This is an offshoot of Curio Wine Bar, and some friends and I had dinner there last night. I have to say, the experience was fantastic. We started with the bread assortment, which included flatbreads, rolls, dipping sauces, and butter. We also tried the fried artichoke leaves--they were perfectly crisp, tender, and delicious. For my entrée, I had the branzino with crispy skin, and it was cooked to perfection. The combination of lemon, herbs, and capers worked beautifully, and the fish practically melted in your mouth. They just opened and are still working out a few of the inevitable kinks that come with a new restaurant, but when it comes to the food, they absolutely hit the bullseye. 4/17/2026 What a great find! The Curio Staff was welcoming and friendly, from the gentleman serving as a "doorman" of sorts to the counter staff. I had just come from a hair appointment down the street and on my way back to my car, I noticed Sangria advertised on the mini sandwich board outside. I'm a HUGE fan of a glass of fruity Sangria on a hot day! The fact that it was Happy Hour with $5 glasses made it even easier to draw me inside!! When I explained this was my first visit, they explained the Curio concept, the various areas for sitting, sipping and gathering as well as the Curio Card process. They even had a small but really intriguing menu of various snacks, from charcuterie to flatbread and even dessert. The menu changes a couple times a month, making me want to plan more visits! The staff offered me sips of each so I could decide on a Sangria flavor. Despite not being a Moscato fan, I chose the Moscato Mule Sangria. It was light, refreshing and had the Moscow Mule flavors with the added sweetness of Moscato wine. I wandered into the cellar to explore more wine offerings and wound up running into fellow educators and their friends I had never met. We chatted like we were catching up and laughed about shared birthdays and teaching!! They invited me to hang with them, but I had to get home for Dog Mom Duty. We exchanged numbers so we could plan another "run-in" downtown SOON! If you haven't visited Curio, I HIGHLY recommend it. Bring a friend, or plan on making a few. We were already familiar with the wine bar, which had been open for some time, but the recently opened restaurant had caught our attention. Naturally, we decided it was time to explore this new addition to an already charming establishment. And what a menu! Beautifully curated and presented options, thoughtful combinations, and an atmosphere that immediately suggested we were in for something special. The dining experience was memorable, with excellent food and an ambiance that made us feel welcomed and comfortable. But the evening was only getting started. After dinner, we made our way through the beautiful inner courtyard, crossing over to the wine-tasting room. And something rather wonderful happened. For a brief moment, it felt as though we had left Fredericksburg altogether and stepped into another part of the world. A Journey Through Bordeaux, Italy, and Spain Our first destination? Bordeaux, France! Without purchasing an airline ticket, packing a suitcase, or enduring airport security, I found myself exploring the rich, powerful, and age-worthy red blends that have made Bordeaux one of the world's most celebrated wine regions. The depth, complexity, and character of those wines were remarkable. But why stop in France? As the evening progressed, my palate traveled through the beautiful wine regions of Italy and Spain, each offering its own distinctive character, history, and expression of winemaking tradition. What an extraordinary way to spend an evening! And here's the best part: After traveling through three countries in one night, I wasn't the least bit tired! No jet lag. No delayed flights. No lost luggage. Just wonderful wine, great company, and the desire to return for another adventure. The Wine-Tasting Experience: Brilliantly Simple One of the things I particularly enjoyed about Curio was its self-service wine-tasting concept. Here's how it works. You purchase a tasting card, which gives you access to the various wine-dispensing stations. From there, you can explore different wines at your own pace. Want just a small taste before committing to a particular wine? No problem. Prefer a full glass of something you already know and love? Go right ahead! The flexibility makes the experience enjoyable for both seasoned wine enthusiasts and those just beginning to explore the fascinating world of wine. What impressed me even more was the attention to detail. Each wine station was clearly labeled, with thoughtful descriptions that reflected a genuine understanding of the wines being offered. Curio was introduced to me by a friend and I am obsessed with this place. So many different seating areas to choose from, I always opt for the basement. The service is wonderful, with staff being very knowledgeable about the wines. What I love is the fact that you can taste as many wines as you want to once you've loaded up your Curio card. You can also choose a 2oz or 3oz pour instead if you already know what you want. I haven't tried the food here yet, but I'll definitely be coming back for the cinnamon spiced sangria and the mulled wine (must be bought from the bar. Not available on tap.) I love this place! I always want to come here when visiting Fredericksburg. We never have a problem finding street parking. You get a card and load it and once you pick your wine, you side your card in and pick your pour size. They have some food - flatbreads and charcuterie. We ordered hummus once and it was pretty good. We loved most of the wines abs the staff is super friendly. Cute outside and basement area too. Some light music and not too loud. Great to visit at any time. read more

Very cute wine bar with a good selection of west coast, international, and local wine. They are owned by Rogers Ford Winery, a local Virginia winery about half an hour away. While I have always loved everything their winemaker produces, Virginia wine (especially from Rogers Ford) is just a portion of what's available. Curio even has snacks and flatbread! The wine is basically self-service. You get a plastic card that you charge with credits (like a debit card) and choose the wine dispenser of your choice. You can get different level of pours, from a tiny sample to a half glass. The selections run everything from Argentinian Malbec to west coast Pinot to Virginia Petit Verdot to Bordeaux. That gives you a huge range to select from. I love the format, and I'm almost always there when in town to try something new. The flatbreads are good too! read more

Top notch customer service. We were greeted immediately and "shown the ropes" as we were new to the establishment. We purchased our wine card (my husband and I shared a card as there is a small fee for the card itself) and got $25 loaded onto it. We ordered our food, it was restaurant week so we got the special which included one of their sangrias, a flatbread pizza and a creme brulee dessert. We chose the peaches and cream sangria which was just ok, the la dolce vita pizza which had a bit of a spicy kick to it but was delicious! And the creme brulee was good. We came with two friends and they ordered the cheese board and the curio pizza. We found a seat downstairs which was really nice and cool on a 96° day and then we all walked around looking at all the different choices of wines, we made our selections, most of us choosing the small pours so we could try many different wines and then sat down for a great visit. The wine dispensing machines give you three options, a small taste, a good size 3oz pour or a larger glass which I believe might've been 6oz. It's a super fun way to taste different wines with friends and you can purchase a full bottle to either drink there or take home. There is no private parking that we saw so you'll need to find an adjacent lot or on street parking which was mostly 2 hour limit which did cut our visit short a bit but it was such a nice time that we'll definitely be back! read more

I decided to spend my 35th birthday here with some friends and rented out the wine cellar below. Easily one of my new favorite places in FXBG. This place is a one stop shop for wine. Upon walking in, my guest and I were greeted warmly and instantly engaged by the owner. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and instantly elevated the experience. Everyone here is so nice, and willing to help as well as let you explore - all while not being too pushy. For those who love wine or are just learning more about vino - this place has something for everyone. This is a self serve wine bar, where you purchase a tasting card which allows you to taste a plethora of different wines all while having the choice of sampling, or getting a full glass (which is an added touch). There are many places to enjoy the wine including upstairs, the courtyard, as well as a functional wine cellar. There are great lite bite options to snack on during the experience. 3rd time here - great for grabbing drinks and light apps before dinner! We love the vibe of this place and they always have sangrias on tap that they switch up! Had the Butter Board which had a red pepper butter and a lemon thyme butter which was amazing. Recommend putting more bread on the board but it was so good.
