For the most part the food is consistent. I try to visit on non peak hours during promotions. The service is hit or miss. The least favorite part of my experiences have been the food runners. Subject: Formal Complaint - Poor Service Experience at Red Lobster Monroeville on September 19 Dear Red Lobster Corporate Team, I am writing to express my deep disappointment regarding the terrible service my family and I received at your Monroeville location on September 19, 2025. I chose Red Lobster to celebrate my daughter's 16th birthday, but the experience was extremely upsetting from start to finish. When we arrived for our 7:30 PM reservation for eight people, the host claimed it was scheduled for 7:15 PM and tried to seat us at two mismatched tables in the middle of the floor. I asked if we could be seated in one of the nearby empty booths, but the host refused. Only after I spoke with a manager did she agree to clean two booths and seat us there. After we were seated, it took about 5-8 minutes for the server to take our drink order. When the drinks were brought, she immediately asked if we were ready to order, and we proceeded to do so. I inquired about the single crab leg portion and was told it came with two claws for $15.99, so I ordered that for my 4-year-old. From that point, the service continued to decline. The server did not bring silverware or offer drink refills. When my daughter politely asked about the food, the server responded, "I don't know, I don't work in the kitchen," which was very rude and unprofessional. Once the food arrived, those who ordered crab legs did not receive crackers. I had to ask three times before we were finally given one cracker to share among three meals. When I asked to speak with the manager, he came over with his arms crossed and a dismissive attitude. He seemed uninterested in hearing my concerns and made no effort to make the situation right. The only item he removed from our $100 bill was my salad -- which felt completely inadequate considering the poor service from the host, server, and management. This was supposed to be a special night for my daughter, but instead it turned into a very disappointing and embarrassing experience in front of our family and friends. I submitted an online review after the visit, but never received any response. I have always enjoyed dining at Red Lobster, and this experience was truly shocking compared to the level of service I've come to expect. I would appreciate a response from management regarding this incident and hope that appropriate action is taken to ensure no other family has a similar experience. I feel like the cheddar bay biscuits aren't like they used to be. Decided to step out and try something new...The chicken in the thai noodle dish was not seasoned and the sauce a little too sweet. Drove about a half hour from home just to go to Red Lobster, and was not disappointed. We were seated immediately and our waitress was very welcoming. I ended up getting the Lobster Flatbread and the Sunset Passion Colada. The drink was excellent, and the flatbread was pretty good. The actual lobster on my flatbread was a tad overdone, but it didn't ruin the dish. My only complaint is that the drinks menu didn't list prices, but that is a corporate level problem. read more

When I was a kid, this was my absolute favorite place to eat. It's been so long that I had no clue what to expect, but I think I had low expectations. Overall, it was an ok experience. We tried the stuffed mushrooms and crab-stuffed shrimp rangoons. The mushrooms were pretty basic and fine for what they were. They were pretty salty in general, and the cheese and butter used were salty so we didn't taste much else. The shrimp rangoons were also ok. We didn't taste a whole lot of the stuffing as there was a lot of the coating on the shrimp. We did enjoy the dipping sauce as it had a touch of heat to it. They weren't bad, but I'd probably go with another app the next time around like the lobster pizza. The biggest issue I had is that one of the shrimp wasn't deveined and that's an immediate turn off. I realize that items like this are likely just shipped to the restaurant already prepped so I'm going to try and avoid holding that against this location. I think misses like that tend to happen often with huge chains. The salad and biscuits tasted exactly like they always have. If you liked them 30 years ago, you'll like them today. For me, that alone made it worth the trip. I had the fish and chips for my meal and it was a mixed bag. I really liked the fries and I enjoyed some of the fish, but a nice portion of the fish was almost like jerky with how tough it was. The only thing I really didn't care for here was the coleslaw. It came out really dry and flavorless. The highlight came from me getting to try some other items like shrimp and crab. I expected the shrimp to be rubbery and over cooked, but it was cooked nicely. The crab I tried was cooked well and was sweet and tender. Lastly, the service wasn't great. Even though it was lunch time, the place was very slow. We weren't checked on much, and when we were, our server looked pained to wait on us. I certainly know bad days happen and I'm hoping that's all it was. Only came here again because I had a gift card for Red Lobster. It was better than the first time, but not by much. Red Lobster won't get a third shot. The food wasn't bad. It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad. It was hot and the kiddo really liked her sirloin steak. But it was the service that made it an unpleasant visit. The server didn't seem to remember anything I'd ordered. I ordered a side salad with ranch on the side because I don't like a lot of dressing. What I got was a salad swimming in ranch. When the server was going to take the salad, she asked if I was done with it (because it was nearly uneaten), I told her that I didn't like so much dressing on my salad, which was why I ordered it on the side. She just smiled and took the bowl away. I had also ordered the smaller lunch-sized portion of Walt's shrimp but got the full-sized serving. I couldn't eat it all and left four shrimps on the plate. I hate wasting food! But what's worse is that she charged me for the regular meal, not the lunch portion, then argued with me when I pointed that out to her! She took the check and said she'd see if she could fix it. She came back with the check and said the manager took my meal off of it. Leading with the precursor that the restaurant is clearly a victim of understaffing. Long wait at the lunch hour but lots of empty tables. No portion of the food was hot including the biscuits. Waitress was friendly but being overwhelmed meant no refills, a need to remind about a drink I ordered, and general lack of follow through, no ask about new biscuits, dessert etc. The lettuce in one of our side salads was brown. The food quality seemed normal and a plus, the lunch portions were strong. The meal has a succulent roasted rock lobster, butter poached Maine lobster tail, lobster and shrimp linguine Alfredo & 2 sides!! I got a potato with butter & sour cream on the side & a salad!! Then, there is the walt's shrimp added on!! Both lobsters where perfectly cooked!! The linguine was not lacking shrimp but could of had more lobster!! Walt's shrimp was crispy & good! Gave this a second try and was very pleased at how different the 2nd visit was. We didn't dine in, though. I ordered the chicken tenders party platter and the Family-Style Create Your Own Feast with oven-broiled whitefish, shrimp Linguini Alfredo, and the Parrot Bay coconut shrimp. Sides were rice, baked potatoes, and a garden salad. Be wary of what it says you'll get, though. I ordered the baked potatoes, but only got three. Not four like it says. Also was disappointed that the coconut shrimp came with some kind of weird pineapple sauce & not shrimp cocktail sauce. I didn't buy any cocktail sauce, so that was a little stressful. People were asking if I had any. Nobody even wanted to try that pineapple sauce. Can't say as I blamed, them, though. I didn't try it, either. I imagine that after Joe's Crab Shack that Red Lobster would have stepped up their game but I unfortunately imagined wrong. The biscuits are still memorable, the staff are friendly and efficient but the mediocre seafood doesn't make up for it. I'd save my money unless you're starving as my most recent experience had the greatest wait staff but my plate was hotter than the food allowing me to believe it sat for a while. The scampi was oily, potatoes were cold and I can't fathom how any of this is good food. With so many options in Pittsburgh these guys have to step up their game. Upon finding the shrimp linguine missing from my seafood trio I was told that they could do nothing for me as I used a delivery service. Upon trying to get a refund from uber eats I was informed my order didn't qualify for a refund. The restaurant wouldn't even replace my missing item. We were there on Sunday, the Cheddar Bay Biscuits were not all that great and it tasted very funny. Also, the soups were not all that great either, one was too salty and the other one did not have enough seasoning. The Chicken Tenders I had were cooked to perfection, so I will give them that. My salad had way to many bitter pieces in it to even try and get a good bite. We got lobsteritas and they were delicious. My lobster tail wasn't served with my dinner. It didn't come until 10 minutes after the rest of my meal, so I didn't get to eat it with the rest of my food. This has happened previously to me at this same location, so it was upsetting. My girlfriend's lobster tail was really puny (4"?) and overcooked, so it was sent back. The replacement (#2) had some strange seasoning added, which isn't made clear anywhere in the menu or by the service staff. We've had lobster tails here before, and they didn't have any seasonings. My girlfriend had initially ordered "a lot of extra sour cream" for her baked potato, when we had placed the original dinner order. It came with just a real small amount. My girlfriend again asked for "a lot more", and the waitress only brought one more small container. My girlfriend told her that it still wasn't enough. The waitress then disappeared, reappeared empty handed, then was seen with someone else's food. The waitress didn't have any more sour cream on her tray. With that, I asked another waiter to have the manager come over. The manager was pleasant and seemed genuinely interested in helping the situation, and asked if my girlfriend wanted a third tail. She said yes. The waitress then brought the next table's dinners, and asked them if there was anything else that they wanted. They said no, and the waitress started to walk away. I got rather perturbed, and then told the waitress that there was something else that WE wanted. She seemed dumbfounded, like she totally forgot we'd been asking for more sour cream, several times. We reminded her, and she then brought 3 more small containers, which finally settled the sour cream issue. Our waitress then started waiting on a table of 15 that had just arrived. I asked her if she could first get us the third lobster tail while it was hot, along with a takeout container, a plastic bag, and our check. She spoke to a coworker, and few minutes later, the manager brought the lobster tail, takeout boxes, bag and the check. We paid, still left a 20%+ tip (The waitress could have done a LOT better job, but the kitchen screw up wasn't her fault, and their wages are generally poor), and we left, most likely never to return. read more

I went with my in-laws and wife for lunch, and was glad to see that they have a lunch menu that's available every day. Most places only allow the lunch menu on weekdays, so it's nice that theirs is good on weekends too. The biscuits there are always a favorite, so points for that! Super oily, so I try not to eat too many, but they taste really good. The meal part was not as great. My wife ordered shrimp tacos, which tasted fine. I ordered broiled flounder in an attempt to eat something healthy, but it was really quite flavorless. Let's just say 3.5 for what you can expect based on the formula/chain nature of this restaurant. Not bad not bad. On the weekends you can plan to wait a good while to be seated. This restaurant is enduring and because of the big demand for decent seafood restaurants, of which there are really so few in this area and really most places not on the coasts. I enjoy starting with some of their cheddar bay biscuits, stuffed mushrooms and clam chowder. What could be better than that. Oh my goodness. Who needs more to eat, but I do. Oh did I say they have a fair wine list and some decent mixed drinks and martinis too. When we order a whole Lobster, the servers are very obliging and will do the job of breaking it all apart for you. Main course I am a Salmon lover if I don't get one of the great combo platters. IN the platter world I am attracted to their shrimp dishes. Red Lobster has remade themselves many times over and have endured for so many years when so many others have failed and closed. Went to RL in Monroeville today w my daughter and grandson as its my daughters bday & she is a healthy runner, vitamin junkie, lol etc., but would die for the stuffed mushroom caps so thats exactly what she ate and some of mine! Of course it's no surprise, Red Lobster isn't the best seafood place around but it's generally consistent and the food isn't bad. And who doesn't love the cheddar bay biscuits. (I've tried making them at home from the kits and they're just okay. Meh.) My husband and I have found ourselves at this location 4 or 5 times due to receiving gift cards. I think the restaurant's set up is one of the nicer ones - with a larger bar area and a few "rooms" with mostly booths. We have always had a decent meal and friendly service. (Although, I have noticed that prices have gone up a bit.) My two biggest issues are, one, the parking area, which is somewhat chaotic and difficult to get in and out of. The second is the wait time. I'm rather impatient to begin with and generally do not care to wait to eat. I prefer to go earlier or later than lunchtime / dinnertime to avoid crowds and waiting. However, it seems no matter what time we've gone, we have had to wait an abnormally long amount of time. Went on a Monday at 7:45pm....had to wait. Went on a Wednesday afternoon at 3pm-ish...had to wait. It seems like the times we have had to wait, the wait time simply didn't need to be as long as it was. I have seen plenty of tables un-bused just dying to be cleaned and 2 or 3 hostesses sort of standing around. I hadn't been to a Red Lobster in years so when I was given a gift card I decided to take my girls and see what was new. When we went the Shrimp Festival was going on so that made it even better. We started off with Boston Peach Ice Teas as it came highly recommended by our waitress Bethany G. Man were they good! I love peaches and iced tea so it was a win win! My wife had a Tossed Salad and a bowl of the Clam Chowder. Our daughter have the Brown Butter Scampi, Coconut Shrimp and Lobster Mashed Potatoes and I had a bowl of the Lobster Bisque Soap and the Lobster Tacos. All of our food was delicious and defiantly made me want to come back more often.
