I ate many times at Red Lobster in California, along the coast, & enjoyed my meals there, so about a year ago decided to try the Red Lobster in W. Edmonton. It was possibly one of the worst meals I have ever had. The waiter was rude; arrogant & neglectful in his work. The meal (expensive mixed seafood platters) was obviously NOT fresh. Parts of the meal seemed to have been already prepared, and either frozen or refrigerated, & then microwaved, some things kept in a warmer. The shellfish was rubbery & tasteless. Much of the meal was warm outside and very cold inside. BUT, I did enjoy the cheese biscuits....sadly, though, most of my meal I left behind, as it was inedible, so at least the biscuits provided some calories. I was there with a friend, who was equally disappointed. It was a Sunday, so perhaps the freshness was compromised due to the day we chose to visit, as well as the fact that Edmonton is not known for it's seafood (steak,, maybe, but lobster & crab & scallops? ...obviously not local so maybe supply issues come into play.) I write this review now only as my recollections of this Red Lobster experience caused me to hesitate going with friends to the nearby Olive Garden, since they are owned by the same company. (I did go to the Olive Garden, however, and it was good, except for the SHRIMP in the appetizer, which I could not eat....) I lived most of my life near oceans & enjoy FRESH seafood. However now I believe that I need to choose my restaurants according to where they are in relation to their supply of fresh ingredients.....eat tropical fruit salads in the tropics, and lamb in New Zealand. Avoid lobster platters in the mid-prairies/far north of Canada, and possibly look for the steak-house specials instead! read more

We went here tonight to fix a craving that my pregnant wife had, and it failed miserably. We sat here for 1 hour 15 mins and never received our main course. People that walked in 30 mins behind us had there food before us. But they complained for not receiving their appetizers or salad. We were told a couple more minutes several times and enough was enough we had to walk out and find something to eat because we were starving. No one was to concerned to tell us what was going on. Where to start. There are other spices besides SALT. Well the Ceasar salad croutons and parmesan cheese were so salty. The biscuits took a long time to come and were salty. Ordered the Harbour bake which was a mix of seafood over linguini with a white wine sauce. Well, first they must of mixed the up the oil with the white wine sause as there was no wine sause on this dish but there was plenty of oil on everything. The mussels were so over cooked some of them were dry and crispy. The waitress did not come back to ask how the meal was and even when removing almost a full plate of pasta with seafood still on it did not ask if everything was ok. Then after reminding her twice about the bill she did not ask how our meal was then. Then we come to the bathroom. The stalls were all dirty with stuff on the floors, dirty toilets and the sink was so disgusting I felt using it would make my hands dirtier. So in all my life I've never once been to a red lobster - even though I LOVE seafood. For some reason it just didn't appeal to me and I've never heard amazing things. But on a whim my husband and I decided last week what the hell we'll give it a try. It was around 9 pm and they close at 10 so we asked if it was still ok and they said "yes" however they let us know they were out of the full love lobster, salmon and all the fresh fish except tilapia. We decided that was fine and proceeded to order mussels for an app and then two meals that consisted of breaded shrimp, coconut shrimp, cheesy mash potatoes, asparagus, lobster tail and a fish that was stuffed with rice cheese and broccoli. The mussels were pretty good, I liked the broth and the garlic bread that we dipped in it. There were 5 closed mussels though and I thought it very odd that those made it on the plate. I mean I know you can sometimes eat closed mussels (mixed opinions) if you get them open and discover they are well cooked and smell fine but who wants to risk that? Plus exactly how were we supposed to pry them? When you order mussels you expect the work to already be done. The breaded shrimp reminded me of something you get from your freezer, same with the coconut shrimp. The cheesy mash was actually really good. The fish (I can't remember the type) stuffed with rice, cheese and broccoli was terrible. I tried three bites to see if maybe it would get better and no, it was not good at all whatsoever. My favourite part of the meal was actually the biscuits. Omg if I could've just had a meal of those I would've been pleased as punch! They are super delicious!! Delicious enough to gain weight for! Now the service. Our waitress was actually fantastic. If you've ever seen the movie Fargo she talked and had an accent EXACTLY like Marge from Fargo and I seriously loved it so much. She was friendly and fast in the exact very straight forward way that Madge it too. It was honestly almost - almost worth the mediocre food to have her as a waitress. Even though the food here is WAY over priced for the quality we still tipped her 25% because she was awesome and should know that. At the end of our meal - around 9:45 one of the employees started cleaning duties. Now I get they close at 10 and want to be out quick but it was so weird because he actually dumped an entire bucket of mop water on the tiled floor next to us. This water proceeded to gush in all directions seeping into the carpet beside us. He the started to mop and squeegee the floor as though his entire life depended on it. It was so odd and kinda gross. Then along comes and girl with her carpet sweeper cleaning next to us. I mean it's great to see they keep a clean space but I feel like if your sign says you're open until 10, be open until 10. Nothing kills dinner like the smell of mop water, old wet carpet and agitated aggressive "get the eff out" cleaners. All in all I can't ever imagine returning, the food was just not at the quality it should be for the prices their charging. It actually feels like robbery. There are quite a few spectacular seafood places in the city that are also not cheap but its completely justifiable because of their amazing flavour, quality and freshness. read more

When we did order, he brought us Cesar salad but, we didn't have any forks. Red Lobster is back giving away their biscuits. When we went in June we were told you had to buy them. Tonight it's all you can eat shrimp and the biscuits were free.....coincidence, probably not. Food was good. Although I find their shrimp always done well. The Lobster not so much. Always over cooked and rubbery I'd go elsewhere for Lobster. The all you can eat can't be beat though. You can only order one extra at a time though so that's a bit cheap and one person at our table had to cancel his order because she was bringing dessert to the table. Honestly who wants their dessert then another bowl of shrimp? Well I'm sure someone out there thinks it's great but we were less than impressed. I ate here once over a year ago so maybe things have changed since then but when I did go it was terrible. I love seafood and was excited to try Red Lobster for the first time but was sadly disappointed. Our server took quite a while to take our drink orders and when she finally did bring them she actually reached out and grabbed the slighty rotten looking lemon wedge on the rim of my glass of iced tea right in front of me to get rid of it. I ordered scallops which are by far my favorite type of seafood. They were puny overcooked things. My boyfriend ordered coconut shrimp that had so much deep-fried batter on them you could barely taste the shrimp and they had no coconut flavor either. I will never eat here again. read more

I am shocked at how poorly the company plates their food. This isn't a fast food joint, there are no side plate decorations, plating isn't there, even their dishes are way too big for the orders. I was working in the food industry while studying and this is truly appalling. We went to celebrate my birthday and I was SO disappointed, I'm never going back. Judging on the reviews, I guess we caught them on a good night. Our server was excellent, very prompt with drinks, salads, the appetizer and the main. Also brought out to-go containers quickly and the bill. It started off with a wait, which we were expecting. They stated 15 minutes for a table for two, which seemed pretty acurate. Drinks were delicious. I tried the triple berry sangria and the Mr. had a raspberry frozen margherita which he sure enjoyed. Biscuits were promptly dropped off, before the drinks I think too! Caesar salads came out in the blink of an eye, they must be prepared ahead of time. Mushroom caps were the appetizer, we've had better, but they were still pretty good. I stocked up on the coconut shrimp and hubby tried a shrimp & crab pasta dish that he really enjoyed. We had some gift cards from Christmas...so it was pretty well priced. I don't know if I would normally pay the $75 plus tax & tip, but I would say we had a better experience here today than the other reviewers. read more

This is usually my go to red lobster in the city, we usually get great service, amazing food but they have hired some very unprofessional staff, my friend ordered a raspberry lemonade and when it was brought to the table we noticed it wasn't right as we frequent this restaurant chain, so we brought it to the servers attention and she told us they changed the lemonade and this was what it was now so we gave her the benefit of the doubt and went to drink it and noticed it was strawberry and it was more like a smoothie, so we waited for the server who took quite some time before she came back to check on us, mind you we still have not ordered food and 10-20 mins have passed since we were seated. So she finally comes back and we tell her it was strawberry and it wasn't a lemonade but a smoothie and she looks at us and says "ya i know, we don't have lemonade here" so we were a little appalled at the fact she lied to us just before when we asked, so we said that we didn't want the strawberry smoothie, that if she didn't offer lemonade (which we know they do) she should have just said that and we would have ordered something else and than she got mad at us for not wanting the smoothie so we asked for a manager, which just made her more mad telling us that we must just need to hear the same thing from 2 people in which her manager says they have the lemonade so we finally get it, all is fine. We get are good which was good minus a lack of sauce. We eat, chill at the table for a bit before asking for the bill, she brings us the bill and we notice the smoothie was on the ticket so we mention that we never drank or wanted the smoothie so we were not going to pay for it, which she looks us in the eyes and says well if you wanted to eat for free you should have come here. Completely ruined my impression of this business, might go back but will never deal with this waitress again read more

Good crab legs. Both times I've had lobster here they were either drastically over cooked or nowhere near fresh (you shouldn't have to gnaw through your lobster tail). I'd say Red Lobster is kinda like the Denny's of seafood restaurants except... expensive. read more

Red lobster continues to be a great value, considering how much one pays at other places for meals that consist of relatively cheaper ingredients, say, like pasta, whereas here you get seafood that is tasty and better for your health. I recently tried a couple of the appetizers and I really liked the shrimp over lettuce. I also liked the chicken. However the service has gotten excruciatingly slow. I was kept waiting and waiting to see my server so as to ask for everything from water to more food. My server said he was preparing the salad. Why don't they let the chefs do that so that the servers can be more available? read more

This restaurant is popular and consequently extremely busy. If you don't mind waiting for your table for about 40 minutes, you can have a reasonable meal. Have been there twice and both times we were all okay with our meals, although because it's so busy the wait-staff don't get around to your table very often. I have eaten at Red Lobster in other places (Florida) and found the portions to be twice the size, better presented, and much cheaper. read more

Too busy. Lineups too long.place felt grimy .The capped mushroom appetizers were great but the salad was warm and wilted. Crab cakes were tasty but you could tell they had been on the warming tray too long. waitress kept calling my partner "SWEETIE" all night. That was as offensive as if I called her a good little nig&*$. She forget to bring my wife's salad dressing and didn't ask her if she wanted a coffee refill. So if you want so-so food in a dirty restaurant and have yourself patronized and ignored because the staff thinks you are old then this is the place for you. Never again for me. read more

Great service...had to go to Red Lobster especially during Crabfest as there are no Red Lobsters in British Columbia. We had to wait a bit for our food and we went early so as to avoid the rush. I called ahead to make a reservation for 6 for a family birthday supper. They said they do not take reservations. So when we arrived at 6:30 on a Saturday night we were informed of a 1 hour wait. We periodically checked with the host to see how much longer. After just over an hour wait we were told we would be the next large table. Then they seated a table of 8 who arrived after us. When confronted, the manager said the table of 8 called ahead. Although we had an excellent server who did his best to salvage the evening, I will never, ever come here again! read more

There is something about Mary!! 5 stars for how one server, Mary saved our evening out on Wednesday. Our party of four came in and was seated at a booth. It would have been tight as our gents were wide shouldered muscular men. We asked for a bigger table. The restaurant was sprinkled but not packed and it was about 8:00 pm. The young server said no, the section with the bigger table was closed but it wasn't. We persisted politely but young girl said hard no. We were going to go some place with more room....Mary overhears, recognizes us as frequent guests and accommodates with the bigger table. Mary has been at that restaurant for 27 years . Mary knows how to make things right. The meal was wonderful. The coffee fresh hot and delish. Mary read my body language that I was annoyed at having to almost beg for a bigger table and offered the fresh brew right away. Some younger staff could learn from Mary. Mary got the tip from our table. Thank you Mary. We will now ask for Mary's section because she gets customer service. You rock Mary!!! read more

Very disappointed, haven't been here for years but my sisters and I decided to come back since it was my one sisters birthday and we had fond memories here, well I wish we went somewhere else. Before we even ordered our drinks the server plopped down a basket of biscuits that weren't even warm and didn't taste fresh, our shrimp ceasers to drink were bland and had no shrimp, we had the ultimate feast that use to be served with warm butter, we had a ramekin full of the saltiest butter that added to our very overly salted meal, even the starter ceaser salad had too much salt and I am a salt lover! The mashed potatoes tasted like they were instant potatoes, and the whole meal just was not as good as I remember it being. Service was not good as well, the restaurant was not even busy and we were left sitting with our dirty plates in front of us and waiting forever for the bill, I was really unimpressed with my whole experience here and my sisters and I will not be back, there are other restaurants in our city with fresher food and better service read more

Not being that into seafood I never thought I'd step into a red lobster but went along for my bf as he was excited for lobster feast. Started out fine walked on lots of room only had to wait 20 minutes. Got our drinks pretty quick which we both hated. I had sangria he had Long Island. My second one tried I think was Bahama mama not bad nothing special pretty sweet. Our starter salads were rather bland to me he liked. He also liked his mushroom starter. Went downhill from there. I had the parm crusted alfredo chicken. Let's just say I could have rung the water out of the broccoli, the sauce was disgusting, the noodles and chicken were gummy and the parm crust tasted burnt. As for bf lobster he liked pasta but said the lobster was overdone and was like chewing on rubber and that everything was cold. Service was ridiculous we seen waitress in beginning after that it was always the food server or someone else. It took us 20 minutes just to order a water. In end I had to not eat anymore of mine because I started to feel sick. Needless to say it was taken off our bill. Same as couple across from us their lobster meals were disgusting but they were a lovely older couple and said they'd be back but they were going home to have some soup lol to cute. Honestly I wouldn't go back. I've never gone out and had a meal so bad. That and seeing a waitress clean tables by using a dry napkin and setting it up for the next people was rather gross. The older couple had been watching too and voiced that wasn't sanitary they'd watched her do it to a couple of tables before we arrived. As well as us getting our meal as the same time as the couple across from us when they'd been done their salad before we even got there. When my bf got his mushroom he was given a huge fork because they'd ran out of spoons, the couple had to share a knife because she wasn't given one for her lobster. Also because we never seen our waitress after we got there we weren't offered more buns and never got any butter. I should add we made sure we got to restaurant around 4 for we could try avoid rush. We we're seated in a cramped area and ignored. After about 20 minutes we we're able to get someones attention and ordered drinks. My first choice was not available and the beer selection was poor so I settled for water. My spouses first choice was also unavailable and she settled for a fountain drink. We ordered the Endless shrimp at the same time as our drinks. We were in the restaurant an hour before the food order arrived. We were pushed to order our next shrimp selections immediately to reduce waiting time. The shrimp were relatively tastless and the side order undercooked and tastless. With the exception of the server who delivered the second shrimp selections, the service was unfriendly, slow, and erratic. The quality of the food and service has deteriorated over the years. This used to be an adequate restaurant, but I doubt that we will return. read more

Just got back. Been waiting to try Red Lobster again,wondering if the quality had changed in the past 15 years. Servant was very nice. Food looks scrumptious on the menu. Too much salt, too much butter. Butter in the rice, butter on the beans, butter on the lobster tail, butter on the skewered shrimp,butter on the scampi and let's not forget, garlic butter on the side! Blaah! nauseating. The shrimp is overcooked and small, the lobster tail is small, the scampi too large, They shop in Costco's freezer for their seafood. Not impressed. I have never really gone here and can't say I would go back, waiting for an hour for food while waiting for an hour prior just to be seated. The steak was luke warm and undercooked. Fries not fully cooked. The Cesar salad was good though. My girlfriend had shrimp and lobster with mashed potatoes. Lobster was the only good part for her. The shrimp was cold had a very unappealing appearance and poor taste, equivalent to microwaving them. No idea what the hell the mashed potatoes were about. Seems that and everything else was saturated with butter. In my opinion the cost of the food greatly outweighed the quality. Don't understand why there are lines out the door. read more

I was very disappointed in the Seafood Feast Trio Platter for the $30 cost. To start, the ceasar salad had four croutons and Romaine lettuce with very little dressing on a couple of leaves. The Stuffed Mushroom appetizer came with extra protein on the dirty spoon. How can a server put a spoon on the plate that had such a large piece of crap on it. I waited until it was cold before a new clean spoon was delivered. One of the crab portions was so small I wonder if it is legal to catch something so small. I could only get enough crab out of the biggest portion of the leg and left the rest because it wasn't worth the effort to scrape out the little morsels in the soft shell of two sections of the leg. The corn on the cob was soggy and cold. Perhaps if I had ordered alcohol, the service would have been better. I doubt whether I will ever go back. There are so many seafood restaurants that serve better portions of quality seafood...and to think I waited 30 minutes to get it. read more

We took my sister in law out for her birthday. The service was bearly adequate. We had to ask for buns then the butter. The service was slow once we ordered. The food was ok, nothing too spectacular. My guy and I were the only ones to order dessert. When the waitress realized it was a birthday, she proceeded to give my guys cheesecake to his sister and sing happy birthday. Most restaurants supply the cake. We were taken by surprise and it felt a little awkward, It felt cheap on their part, because it was not a cheap meal. read more

Red Lobster may be one of the busiest restaurants in Edmonton. During all seasons and at any time of day the place is packed. During two visits to Red Lobster, my dining companions and myself had to wait ridiculously long time to be seated, and then we had to wait some more for our food to arrive. And the food wasn't all that. Everything on the menu sounds mouthwatering but in reality it is nothing to write home about. On two occasions I have had shrimp linguini Alfredo and rock lobster tail. Neither shrimp nor lobster impressed me. For my linguini Alfredo I was expecting to get large and fresh shrimp that would be the star of the show, but in reality the shrimp were small, overcooked, and rubbery, and smothered in Alfredo sauce the main purpose of which was to cover up the poor quality of the shrimp. Lobster tail, on the other hand, was undercooked. There were raw patches inside, which neither butter nor garlic could disguise. And overall, the food tasted rather bland. If it wasn't for the nice atmosphere in the restaurant, and friendliness of our server, I would have sworn to never come back to Red Lobster. For now, however, I am willing to give it another try. The meal we had was awful. The service was great. The lobster was dried out and tough like it had been reheated from the night before. It was awful. The shrimp was in the same condition. To top it all off they charged for a bowl of clam chowder which we never had. I called the next day as I am a 2 hour drive from Edmonton. They said they would issue a gift certificate. This is not my first bad experience with this Red Lobster. About 2 years ago I took my family there. Spent over $300.00 The food was cold. We had to wait over an hour just to get served. We had a baby with us. I don't think I will ever visit another Red Lobster again. I can get better lobster in my local town cheaper. Just another note. $2.89 for a glass of Ice Tea and $2.69 for a coffee is outrageous. I actually thought that I would make this a tradition to take my family for supper once a year at Red Lobster.
