    12" Meat lovers pizza
    Vincent M.

We wanted a quick lunch out and had some recommendations to try Far Gohn based on the beer as well as the pizza. The pizza decision was the toughest, but we split the 12" meat lovers. Usually I'm not one for a loaded meat pizza, but this was great. The crust barely held up and needed a little fold, but was cooked really well and close to the pizza I grew up with in NJ. I had what was closest to a beer... the lemon radler. Admittedly I enjoy sweet, and I think this was a perfect balance of just sweet and lemon-y enough without feeling like I had a lemonade. My wife had the berry cider, which was also on the JUST slightly sweet side. I'm not a dry cider person and I would have ordered one of those as well. We'll definitely head back and need to check out some of their specials.

Sorry there's no pizza but a photo wouldn't have done it justice. The supreme had plenty of toppings and the crust was perfect from the hard outside to soft and airy inside. Now the picture, the beer was flavorful and hoppy which made me happy to go for seconds.

Inside an 1885 old mill building to historic Culpeper is a popular brewery called Far Gohn Brewing Company. After rock climbing nearby at State Climb, my group of seven guys went for beer and pizza on a Friday early evening. Here's our experience: 1) Drinks: With 14 different beers on tap, there's something for everyone. They have all the traditional beer flavors as well as a passionfruit sour, a hard cider, and radlers. Since they were out of their sour, I ordered the cider. It was sweet and refreshing. 2) Food: They make eleven different kinds of pizza that come in 12 inches or 16 inches. To feed seven guys for dinner, we ordered four pizzas- Meat Lovers, Supreme, Flammkuchen White Pizza, and Octoberfest German Brat Pizza. We each got 4-5 slices and left content. The Meat Lovers and Supreme Pizza were the winners. The dough especially was very good. (It took about 15 minutes for our pizzas to come out after ordering, which is great!) 3) Space: The brick building is historic and comes with seating and a bar inside. There's also an outdoor patio in the back by the parking lot. They have board games for supervised kids and live music the Friday we went. 4) Service: It's efficient but pleasant.

Really chill establishment. Pizza- Great variety of flavors. Pizza was a good size and tasty. Drinks- love the variety of drink sizes that you can explore. Vibe- parking lot patio was well maintained. Nice to see ppl enjoying themselves. The staff that helped us were friendly, professional, and knowledgeable about the beer and wine varietals.

Fun place. Their roof was filled with the members jugs and I loved it! The beer was good too.

Raw dough. Again. 3/4 time. We gave them the benefit of the doubt, however dough continues to be raw and inedible. Today we did let the team know it was raw and they advised me to order "well done" next time. Offered, no resolution to the solution. The bartender was also was very unhelpful when it came to ordering a beer and advising "if you like that type of thing order it."

Stopped in to Far Gohn brewery for the first time. The beer was wonderful! Had the Scottish Ale and the wife had the Mexican Ale. Both were delicious. Pop in for a pint. I highly recommend it!

This is a fantastic brewery located in downtown/historic Culpeper. I have visited here a few times after completing hikes in Shenandoah and it is the perfect place to carb up on beer and pizza after grueling hikes. They offer a wide variety of beer from IPA's and porters to Hefeweizens, Kolchs, and radlers. It seems like they have about 20 different beers to sample including a margarita radler which is refreshing in hot days. They also offer delicious, made from scratch oven fired pizza. Their pizzas hit the spot and they have around 6 different pies to choose from. This place has a great atmosphere/vibe to it with seating on the inside as well as the outside. We always sit outside with our dog and enjoy the nice weather while playing some hillbilly golf. Definitely recommend trying this place out for any fan of good beer and pizza, or just a fan of a neat spot.

This place is awesome! The beer is phenomenal and so is the service. I didn't try a single beer I didn't like. I tried a flight and ended up ordering the hazy IPA. They also sell pizza. I didn't try it this time but it smelled great. If you are in or near Culpepper be sure to give this place a try!

The nice fall breeze was perfect with the gradual sunset that was happening at the same time this past Saturday evening. We took a lot of nice pictures here. BLACK BRIAR CIDER (PINT) - 9 This was pretty fruity and pleasant with blackberry notes. One of my friends had a sip and found it to be artificial, but I drank my cider pretty quickly and enjoyed it. You can taste the alcohol subtly, but not enough to make me gag. I'm not from the area so I wasn't aware, but the tax (sales + Culpeper County food & beverage) rate is 11.3% which is intense. Just an FYI if you're also not from the area and wondering why your bill is that high.

Unfortunately for us, the adults, we didn't enjoy the beers and food as much. Food was not it, we had the pulled pork nachos- the chip/pulled pork ratio was not good, barely any meat, flavor was ok-ish. And also ordered a hamburger because you can't go wrong with a hamburger- well we were wrong! The bread tasted stale and the patty was flavorless, the french fries were over salted, we took two bites and couldn't finish it. I had the peach cider which was pretty decent and my husband had a sour beer which he didn't like and another beer before we decided to call it a day. At least the kids had fun :)!

The interior gives upscale sports bar vibes. We chose a high top table toward the back of the restaurant. Our server ended up being the bartender too. They had $5 margaritas that night so I ordered one and we started with an order of their pierogies. There were four and they were served over a smear of their beer cheese. There were ok. I wanted more seasoning in the filling itself. It was pretty bland. For my entree I got their hot dog with chili and cheese with their housemade chips. I was pleasantly surprised to see a cheese sauce on the dog. It was pretty good. Some of the chips were pretty overcooked. The service brought this score down. I think the bartender was busy but plenty of servers were available. There was a lot of conversation at the bar. We probably should have just sat there. We missed out on drink refills, having our order taken promptly, and getting the check when we were ready to leave. Overall there were a lot of interesting things on the menu. I would want to return to see what else tasted good.

Gnarly Hops & Barley Fest is a craft beer festival held in Culpeper, VA. The 2015 Gnarly Hops &…read moreBarley Fest was my first visit to this event. It is recommended you pre-purchase your tickets online. There is a limited number of tickets. If there are any left the day of the event at the gate - they are priced at $35.00 per ticket (which is $10 more than they cost online). The tix are provided via EventBrite - so we used the EventBrite app on our iPhones to digitally present our tickets. We had to show ID at a tent outside the gate, then were given a blue wrist band, showed our tix to get in, and were then given a small beer glass with 10 tickets for beers. One tasting per ticket. The event runs from 12:00 noon to 6:00 pm. It was a cold, overcast day with a threat of rain - and yet the place was packed to the gills! There was a stage set up with live music, lots of food vendors, and over 30 breweries to sample from. We hit a number of breweries - and not all of them. Some we intentionally skipped for various reasons (Dogfish Head - we've drank many of their beers), Anheuser-Busch (NOT a craft brewery - EPIC FAIL! I don't classify Shock Top as a craft brewery - which I guess makes me a beer snob!) We sampled beers from Blue Mountain Brewery (Afton, VA); Schlafly Beer (St. Louis, MO); Devils Backbone Brewing Co. (Lexington, VA); South Street Brewery (Charlottesville, VA); Legend Brewing Co. (Richmond, VA); Wild Wolf Brewing Co. (Nellysford, VA); Apocalypse Ale Works (Forest, VA); Duclaw Brewing Co. (Baltimore, MD); and more... One thing that I will massively ding the event organizers on - is the availability of Don Jons. They were a total of 13 of them - and the line to use them was very long. It took 25 minutes of standing in line to get to the front of the line. They need to double or triple the amount of Dons Jons for future Gnarly Hops. With that many folks sucking down beer, it needs to go somewhere... fast... Great event, we had a fun time, just did not appreciate the standing in long lines to drain the beer...
