Earth And Sky American Wheat Ale on the patio!
Jeff L.

Love this spot! A true gem in Powhatan county. A great selection on tap - I've enjoyed everything I've tried (But especially their wheat ale & gose). The vibe is chill and the staff is super friendly. Cozy and inviting on the inside with a great patio area outside that even allows well behaved pups! There is usually live music & food trucks on the weekend. Some weeknights have trivia or bingo. I usually leave with 4 pack to go (or you can fill your growler). Don't overlook this awesome spot - it's convenient to Midlothian/Powhatan but definitely worth the trip from the west end or RVA!

Very friendly and lively place. Good beer and live music several nights a week. The owner usually comes by my table to chat.

This was my third time at this brewery in Midlothian. We ended up sitting at the bar for a couple beers and dinner. The outside vibe had fire pits and Adirondack chairs with some tables. From the minute, we entered to the moment we laughed. We were thoughtfully waited on by all the staff. Falcon smash is always my go to beer when I go there and this grilled chicken Parmesan sandwich was amazing. Definitely worth a stop when you're Midlothian Virginia.

I've followed this brewery on social media for a few months and have noticed their pictures consistently feature pours with an inordinate amount (2-3") of head on them. As someone who absolutely hates foam, I asked up front for no head. The bartender winced and explained they had to pour that way or they'd get in trouble because the ownership "wants the aroma expressed." I was taken aback...not only by the total lack of regard for the customer but for levying that threat against an employee. I was waiting to meet someone somewhere else for dinner, and put aside my disdain and capitulated as I didn't want anyone getting in trouble over a beer. So, I figured I'd make the most of things out on the patio. Alas, you can't take glass out in the patio, only plastic cups. What?!? If this were a college bar on a Friday night, sure - pour into plastic. But happy hour in Midlothian? The bartender did say they could pour no foam for a plastic cup though, which I thought was funny - they're so precious about their beer the foam is mandatory, but yeah, just dump it in plastic for the patio. All in all, a negative experience and one I won't repeat. My advice is to give the customer what they want, don't threaten employees, and eat the cost of a few broken glasses. To be clear: I get the notion of aromas and such, but this isn't Russian River or Alchemist, or even The Veil (none of which have foam mandates). I could even understand if they were busy (I was the only one ordering), but I wouldn't have asked for a longer pour under those circumstances. The beers are average regionals and customer service and good treatment of employees are non-negotiables. I hope ownership sees this and chills out; the person who pays for the beer dictates the pour, not you.

Definitely a local tavern...they reminded me more of the pubs you find in a small European town or the UK. Warm, cozy, and inviting. We immediately felt at home. Now to the people who complain here that they were "ignored" by the bartenders or that service took forever...read: local spot. If you're from out of town and you're expecting rushed service and the immediacy of the big city, this might not be the place for you. But if you're looking for something truly special, slide up to the bar. Be patient...the bartender will be there as soon as they're done listening to Old Bill tell his story. Order a beer and a pizza and take a seat at one of their small tables. Enjoy and unhurried drink. And right about the time you're feeling like ordering a second beer, your hot, delicious, perfectly cooked pizza will be dropping out of the ceiling on a dumb waiter (yes, from the ceiling...you read that right). Smother it in locally made hot sauce (an unexpected plus), grab your second beer and enjoy that delicious pizza with someone you love, or the new friend you made at the table next to you. But for God's sake, be patient, be kind, be respectful. Cause you're likely visiting, and Far Gohn is all about the local vibe!!

I've been to Far Gohn a few times with friends and it's become a bit of a staple in the town…read more There's quite a few people who are regulars there and there's this unique vibe to the place that really makes it stand out from everywhere else. That being said, there's some issues with it that are hard to overlook. I'll start by saying that the staff are mostly really kind and professional. There have been one or two who looked like they hated their jobs, but everyone else has been attentive. There's not a whole lot of seating space available at this location. So, if you're trying to visit during peak hours, it might be a bit difficult. There's some outside seating available, but if it's raining or anything, it's not recommended. The chief problem I've had is with the pizza. Nevermind the fact a German style brewery is making pizzas - the pizzas themselves are an absolute hit or miss, with most of the time being misses. The pizzas are overpriced for how inconsistent the quality is. They're either just right or super crunchy and inedible. If you're ordering to-go, add 10-20 minutes to the wait time they give you and that's how long it'll actually take. If you're here for a decent brew, it's a decent brewery with a bit of a following in Culpeper and it's worth checking out. I'd steer clear of the pizzas.
