HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR PRIVATE FUNCTIONS. Our club booked a private dinner for 25 people 22-Nov-2025. This was our second private function booked this year at Saratoga, and again, we were not disappointed. Saratoga normally closes at 4:00 pm, so we had the entire restaurant at our disposal for our 6:00 pm function. The pre-ordered dinners were simply outstanding. We had a choice of soup or salad starter, Turkey Dinner with dressing and mashed potatoes or BBW Pork Ribs with coleslaw and mashed potatoes or fries, with both entrees served with a perfectly cooked vegetable medley, and a choice of Rice Pudding or Brownie with Ice Cream. Price per person including GST and gratuity was more than price competitive with comparable family style restaurants. Our club has a number of hard core foodies. We're a tough crowd to please. Unusual for large group functions, every single attendee said they enjoyed their meal and Saratoga's ambience. Both pre-ordered main courses were impressively large servings. The Turkey Dinner was described by many as one of the BEST Turkey dinner they had ever enjoyed at any restaurant at any price. Every person who ordered the BBQ Ribs said the quality and portion size (6 ribs per plate) exceeded their expectations. This is a pretty good place for breakfast/lunch. They are only open until mid afternoon, so breakfast or lunch is your only option! The food is always fresh. It's a very busy place and seems to have a following of dedicated regulars. The staff are all very friendly and attentive. The decor is very old school...it's a bit dated and could use some updating, but it's clean and tidy. I've been coming to this place for about ten years. I used to be lucky to live about a block away so I could enjoy this place more often. This is a family business with a good quality food and reasonable price. I love the atmosphere and old style. I'm here for breakfast at the moment and enjoying my German sausage with eggs. Other favourites are club house sandwich and their burgers. The sandwich comes with soup which is always awesome too. Holy crap holy crap! How have I not reviewed this place in my years of coming here let's begin. Every time I have walked into this place one of the owners is at the front to greet us. Is just nice to see how involved they are and that they really care about the place. Nostalgia is what sets in the first time walking in. Where ever you sit you can see the names of the O.G's that help to make that place what it is. My lady, my mom and myself just finished eating there today and with a $20 tip it came out to just under $70 bones I believe. Granted mom did not eat a lot but still! $70 with a great tip for real food. That is really hard to beat around here. Have brunch at Saratoga about once a month, I find it to be the best brunch place in town, eggs are cooked to perfection, excellent staff, service is great (which is a definite plus these days), place is very clean and you feel welcome as soon as you walk through the door. My boyfriend begged me to try this restaurant for months when we first moved to the south side. I refused, saying it was a dive and the food could not be good. One day, a friend called me in crisis and said we should meet for breakfast. Guess where she wanted to go? Saratoga. So I agreed, because she was a friend in need. How could I refuse? We went there for breakfast and it was awesome. The two of us had coffee, fried eggs with bacon, hashbrowns and toast. Our bill came to $25 with tip. Whoo hoo! So I let my boyfriend take me back. Over and over again. We have been going there consistently on Sunday mornings for almost 6 months now. The hostess/owner always recognizes us and so do our servers. We almost never need to remind them of our order anymore and we always get great service. The place may look like a truckstop (in fact, I am pretty sure it once was one) but it really does have great food and good service. Tip: Avoid 9:30-11:00 am arrival on Saturday or Sundays. The place is packed with church goers and family groups and you will be waiting. We usually try to go early, and we end up leaving right as the rush arrives. The Saratoga Restaurant has been in business for a long time. It opened in 1958 and remodeled around five to ten years ago. This is a classic truck stop with a huge parking lot suited to large rigs although these days those rigs are more likely to be RVs or motorhomes than tractor-trailer units. It's very busy on weekends and steady but not overly busy on week days. Expect diner type food that is perhaps a step up from the usual diner. Today I had potato pancakes. They came with a meat of my choice (ham, bacon or sausages) and a slice of melon. The pancakes were very tasty although they appeared to be deep-fried if that is a concern. Coffee is the first thing they bring and my cup didn't go dry until I wanted it to. The staff were friendly and seemed to enjoy themselves. I noticed that they seemed to be particularly patient with older customers. If you have a good sized appetite and are not looking for the healthiest meal in town you will be happy here. read more

We went here as we were too impatient to wait in Cora's infamous line just up the block. This place compares more to a Humpty's than a Cora. Service: 4/5. very good, we were seated right away, all smiles and hot coffee promptly. Our server had a light Vietnamese accent, so if you get her you can expect no mistakes. Food: 2.5/5. We ordered eggs Benedict. The hollandaise sauce was from a package, you know, the thick and bland type? However the dollar pancakes were cooked just right and so was the egg (ordered medium), and a side fruit bowl was actually really varied and enough for two light eaters. read more

What a great family establishment to take the kids out for a nice Sunday breakfast treat. The meals are delicious, the portions that you get are huge and the prices are extremely reasonable. This is a family restaurant that used to be the favorite truck stop at this end of town when there was no South Common once upon a time. This is a typical diner with a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu, typical meat and potatoes kinda place. I prefer this place over Chez Cora, a block away. I come here for breakfast several times per year because I live nearby. I have not ever tried their lunch and dinner foods, but always the breakfast. Typical bacon and eggs are always decent, nothing extraordinary. Good portions and good service. Coffee is lousy like every other diner, so I usually get ice tea. Breakfast for one runs about $11-12 including tax. Only advice I would give the owners is that the decor needs to be spruced up and the seating should be changed to something more comfortable. And better coffee should be served because I would frequent more if so. read more

After yesterday's debacle at s'aroC (spell it backwards) we were looking for a simple diner style breakfast nearby that was better than the complimentary one at the hotel. My spouse pointed out the Saratoga and reminisced about how he used to bicycle by here as a child back in the '70s so that alone made it a worthwhile choice. We were quickly seated by the friendly hostess and literally within a minute, the smiling server showed up with ice water and coffee in hand (take notice, yesterday's diner, in North America water is usually served chilled and with ice) I had the daily special of potato pancakes with choice of Bkft meat, and hubby went with his restaurant test breakfast plate of steak and eggs, both cooked to medium. With time to get comfortable before the food arrived, I noticed the decor is mostly darker wood and reminded me of a cozy restaurant that was very friendly to us in Lyon a couple of weeks ago. Most noticeable and appreciated was the lack of background noise aside from an '80s soft rock station that seemed oddly appropriate and didn't bother me at all. The food arrived in the proper time and the servings were generous with three potato pancakes the size of coffee cup saucers. Tasty and reminiscent of the latkes I used to enjoy at the Jewish diner in Montreal. Hubby says his steak was juicy and closer to well done but then we're still using European standards of cooking so next time will order rare. Eggs were almost SSU and could have been cooked another minute. Even the slice of orange was fresher and sweeter than the half plate of five day old "fresh" fruit from the other place. Finally, the bill was almost 30% less than yesterday's chain joint and it arrived at the table promptly and was paid without having to line up at the cashier. I came here for dinner with my parents, and it was pretty disappointing. While the staff are really friendly, most of the food seemed like it came frozen or in a can. For instance, my dad ordered fish and chips, and what came was two of those triangular frozen fish sticks that you can buy in a grocery store. Our tables were sticky, and the bathroom was gross (I won't go into detail). The service was rude with a lot of attitude. We will not return. We did go at least once every two weeks. My co-worker ordered a sandwich and fries and gravy, and declined the soup that went with it. I ordered a sandwich only. We were going to share the fries, but she had 12 fries on her plate. We counted them. When we received the bill I was charged 9.95 for the sandwich only. I have only eaten breakfast here, and always fast, good and reasonably priced. Decore is somewhat dated, but that doesn't affect the food. Now it's hard to spot as it's hidden by the new 23 ave overpass a bit. I've taken several friends here over the times and all have enjoyed their breakfast. We've been to this restaurant for dinner many times and always enjoyed it. However, today we went for breakfast, which was not completely enjoyable. First our waitress brought completely wrong orders to us with toast. Turns out the orders were for another table but she said the toast was ours, so it sat on the table getting cold for over 5 minutes before our orders came out. Hubby had asked for crispy shredded hashbrowns and got almost raw ones. My steak (MR) came out med to MW and one of my eggs was overcooked. The manager came by and brusquely asked if I wanted it remade. Instead I said I'll have exactly what my hubby ordered. The order was only half correct and again one my eggs was overcooked. The toast was like warm bread. We went to pay and I tried to discuss this further with the same manager but she kept talking over me instead of listening and didn't even change an error we pointed out on the bill. I brought out of town guests here for breakfast and felt awful afterwards because it was not a great choice. Our server was abrupt and not particularly friendly. The potatoes were pre-made frozen hash browns and they were warm and soggy. The bacon was greasy and just barely cooked enough. And the most shocking thing of all was that 3 coffees were $10!
