Some of the best fried flounder I've ever had. Four of us dropped in for dinner on our way from Norfolk back home to RVA. I had coleslaw and sweet potato fries to go with my sandwich. The portions were so generous I took most of the fried flounder sandwich home and at it for two more meals! Service was good and the place was just like most other places like it. The cleanliness was real and much appreciated. read more

Went here after not coming here in a minute and needless to say I won't be back. I ordered the tacos and paid $9 for 2 tacos and no fries or drink is included. They are no à la carte. Not to mention you only get 3 pieces of shrimp on each small taco. read more

Whittling fish sandwich! It's steaming hot and I about 15 min away and still hot. Delicious and very much worth the price for a fish sandwich! I had no bones in it that a plus. read more

Wasn't thrilled with the "kiosk" ordering system (it's been a while since I was last there, but these were new to me.) Food is made to order, so not speedy service, but hot and freshly made. My interaction with a couple of the employees was pleasant. Most importantly, the food was hot and delicious, portions were good, and overall a decent value for the seafood options. Fried Okra and hushpuppies were also on point. read more

Absolutely the best value for your dollar for a fresh meal, hands down winner. The store is clean, the bathrooms are clean, the fish is cooked fresh, both deep fried or broiled. They separate the oils used for frying for maximum flavor and safety in case you have an allergy, and in all the years coming here I have never had a negative experience. There are few places I can say this about nowadays and I speak quietly with my hard earned dollars every time I eat at this location. The crew does a great job, they should be very proud of themselves and I hope both local clients and management appreciate the value of this wonderful little fast food location! I like fish and the Skrimp Shack is a restaurant I can still afford to go to and get a fresh meal nowadays. Thank you, what you provide is appreciated! read more

The food is good but every time I go something is missing or wrong with my order which gets annoying and makes it's not worth it

There's a few issues I have. The large family bundle is what I normally order, however the large bundle isn't online to order. So I call store several times and no one answered. Ended up ordering two small family bundles for $48 plus tax. The large bundle isn't $45. I arrive at store and it's 3 customers, so definitely not understanding why no one answered phone. So I ask about not being able to order the large bundle online when it's clearly on the menu in store, the young lady says to me that it's because they have no chicken tenders at the moment. That's very interesting, so you're telling me you guys keep up with the website like that or that she actually didn't answer my question. Good customer service goes a long way. I paid more for my food, inquired about my normal order and all I got was a half answer. Crazy. Good customer service should have went something I don't know maybe offer me something in place of the chicken that you guys don't have since I paid more money. Sad because I like the food but I don't take kindly to those types of interactions. I will never eat there again because of the service. What ever happened to morals and doing what's right. Because those employees know they don't have chicken so it's your responsibility to compensate. Not tell me oh well we don't have chicken order this get less food and pay more. Terrible. Have a great day read more

Skrimp shack - Finley Ave. Thursday 3/14/19 @ 12:30 noon 1st and foremost I LOVED the open space! The restaurant appeared to be clean. I also liked the way the kitchen was visible to the public. It took between 5-10 minutes to get my food. I ordered a po' Boy Crabmeat with Shrimp with fried okra and hush puppies. I didn't realize that a po'boy was a sandwich so I did away with the bread and just ate the crab meat and shrimp. Which, by the way, was pretty darn good. The hush puppies were nothing to jump up and down about. The okra was good. Pretty pleased with everything from the food, the service, and the cleanliness. Good job Skrimp Shack Would I go back? Absolutely I will! read more

The mac n cheese is freaking horrible. I couldn't figure out what was in it. I couldn't tell what type of cheese was in it though I speculate it was processed or liquid because it didn't look like it had cheese in it. And the seasoning look like it was just dumped on. Chic fila and Wawa mac n cheese taste way better with Chic fila in the running. I was so disappointed when I looked at but went against my better judgement to tasted it just in case my intents was wrong and I was highly disappointed. If the is the way y'all make Mac n Cheese then y'all need to switch up the recipe unless the majority of the customers like it that way but I will never buy it again. I truly hope I just got a bad batch. I was too tired to go back to exchange for another item but I'm sure they'll make it right when I return. I love Mac n cheese and my this almost ruined my dinner. Other than the fish is good and I would still recommend this spot. I went back today and the manager was nice and accommodating. Thank you! read more

Drove out of our way to eat here because they said "open till 7pm" definitely closed! Update your shit!

Absolutely horrible! Let's start with I called up There twice trying to see what time they would close since some places are altering their hours due to Covid. Needless to say no one every answered; therefore, I stopped by there coming from somewhere else. While I waited for my order to be taken I watched the young girl just let the phone ring. When she finally got to me I asked do they just let the phone ring. She gave some excuse she only has been working there a week and don't want to overwhelm herself. So after that she took my order: flounder sandwich with greens and macaroni and cheese with a small side of hush puppies (4 although she said 5) because I wanted to know how they tasted too. I placed my order at 7:19p and I received it at 7:57p, I waited 38 minutes. Yes, it was a good amount of people there but they need to figure out a better system to get the food out quicker. Well I started with a hush puppy, it was greasy and tasteless. So I put them back them back in the bag and didn't eat them a waste of my .99. I then ate the Mac and cheese which was good. On to the greens after one bite I put them in the bag a waste of 2.00, they were nasty! The fish sandwich was huge so they get points for that, but it had no seasoning. I used tartar sauce and ketchup to try to make it better and it was not. I honestly don't know why this place stay packed , maybe I ordered the wrong things. However, it won't be a second time for me! They too need to learn to answer the phone, I should've taken it as a sign and just should not have gone. read more

Much better on my second visit. Now that II know they have scallops, I'll be coming back for more. Scallops are not on the printed menu, but they are on the chalkboard. Gimme. Half pound or one pound? Half pound today; if they're as good as they should be, I'll order by the pound in the future. And some hushpuppies. Five or ten? Ten. Five was good last time; ten should be better this time. Also a small cup of New England Clam Chowder. My order came up in 10 minutes, and 30 minutes after that I was at home checking out my Scallops. Included in the clamshell was a packet of Cocktail Sauce. I set that aside and used my own tartar sauce. The Scallops were oddly shaped... perhaps they were scallop pieces? (see my photos.) I dunno, but they were excellent, as good as they should be, so I'll be repeating the Scallops. After removing the Cocktail Sauce, I weighed the clamshell, it was a solid 9.2 ounces. Next I ate the New England Clam Chowder. Good, but not earth shattering. I enjoyed every bite. And hushpuppies. Very good, the perfect vehicle for butter. Ten was a bit much for me, so next time I'll restrain myself and have only five. I'll be back. read more

Was in Richmond for work, always like to try new places. Business is steady but the service is quick. Everything is packaged for takeout but they have a large seating area that is super clean. I ordered the 12 count Skrimp basket (comes with a medium drink and a side) with collard greens. Added to my revisit list. Delicious! read more

The Skrimp Shack is like a seafood and soul food spot all wrapped up in one. The two things I love the most. It was only right that I gave this place a try. I walked in and stood in line to place my order and the girl at the register was very friendly and professional. The menu was clear and the prices were amazing. I didn't even spend $10 on my food. I love when I'm trying a new place and it's not overly expensive just in case it's not all I hoped for. Everything was clean and kept up nice considering the large crowd of people. I ordered the catfish nuggets and green beans. The pictures looked amazing the catfish was fried a golden brown color and the green beans looked like something similar to home cooking in most households. Catfish Nuggets- they where piping hot so you know it was cooked to order. Lightly seasoned. I would have liked to have tasted some salt in the batter personally but if that's not your thing these are perfect for you. I had no problem eating every last one of them. Green Beans- they were sweet and spicy. Not what I am normally used to but it was a neat twist to them. I know this approach is common, I personally am just not used to it. They were good though and had a good flavor. Overall I enjoyed my experience and plan to try other items on their menu. Although what I was expecting flavor wise was different than what I got the customer service won me over so I was able to keep a positive outlook on the food. I wanted to describe the flavors of each so that others could know what they would be getting when they order since I know some people will like this style of cooking over others. read more

This is my first time trying this place. Me and my co-workers wanted shrimp, so we ordered from this place. After selecting everything we wanted (for delivery) it said the shrimp is unavailable. How are you called Skrimp shack but don't have any shrimp? I ended up ordering the catfish dinner with fries. The fish had no flavor at all, and the fries weren't cooked all the way. The fries were soagy and soft. I definitely probably wouldn't order from here again. read more

I am pescatarian so I am super excited to see a seafood fast food spot! (I just wish it were closer to my house!) I had high hopes for this place and they delivered. I found the location (never knew there was an original location in Mechanicsville either) Parkings not a problem because its located in a strip of stores. I walked in around 2pm, no line, a few were waiting but service was quick. The food: I chose a whiting basket with one side mac n cheese. (Includes a drink) for $7.17. Not bad at all. My fish was cooked and seasoned the way I like it. The mac n cheese was okay.. it left a lot to be desired. I was hoping for a more southern style mac but this was more like noodles with melted cheese. It still tasted good, Im a cheese-aholic so anything tasting like cheese will get a pass. My sweet tea was on point too. Overall..this was a win for my pescatarian lifestyle. I will be back. read more

In the mood for fish again so I stopped by Skrimp Shack on a rainy Saturday evening. It was a bit crowded but the line moved fast. Service was outstanding again. The young lady behind the register was so nice even through she should have clocked out. The to go fish sandwich came out hot along with the Mac n cheese. I ordered a side of hush puppies for .99 cents. What a deal and they were gone before I got home. I enjoyed the fish sandwich and Skrimp Shack did not let me down. read more

For a quick inexpensive seafood meal, I really enjoy the fried catfish, sweet potato fries!

True story. I have to give my dad credit again. He found this place and told me that I had to give it a try when I was in town. He was right. This place was worth a visit. This review is going to be short and sweet. Skrimp Shack is nothing fancy. But it's good food, cooked fresh to order. And I can get down with that. I ordered the shrimp basket with french fries. The shrimp are a good size, well seasoned and delicious. Not to mention that the portions here are great for the price. That's it. Go here. You're welcome. read more

Decided to pop in today and check it out. Ordered 3 Skrimp Baskets. 2 with fries for the kids and one with collards for myself. The shrimp was very well seasoned and breaded and fried perfectly. The collards were extremely salty. I mean salty to the point they were inedible. The salt was too much. I'll order this again, but will definitely try a different side. Had high hopes for this place. Meh. It was ok. Ordered the whiting basket, shrimp basket, chicken sandwich, cole slaw, and fries. The whiting was a bit strong, which was a turnoff. The shrimp were good. The chicken sandwich was good, but it was just a couple of very thin chicken pieces on a bun with some honey mustard like sauce. I don't know, from the menu description I was expecting something amazing. It wasn't. I don't think I'm a fan of the breading they use for everything. Not a place I'd go back to. read more

Good food, quick service and the price is good compare to fast food places. I just didn't like the sauce - or the Mac n cheese

I rated a two because they're shrimp poboy is pathetic. It's literally only shrimp and bread. The shrimp does taste great and the bread is warm and soft but it is lacking ingredients. No lettuce, tomato? Overpriced as well. read more

I have been to shrimp shack before at Mechanicsville. It was alright. I ordered the shrimp po boy sandwich. I called the west end location for fried oysters. I was late and cashier was nice to say they can fix another one. I opened it and what I saw was overcooked ( very dark color) and over breaded oysters I was tired and didn't want to wait. Took it home and when I ate it, I ate maybe all bread and a little portion of oysters. If it was 1 inch long, there was pencil erasers size of meat, if even. The point is: Don't order the oysters read more

This place was off the hook, and I mean it. All you southerners who love some good fried fish and shrimp. Get at it! Can't wait to try it again on my next travel thru the area. Some of the best fried shrimp you will ever ever ever have. And fantastic southern sweet tea to boot. read more

I ordered the shrimp basket and also ordered fried clams. Shrimps were ok they gave me a sprinkle of fries.
