We drove over an hour to get to Iron Pipe , my husband was working in the area last year and found this place and wanted to take me here if he ever came back to the area. Wow I'm so glad he did. Got a veggie pizza to go, quickly prepared and as ordered (olives on the side). My wife liked it but wished for more sauce. I thought it was seasoned for a child's palate and would like to try one with different toppings. They brew various beers too. It was a Saturday with tons of service staff around. Met some friends here. Very crowded, and packed. Not enough parking either. People trying to beat people to tables after a party leaves and dirty dishes on the table still after the original party just left and the table needed to be bused and cleaned still while the new party or guest sit there to snag up the table. Thats how busy they are and it's like every guest and party for them selves. Looked like a cool place. But also they need more service employees because when they are busy you might be waiting kind of awhile for refills or ordering more food. It's kinda a mad house when they are busy due to the small location that they have. Food and drinks are decent too. read more

After exploring historic Culpeper, two friends and I stopped into Iron Pipe Alewerks for a beer on a Saturday night while a band was playing live on the outdoor patio. Selling pizza, the entire place smelled of cheese and tomato sauce. Beers on tap come in three sizes. My friend got the IPA and I the sour. I also got a tiny cup of the strawberry cider. The cider was the winner but all three tasted watered down. If you love craft beer, I recommend going to Far Gohn Brewing in nearby Culpeper. read more

We were craving good pizza and so glad we stopped by here. It's more of a brewery vibe, but a family of 6 was still able to find a nice table to sit and eat. Food: Their pizzas are small for their price, but boy are they good! We ordered 2 pizzas and ended up ordering another one since we were still hungry. Their garlic Parmesan wings are to die for!! I'd make the trip there everyday just to eat their wings! Drinks: they have lots of cool looking beers and the service was great. They have a cool membership program where you can buy a mug for $125 and you get every drink for $4 and probably other deals and things like that. I'm not much of a beer drinker, but if that's your thing and you're local, it seems like a good deal! The pizza is so tasty and flavorful. They have beer and cider! I couldn't decide what cider I wanted to try so I asked the bartender to surprise me! Lol and he did! So add fun spirited into their traits. I ordered: Veggie Pizza Hand -stretched dough, fresh San Marzano tomato sauce, topped with fresh shredded mozzarella cheese, green and yellow peppers, white onions, and mushrooms. Strong 4.4. Great pizza, wings, and beer. Neat set up being in an old silk factory that made parachutes during WW 2 and still has the pipes, hence the name. We stopped here after a day hiking since it was near our B&B at Meander. We got the bee sting pizza (very good, slight kick) and the meat-pelier which we also enjoyed. The baked wings were excellent and a good complement to the pizzas. There isn't much else to the food menu other than pizza and wings so just keep that in mind. The atmosphere was nice and they had the football game on the one TV at the bar. There is also an outdoor patio with heat lamps if you wish to sit outside. We enjoyed the beer as well - from the Betty Wit to the IPA's no complaints. We would definitely come back here. read more

While in Orange for a wine fest, friends said they were coming here and we tagged along.... What a GREAT idea that was! This place is OUTSANDING! It's a locally owned ale house that has amazing eats to go along with their great drinks! I'm not into beer, but I fund several here that I enjoyed! I definitely oved their pizza menu and so did everyone there, they must've sold a hundred pizzas in the hour or so we were there! They had very unique pizzas (along with all the usual suspects) like Chili Dog Pizza and Ruben Pizza! Their crust was amazing and toppings were perfect and abundant! Customer service was friendly and awesome and the restrooms, as well as dining room and back patio were all excellently clean and well-kept! Definitely can't wait to return to Iron Pipe! read more

The wife and I decided to break out of the house on a nice day after quarantining for a year. We were passing through on our way back home and decided to stop and have a beer. The place is pretty small but the inside atmosphere is pretty nice. The bathrooms were also nice and clean too. The outdoor seating area could use some work. Kind of just like chairs and tables on asphalt. We had already eaten elsewhere so we did not try the pizza although we've heard it was very good. The most important thing is that the beer was very good. We were glad to see a Pale Ale as sometimes they are hard to come by at these types of places. Ordered the swineaplle pizza and it was absolutely delicious- great crust, plenty of cheese and toppings except the pineapple was large chunks instead of smaller pieces. Otherwise very good. Side of ranch was good, not great. Not sure if it's made in house but seemed like it. Beer was delicious, I forget the name but it was one of the sours. Wonderful. Wings on the other hand were lackluster, to say the least. I got them to go so didn't try til I got back to my hotel...very soggy- Imnokay with somewhat soggy since they steamed themselves in the container, but these were bad. Worst thing is I ordered extra hot and these were mild at best. The blue cheese that came with was a container of Ken's which is terrible. No celery. Stopped in on my way through for the holiday. Great family owned business and a converted silk factory, which makes for a great ambiance. Award winning beer and fantastic pizza. Had a plain cheese and an outstanding chicken and spinach white pizza with bacon and a balsamic glaze. The "Betty Wit" beer was refreshing and solid. Finding good pizza in Virginia is super rare! Beer was great, we had one each, but the service was poor unfortunately. We waited 1 hour and 30 mins for a pizza (one pizza) and 8 wings. At no point did a manager or someone come out to say sorry or give us an update on our order. The patrons were all super nice but no "feel" from management about maybe giving a family with a young child an update or an apology for such a long wait for simple food. Only once we went in after patiently waiting AN HOUR did we get a lackluster sorry and an inaccurate time update, said 10 mins more and it was over 25 mins more to wait. . It would've gone a long way to offer a drink or breadsticks, or comp something when waiting that ridiculously long for something so simple as a pizza. I hate giving bad reviews but man if you're not in the mood to waste an hour and a half waiting on food with no update , or aren't in the mood to go have some beers ( which again are very good beers and little wait for ) then maybe go elsewhere. Thought getting pizza on a Sunday night would be simple and quick, but we left frustrated not only having to wait so long, but in the lack of communication and service. read more

Came here Saturday night and oh boy I'm in trouble. I'm falling in love with every brewery I'm coming across. First, we got the Bee Sting Pizza which was mouth watering goodness. I love the spicy/sweet combo. This pizza reminds me of my favorite pizza back home in California. We had some beers but one I had to order was the Sassenach and pay tribute to my new favorite show I've been binge watching "Outlanders." It was kinda busy so we didn't get to explore the outdoor patio but sounded like there was a live band play. The customer service was on point many ppl checked in asking if we were good, how we were enjoying everything. They were extremely friendly. A couple of tips: If you don't like live music, avoid this place on Friday nights. You can't hear yourself think, much less carry on a conversation. The pizza is brought to you straight from the oven, so wait a few minutes before grabbing a slice, unless you want your hot melty toppings falling onto the table. Grabbed a couple pizza's for dinner, on the way through Orange. We just wanted something quick and simple, and this turned out to be a good choice. Crust seemed to be homemade, and they do a good job of crisping up the crust. We tried a pepperoni, which was very good, and a margherita, which was pretty good. Good price, and very friendly staff. This was our first time here and it was great. A good selection of beers and very good pizza. Both indoor and outdoor seating but if your allergic to bees like me you can't sit outdoors. Too many bees. They should do something about that. We had to sit inside on a beautiful weather day. Also they shouldn't be selling ice cream....it's a brewery. $5 for a small ice cream type sandwich which wasn't good at all should be taken off the menu. read more

This is a great little place for outstanding beer and cider. The gentlemen waiting on us were professional and knowledgeable. The food? Outstanding to say the least.
