The service staff were very helpful and pleasant. I ordered a " build your own slam" I picked 5 items knowing I would pay extra. The plate came with 4 items. I asked why. The server just assumed I meant 4 items. Okay if that was all, I would have been fine. The plate had less food on it than a children's plate. There were about 2 tablespoons of shredded hash browns ( remember this is a byo SLAM) the toast was 2 heels of bread that was tougher than shoe leather. In short, there was an embarrassingly lack of food on the plate. The food was just okay. I explained that this was not standard for Denny's restaurants. I have gone to this Denny's for 30 years and I have never had a complaint about the amount of food on the plate. The manager comes over and all he wants to do is talk in circles about nothing relevant. My son finally pipes up and says " look to make a long story short, we're not happy with the food " the manager gives us 10% off our bill. We just attempted to have dinner at Dennys and we entered at 320 and we ended up leaving at 340! After the hostess seated us no one came near the table. Not to mention there were 3 dirty tables and about 7 people in the entire restaurant, so busy was not the issue. It's dirty, and the service was terrible. I'm touch and go on this location. Getting seated is always exceptionally slow... like it makes no sense slow and paying is the same. The food is pretty consistent and a good option of breakfasts at a sect price with kids meals for 3.99 (drink not included). Our server, Debbie, was friendly and prompt on our most recent visit. So why 3 stars? Because the washroom was atrocious! Filthy, old, run down YUCK! And the stalls were teeny tiny which made it hard to help my youngest child. Denny's is a classic! The stars are relative when compared to a high end restaurant but it's a reliable place for "anytime" tasty food. Edmonton is a decent sized city but the pathetic nature of restaurants closing after the seniors are done their early bird dinner, has become a growing problem, places like Denny's are a must! Many places that you can get food from after 11pm are basically offering low quality fast food, Denny's offers full meals at moderate prices and it's greatly appreciated by people like us who work late or night shifts. Having been a patron of many Denny's, we find this one consistently good quality and have a polite staff. read more

This is my neighborhood Denny's restaurant, so I have gone here fairly regularly for the past ten years or so. It was always a pretty typical Denny's, by my calculations. However, during these COVID times, I have been doing a lot of pick-up orders form this location (I am addicted to brunch and with no ability to go out for brunch these days, I have to feed the addiction somehow). They have really won a spot in my heart these past few months. I had their birthday pancakes on a very, very weird birthday earlier in December. The staff have also written me special notes and packed them in with my breakfast, thanking me for my business and telling me to have a great day. One such note even included an adorable drawing of a slice of bacon! And it's special touches like this that make all the difference these days. We have been here twice recently on a Sat. for breakfast. This location seems to be very busy as the entrance is always crowded with people waiting for a table. Both times we arrived around 10:30 a.m. and waited about 15 minutes for a table so considering how busy it was, we found that quick. The host staff offer quick service with leading us to our table and handing us the menu. The waitress came right away to ask what we wanted for beverages, she was also funny instead of serious and grumpy as you would think since the restaurant has probably been non-stop since early morning. I've ordered the Ultimate Skillet twice since I liked it so much. It was a bit greasy the second time I had it. My husband likes prime rib so anything with that in it he will order. The first time he had the Philly Cheesesteak omelette which he really enjoyed. The second time he tried the Bennies. He also enjoyed it but I thought it looked a bit dry and the hollandaise sauce was a bit skimpy. The portions were just right for breakfast and I think they have great prices. We don't eat lunch when we come here for breakfast. When we are on vacation, we usually look for a Denny's since we are on the go and we know we won't need to stop for lunch. read more

Honestly, I've always really liked Denny's for breakfast or late night eats. I used to go to the one across from Grant MacEwan almost every night because I worked until two or three a.m. when I was single. I like this location for the same reason I liked the other one...Consistently good food and good service at decent prices. My coffee cup is never dry and I definitely feel I'm getting more food for my money. For the record, I had a Grandslamwich on my last visit. The bread was grilled and the sandwich itself was pretty packed with egg, ham, cheese, etc.--really hardy and thick. Yes, it came with those dehydrated hashbrown shreds. I like them! I think it's clever prep work and I'd rather eat those than over-processed tater tots any day. The only disappointment was that the ham was a little too sweet. It had a heavy maple glaze. Other favorites I've had there are the Fajitas and the Grandslam breakfast. Both are perfect examples of getting a lot for your money. The plates are HUGE! read more

There doesn't seem to be enough places to have breakfast for dinner and since my husband was craving that, we ended up at Denny's. I wasn't in the mood for breakfast food so I opted for a clubhouse sandwich and crinkle cut fries. The food was ok but how can you have a bad clubhouse? The service was fine and we were seated promptly. There are usually lots of families here and they also have tvs so you can catch a hockey game too. The prices are cheaper than other places but that's to be expected for family style dining place. With all the other restaurants around, I won't be making a special trip to Denny's for a clubhouse sandwich. However, if I was in the mood for a big breakfast, I may be back. read more

Been a while since I have visited a Denny's after a night out. This location did not disappoint. I had a clubhouse and fries. . Almost exactly as you would expect a diner clubhouse to be. Nothing fancy, but exactly what I wanted. . This led to a discussion about how some places will now have something called a clubhouse that is not turkey bacon lettuce tomato and 3 slices of toast a clubhouse and that the practice should be outlawed... . After the impassioned discussion regarding my meal, Barry burnt his tongue on his sizzling hot santa fe skillet. After that though he really complimented the dish. Poor service and even worse food. Waitress disappeared and forgot my wife's cream for her tea for so long the tea was cold. When she finally returned to take our order I was somewhat miffed by the unfriendly attitude. The photo is supposed to be a classic diner cheeseburger. Classic mess if you ask me. Couldn't find our waitress and located a manager. Manager arrived apologized and offered to try again. Our waitress saw the manager at our table and the manager showed her the food. She started laughing and walked away. The manager did take the item off the bill. What truly has happened to quality control and service in the service industry. The food returned minus the fries that had come with the original order. Our "waitress" asked if I had wanted fries!!! Are you kidding me?! Had I not wanted fries I most likely wouldn't have ordered fries. I do apologize for my less than polite comment as I was somewhat dumbfounded at the question. So I am a little weird, it was my birthday and I wanted breakfast for lunch. There were a couple of restaurants that could have fit that were close to my office, unfortunately I chose Denny's. I arrived at quarter past noon and they were fairly busy. I was seated very quickly and my drink order was taken (a water and a cup of coffee). Well, that was it for the good part. Ten minutes later my waitress/server comes over and asks if I am ready to order, I reply "I haven't looked at the menu, I was hoping to get a beverage first, which I ordered ten minutes ago." In a look of total shock (I should nominate her for a daytime Emmy), she replies "oh my, what was your order? I will get them right away". 5 minutes later my water and the most horrid excuse for coffee arrives. I place my order, classic eggs benedict (poached soft) with red potatoes home fries. I am asked if I want the cheese and bacon topping on my red potatoes, I figured what the heck a 600 point boost to you cholesterol is warranted on your birthday so I said sure why not. My server reinforces how delicious the topping will be. Over the next twenty minutes, while continually adding packet after packet of sugar to my coffee trying to make it palatable, I was able to keep myself occupied with Twitter on my iPhone. So it is now 40 minutes into my half hour lunch break and my lunch arrives with shredded hash browns not the anticipated red potatoes. My server puts it down in front of me and says "they gave you the wrong potatoes, it will only take a second to get them to change them". I think to myself "if it only takes a second and you knew they were wrong, why didn't you just get them fixed right away?" Being the polite and starving birthday boy I say they will be fine, I just want to eat and get back to work. I dig into my eggs Benny (poached medium - enough said) and then take a bite of the hash browns. Did you know that once you take a bite of burnt potatoes everything else after that tastes like crap too? If I didn't know that before I do know it now. I finished off the eggs, hoping the packaged hollandaise sauce would kill the burnt taste (no such luck). One check in on Yelp means you've given them a shot, two check ins make you a regular. All-day breakfast rules! Anyone who is cool doesn't get out of bed until noon. And as soon as we're out of bed we're hungry. It's just too bad that Denny's is one of the few restaurants that serve breakfast all day. I had the build-your-own Grand Slam combo. I went with the "build-my-own" option because it was the only way that I could get a combo that didn't come with eggs. (What in the hell do humans eat eggs for anyway?) I ordered bacon, hash browns, toast, and pancakes. The hash browns were the stringy kind. Kinda like those noodle-type things that you can make with a Play-Doh Fun Factory. I didn't care for them. Everything else was okay. Our server was a teen-aged Annie Lennox who had travelled about 40 years into the future to serve me breakfast (at 4 PM.) At least she looked like her. I was a little concerned at first because she didn't write down our orders as we were reciting them to her. But it turns out that she just has a really good memory because she got everything right. She was also attentive with refilling my coffee. My only complaint about our trip here was that it was cold. If you're seated close to the door, be prepared to freeze. People that were seated around us couldn't change tables fast enough once a better spot opened up. Violet P and I were troopers though, we toughed out the elements. Inside. This place is always packed with people during the day. Food are always out fast and hot whereas service is mostly friendly, accurate and fast. My favourite breakfast item is the Salsa Sensation (poached medium eggs on breakfast muffins with salsa mix in the middle and shredded hash browns to top it all off. It never fails to satisfy my palate and I did have it anytime of the day. Been in and out here during the day and night - one thing I know from experience is that the service aren't that great during the night time. The restaurant was awfully dirty for a middle of the night service - the server even had the cheek to put down dirty glasses on the table where me and my partner were not even half way through our food. Lack of consideration by the server was shocking. Other than that, I even had to get out of my seat to ask for a bigger glass of water when we couldn't find any opportunity to grab our server's attention. Never had any issues with the day servers except for the unfortunate night ones. Doubt I'll even consider coming here again during my night cravings. read more

It has been almost 7+ years since i've been to a Dennys, (none in Nova Scotia yet) and they still don't disappoint!! Ordered there new buttermilk chocolate/peanut butter pancakes.. tasted like a reese's pieces.. but on a pancake..I'm drooling as i speak... The shredded hashbrowns were even better especially with the bacon and onions mixed in. I'll be hunting one of these locations down in Florida when I'm there soon! Can't wait! read more

I adore Denny's, I really do. Where else can I get my buffalo covered chicken fingers at 6 in the morning? Not going too lie those pancakes are fantastic as well. BUT, here's where I get to ranting. The bacon, hard too mess up but when it comes too my table with one piece crispy and nice and the rest raw I tend to get a little cranky. There servers are a bit of a hit and miss. I've had one who was hands down stellar. She even cut my boyfriends sausage pieces too look like little tasty octopus's. Guess what it has beer now! The coffee is alrighty, and really if your going too Denny's I am positive you're not going for a 4 star meal. It's filling, it works, and open 24 hours for all those bar stars like me out there. Let's also admit when you're drunk Denny's is pretty damn great. It's like hitting the 24 hour mozza stick jack pot. "A convenient place to meet for a morning business meeting" - i guess thats what the locals might say - me, me thinks not! I havent had Denny's in a very long time, in fact i think this is the first time i have had it not being totally drunk at 2am. Normally i would think Denny's was great, but now i understand it is because i have never been sober when eating it - until now! So going there for a morning business meeting over breakfast - i had to have the grand slam breakfast. It was really disgusting! Hashbrowns were so dry i couldnt eat them without covering them in ketchup, bacon was burnt and eggs were boring. Funny thing too - we had coffee (obviously) and the waitress would literally be asking us to refill our coffee every minute! We would tell her no, then a different waitress would come by, then repeat and repeat! We found it kind of funny - but annoying at the same time. Next time im going to suggest a morning McDonalds meeting opposed to Dennys, at least there i know what i am getting! read more

Possibly the last time I ever set foot in here again. Front desk management of who gets seated in what order is abysmal. ABYSMAL. Just walked out of there on a DEAD Saturday night while the front desk was dealing with a "crisis". No problem. I was patient.? I waited. And then a waitress came from the back and sat the people in line behind me first. UNBELIEVABLY RUDE. Not the first time this has happened. It's a chronic problem. Nobody and I mean NOBODY is paying attention to shovelled on or in what order. People don't mind waiting but the system has to be fair and people have to know that they will be seated in the order they arrive...not from some waitress from $!&@ that runs up tip the front desk, looks at everybody and says "who's next?". Denny's is a place to grab a quick breakfast, as you most likely know, and this West end location is no different. It's usually pretty busy here, and there isn't much privacy from the other customers. Our server was very friendly, but my food was not great (I didn't finish my 'Moon-Over-My-Hammy' sandwich), and the coffee was actually more expensive than Starbucks! After work I decided to go to have a meal before heading home, and was really craving a hot chicken sandwich with fries. I waited at the front door to be seated for at least 5 minutes. Server was very friendly, was able to customize my request. Food came out fast, fries were alitttle hard and cold, gravy was subpar. Staff was having a conversation about sex pretty darn close to my table..which was little unprofessional. Sketchy clientele there (which is to be expected on Stony plain road) But certainly not the worst experience ive ever had. read more

OK I'll admit it - I like Denny's. They have an awesome breakfast menu, I've rarely had to wait long for a table or my food, and the prices are very reasonable. Worst Denny's to go to. I come here all the time, usually midnight and or really morning for the past year. My regular server Debbie has always been on top of providing really good customer service and is always pleasant with everyone. About a couple months ago, I started coming here in the morning at around 9-10ish. This is a usual busy time for the restaurant and it's when I started having dissatisfaction with the service. One of my fave dishes from them is their new spaghetti and meatballs, it is good and cooked well however on couple times that I went here during their minds morning rush, both times my pasta is overcooked! I was surprised that the server even had the audacity to serve it. On the same day when I was trying to pay my bill, there's a line up on the entrance and even though I was there just in time, the hostess didn't acknowledge me and proceeded to bring the guests that just arrived onto their seats. I waited for her and when she came back she did it again. I have been patient with this location as this is really close to my house and I grew up coming to this location but I can no longer stand their very poor customer service. read more

Arrived at 11pm on a Saturday evening. There were a few other tables there at that time. I was seated right away and the server was at my table within a couple of minutes. I ordered coffee and lasagna. After a few minutes my server, Oliver, was back to let me know that he had to make a fresh pot of coffee. That was fine. A few minutes later I get my coffee and lasagna. The lasagna is in a square in the middle of the pasta boat with sauce dripping from the side. There was some watery sauce in the corners of the pasta boat. Presentation gets an F when I see that. It didn't taste terrible, but was not even close to the usual standard in terms of presentation. When I pay 16 bucks for lasagna, I don't want it to look like it has been dropped. read more

Then we had to wait to give our order, again asked for service, Finally, order taken, then waited for our meal. It finally arrived. Son had to rush thru his meal, as he only had 1 hour for lunch. I wrote and emailed the restaurant after complaining about the service, and was told by the manager that he thought I was complaining because I wanted a free meal. Pancakes served cold and easy over eggs where cooked completely through no yolk at all. Other meal which was clubhouse sandwich was burnt around the edges and the extra shredded has Browns where not cook all the way. My meal which was the Cali club house was very good and I can't say anything negative . The manager who name tag said Edward on it seemed shirt and rude when we showed him how the orders came to the table . In a snarky tone he said what would you like me to do about it sir? Like I would assume with the screw ups on both meals so 2 out of 3 meals it would be clear he would offer to discount two of the three meals do to the problems . Our server was pleasant yet not around a lot to see if we needed refills . Would not recommend this location to anyone . Try another location such as Sherwood park on baseline road the service is better and the food quality is better and the management isn't as rude . They should have quality control checking the food before it leaves the kitchen . We watched our food sit for 17.8 minutes as we time the time it was put under the heat light as we waited as we are sitting in the prefect spot to see the kitchen. I am very disappointed in the experience here and I use to come here twice a week when I lived in the west end years ago.the manger finally came over again and gave us 50% off the bill so at least they accepted there mistakes they made.
