts have so many ingredients the taste is more like a sweet syrup than a strong dark beer. Not rushing back to try it again. read more

I was already a fan of the veil so when I heard about their new location minutes from my apartment I had to check it out. This is the third time we've been here! This time we came to pick up some to-go birria tacos, but given it's a Friday night, they were busy and the food took a few minutes longer to be ready than initially quoted. Alex (the manager I assume) checked in with us repeatedly while we were waiting to make sure we were taken care of. When he realized we had been standing around for 15+ minutes, he offered to find us a table and took care of a round of beers for my friend and I. This place has followed all Covid precautions and has taken the pandemic very seriously from what we've seen as well. The hospitality here is unmatched!!
