This was my second time coming here - & I can't recommend it highly enough! I just wish it was closer to me in Richmond but it's always such a treat when I come out here. They have unique & rotating flavors that are delicious. In general it's a great place just to hangout too as there are a variety of games to play too. The prices are very reasonable too.

Heather and Matt were awesome! Highly knowledgable and experienced in their craft. For $37 we were able to taste about 10 different meads in so many styles! I've misunderstood mead for the longest time, usually experiencing coiling sweet notes and terrible hangovers. Matt's background in beer brewing shows in his portfolio of flavors. Rootbeer tasting mead? He's got you! Flavors rotate out every few weeks so we will definitely be back. He also hosts open mic nights and comedy nights as well so it's worth checking out their Facebook and Instagram for updates.

Funktastic is AWESOME! Matt, the owner is a super nice guy and he's very passionate about what he does and you can tell when you try his meads. He's very creative and always pushing the envelope with new flavors and cool names to match them. Everyone here is super hospitable. They have a couple of snacks available for purchase but they also offer online ordering in partnership with Tazza Kitchen two doors down, who will deliver it straight to the bar! Keep your eyes on Funktastic Meads and their upcoming events (like Trivia nights)!

iTools friend to check out Funktastic Meads because we both like honey. The mead tender helped us narrow down the flavors we liked. He gave us a couple of samples based on our flavor profile and desired sweetness. We both found ones we liked and proceeded to order our drinks. My friend from SC liked the mead so much, she got a bottle to take home. This was a unique place to bring out of town guests or to have a get together. There is seating at the bar-definitely recommend for your first time so you can ask about the meads on tap.. They have a variety of tables, chairs and sofas or loveseats and outdoor seating. There was live music and a good time was had.

You get to try all of the meads from the standard menu for a great price. They have a lot of creative flavors and concepts.

Came here to celebrate my birthday with my family and we had an amazing experience! The server went above and beyond. He explained the different options to us, answered all my questions about what contains certain ingredients due to food allergies, and even gave me a birthday pour! On top, the place is a whole vibe. It's so funky and relaxed. Felt like a cool place to hangout with some friends. We will definitely be back!

I think we tried somewhere around 20 samples by the time we were done. Joe & Melanie are fantastic hosts. And they sure have the mead making down! Their "imaginarium" bottles are awesome!! You will try some things you never thought would work and they just do! They will even do blends for you to taste. The blood orange mixed with their chocolate Noire is unbelievable. Be careful though, at 14% mead starts sneaking up on you quickly! If you love mead or don't even know what it is, you need to stop here. What a wonderful meadery!…read more With lots of great food, mead, and mixed drinks, this was the highlight of my trip through Fredericksburg! Highly recommend trying a flight, which is surprisingly filling. For their mead flavors, I really enjoyed #21, Apple/Cinnamon, which is also the house favorite. #19 Mango 5 was a close second followed by #14 Pineapple. Overall, all of them are really delicious, and would recommend the Pina Colada slushy. One can also buy bottles to take back home! For mixed drinks, recommend the Gold Mine. For food, the sweet potato fries with apple butter dip is delicious, along with the honey ham sliders. If you're here for an afternoon, check out the charcuterie board! Our server Robert was fantastic, providing great advice for what to drink. There is a nice outdoor patio, that can get busy over the weekends! It's usually not too busy with self-seating and chalk for fun designs. Be prepared for changing seasonal flavors.

It definitely affected the money I spent here and cost a star. I had never heard of mead before and knew as soon as I saw the place this would have to be a part of my Williamsburg trip. The experience was not near as wild as that of a moonshine tasting in Gatlinburg and not quite as bougie as a wine tasting in the Napa Valley. Mead tasting sits in the neutral middle. Our taste master did a phenomenal job explaining what mead is and how it is used in winemaking and it was not only an interesting new adventure it was very educational. The place is set up three fold. One area as a store, one for tasting and another "bar area". It is decorated in all bee and honeycomb themed art and gives an artisanal vibe. We walked out with some honey but not as much as I would have liked due to the attitude of the little bully.

The servers are knowledge and friendly, and their wines and meads are so unique and well made. You can do a tasting of 8 of their wines and meads for $5, which is a great option if you have never been before.
