Flank steak, mashed potatoes and broccolini

I've been here several times for work events that I've hosted for my company. They have a large room that will hold at least 20 people. The service we had tonight is the best I've experienced so far. Will is amazing. Very attentive, polite, genuine and worked with urgency. The food for me is about a 3.5 stars but the service from Will was 5 stars. I will say the best thing I had was the she crab soup.

Parmesan fries with aioli was delicious. Crab cake sandwich......

We came in sat at the bar waited for about 10 mins before anyone spoke to us. I think they were really busy. Ordered steak and crab cake sandwich. The steak was alright and kind of burnt. Crab cake sandwich was not what I was expecting. The Mac and Parmesan fries I would order again. My old fashioned was good! The design and decor were spectacular.

Very fancy and very new! Service was good but wasn't impressed with the food. Far more expensive than Olde town steak and seafood. And the portions were way smaller. No one was in the restaurant and we were walked all the way to the back of restaurant. My father and myself have arthritis in our feet, so that was a chore. I wish people would ask when you have a 83 yr old man either you. Not a wower! Wish it was.

Just a bit late posting this review but I wanted to be sure to memorialize an up and coming restaurant that will hopefully one day be a gem in the Fredericksburg area. Our dining experience was definitely enhanced by the restaurant atmosphere and the attentiveness of the service we received. To be honest, the only reason I selected this restaurant were the phenomenal photos of the chargrilled oysters I saw on Yelp but found that is not a regular menu item and we were super disappointed! The food was decent but honestly not memorable, but I am hoping that with time, this will become a sophisticated "go to" spot for me and hubby in the future.

I came out tonight for dinner at the chophouse. My friend just got a huge promotion, so we wanted to celebrate! We started with the shrimp mocktail on ice with seaweed salad, remoulade and cocktail sauce. The shrimp were enormous, I would definitely refer to them as prawns. They were out of the cocktail my friend ordered, but offered to make some other virgin drink they assured would be delicious. I like having the option of still, sparkling or house water. My friend ordered the 6oz filet with mashed potatoes and broccoli nice with the crab bernaise sauce. I got the short rib and grits. If you read my reviews, you know i order short ribs when I see them on a menu! As a person who rarely eats beef and/or steak it was fun to see they brought out an assortment of knives for one to choose their weapon for their entree! She even let me pick one out tho it was unnecessary, as my short rib was tender af, just fell right off the bone! The chocolate tower for dessert was so good, but not too rich. Very light! I opted for the pineapple sorbet with coconut foam and it was incredible! I must learn to make this at home, myself! Tonight was terrible for my diet, but it's always good to have a reason to celebrate and for the celebrating to go without a hitch! Five star experience tonight!

Omelet and breakfast potatoes

Five Chophouse has a beautiful dining area with an option to sit in the covered patio outside. I brought my dad here for brunch on Father's Day. I enjoyed the selection of options they had for brunch, ranging from French toast to omelets. I ordered the steak sandwich while my dad ordered the omelet. I personally love steak sandwiches and have ordered them very frequently from various restaurants. The one I ate here was quite underwhelming. The shaved steak seemed a bit over cooked and the sandwich overall was not that flavorful. However, the breakfast potatoes did taste good. My dad's omelette was also nothing special. Overall, we felt like this meal seemed like a typical hotel breakfast. We will be returning to try their dinner options!

Had a lovely dinner at Five Chophouse (just opened last week) where the service was stellar! It's located inside the new Publisher hotel walking distance from downtown Fredericksburg. It's a beautiful space, with a nice balance of modern and rustic charm. There is valet parking for your convenience. The side salad was deconstructed, but light and tasty. The Bordeaux was fantastic. My petite filet was very good and cooked perfectly (I recommend the espresso rub). The mashed potatoes were very flavorful. The s'mores dessert wasn't great, but everything else was fantastic. I'm planning to return to the hotel and the restaurant anytime I'm in Fredericksburg.

Unfortunately this restaurant was more ambiance than quality food when I visited. Service was a bit slow, taking 45 minutes to bring out 3 entrees and priced high for the portion size. We tried 2 steaks and the roasted chicken. The roasted chicken was rather plain but the steak was cooked properly and the highlight of the meal. We tried the lobster mac n cheese, but that had hardly any lobster in it. It was nice to try once, but I wouldn't choose to go here again with so many better options in the area.

Whole Branzino - served on a very hot plate which was nice. Very fresh and light dish

Our waiter was Jo Jo and she was amazing! Personable and attentive but also goes the extra mile. She didn't think I noticed her working behind the scenes to take care of us. As for the food, my was pretty good but not so much my wife's but when mentioned to the manager she was quick on it and wanted to fix it with another offering but wife declined and was pleasantly surprised by her taking it off the bill. Class act. New place and still finding its groove. I will go back!

We had a phenomenal experience. Our waitress was attentive from the start but not overbearing. Everything we ordered was SO GOOD. We ordered whipped feta (everyone should get it) and a brioche roll to start. Then my husband had steak with mushrooms and brussel sprouts- everything was cooked to perfection. I would have ordered 3 sides of brussel sprouts if I wasn't saving room for dessert. I had the scallop risotto- which I was already halfway through before getting a picture because it was that good. Lastly, we had the mango tiramisu which I would almost make a trip back just for that. It was everything you want in a dessert- light but flavorful- and also just beautiful. I loved the nod to the history while also creating something new, local, and modern. Will definitely be back for our next celebratory meal!

I had just come from a hair appointment down the street and on my way back to my car, I noticed Sangria advertised on the mini sandwich board outside. I'm a HUGE fan of a glass of fruity Sangria on a hot day! The fact that it was Happy Hour with $5 glasses made it even easier to draw me inside!! When I explained this was my first visit, they explained the Curio concept, the various areas for sitting, sipping and gathering as well as the Curio Card process. They even had a small but really intriguing menu of various snacks, from charcuterie to flatbread and even dessert. The menu changes a couple times a month, making me want to plan more visits! The staff offered me sips of each so I could decide on a Sangria flavor. Despite not being a Moscato fan, I chose the Moscato Mule Sangria. It was light, refreshing and had the Moscow Mule flavors with the added sweetness of Moscato wine. I wandered into the cellar to explore more wine offerings and wound up running into fellow educators and their friends I had never met. We chatted like we were catching up and laughed about shared birthdays and teaching!! They invited me to hang with them, but I had to get home for Dog Mom Duty. We exchanged numbers so we could plan another "run-in" downtown SOON! If you haven't visited Curio, I HIGHLY recommend it. Bring a friend, or plan on making a few. Next time, I'll be ordering food with my wine and lingering much longer! Thanks for a great end to my week. See y'all soon! Cheers!

The service is wonderful, with staff being very knowledgeable about the wines. What I love is the fact that you can taste as many wines as you want to once you've loaded up your Curio card. You can also choose a 2oz or 3oz pour instead if you already know what you want. I haven't tried the food here yet, but I'll definitely be coming back for the cinnamon spiced sangria and the mulled wine (must be bought from the bar. Not available on tap.) A must for all wine lovers.

We were seated promptly, no awkward hovering, and our waitress showed up friendly, sharp, and knowing her way around the menu--which is a quality that ought to be listed right next to "clean silverware." We started with the crab and corn chowder, and let me say this right now: the crab was not there for decoration. It announced itself. Big flavor, no apologies, the way crab chowder ought to be. Second round was the smoked salmon salad. Perfect. The salmon was excellent, but that tarragon caper dressing had a way of making you slow down and think about life choices. I would put that dressing on just about anything that didn't move fast enough. For the main event, I chose the scallops, and I am prepared to testify they were as good as any I've ever had. Perfectly cooked, sitting pretty with an aioli that knew its job and did it well. My wife ordered the beef medallions, and I'll admit this with humility: looking back, I may have chosen wrong. Those medallions were expertly prepared and packed with flavor, the kind that makes you reconsider your own plate. We finished with cheesecake and berries. The cheesecake did its part. The berries... well, not every inning is a home run. Fortunately, the wine stepped in like a good relief pitcher and made everything right again. Through it all, the service never slipped. We were treated the way folks ought to be treated when they go out to celebrate something that matters. And that, in my book, counts just as much as what's on the plate. Sorry for the lack of pictures the food and wine kept my attention

I seriously did not expect a restaurant in Fredericksburg to meet our expectations. Service was spot on as well. The beef medallions were tender and cooked perfectly medium. The shrimp were unexceptional next to the medallions. The cauliflower and other veggies with a hint of basil were lovely. The scallops were tender and fresh --so rare these days that we rarely order them. We chose a bottle of wine instead of wine pairings and our server helped us navigate the extensive wine list. The Beaumes de Venise red was a great choice because we are not so fond of white wine. The pot de chocolat and creme brulee were a perfect ending to an outstanding meal.

We were able to order whatever drink we wanted on the menu. For food, they brought trays out buffet style. We tried a variety of things. The star of the show was the Brussels sprouts. They were cooked to perfection and had a great sweet sauce. I enjoyed the salad too. They also brought out wings, mini burgers, mini fried chicken sandwiches, and tuna. Some were overcooked, but the flavor was nice. The seating was a bit awkward for a group our size in the private room, but we made it work. It was nice how casual it was.
