What a great hidden gem especially if you like you sandwiches! You go up to the counter and order. One suggestion is there is lack of space so we snagged the last table. It would be good if they expanded. Also nothing to look at. Clean but cafeteria style. I think that is we are doing road trips we will grab sandwiches to go. Onto the food. Hubby got the clubhouse, and I got the turkey clubhouse. They were massive. I also tried the soup which was tasty but not standoutish - beef barlery. Next time I won't bother with a side because I couldn't finish the thing. It was both my lunch and my supper. Husband finished his, but not his side of onion rings. Kiddo wolfed down her fries. Plenty of parking out front and lots of seating inside. The restaurant was empty when we came in on a Friday evening. Pizzas were tasty with plenty of toppings and the crust was nice and fluffy. This restaurant is tucked away in the west end. It is off the highway in an industrial area. It has a slight diner feel to it. The restaurant isn't huge, I would say there were roughly about 12 tables with a handful of bar style seating at the counter. This place isn't fancy and is the type of spot where you'd stop by for a quick meal. They are known for the sandwiches but also sell burgers, donairs, pizzas, soup, salad, and serve breakfast. The pizza looked amazing and I kind of wish I had ordered it. That saying, I got the turkey club as I have been hearing about it for some time now. The sandwich was massive (not an exaggeration). I ended up removing a good chunk of the meat in order to be able to eat it somewhat normally. You could easily make a second sandwich out of it. The sandwich itself once you get over the size of it is not that special and because it's so much deli meat I found it salty after a while. Taste wise I'd give it a 6/10. I also got onion rings. I felt they were perfect I'd rate those 10/10. In total my meal was $23 (sandwich, onion rings, and pop). My sandwich was the priciest one on the menu because it was one of their famous ones but if you're getting anything other than a clubhouse it will be cheaper. It was the middle of the week around 6 when I came. Upon arrival there was a long line up due to take out orders. The restaurant itself was not that busy so there was plenty of seating. It is self seating and when you're ready to order you go up to the counter. The staff was very kind despite being slammed with orders. They were able to keep their composer and still deliver great customer service. My food came out pretty quickly. All in all I had a good experience and would come back to try their pizza. read more

Easy to find via Google Maps. Parking available right in front of the restaurant. No one there at 5PM on a Friday. We got takeout. Staff was super friendly and welcoming. Order took 30minutes to make. We got the 2 medium (10") gourmet pizzas for $37 (Online menu says $34 but cashier said the menu has changed). Wish they would update their prices online! We tried the Marty's Special and Mediterranean. Marty's Special - 9/10 Really good. Crust if very thick and fluffy. Not chewy or doughy - very good. Lots of toppings. Mediterranean same comments. Reheated leftovers in air fryer the next day and was still really tasty and the crust held up really well. I also got the 10" Crazy bread $11. It was good but wish it was more garlic-y. Meat sauce was more like marinara but was a great addition. 8/10. I also got the Half Loaf Baked Italian Loaves $14. Which turns out to be a pizza sub. Very good. Bread was soft and fluffy, lots of meat, not dry. Good portion for price. 9/10. I also got carrot cake and brownie for dessert. When they heard this was for my nephew's birthday dinner they threw in a free portion of cake - so nice! Carrot cake tasted very store-bought, icing didn't taste like cream cheese. Wow this place really was quite delectable. My pallet was really surprised with the combination of flavours that hit my mouth when eating the sandwich. I will never go to any other sandwich place ever again. The service there was wonderful my friend and I got our food faster then we could say snapadoodledoo. We drove out to Donna's based on other reviews but our experience wasn't the same. We ordered the Reuben sandwich with poutine and a small Caesar salad. Everything was over salted. The corned beef is definitively gonna be salty cuz it's cured but the sauerkraut was also salty so there was no balance or reprieve from the salt. The marble toast looked thick and should have balanced it out but it didn't. Looking to the poutine to give my palate a break was a mistake. The fries were seasoned and already salty enough. Add gravy and cheese and now the salt is burning my taste buds. The Caesar salad got good reviews but the small portion was a tiny clear clamshell of romaine lettuce that they charge $7 for. No small salad is worth that much and even the salad was salty. I got the sandwich combo and with the salad the bill came to $40+ dollars. We only ate about half of the poutine and Reuben so this experience was a rip off and I would never come back again. read more

Travelling home my son found us a quaint interesting cafe. We were welcomed in and immediately felt very comfortable. I think we met almost all the staff, too which are all family, and they were most hospitable. I have to say I've only ever felt this in one other place Bishop California. Now the food...My husband is a chef I've eaten some damn good food, this is on my top 3 across Turtle Island so far! We went around 2-3pm on a Saturday afternoon and to our surprise, it wasn't too busy at all! Tons of tables to sit at and the wait time was maybe around 10ish minutes for our food? My cohort had the "Marty Special" pizza and man that thing was STACKED with goodness and perfectly cooked- the cheese was nicely browned on top as well which I love. It got good reviews for sure! Lastly I got some goodies to go: butterscotch peanut butter marshmallow square and a rice crispy square. The butterscotch square was my fave of the two- always nostalgic for me. The sugar in this one was caramelized which I liked a lot. The rice crispy square was also good but if I'm being picky about it- it could have more marshmallows to make it less dry and more ooey gooey. I've tried this establishment twice now. Once I ordered through Skip the Dishes and the other I went in person. It was at my husband's request that we try it, as he loves finding hidden gems but it didn't live up to the reviews we read or other dinner type restaurants in its category. My first impression of their menu was it was designed with care and attention to detail which didn't transfer over to the kitchen. The staff were friendly and approachable, although I couldn't help but notice they were not following AHS guidelines when it came to wearing masks. They did have a sign outside stating that patrons had to wear masks but even those rules were not being enforced by three other customers who were inside. The layout of the space was comfortable and simple with an attempt to show some character with old airbrush art showing icons of the past like Marilyn Monroe, James Dean and Elvis Presley in hot rods which seemed out of place and bought second hand. There were two booths and a couple of tables to sit at. We chose the booth and reviewed our menus. At that time it seemed that the patrons were mostly truck drivers and people off the highway. Which gave it a truck stop dinner feel along with the food they offered. Although the menu was designed well the offerings were ambitious and fell short. We order a Hot Roast Beef with Fries and Gravy and house salad. The food came out quickly and the portions were large, enough to feed two grown adults with a large appetite. The fries didn't come with gravy as the menu said which was disappointing. The Hot Roast Beef sandwich was warm dry roast beef on a piece of thick dry texas toast with warm lumpy gravy poured on top. Once you got past the gravy the bread and roast beef were dry as there was nothing mixed in with them. The fries were hot and crispy, they had a cornstarch or flour coating on them that makes them extra crispy, and although that is not my favorite type of fry they did a good job. The salad came in a takeaway box and was nothing to write home about. It was simply a few chopped veggies and some ranch dressing. When I ordered through Skip the Dishes I got the pepperoni pizza, corn beef sandwich, donair, and spring rolls. My advice is to stick with the cold sandwiches as they were the best thing on the menu. The donair was awful, it was prepackaged meat that was pulled right from the package and put into the pita without being separated. The spring rolls were just as good as the fries because they cooked right before serving. If you're looking for quantity you will be happy. The price is a bit high for the quality you get. If they made some minor adjustments to the food and didn't take short cuts it would improve things greatly. It was very obvious that the meat was prepackaged and dried out, the gravy was warmed up and not fresh and the method of stacking and not mixing the gravy with the dry meat left us needing a drink to chew our meal. Overall, I think they could improve some minor things and it would bring their quality up. read more

This place makes the biggest sandwiches I have ever seen in Edmonton. They are huge. They are so very, very huge. The bread (you have a choice of what kind) is Texas big as well. You can combo your sandwich with fries or onion rings and a pop. The sandwiches are made to order with your choice of a limited selection of toppings. I had a turkey sandwich and my friend had roast beef. I have never seen anything like them. I could not take a photo that did them justice. I was frantically texting my brother during the meal to tell him about this place. I was looking at other people's plates and saw similarly enormous piles of food. There are burgers, subs, pizza, and some dinners. The staff are also very friendly. Donna's is located on the northwest edge of the city, but well worth the trip. read more

I was on the fence about writing this review and have sat on my experience at Donna's for a few weeks now. It needs to be shared because I feel terrible for the couple that had the experience they did! I was at Donna's and there was a couple that came in. You could tell that they had just discovered Donna's by their conversation. They made their order and sat at a table. While they were sitting there, they watched the orders come out and were surprised at everything coming out of the kitchen and were commenting on how everything looks fantastic. An order of pizza came out of the kitchen and it was delivered to the table. The older man that works there was standing by the counter observing the place, and the the woman turn and says to this older man "the pizza's look amazing" to which his reply was "they better be, been doing this for 30+ f*ckin years" and walks away!!! He actually swore at this woman, who was obviously shocked too, as she turns to her partner and I heard her say "did he just swear at me?" and her partner says "I think so". I couldn't believe this is how this man who works there, spoke to this woman. I don't blame them if they never go back. This man was incredibly rude and should not be the 1st point of contact for this restaurant. Service is everything and this couple will probably share their experience at Donna's with others. So somehow this place just came onto my radar in a flash flood... in the course of a week two friends started talking about it in separate conversations and it came across my Instagram feed. I have a customer in Winterburn close by and have literally drove by countless times without giving it much thought. I always assumed it was just another run of the mill industrial park lunch counter, which are a dime a dozen. After the recommendations I made plans to meet the two aforementioned friends there for a Friday lunch to see if the hype is real. And the hype was real. They are famous for their clubhouse sandwich at Donnas and it's easy to figure out why. It is MASSIVE and it is delicious. Your biggest problem will be figuring out how to attack this monster. I opted for multigrain toast with mine.. the bacon was crispy, the veggies fresh, and the meat piled high. I went with the minestrone soup as a side... it was average, a bit pasty for my liking. Not sure it was homemade. My lunch pals had a chicken Caesar salad and a Montreal Smoked Beef sandwich respectively and they both loved theirs as well.
