Of all the breweries I checked out while in Richmond, this was my favorite. Biggest tap room/most tables I found, biggest actual beer selection. Octoberfest was good too - really enjoyed it. Recently I moved to the lakeside area and am really enjoy hanging out at Final Gravity Brewery (even though it took me a few times to realize it's a Brewery AND a store) and trying their beers. It's a very casual and relaxed brewery. The decor is simple and modern but I think it's bigger inside than it appears. They also have a small patio outside that is dog friendly but can get pretty crowded Thursday/Friday/Saturday nights so if you are planning on hitting that up plan to go earlier. They also do a runners club even on Thursday evenings which seems to bring a crowd - this may be seasonal as well! read more

August 2018, three out of five. We stopped here while on a tour of breweries in the city of Richmond. I had heard of them previously but hadn't tried any of their beers. All of their beers were solid but they seem to excel in the IPA Style. I don't like IPAs as much as many of the other beer drinkers in this area. If you do appreciate them this is probably a good Brewery for you. In that case I would probably say it would rank as a four out of five. But for me their other beers were good but not excellent. read more

Visited for a "brew day" where anyone could bring brew materials and brew outside with live music, oysters and beer. We didn't brew, and arrived towards the end, but everyone we met was extremely friendly! The taproom space is fairly big- they had mostly IPAs available, but it's my understanding they typically have a very large taplist with sours as well. We happened to visit on a busy weekend and since this is a fairly small production, they had run out of a bunch of beers. read more

Okay, I am not going to say this place has the best beer in RVA, because I don't feel qualified to pass such a judgment. I am just going to say that Final Gravity is my favorite! The sample beers are $2, the flavors are rich and complex, and I always leave with some beers to take home and enjoy later. Doppler Effect is one of my favs. Today I had a raspberry Berliner Weiss that was some next level brew. I like several of their beers but others are just mediocre. A lot of their IPA's just dont stand up to other breweries around but a few are perfect. If you are in Lakeside and looking for a good IPA, i recommend Venus Rising, an Imperial DIPA. Next i would suggest One Droo. Looking for a regular IPA? Doppler Effect is good. Looking for a delicious infusion? Grapefruit infused Doppler Effect is wonderful. I gave it a 4.5 on Untappd. Finally, their Iced Coffee Brown is great! Coffee notes on the nose but a smooth brown in the glass. No lingering flavors. I loved it! 4.25 on Untappd. read more

Since a lot has changed with this place, I felt an update was appropriate. The rating remains. I've tried many of Richmond's craft breweries, and this remains my favorite. Its nothing against the others, but as final gravity grows ( and it has, from 3 to 5 on tap to 15 to 20, and in space too) the quality is still the same. I am proud to say i was one of final gravity's original customers and happy to see them continued success. They love us as much as we love them. read more

Never knew this place was even here. Seen where River City Wood Fire Pizza was gonna be here for a SPCA Benefit so we went to check it out. Place is set up for the Covid Hype at the moment. They have a pretty good beer selection. We tried the Stepping Stone, Italian Pilsner, Passion Pineapple and a Irish Goodbye. Liked all but that Irish Goodbye was hittin. Beer prices good. Place has a patio, dog friendly. They let us bring in our food from River City Pizza. Nice folks serving. Noticed they sell Daddy Gs Salsa and chips. Nice little hole in the wall. Definitely will be returning to try some more if their beers. read more

Great brewery! I actually liked a majority of their beers. The prices are good. I highly recommend getting the a flight. I was not disappointed. If you do your own brewing, this is the place for you. I'm not into that, but it looks like they have every thing you need. There is plenty of seating both inside and out. I would definitely go back. read more

Spent a wonderful time at the Women's Worldcup Soccer tournament. The locale is unique for this part of town, so a nice addition to lakeside. There is no food, but a bbq shop around the corner (closed when I went) and a food truck. I had a few of the beers. I am a saison freak (always first choice). Unfortunately I found it sub-standard. To me it tasted like a Belgian white that was a little green, it didnt feel developed. Of course it was drinkable and I enjoyed as just a beer. They were running a special on their pulsar which was a nice go to beer for them. This was my second trip. Both were basically enjoyable. I looking to be up leveled by something. I know its a brewery, but I am pit off by refrig queso dip And grocery store bag of tortilla chips as the food option available when we got There at early lunch time. They had a massive Crowd for the game and they did an adequate to good job processing the line. If you are in this part of town, its a worthy stop to hang out. read more

I absolutely love the laid back atmosphere of Final Gravity, and they brew some of the best beers in Richmond. My favorite is Doppler Effect, and also love Venus Rising, both IPAs. Most of the beers here are IPAs, but I feel like Doppler Effect is a really good option for people who may not love IPAs. read more

Great little nano-brewery in Lakeside. Not much around the location so this is pretty much the spot. I enjoyed checking out their store right next to the bar area while we were having drinks. Also really enjoyed the flights of beer. Each 4oz flight is only $2 so we enjoyed that quite a bit. They have up a sign with award-winning brews and I definitely recommend #8 and #11. It's also pretty cool that you can order food from nearby restaurants and they'll deliver right to your table at the brewery. Great spot! I'll definitely be back. read more

Great place but with limited seating. Stopped by this place after a short trip to Baltimore. It's super dope because it doubles as a place in which you can purchase beer supplies for brewing. They have a large TV so it's perfect for sports games. They also have several board games as well. The beer choices are extensive and good. I only wish there was more seating because this place was hooping when we went it! read more

Visited this brewery as one of my firsts of breweries to visit during my trip in Richmond. Walked in and liked the fact that it was a brewery but also a beer supply store to get all your supplies needed for some home brew. I just loved the decor with the hops lights, spacious seating inside and outside, and the astronaut theme! I ordered 2- 4oz beers the Grapefruit IPA and the Red IPA. The guy mentioned that they had added fresh squeezed grapefruit to the batch that morning which really added a fresh and delicious taste to the beer. The staff was very nice and the beer was great. I wish I had had more time to stay and try some ore of their beers but it's a must the next time I'm in town. Highly recommend! read more

I popped in recently to sample the two award winning IPAs. "Doppler Effect" is a double IPA and was magnificent. I am an absolute IPA snob, and this may have ousted Falcon Smash as my favorite Richmond IPA. "Retrograde" is a session IPA" and was very good as well. Aside from those two, Final Gravity offers quite an array of beers. I have yet to try any except their IPAs, but I imagine that all of their beers are of great quality. This brewery started out as a home brewer supply store, and has recently expanded to the space next door to make a full tasting room. The brewery is very nicely decorated, and has plenty of games and outdoor seating to accommodate their guests. There were a ton of tables and bar seats inside the tasting room. They have TVs at the bar and an LCD TV that's sole purpose is to display what's on tap. I highly recommend making a stop to check this brewery out! read more

This is a neat place to checkout if you are in the Lakeside area. They have a pretty good list of beer selections, a large venue to seat a lot of people (or stand), and they even have a small patio out front for those warm summer days. It's an added bonus that they have TVs, so we were able to catch the VCU basketball game, while enjoying their stout. Great selection of excellent beers. Staff are always friendly and knowledgeable. I love the Saison DeMayer. Having a new beer to try every week is impressive. It's nice to also feel very at home there when the owner knows your name and is always willing to share knowledge about beer brewing. The home brew store next door is great too! read more

The beers are quite exceptional. Probably the best brewery in town from top to bottom of beer menu. Typically 7 or so beers to chose from with a bent towards hoppy styles (which suits me fine). Decent beers on tap brewed on-site in one half of the store and a complete array of home brewing supplies in the other half. Trendy table set up makes for an interesting experience. I'm not certain if they let you bring in outside food, but a great combo would be to grab a sandwich a few doors down at Virginia BBQ and enjoy it with a beer. They may have good beer, I do not know, but I live in Lakeside, very close by, and I see people inside and out without masks, and too close together, all the time since Covid19 started and I am tired of it. I went by there one night the other week and the inside was packed with very little room, and no social distancing. I saw few masks as people are drinking....duh, of course, it's a bar to drink beer! Come on Final Gravity. It's been great to have your business in Lakeside but this has got to stop. There are more and more people showing up in the neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods with Covid19, and some of them most certainly, and most probably got Covid19 from being at your establishment, whether they know it or not. Do better and be better. I am giving you a chance before I report you, as I do not want to see you shut down, but if I don't start seeing masks and distancing then I will need to report you and you will have to deal with the outcome. Mask up, distance and I want to see less people. Spread out!! Tired of being on lock down because of people who won't adhere to policy. read more
