This is a branch of the original kindred spirits brewing opened in a quiet somewhat suburban area, but they have made a huge community center out of it. They block off the end of the parking lot set up a stage have live music lots of outdoor seating super friendly service, fantastic beer and a lively food truck, and limited kitchen service. read more

Finally went to Kindred Spirit Brewing and was not disappointed. They had a large space outside including stage and picnic areas (which were not in use due to the temperature) Inside had a slew of tables, and another stage with live music. They also have TVs on the wall and it seems like a great place to watch a game. Outside there was the Kindred Spirit food truck with a good selection of food. The beer and seltzers they had on tap there were solid. They had a nice variety and what they had all tasted good. read more

Loveeee this brewery! My boyfriend and I are brewery fanatics and we have high standards. Kindred definitely exceeded our expectations. The overall style and atmosphere was awesome. Staff was friendly, quick and attentive. And the beer was delicious. They had a good variety of beer styles and every one we tried were great (two IPA's, a double IPA and the brown ale). Both the indoor and outdoor areas are spacious with plenty of seating. It is near Hardywood which is also a great brewery but we definitely prefer a setting like Kindred. It was less crowded and more laid back. They had a food truck (although we didn't eat there) and a band was setting up. Oh and the best part is they allows dogs inside and out. A surprisingly cool brewery in a surprising location. You pull into an office park and drive around back to find Kindred Spirit at the end of the building. It's a little weird place for a brewery, but it worked. People were sitting outside on the cozy patio and there were a few wrought iron tables out front. It's smaller than a lot of other breweries in the area. They had a food truck parked right there which was a convenient touch! Inside is richly decorated with hardwood floors, deep green paint, twinkle lights and wooden barrels. There's plenty of seating, a game area and a view of the brewery. The place was buzzing with excitement! A fun friendly spot where people are convivial and pets are welcome! We ordered our beers, we got a flight and a few glasses of brew. Mine was the Paradise and it was crisp, light and refreshing. The bar tender was a bit condescending, snarky and sarcastic which put me off, but I was in a good mood so I rolled with it! (Word to the wise: smart ass = lame tip). My beer went well with the chicken fingers and fries we ordered from the food truck. And that guy who owned the truck was super friendly and chatted us up! My hubby thought his flight of beers was really good liked the dark stout the best. This is a chill relaxing spot that I'd hop to again! And I love the name, Kindred Spirit! read more

Kindred Spirit is a brewery without hype. It's confident in its own skin, produces quality brews, and has a loyal following. I'm glad I finally made my way out to the brewery a couple weeks ago. It's out near the new Hardywood location in the back of a random industrial park down the road. I visited late at night, about half an hour prior to closing, so I didn't take advantage of the outdoor area, nor did I take my time sipping beers. I ordered a flight (yay, a brewery that offers flights!), took in the sights, and headed out a few minutes before they shuttered for the night. It was still pretty hopping at that time. Most of their beers are great, but I most prefer the strawberry milkshake and the "Boyzen Da Hood" boysenberry​ sour (which I had several months ago...not sure if it's still available​ seasonally). Not sure how often I'll stop in since I dislike driving...but it's a worthy spot to check out if you're visiting the area. read more

Oh how I've missed going to breweries. This is such a nice chill spot. Usually have food trucks that park outside and live music on some nights. There is indoor and outdoor seating as well as the grotto out amongst the trees. Great beer selection here. I did t get many photos, but will add next time I'm here. Kindred is our favorite local brewery. I am a HopHead there and get the bigger pours, and more points. The point system in great for saving money, highly recommend you join. The beers are great. Really enjoy almost all of them.The Goodness is amazing, but remember it is 13%. It hits hard. They have fantastic IPAs. Hard to pic a favorite. Lots of good sours, except the cucumber, sorry guys not a fan. Lighter beer are great. Dark beers are fantastic, the goodness in one of them. They have their own food truck which is actually good food. The menu is limited, so unfortunately get tired of it after a while. Thursday nights is the best for the food truck with 1/2 price burgers. The egg rolls are fantastic too. The service is fantastic! The bartenders are always friendly and knowledgeable. Ross and Ford set the tone for the place which is very welcoming. One final note. Great indoor and outdoor space. Great musical acts. Dogs allowed inside. My two love to go there for all the attention they get. Highly recommended! read more

Kindred Spirit is a hidden gem. Tucked away in the trees, you will be met with a spacious taproom and friendly faces behind the bar. Their flagship beer, Head Space, was an exceptional pint. This really is a pretty place but the beer is just so so. My husband and I decided to venture out on a Sunday afternoon to have a couple of beers. We were considering going downtown but decided to give Kindred Spirit a try. The staff was super nice. I was checking out their options and they encouraged me to taste a few options. I ended up having a stout. My husband had a double IPA. He liked his IPA and I liked the stout but it was watery, a lightweight stout. We'd come back again for sure since it's so close. I was on my way through Richmond and decided to stop and try a beer at this place. It is a little hard to find as it seems to be in the back of an office complex. It is located in the far back end but there are signs and there is adequate parking. The inside of the place has a really cool atmosphere. There are a fair number of tables and stools at the bar. There are also glass windows to see where some of the beer is made. There were two bartenders there on the Friday evening I stopped in and they were both knowledgeable about the beer types and gave good recommendations. I had a flight and then a regular size beer of the 9 and Lime beer. As I was leaving, there was a guy setting up a mic and guitar so I assume that they also have some live music. THere was also a food truck there on the evening I stopped in. This is a really nice place with a good selection of beer. They also win the award for most creative mens urinal.. a keg with a side cut out. I included it in the pictures. read more

This place is a hidden gem off of the 288 near Short Pump. You drive around the back of a business park, and look for the cornhole games set up next to a table. Go on in, and delight in some of the best beer around. The place itself is large, with multiple TVs for various sporting events. It can accommodate just about any group. They had a food truck outside selling meat, meat, more meat, and meat. They have beers from all over the spectrum; our favorite was a stout with coffee and chocolate. They had an imperial stout that will knock your socks off, and plenty of IPA's that don't clobber you with hops. I'll have to come back here. read more

Interesting. Very interesting. My boyfriend and I made it to Kindred Spirit Brewing a few weeks on a Friday night. He had seen a sign for it but we barely knew anything about - being beer lovers we thought we would check it out. Tucked behind an office building off of 288 near Capital One headquarters. We weren't sure what to expect when walking in but were very surprised to find that the whole interior was decorated with what we thought were halloween decorations but after being there for awhile were considering that it might me their normal decor! They offer flights for 4 beers for $4 -on tap (while we were there) they had about 12 beers so quite the selection and had a little bit of everything. Were not huge IPA fans so I think we tried every beer but their IPAs and really really enjoyed quite a few of them. It's tough for breweries in the Richmond area since there are NOW so many. This is defiantely not one of my favorite breweries in Richmond but I am glad we went, I am glad we checked out the location, and would definately get one of their beers if I was out and saw that Kindred Spirit Brewing label! read more

We called ahead yesterday, asking whether they allowed dogs. After they said yes, we made the drive. Then a rude bald guy met us at the door, saying they do not accept dogs. When we explained that we had been given information contrary to that, he unapologeticly turned his back and walked away - a case study in bad customer service. We'll never go back. read more

This was a lovely spot to enjoy live music and taste microbrews. I was not sure exactly where it was as all I saw was what looked like a one story office building...you need to drive around to the back and it is to the far side of the building. Parking is good as the building has its own lot, and the beer is varied and I think with a taste for many folks. It is dark, however, this is nice on a too-hot summer day. The decor is nice with big bay windows, but it is still somewhat dark on the inside. There is a nice spot for small live bands too with good acoustics. read more

They have 10+ beers on tap, with different styles. I believe that I picked a bad one, because I did not like it at all (Berlin Weisse, it tasted like orange juice). If I go back, I would probably ask for some samples before ordering a whole pint. Last but not least, the prices for most of the beers are $6.5 or more. Good selection of a dozen or so drafts, and they'll let you sample to choose which one you want. They don't serve food, but you can bring your own or they have popcorn & pretzels to snack on. If you hit the right day, they also have food trucks. The place is loud inside, due to the high ceilings I think, so be prepared to yell. "Good" is the best word to describe this place. They've only been open about 2 years, and it does feel like this place is still figuring itself out. I will say, I only tried one of their beers (the golden lager) and it was good and refreshing, but nothing special. Perhaps some of their other beers are more unique! There's no kitchen here, but it seems that they have a foodtruck parter who is there most (maybe all) of the time. On atmosphere - I think this is where they need to work the most. The inside of this place has a lot of potential, but feels very slapped together right now. There are random blinking string lights and large paper posters on the walls. There are a bunch of board games available to play, but the actual "game room" only had foosball and a golf video game, both of which you have to pay for. The outdoor deck does have some charm to it though! I'm not sure that this will be a regular spot for me, but I would consider going back. read more

I visited this brewery yesterday afternoon. It's close to Short Pump off of Interstate 288, so it's not too far for those in the city. I stopped here first before going to Hardywood West Creek. This brewery is very close to the interstate exit, so it wasn't hard to find. They have done a great job placing signs along the road to lead to their building, which is located in the very back of an office park. It would be difficult to find without all of the signs. Once I got there I was impressed! They have built a nice, covered outdoor deck which provides a decent amount of seating. Once I stepped inside, I was astonished how large this place is! It's got several rooms. A game room on the immediate right once you enter. The main room has a large bar and ample seating for guests. They display the beers on tap on LED TVs on the wall, behind the bar, which is neat. I ordered the Headspace IPA, which is their "flagship" beer. The beer was delicious. One of the best IPAs that I've had in a while! They had TVs on behind the bar, which would make it a good place to watch a game. I didn't get a chance to hang out for long, but I definitely enjoyed my experience and will be back for more visits! read more
